Went to Befallen a couple weeks ago to screw around and kill time (and skeletons). I went to the door that used to take the "Splintered Wooden Key" which drops off the first "a shadowknight" and clicked on it (with no key or lockpicks on my cursor) and it opened.

Is the first door no longer locked? I can confirm that doors 2 and 3 are still locked.

It's also a shame to see this zone empty all of the time. Years ago it was a great place to go after East Commonlands. It's a fun zone and a good place to get players used to dungeons.

I was on the lower floor on other side of fake wall, when a Large Skeleton (exact name) came running along and vanished at the end of the corridor. Didn't see him again.
He coned green to my lvl36 Magician.
Any idea what the hell it was?

I walked was walking along the wall, into it, seeing if I could find any secret passages (I was lost on a lower level) and as you know you can see through the wall in most cases when doings so, and I saw a mob named Wraps McGee. I couldn't find a way into his room, though.

__

Found him: -626, -171. Red to a level 25. Right clicking him gives the message "You suspect that this being can see you."

The zone spawn time is 19 minutes (190 ticks).

There's a single wanderer that walks from the entrance, all the way down to the third floor by the elf skeleton. Once it reaches the third floor, it turns around and runs (not walks) all the way back up to the zone entrance.

The banker in Befallen was an exploit that someone from the "inside" put in. Instead of exchanging 10gp for 1pp, I believe he exchanged 10gp for 10pp. That is where a lot of the excess platinum has come from.

A new NPC has appeared in Befallen. His name is Zeek, a halfling cleric. I was showing my friend's 17 bard around and found him near the entrance. He cons red to my 46 ranger. I hailed him and he said something about so much undead to kill, so little time. He asked what I wanted. He said perhaps i am after the potions? When I say what potions, he does not answer. I assume he is waiting for a turnin of some sort. Anyone have an clues?

The intro to this quest starts in East Commons, if you kill the Willowisps some will drop a scroll that looks like a spell called "Third Riddle for the Troll".

"You have done well, you have done right, the potions are almost within your sight. In a place not too far, where the dead live again, is the place you must seek for a fellow named... *the remainder of the note appears to be torn*"

Zeek says "Ah, so many dead to destroy, so little time. What is it you want? You seek the potions perhaps? "

You say, 'I seek the potions'

Zeek says "Give me the four clues. "

That's as far as I got, asked him what clues, what potions, what undead...currently wiping out the zone to see...

One clue drops from drakes in Lavastorm which pints to wisps in EC. EC wisps drop a clue that points to Zeek in Befallen. So there are two clues yet to find, one of them should point to the drakes in Lavastorm.

In Nektulos forest the halflings have a rare drop of "First riddle of the Troll" when opened it reads "In a place of fire, we have hidden riddle number three, the wings of a beast hide something for thee" So off to lavaatorm, killed drakes there, and got "Scond Riddle of the Troll" it reads "In the lands of the common are beings of light. A fourth clue will drop when you learn who to fight" Off to EC, where the note dropped off the whisps, and said what was alreadt posted =P

My guess is that it starts in neriak, I'm gonna go take a look there now =P

Hardly anyone goes to Befallen anymore. There are other zones with xp bonuses where the loot is better. What you are probably seeing is the placeholders for the high level mobs that have to be killed repeatedly until the mob you want pops. I would guess that some of the higher level placeholders in the lower areas probably haven't been killed in months if not years on some servers.

If you start any class ( i'm cleric ) as a dark elf ( neriak/east commonlands ) you can easily solo this place, next to the WC zone point if you get in danger.
I started to solo there at lvl 9 and got out of there to go at LOIO at lvl 17, most of the mobs you catch till lvl 11-12 gives a whole blue and then when you see it dosent gives enough exp, NO dont go in the well!! Just kill the shadowknight, he will give you his key wich will make you able to go to the lower lvls of the zone, be careful tough.

Anyone tried the trick of dropping down the well on the 1st floor and trying to beat up the 3rd level baddies?
I've tried several times, sometimes winning, other times failing - badly.
Make sure you've got gate to a safe bound spot on the 1st level and don't move away from the bottom of the well. This way, if (& when) you die, you'll re-spawn at your safe spot on the 1st level - run to the well and summon your corpse: It works! Zap, your corpse appears at your feet from the 3rd level to the 1st!
Great exp to be had and you shouldn't have to worry about getting your corpse back from the 3rd.

I was a lvl 15 war at the time. I formed a group of a DE necro, and a halfling rogue. I had 1 key, so we decided to go down into the dungeon a little. All of a sudden we see a dwarf running from about 20 mobs! I take down 1 skeleton. I look around the room. My DE necro pal is dead. The rogue is nowhere to be found. All of a sudden the door opens, and here comes the horde of mobs. Practically every mob was present. Anyway, I escaped with 17hp left. 1 more hit from a ghoul would of easily kiled me. Fortunately, my rogue friend escaped unscathed. BE VERY CAREFUL HERE
Starting up Befallen
# Jun 14 2002 at 2:14 PM Rating: Excellent
Well I just got to Befallen to experiment with my 10 Dark Elf Wizzy, Grokke. When I say experiment I mean find out if its really as good/bad as people say, and gain some experience in the various zones of Norrath.

For anyone who's never been there, you must travel along the south wall of West Commonlands to get to the tunnel entrance. As soon as I entered the very first time, I walsked forward into the dark hall and was immediately attacked by a Greater Skeleton, pulled by a higher level character.

I should have run away with my tail between my legs, of course, but instead I tried to fight it. I was dead almost instantly. The Greater Skeleton was something completely new to me, and I was used to Decaying Skeletons in Nektulos that die if you sneeze on them.

So I went all the way back, being more careful this time, and within a few minutes of hanging by the entrance, I had formed a small trio of Dark Elves. Together, we went deeper into the dungeon through one of it's four starting doors.

After killing a few regular skeletons and a plague rat, we were aggroed by the fierce (at least to my level) Skeleton Lrodd. This guy is about level 12-14, and because of our unnatural talents we turned him into a pile of bones without suffering serious injury.

AFter camping another dark room for about 10 minutes, we killed a simple Dark Elf Shadowknight that carried a splintered wooden key. One of my groupies knew what this went to, and we followed him to a locked door in the main hall. After walking through an open holl in the wall and going deeper down into the second level, we were able to kill our first zombies and mummies.

These undead seemed to pour out of the hallway, and when the battle was over one of our groupies lay dead. The two of us were fiercly angry at every undead creature in the dungeon at this point, and we headed down the hallway killing Greater Skeletons and Plague Rats. The experience at this point was great, and I had just reached level 11.

Suddenly, as we charged down a dark corrider, we entered a room and found ourselves falling to the ground, perhaps ten feet down. We had fallen through a pit trap, and the hole above us was impossibly out of reach. We both chose to go out through the only exit known to us, a closed wooden door. Shakily, I opened the door not knowing we were hopelessly lost in the middle of the third and most dangerous floor.

All sorts of undead, as well as willowisps, began attacking us at once. My partner tried to fight them, but I ran on through the door and down a dark hall seemingly filled with skeletons. I didn't make it far, and died from the onslaught of skeletons.

I learned a lot about this dungeon in my short visit, and once I reached level 11 again, I stayed there and began to hunt the skeletons once more, as it is obviously a great newbie dungeon.

Well he means the red sash of order which u really can't do til u are at less 30+ twinked big time or lv 40 untwinked. The first belts are eazy but the red one is hard and by the time u get it normally useless besides for the use in the epic. U have to get a blacken wand from here can't rember where and a blacken sappire from najena (Off rare spawn found in the locked room just before the 3rd key guy). Both items can be droped and the final sash also may be droped.

I have been runing around in this area now for a couple of weeks and have run into diffrent creatures then the ones listed. These include, Wimpy skeletons, Large skeletons, Ghouls, zombies, decrepted skeletons, and Giant rats [lots of giant rats].
Also to get a few extra fights in, attack a giant rat [while leaving an escape route open for it] and let it run after it has been hurt enough. The rat will drag back at least one undead [normaly a skeleton] each time it runs and comes back.
Also all skeletons have the potentioal for having rusty weapons, and other items.

ok the DE mobs aggro everything... So?
they are SK's, Cleric's, and Necro's, not really the best stuff to fight... So?
I deliberately cause trains here, grab a follower, fear it, and wait, my group loves it, were all under 20, so some followers still give us exp, but we get these awsome hordes of exp due to the Dungeon exp bonus and the sheer number of mobs slain.

Best of all, they drop FS and Bronze weapons, so you make some pretty darn good loot for pretty minute effort.

today we owned the zone, all the way down to the bottom floor, I (Goggwin) dinged 19 and Zark was half a bubb away from 18 when I had to leave.

Befallen shouldnt be worthy of being called a dungeon. Most dungeons have great loot and are mostly used for raids. But no, befallen has extra ordinary loot and alot of people ranging from levels 10 to 15 like to level up here. Another thing is most of the rooms just look ordinary. In places like Dalnir you see blood on the walls and secret passages. Also in Unrest, It is a whole castle instead of just alot of rooms like Befallen is. In my opinion the GM's should allow SOW to be casted in Befallen because it is a leveling up area more than a dungeon.

First of all its never nice to call someone and idiot. Especially if you aren't willing to offer a reason why you feel that way. Thats just lazy. Second, this fits all of the criteria of a dungeon as mentioned before. This is a training dungeon. If you are new to the game and haven't hunted in a dungeon environment before this is a great spot to do so. The loot isn't that bad considering the levels of the Mobs who drop it. Remember not everyone has a level 60 main to buy a full set of cobalt for their new level 1 warrior. I think barbed arms and legs are great armor for anyone under 20, and this is a great way to get them. As for allowing sow in here, this place is full of undead. These are probably among the easiest mobs in all of norrath to outrun. Plus the fact that they have those crazy pathing issues to deal with that we don't so it takes them even longer to chase you to the zone. Nah, I think this is a great little dungeon and am hunting there right now with my new level 9 Bard. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

well its a dungen no matter how you look at it, and its indoors so sow shouldnt be allowed anyhow. and then what makes it more a dungen is the requirement of keys. graphics, fancy floor, loots dont matter if its a dungen or not. btw befallen has hidden passage or holes on the floor .

Ok befallen is a pretty easy place. And that i know cuse i can solo down there without really anyhelp but last night of Feb 20,2002 They seemed to have something going on the DE were back andthere were tons and tons of monsters. More than sual. People were running with a train of about 6 monsters on them. Now they con green to me but still be attacked by 4 other peoples train no matter who you are that can be a quick death if not fimilar with the area. So anyone wantig to go there just be wary of the trains. They are often fast deadly and i don't know how many times i have seen someone run into a room like there in WC and get smacked back out by 4skellis,2 risen corpses and a handful of necros...so be safe and have a fun journey i am gonna go back today ^_^

okay, hang on ! I made this red sash quest
That was only a GM event in Befallen. So sorry to confuse you all. Marnek's wand was still asked after GM event on monday. But Marnek is Priest Amiaz.. You have to loot on him the Blackened item, what i did. Priest Amiaz still spawn in a room between the throne and the well. ph is a common Theurgist normally.
This place is fairly boring, but not as dangerous as in Najena. (no caster to kill that makes the difference). While waiting i gave to a skelly a sword and worked my disarm / instill doubt while waiting for repop ;P

The Dark Elves in Befallen are some kind of event. I could not get any kind of answer as to whether it is triggered or GM event. From what I could tell, top floor seems to be level 10-18 or so, I did not go any deeper, partly because I could not get a key, and partly because I had to zone when the necros ganged up on me.

Be warned, when this happens, not only does EVERYTHING despawn, but pets will despawn also. A 51 mage died when he was on the third floor and it changed over - his pet disappeared, and everything repops within 30 secs.

Greens will aggro, no matter what. Even the rare (during the event) decaying skellie spawns, he will aggro me - that has not happened for a long time.

The good news is that there is much better loot - Bronze weapons about a quarter of the time, got 2 cast iron maces, and even a FS sword, all on first floor. With a good group, during the event, the money made may even rival Giant killing, considering how fast these guys spawn and drop. just be prepared to be encumbered, and dump the cp and sp.

bedallen is getting insane.
all agro at 40 (as a monk) and 50 (as a druid), we got nice mob casters, i used to train 4 5 mobs even if i seat on "safe" and cleaned places (tested to see). normal mob repop is frenzy (around 3 mins). If you thought about making a low group as before (lvl 5 to 20 group) forget it, you'll make a total wipe out party.
------
Monk red sash quest changed !!! You must not look for Priest Amiaz now, but for Marnek, and his Marnek's wand. I do not complete the quest yet, but it may pop where Amiaz poped, 3d floor, inside the room between Commander throne and the well place. ph is a follower and 3 vortex bats. Good luck !

Realizing you posted this in February you may have figured out the answer already. But just in case anyone else is having this problem I thought I'd post this answer. There is a small bug with lockpick. You get the skill at level 6 but the game seems to think it starts at 11. When you first train lockpick put all 5 points into it. That way your skill will be at 11 (5 over your current level). Lockpicking in Befalen should work after that.

Most skills work that way. IF you get double attack at lvl 20 and train 5 points into it your skill will be 25. The skill starts at the ,lvl you receive it.

Ok. This is weird.. 2 days ago I was in Befallen cause I was bored. Everything was normal. Then today I go back, due to bordom and to take a break from EC.. It has totally new mobs.. And they aggro and train like a mofo. I thought I was trippin or something, went in and say a bunch of 'a dark follower' n' stuff. I was like wtf? neway, just curious when and why they changed it.. hmmm..

what the heck is the point of a level with not rally good items where u take 5 steps and the monsters increasingly go up in levels .the only way to solo and clear out is to be level 40 and who wants to go in that dump when your that high. watch out the gouls will drag your corpse. i really wouldnt go in there, i know tons of peeps who spent 3 hours just on a corpse run at the bottom of them stupid stairs on the second floor.P.S if your high level just help people on corpse run for stuff now that works great and people get a real boner for you!
RE: befallin

Yeah! Why doesn't Verant give me experience and loot on a silver platter? And why wasn't my character born with a silver spoon in its mouth?

Seriously, dungeons are designed for GROUPS, not soloing, at the levels that you will get good experience from the mobs. Befallen is SO easy to get to that there's no excuse not to grab 1 or 3 of your friends to go with you rather than trying to solo. Even better is the fact that since it's such a low level dungeon (unless you have the sick and twisted uber-Befallen on your server), that it's pretty easy to hire upper-level "help" for a nasty CR (e.g. a pair of 30 players or a single level 40+ player).

Learn those dungeon fighting/grouping skills now while the learning cost (e.g. death and CR) is low, otherwise you will eventually lose a fully geared corpse in some Tunare forsaken level 60 dungeon someday.

Yeah you would be OK for a while, but as soon as you get past the first door, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAVING A CLERIC OR DRUID AROUND YOUR LEVEL NEARBY, because most of the greater skeletons will aggro on you and that means, thaty you should, probably get a heal or so, so that you may continue on.

Befallen is a REALLY good 15 Wood Elf druid place to hunt. Just running around, I found a treasure trove of decent challenges, such as taking on Ice Boned Skely and two Wisps simultaneously(only better challenge I've faced was my epic fight against Giz Dinree solo at 15. I won :) ) and exhiliarating triumphs(like finally finding that stupid key) and good loot(I looted the stupid key and traded it to another guy for some phat lewt).

On another note, does anyone remember the really old Dastardly Dan show, with the weird aviator-pilot guy with the dog Muttley who kept trying to kill the carrier pigeon? The one with the extremely monotonous theme song, like (insert corny piano music)"We will... stop the pigeon stop the pigeon stop the pigeon stop the pigeon stop the pigeon stop the pigeon stop the pigeon stop the pigeon!". I doubt it, it ran as long as the show with the car that had a girlfriend car and had motorcycles trying to ruin his reputation.
(Note: NOT speed buggy).

What am I talking about?

The show was, I believe, officially called "Dastardley and Muttley in their Flying Machines" but was of course known to its fans as "Stop That Pigeon". The Dastardly guy was Dick Dastardly. What - are they Befallen mobs now? ;-)

I had been going through here for the first time in a long time with my lvl 13 war and everything was coning green to me so i went in search of something harder than that i found a room and ended up falling in the well needless to say when i got to the bottom i got killed really quick by 2 gouls 3 icebone skeles and some other skele so no i have to get a group and go get my corpse if you want exp adn can taek all of them go in the well.
RE: The Well
# Jan 24 2002 at 10:18 PM Rating: Decent
You could actually use the keys and work your way down, instead of falling down into 3 mobs who may agro on you, and then having to do a messy CR

Of course, if you are high enough the well is useful. When camping Moltor I do this:

1. Bind at zone entrance
2. Kill the PH for Moltor
3. The spawn is 16 minutes, so you got time to kill
4. Fall down the well
5. Zap the place holders for the special spawns on the 3rd floor
6. Gate back

With a bit of luck, you can get the priest and other dude to spawn.

Makes the camp a bit more interesting, and dont need to bother with the keys.
