The leprous chokidai is missing from the list which must be a dissapointment to rangers working on their 1.5's so I thought I'd put a little information in here. The leprous chokidai spawns in the first "stable" on the right side of the hallway from the zone in. I managed to pull him solo with a invis/sneak combo and a snare pull. Got him back to the zone for an easy capture, add free. He spawns when a ranger at this point on quest enters zone. If you fail to capture him, he has 2 hour respawn. Hope this helps out fellow rangers!! Oh, and you kill this guy, get ready for a nasty hour long case of "epidermal rot"
Just another note when heading to the chokidai the domesticated see through IVU as they are not undead but rather live found this out as they agroed my as i was near several undead while i had Invis vs undead on.
Second attempt to get to the mob was a lot smoother went in the middle of the coral and got only live agro there, cleared the domesticated ones and took out the leprous on with no problem.
Found in-game map for Chardok, but can't find one for Halls of Betrayal--anyone know a good place to find one? Google turns up links that go to Mapfiend and the fellow who runs it has deleted all "stale" maps.
Thanks Much,

Anyone besides me also notice there is not one map in existance that shows where the zoneline to Chardok B is? or explains how to arrive there? Directions? locations? nada.
if anyone has a chardok map that shows where the zoneline is to Chardok B would really be appreciated!

It's difficult to have a 2 dimensional map of Chardok, due to the multiple layers that overlap each other. I found one on mapfiend, but it's hard to see the actual path. Best thing to do is get non-KOS to Chardok then spend an hour or so wandering around until you get familiar with zone. Basically, keep running down down down. When you see the Sarnak Herb Collectors, you're close. Here's the map I found: http://eq.mapfiend.net/view.php?map=Chardok_1_1488.txt&bg=b&id=132
I still haven't been to Chardok B, though from what I have read it is now on my short list of must-visit zones. I went to Sol C recently for the first time and a group of 3 (me, 65 cleric and 66 necro) were able to get 2 named drops in less than an hour. Interesting zone and I expect I will go back there soon.
first damage needs to be done on the leprous chokadai by the ranger doing their epic and its with a crafted weapon that is also part of the epic quest. they wind up with a blood sample, one of 4 original samples needed and an addition two samples come later in the quest. once the mob is at about 25% health it despawns and the sample is left on the cursor...there is also a chance of failure that the sample will be there...kind a pita since tyhe respawn on the mob is 1-2 hrs. so be nice and leave them for us rangers if ya see it up..:)
overall judging by the ranger epic the quests themselves for the new epics seem pretty cool.
Noticed this named spawn in the pen near resurrectionist's camp. Did a minor DoT AoE called Epidermal Rot. Took radiant cure and 5 castings of crusader's touch to cure it, so I guess it is curse-based. Dropped nothing, but it could have a rare drop. It wasn't a particularlly hard fight. Immune to stun cease so it is 55+ in level.
For some reason this zone has the best posts I've ever seen on this board for any mob or zone. Thanks all for the great info.
I came here in search of the mask of the forgotten, and possibly some sarnak spiritmaster war beads.
I noticed that a rabid chokidai also spawns just around the corner to the left of the zone in, and at about 30% health two ghosts spawned right on top of us. One was not mezzable, the other was. I had cleared in the other direction, and also waited to tag the 2 wanderers, so this sounds like something someone else had said, and mobs do appear to spawn while killing a named.
Can someone please post where the sarnak champion spawns? Thank you in advance.
Just an observation on the Rabid, Ive seen it pop in so many different places that I dare say its a random spawn anywhere outside the castle. Some have suggested that its loot depends on where it pops, and that may be possible. THe only time we got the FT neck piece was just outside the castle entrance (on that triggered spawn in the doorway to the next chamber just past the pens)
Killed the sarnak champion last night, he was on the platfor near Palardiag Dax`Kunoksan. I like this zone, less than 2 days of killing stuff and my cleric is already dubious in chardok. Still waiting for divine intervention to drop though...
As you may have seen, the right hilt and gem 1 were fixed with todays patch. and here they are.
Combine the gems and you get Baelins Gem or something *chuckle*, turn it back in to him and you are given
Black Enchanted Amulet MAGIC LORE NO-DROP Slot: Range AC: 10 DEX:+10 STA:+5 WIS:+10 INT:+10 HP:+50 MANA:+50 +10 vs Disease/Cold +20 vs Poison Weight: 2.5 All/All
As for the hilt, turn in all of the Shai'Din pieces and you are given the complete no-drop ceremonial sword back + Shai'Din Medicine Bag, and he asks for you to combine the blood of the 8 councilmen into the medicine bag to make a tanning agent, which you must return along with the blade for him to 'Judge You'
I'm too lazy to post the exact text, but the Councilmen are obviously the new mobs that appear near the Chardok Royals now, I've gotten 1 No-Drop blood on my main before it was known what it was for. I don't intend on finishing this, so let us all know what it yields, hope this helps all of you =)
The Betrayers are dark blue at 61. Seemed to be tougher than the other mobs I was fighting, so I'd guess it's around 58-60... for some reason their corpses last 30 minutes, but only dropped 4-5 plat on each kill so far.
It looks like fighting here will net you + Di'Zok faction, which you need to do Spirit Wracked Cords. My question is that does the faction seem to move up faster fighting here rather than Goblins? You have to kill around 3500 goblins to get faction high enough. Plus, they are green to me at 58. If I could get exp and good faction at the same time, that would be great.
Are the faction hits larger by killing the "betraying" sarnak that are here?
I've been fighting there every other day for over two weeks now and I'm still KOS. However the loot here is probably much better than what you'd get in Nurga/Droga and the exp is pretty decent. A warrior in my guild who's been there more often than I have (and hasn't killed the king and queen) has managed to become non KOS there and can walk down. As opposed to my invis and run technique (thank Marr for CA3).
So considering the hundreds upon hundreds of faction hits I've taken and the number of named guys I've killed there, I'd have to say the faction hits are either as small as the Nurga/Droga hits or I'm permanently KOS from the royal raids I've done in the distant past.

Royals aren't really all that big of a faction hit. When we first killed Royals I was at Amiable. Killed the Prince and Queen once, and then King 7 times before my faction even dropped to indif. But if you had bad faction before they put the -2k faction cap, people say that you can have up to -20k faction (which was the faction cap before).
As for this being a viable way to raise faction...I think that it's a 1:1 faction hit, so it's faster to kill goblins in FM. But the experience isn't terrible there and if you hunt their long enough you'll get it up. (Our rogue levelled in LOIO on sarnaks, and hunted in chardok for a long time before the revamp along with going with us on all the royal raids and more...and he just hit amiable). But we've also been hunting there quite some time.
The named HoB critters cannot be mezzed according to the level 65 enchanter that was with us, pretty sure she was using the PoP mez spells. The Champion, Armorer, Weaponsmith, Rabid, Brodisek, Krizzknot, & Valinion cannot be mezed so if they pop and add you gotta mez what you were fighting and switch to them.
Also I was playing my 65 cleric the other day and the Armorer and Weaponsmith had spawned next to it each other. I tried casting Pacification (supposed to work on anything under level 65, both were blue to me at 65) and got 'your target is unaffected' error messages right off the bat, the spell wouldn't even count down.

Not sure, but I think most of the named mobs in the zone have a chance of dropping high level kunark spells (ones from the king/queen/prince loot table for example)

In addition to the zone out at the zone in point (the grey flower thingy) there are two additional zone outs. The castle zone out and the back zone out.
To get to the castle zone out you work your way straight thru the castle until you reach the room where you have to turn left or right. Turn left, enter Baelin's room (after killing the critters of course). Turn right and clear a straight path again, two rooms down is a ramp that leads down and to the left, at the end is a boarded up passage, click on the boards to zone out and end up just outside the HoB zone in lever (just like clicking on the flower).
To get to the back zone out you take the first right past Baelin's room and work your way to the ramparts. There is a cave past the ramparts go down the lefthand branch and you'll see a rusty looking door, click on it to zone out and end up right where the other two zone outs take you.
Note: Rabid Chodakais spawn in this back zone out area and drop a very nice ring (and it's not lore) and a very nice priest cloak with Improved Healing IV.

I to have spent a great deal of time in the zone since it 1st came out, and have not seen the 1st gem or right hilt drop in any part of the zone. Although I have not hunted much in the torture/tactical area of the zone, which is WAY past korucust and all quest NPC's,(you'll know you're in this area by the emotes) I will be focusing on this area for a while. I have also heard that these quests are broken, but I'm willing to bet there is some sort of trick to getting these last pieces ;) GL!
I know this may sound pretty stupid, but where exactly is Halls of Betrayal? I ready somewhere, but I can't find it now, that it helps to have a non-kos Cother pull your group down (whereever down there is), or you can fight your way down. Could someone please help explain the way? Thanks
To get to Chardok Halls of Betrayal you head like you were heading to to the royals (or the herbalist) but you drop down before the second bridge on the Right side. Use lev and invis and go thru the waterfall, on the left edge, just past the waterfall is a nitche with a lever, click the lever to zone into HoB.

My guild went back to Hall of Betrayal again last night for some more exploring. We had a partial wipeout after fighting our way to the first quest NPC we found, Baelin Xir'Rixoan. However when we fought our way back several named critters had respawned along the path to our bodies and we got a good haul of items. I also spotted some new critters that I didn't see the day before so I'm listing them here along with the loot. I suspect there are more quest NPCs but there could be more triggers to Baelin that we haven't found for the gem and weapon quests. We did determine he's the NPC for the 4 pieces of the staff of suffering quest.
We had a 60 ranger and 64 SK to help with the conning and all of the named critters were even to red to the Ranger but all were dark blue to the 64 SK. The sarnak armorer actually spawned twice for us and dropped two different items (once on the way to the bodies and once more after we rezzed the two bodies there). The ranger mentioned that some of the dogs were even to RED to him so the chodakai are apparently level 60 to 63 since all of them were dark blue to the SK.
What was especially odd was that while killing an overseer in the room directly west of quest npc Baelin, we had the first of two named ghost adds come from a hallway to the west that's always been empty in our previous explorations. Then as soon as we killed Brodisek, Valinion attacked us from the other side (Baelin's room), as far as we know were weren't trained but it was really odd.
Note: in addition to the new loot drops some stuff from chardok drops here as well, we got a sarnak shield of battle and several kunark spell drops. Also we got two Staves of Shielding from random royal guards.
Everything we killed gave us the following faction hits:
Your faction standing with Followers of Korucust got worse. Your faction standing with Brood of Di`Zok got better. Your faction standing with Betrayers of Di`Zok got worse.

a revived sarnak - undead - sarnak skelly (forgot to look)? a ghostly sacrifice - undead - sarnak ghost a spectral betrayer - undead - sarnak ghost a vicious chodakai - undead chodakai

I have spent all my time here since zone opened. I have done the page quest and have ring. I have saw gems 2, 3 and 4 drop many many times. (right tunnel without an exit on other side of castle), but never a Number 1 gem. Left hilt drops in entrance tunnels, rune and dull blade drop at balcony tunnel, however, nowhere in the whole zone have I saw a right hilt drop. I have cleared many times through the entire zone. Only mobs in tunnels seems to drop any quest items at all. So there is either a bug and the two items are not dropping, or there is some trick to get the first jewel and the right hilt. Any of you have same problem? Or any news on the subject?

We decided to check out chardok B last night, after zoning in we started killing mobs around the zone in and soon our ranger reported a named on track. Alas another group at the zone in pulled Krizznot Bonewalker to the zone in before we could find him, but they had to flee when it gated. It came back full health after us and we killed it. It dropped a Rock-Moulded Wristguard AC 30 +10 STR +25 HP/Mana +10 DR (magic lore wrist 2.0# small war/clr/pal/shd/brd All) it came from to the left of the zone in.
BTW the zone out looks like a huge grey flower with chains on it. Also the yellowish water/fluid doesn't cause any damage (or at least it didn't to me in water elemental form) it just looks dangerous.
A bit later we got a Sarnak Bracer of Victory (magic lore wrist AC 6 +10 STA +20 CHA + 30 30 rec level 55 2.5# small All/All) it was dropped by a sarnak weaponsmith in the 'castle'. We took the right path from the zone in and turned right again at the first intersection. We then went into a building with some stairs leading up to it to reach the weaponsmith and the rabid chodakai we killed.
After that we killed off a Rabid chodakai and got a very nice necklace, Spiritmaster War Beads. (magic lore neck AC 6 +25 HP/Mana +8 CR/MR Rec level 55 3.2# medium All/All EFFECT: FT II) We found it at the base of some stairs past a stone suspension bridge (for lack of a better way to describe it), later an iksar skeleton spawned in it's place.
Everything we killed gave the same faction hits, initially I thought there were 4 factions but it turned out that some of the mobs give the faction hits in a different order so at first glance it looks like different faction messages:
Your faction standing with Betrayers of Di`Zok got worse. Your faction standing with Brood of Di`Zok got better. Your faction standing with Followers of Korucust got worse.
Lots of new mobs all of the ones I considered were dark blue to me at 65, some mobs left 30 min corpses and some were even, yellow & red to a level 60 ranger:
a Shai`Din royal guard - live a Shai`Din scythemaster - live a sarnak weaponsmith - live A Shai`Din overseer - live
A sarnak haunt - undead A sarnak ghost - undead A ghostly servant - undead A reanimated sarnak - undead
a rabid chokidai - undead - grey stegosauruslike a ferocious chokidai - as above - lvl 57 to 60
A massive construct - big grey golem - Live
A domesticated chokidai - live - oddly both the live and undead chokidais drop chokidai hides
Krizznot Bonewalker - ghost sarnak - undead
Baelin Xir'Rixoan - Quest NPC - sarnak Skelly - conned indiff to everyone in group regardless of race, religion or faction with brood of di'zok.
Hope this helps, I'll try to post the text given by Baelin when he's given an entry, I didn't get all of it due to pulls and moving around to explore some more. We never got more than 3 at a time and even w/o a slower or crowd control it wasn't too bad, nothing seemed to hit harder than 300 except for named or some 60+ critters. The live stuff seemed easier to kill than the undead stuff except for the live named critters which are fairly tough.

There are 4 pages, Stone, Decay, Dust and Clay. I had 3 and was able to MQ the 4th page. I didn't get the name of the guy but he was one of the named Sarnak skellies, and he was deep in. If you hail him and follow the text you will be able to figure it out. When you hand in the pages a mob appears and starts whacking for quite a bit of damage. He hit mu 63 SK for 880 a few times. 2 Groups were able to take him down and he dropped a Heart of the Golem. I looted that and turned it in to the Snark Skelly that spawned him, and he gave me a very nice ring.
Golem Heart Ring AC 12, +20 STR, +15 STA, +10 WIS, +70 HP, +50 Mana No saves, all/all, no drop.
I don't have any other info about the other quests excpet that they may be broken, but those are rumors I am hearing from other players.

Okay i am really confused. I been soloing zone in and the undead behind bridge near zone in and all i get is Staff of Suffering 1 and 3. Where does staff 2 and 4 drops? and where do the gems drop. I have been all over the zone and have yet to see any.
#omac,
Posted:Jul 14 2003 at 10:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What about the various no drop loots here? Left Sword Hilt, various Pages (Decay, Stone, Clay) and staves of suffering. Anyone have any info on this stuff yet?
Collect the 4 pages and turn them into the quest NPC for an uber ring. Note: when you turn this ring in a mob spawns that hit our shaman doing the turn in for 1k...
Collect the 4 staves, turn them into the quest NPC and you get a jewel bag, collect the 4 gems to put in this bag..only had 3 gems so far so don't know the reward yet.
Don't know about the hilt yet..we only had the left hilt drop.
Also got a Rock Molded Wristgaurd (30 ac plate users), Chokidi Hide Boots (8 ac 15 sta 40 hp), an earring with see invis, a necklace with flowing thought II on it, these dropped off a Rabid Chokidi.
Clear the royal sanctuary gaurdians from his room first - they are easily single pulled without Korocust aggroing. They rampage, but arent too tough.
Korocust has a couple of AE's - the first one is really mean, Korocust's Vengeance. Few hundred health per tick and 150 mana. The second one is less health dmg, but spell slow. Casters were able to hide and avoid the AE's - they went off every 60 seconds or so. We had melees run in and engage, and then hide just before the AE.
His max melee hit was around 681 or so.
Korocust took on the form of whoever had the most aggro on him, in this case, our dwarf MA. It was pretty funny looking.
He didn't have a ton of hitpoints, and as long as the AE is avoided he can be beat down easily. Would bring at least 24-25 people, if you want to make it a sure thing, bring closer to 40 or however many want in on the fun. =-)
He dropped two items for us -
Dark Blade of the Shai'Din PRIMARY only 1hS 14 / 20 AC 15 / STR 10 / DEX 10 / WIS 12 / HP 75 / SVD 20 Effect: Siphon Rec lvl 58 WAR PAL RNG SHD BRD ROG
and
Soulsip Sceptre RANGE PRIMARY AC 10 / CHA 15 / WIS 8 / INT 8 / HP 60 / MANA 90 / SVF 20 Focus Effect: Spell Haste IV Rec lvl 58 CLR DRU SHM NEC WIZ MAG ENC
Quick raid, easy to clear to him, easy to take down.
Talibkweli 65 Transcendent Altruistic Valorians of Morelle Thule
Anyone else notice the funny similarity between his curses and the items he drops?
one curse is a manaseive and hp dot; one drop is a ring that adds hp and mana regen
second curse (or second part of the first curse) is increased casting time; second drop is a spell haste 4 item...
*Edit* I would bet that a third part to this curse is a slow of some type...anyone notice any melee slowing? reason I say this is because he also has some 36% haste neck slot drop too...
Took him down the other night. About 40 in raid ranging from late 50's to 65. Had an elemental pali tanking. I died to AE but heres what i learned from the fight. he leads with his nasty curse Korucust's Vengence ( http://lucy.fnord.net/spell.html?id=4015&source=Live ) which has a decent recast on it. He melee's pretty weak upper 600's. And he changes forms. Popular theroy is what hes meleeing but i swear i saw a dwarven ghost in there.
possible strats... kinda reminds me of grummus, send someone in to set off his initial ae. DPS him down before he sets it off again. Try to MGB SotW and Cleric heals when possible. He casted another AE during the fight can't remember what it was. As far as i know we didn't have any resists. Oh and the right wall was kinda buggy, we had him down to 7% and he warped to zone in summoned tank and warped back to raid after a few seconds still like 800dmg in dots to those of us at fight spot and owned the tank at zone in.
We killed him last night on Bristlebane server. Had several groups of mostly 65. He is definately not perma rooted and if your main tank doesn't get aggro, he will pingpong around the room and kill everyone. He has two AOE's. The first seems to be a DOT that hits for 1600 and the other is a manasieve that also causes spells to take longer to cast...much longer. Have your pally's use their group heals and Hand of the Crusader to remove the curse.
Last night we were all ready to take him down, and since all were under the impression he was perma rooted.
Chanter cast a debuff (tash or whatever debuff chanter have at 60, cant recall the name)while at the top of stairs, a good distance from Korocust.
Well we found out the hard way he is not perma rooted. Ran across the room, killed the chanter and half a dozen people before MT finaly got agro, but by then was to late.
There is also a room with 4 sarnaks reincarnators (can't remember exact name) with a sarnak corpse on an alter. every few minutes they seem to reincarnate that corpse to a ghost type mob (betrayer, servant etc.) And when you kill one, you get a forboding mesage about the magic weakening and you don't know how it might affect anything.. well after killing all four nighting special happened... in fact the room gives the same emote of the sarnaks in deep meditation (even tho there are none)
is it broken? there for just atmosphere? or is there more to it?
The 4 mobs in that form the "circle" spawn the ghosts as if they are resurecting them. My group spent 15 hours there one day. After killing the resurrectionists for a couple hours we noticed that no ghosts were appearing. So we left the 4 to spawn. The idea is clear...break the "circle" and the unknown effect is no more ghosts. Once all 4 returned they started spawning ghosts.
They seem to spawn them in bunches and you definately need a monk to split them if you dont want to wait for them to path. If you opt to wait for them to path to you in a neighboring room you will usually end up with 2 or 3 at a time. You'll also have to wait until they decide to move which could slow the spawn rate if your killing them to get the named mob.
The 4 resurectionists do not aggro nor do you lose faction killing them but the ghosts they spawn will aggro you and if you are near the resurectionists they will assist the ghost. Have a monk pull the ghosts and FD then wait for the resurectionists to leave and tag and ghosts.
My guild found this room last Monday night and we tried to see if we could kill all 4 of the "a sarnak resurrectionist" to get something interesting and we found that even with most of them up or all of them up the central pad keeps spawning ghosts. I think it makes new ones as the older ones get killed off, after a min or so the pop starts to wander the castle, I think it wanders from the reincarnator room across the castle thru Baelin's room and to the long room east of his room (that would explain the two named ghosts jumping us back to back in the previous week). Monday there was another group behind us at the back ramparts that was killing them as they wandered past their camp. We got both of the named ghosts and two of them were Brodisek, sadly he didn't drop his channeling ring either time.
Note: There appears to be two seperate groups of them (a sarnak resurrectionist). One is past the castle steps in a small structure against the cavern wall and the other is part of the castle itself and past the balcony/ramparts. When you're in the odd shaped room that leads to the stone suspension bridge on the way to the kennel you can hear the freshly spawned ghosts thru the walls.

They are called sarnak resurrectionsts, and we were trying to work that room yesterday. They con indifferent, collaboration made them amiable, but they don't respond to hails. They give no faction hits.
Here's what we noticed: 1. After all four are killed, a ghost mob spawns in the room middle every 3-4 minutes. We got: spectral betrayer, ghostly servant, sarnak haunt.
2. As soon as a resurrectionist repopped, we decided to wait. Ghosts stopped spawning in the middle.
3. We decided to see what happens when all 4 resurrectionists repop, but the fourth one would not respawn.
4. We decided to kill the three present resurrectionists again - as soon as third died, 4th one popped up.
At this point it was getting late, so we gated out. Still not sure how that room works. Possibly if you keep all four resurrectionists down, you'll keep getting ghosts, and eventually can get a named one.

You can invis yourself past all the undead mobs, the skeletons, the spectres.. but the chokadai see invis because of the undead portion.
the undead creatures will raise chardok faction, but the sarnaks in the castle will lower it again, (they also both RAISE and LOWER Betrayer's of Chardok Faction. you get both hits when you kill one)
Korocust does NOT hit on average for 300's.. he hits for a maximum of 700, partially mitigates slow, and likes to turn himself into whoever has his agro (he turned himself into a female human monk with a shroud of longevity, Primal Velium Fistwrap and Waning Light Katar when I tanked him yesterday.
Not responding to flame you, just to correct your incorrect correction :p Korocust can well indeed hit for only 300 when the warrior has engaged his/her defensive disc, like Churayen said he had, plz read the WHOLE message before trying to correct someone :)
Melees in the 2 to 300's on average on 65 war raid buffed using defensive, and rampages. He has a 1600hp single target DD proc unknown resist check, it says "You feel your skin sweltering towards death. You have taken 1600 points of damage." Not sure if it's unresistable, but everyone that got hit by it took 1600 dmg.
He's inside the castle in a room with 6 royal guards. Not sure on his Hit Points, but it's nothing special. Bard got a partial slow off, shaman ate it on first resist.
NOTE: He changes into an illusion of whoever is tanking him at the moment. VERY VERY confusing at first.
most defen not perm rooted we were preping to kill him at door just reforming groups after killing off his guards when necro tried to go up and FD him to get his proc to go off which lead to his AoE spell going off and hitting us at door argoing the pets and they died before we could even get up and then he ran down to us and wiped party. he does illision into MA and after everyone was dead then walked back to his spawn site.

he's definitely not permarooted anymore cause he got up and ran after the shammy whose slow was resisted, then changed illusion to look just like the poor guy lol. also his hps just got buffed up too, but his guards are still very easy to single pull away w/o him aggroing. then you can prep inside his room at the base of the stairs w/o worrying about respawns or pats. just remember this guy rampages so get a non MT war to arrow his ass and have a healer watch his health. otherwise theres gonna be some dead dps classes =P
Killed 1 named that droped an INT cast only 6ac 10cha 15int 50hps (I think 50, maybe more) and other stats range/piercer item. We killed him as he wandered by the zone in.
The only other group in the zone killed another named who dropped a 30ac 15str and stats bracer that was for CLR, PAL, SK and a few other classes.
Lotta dead ends, all mobs we killed were dark blue to 63, hit like wusses when slowed and love to add if you setup camp in the wrong spot.
