Found a named mob that wasn't posted don't know much about it other then name but is Indifferent to me when most everything in zone is KOS to me. The name is Cyribelle The Wild and is a spawned Potameid. Also, A Potameid Guardian drops Plant Shoots.

On July 25, 2005 a friend and I were hunting and heard a zone-wide emote. The message was that someone had entrapped another and was taking them away. Later another zone-wide emote was heard. The is an extract of the message. Figgle Bin'Bon now has dark elf and gnome parts and wants ogre parts. He (?) is making a stew in preparation for dinner with Xerkizh the Creator.
I was just curios and headed over to the area marked on my map as a sealed zone. I found a wood elf female standing at the entrance named Pemwenia Dagor. When hailed she just said she was waiting for someone important. She's not on mob list so thought I'de post.
Bunch of gnolls came in and wiped out the fort, and everyone was taken place by a gnoll dunno if this is on a timer, or just a little event, but I logged in, got smacked to 8% health and ran to portal, came back in, thes gnolls took quite a beating before dieing. All gnolls blue to 49
I also have seen this happen. I don't know where the gnolls came from, but they were attacking the settlers near the portal to Surefall and were RED to a level 35. I had SoW and was able to run to the Basilisk Cave area and everything there was normal.
the Gnolls raid because of the 5th qeynos badge quest. Supposedly you are to keep the gnolls from wiping out the village, but most people just watch the slaughter. The quest can be completed whether the village is saved or not. You guys just happened in in the middle of it.
This "gnoll raid" or "gnoll war" Occurs when you kill: Barducks Darkpaw Regardless of working on the quest. if you kill him and loot all his items the "war"/"raid" will happen shortly after. I am unsure about if leaving the head on his corpse or if looting it is part of the trigger as I just always looted all and destroyed the head when I was XPing there a long time ago.
V/R, Wyre Wintermute (yes I noted that this last reply is almost a year in following, just thought I'd put out the info if anyone was looking)
Ran across Ranusyll Skyspeed near the Surefall stone in Jaggedpine today. Human female in chain armor. Conned dark blue, indifferent to my 58 Brell warrior. Didn't respond to my hails either.
Ran across Ganatru Mythmoor in Jaggedpine today. Conned indifferent and wouldn't reply to hails by my 58 warrior. Might be related to ranger or druid epic 2.0. NPC was a human male in leather armor and was located by the western branch of the dried riverbed.
Here is a list of "Dire" animals I have found. A Dire Panda- Stonebrunt Mountains A Dire Leech- Swamp of No Hope A Dire Griffon- North Karana A Dire Kodiak- Jagged Pine
These are all level 65 and con indifferent. I hope this helps with some puzzle pieces. Rangers had to find 6 sick animals. I would assume there are 2 other dire animals out there to add to this list. Possibly druid epic? I haven't found any epic information linked to them yet.

With the named poachers, be very careful of the assorted timber griffs that seem to randomly move all over the place in the area. Just tonight I had Zeb and Reynald KS'd back to back by a griff that arrived after I had bow-kited the poacher down to under 30%. I'm pretty furious about that, this is an annoying and long spawn to try and get all four. I tried pulling them to places where the griffs hadn't previously gone, and they just went out of their way to fly from their pathing to come get my pull.
Speaking of pulling, the poachers are very easy to bow kite if you keep the griffs away. Ensnare, DoT, bow kite to where you want them, and either run in circles or just root them in place and turn them into pin cushions. At the times I had my kills taken, I had each poacher under 30% and I hadn't yet taken a single point of damage.
Im a Bst of 51 seasons and i can easily solo this camp... yes the whole camp. I find that normally the poachers dont add so its a single kill each time.I think in all the times i hunted here i have had possible 2-3 poachers adding. As for griffs KS'ing i never had that problem. I pull towards the river and just stand and fight there.. some run at 20% others stand til they fall.

I was hunting in Jaggedpine tonight with my 54 level druid and saw her name on track. I tracked her to the river, but I didn't see her running around on land so she must have been in the water.
Does anyone have any information about her? I didn't see her name listed above, but then I am tired an might have missed it.
Back when I hunted exclusively in Jaggedpine, I saw her on track, green as you said, and went to kill her. Dove into the river and shot an arrow, just one. Hit her for around 40 damage and she died. Dropped nothing but hair.
Hehe... If you come through the bb teleporter you wind up in the middle of the Splitpaw Temple. Ok everybody knew that already but I cam there with my Necro and expecting to be KoS (I'm always KoS) I went invis. But of course the invis spell wore off right in front of the named Splitpaw (cant remember name right now) This was when I was pretty low lvl. I thought Ok... free teleport to the PoK in about five seconds but it turned out that the Splitpaws were all Amiable to me, a DE, I have no clue if this is normal but I got killed when I went there with my pally. Maybe its just for evil classes/races. Whatever...
Guardians, maidens and wildings all seem to spawn @ the North end of the river ( from the blocked tunnel North ). I've been working them for a week or so and can solo w/ only minor problems. As a 53 Nec w/ Jboots always up, I'm DMF'd w/ my 49 pet buffed. Leave pet on the west bank of the river. These critters seem to have a decent agro radius (you can draw agro from a potameid in the river if you're standing on the bank). Also, I've had trouble DoTing them while they are under water.
Once you have their agro bring back for pet to tank. I only 1 you can do Envenomed Bolt(EvB) and BoD. Then to save my pet I'll tank as long as my BoD holds up. This doesn't last for too many pulls if you're on KEI as opposed to Lich w/ AA's in Regen. I would not recommend pulling if less than 50% mana.
If multiple pulls, hit each w/ Splurt while pet is tanking. Pick one in particular for BoD and EvB and agro kite it. This will take 1 off your pet. If pet is at full health(w/ AD) when starting, you should be fine.
You had problems dotting them under water only because you were over water... Let me explain : ANY spell a PC cast on ANY target will not land if you both are not on the same "side" of water. If someone casts a buff on you while you are underwater, you will see the message "soandso tries to cast a spell on you, but you are protected". Surface of water acts as a shield for magic (dont know if works the same way for waterfalls also). Note that even if your breathe meter doesnt pop up AND surface of water is above half you line of sight AND your target is totally under water, your spell will land. The "watershield" only works with magic, you can pull potameids with arrows, no matter if you are on shore or under water.
Awesome zone for bards. Most people steer clear of here cuz they aren't friendly with animals, but just use the faction song on one them and it puts you up to dubious with all of them so they won't aggro.
I only came here at 51 and tried the potameids. They are very rarely camped becuase they are unsnarable, which means druids, necros, and rangers wouldn't wany anything to do with em really. They also run very fast. Not a problem for bards though. Selo outruns them easily (especially with Selo's drums of the march or better). So you just jump in the river and then let them aggro you. Have Aria's eagle song up so you can get out of the water fast. Once on shore, you can charm kite as many as you have. Don't get caught! These things hit fast and hard and our snare/slow songs won't work. There's a good chance they could even kill you if you have 4 of them and you get stunned. But its good exp and they don't have a huge amount of hp.
Not a very dangerous zone overall. The only thing that should kill you is the lag. I have to stay in first person mode and look slightly down when I kite. You get used to it fast. At 52 I'm done with the pots and I'm camping the poachers. One of the named there (Zed i think) drops a half elf illusion mask. Its no drop and bard/rogue only, but he's a pretty rare spawn. I've only killed him once in about 5 hours and he didn't have the mask. There are a bunch of other named poachers but they don't drop anything too good unfortuneatly. I'm only doing the camp for the mask. Most of them are light blue but its decent AA exp. Bards could prolly solo the camp at 50 or so.

hello, i was just curious as to why this zone is almost always empty. I have hunted here for several levels and rarely have there been more than 2 or 3 people in zone. The exp from the griffs is good and the loot is usually around 5 plat a griff. Am I wasting my time here when I could be in a different zone leveling faster?. Just curious.

if the lag is resulted from the graphic and irrelevant to bad connection, it must be similar to what I used to experience in PoK, and will be solved by upgrading your graphic adapter to GeForce 4 or higher.
i think there's something else that makes this zone not so popular. Such as being too far away from the nearest PoK bookstand, or maybe overly filled with angry animals that threatens one's faction with the friendly Jaggedpine folks.
this is a great zone for novice bakers to hone up their cooking skill from 1 to 135, for one can purchase unlimited bat wings and fresh fishes and frostings without leaving the same building (Jaggedpine bank). of course you have to bring your own spit, and watch out for the massacre activated by a successful darkpaw king raid.

Anacondas are easily the better pets. 1 cycle of Winged Death, Breath of Ro, and Drones of Doom with Extended Affliction 3 gets a Timber Griffon down to about 10% hp (give or take a couple). The same cycle only takes an Anaconda down to about 35%. This is true, regardless of what level they spawn as. Even the lowest possible level Anaconda will take an extra Winged Death and Drones of Doom to finish off, while even the highest level Griffon will only need an extra Drones of Doom. That's a signifigant difference in hp.
Also, according to my logs, the max I've ever been hit for by a Timber Griffon is 104. The max I've ever been hit for by an Anaconda is 113.
The anacondas seem like a good idea because they poison relatively often, but the griffs have a much higher damage output. So go for a Griffon and if at all possible, the named to really make that DC count.
Its a rough call either way, both are about the same lvl. But it varies, Annacondas dont hit quite as hard in my experience but are harder to kill. More hp most likely or maybe just higher regen rate, being lizards and all. Like the Iksar, Only flatter.
I'm pretty sure that the snakes are always higher level. My 55 druid's been hunting here for quite a while and the rare griffon will be dark blue, while ALL of the annacondas are. And the annacondas seem to have roughly 2k more health than the tougher griffons. I'd go with the snakes w/o question, but... that's me.
Try using a temp charm and experiment some. You'll see what I mean.
You can come here as early as 30 or so to kill basilisks, although most folks will find soloing them hard at that level, and pickup groups are rare here at those levels. Bring a partner and you'll be fine at 30 or even a bit lower.

ok sounds like a great zone for me to fight in someday but for now can anyone tell me if a lvl 22 ranger can survive in here long enough to buy some CHEESE and if ya can loc and name of the guy that sells it one more stupid question how do i open a optional zone too make it avalable to enter??
I don't think the cheese is normally sold at the vendors by the zone portal. Someone may have sold some off there. The place I have found cheese though, is from the good gnoll vendors. Head West from the zone in just a few paces and you will be at the zone wall. Now head South for a while where you will come along a cave. The good gnolls live in here, my faction started at apprehensive with them. Chef Brargus sells the cheese. He is in one of the 3 small rooms if you follow the left side of the cave around. #9 on EQAtlas.com As a ranger, you shouldn't run into any problems getting there, because there are only animals between the zone in and the cave. Good Luck
I am sorry I dont remember the name of the food vendor, however he is in the second building with the banker just as you zone in from the Surefall zone. The area around the town and orb where you zone in is pretty safe as long as faction is good. Killing one of the named gnolls spawns an attack on the town and this would be the only time you might have trouble but that is a very rare event.
All I know is if you are a ranger and have killed no animals this zone should be pretty benign/ However, being a tailor mayself, I established a wonderful train when I entered this zone. It was actually somewhat amusing having such a variety of bestiary chasing me....the damn panthers are hella fast. Finally found the teleporter and zoned out. Whew!
The merchant who sells the cheese is just to the right of the Banker. I think his last name is Darkcloud. You could easily track him from the zone-in point. You should be safe in JP because you are a ranger (assuming that you haven't done anything to destroy animal faction). There should be no problem zoning in (right there at the fort - where the guards and merchants are), buying the cheese, and zoning back to SFG. Hope this helps.
Sorry not sure where the CHEESE is. But I can help ya with the optional zone thing. Make sure you have autoplay UN-clicked. when it is done checking for downloads click on the advanced button in bottom right corner. In there make sure optional zones has a check mark in the box beside it. Then click save. It will start downloading any optional zone stuff. When it is done click play and enter game. Go to SFG in the bear caves find a gem on top of a stick and click on it. This gets you into the zone. So you don't have to turn them on. As soon as you download them they are there waiting for you to explore. Hope this helps ya, but if not /shrug I tried.
Killing Poachers Doesn't help. The faction listed when you kill a Panther, Bear or Wolf in Jaggedpine is already set to max negative even for a Karana worshipping druid.
This is not the faction they use to determine agression. They attack or don't based on QRGProtected Animals faction. You can raise this through 2 quests listed on this site.
I verified the QRG agression with my Dark Elven necromancer who spent a good deal of time working his way out of KOS to QRG-P-A.
NOTE : Evils and Treant killers will have a lot of faction work before they're able to do the 2 quests listed above, so don't expect this to be an easy task.
Rangers and druids have (or supposed to have) an unchangable faction of amiable with animals. But in Jagged Pines, you can loose faction. So to be sure that you don't die everytime an animal walks by, leave them alone.
The animals in JP are on the same faction as the ones in Surefall. Killing any of the animals (in either zone) decreases your faction with all the animals in both zones, plus Surefall Ranger and Druid guilds, and Jaggedpine Residents as well.
With other animals anywhere, one's faction with them doesn't change when killing an animal. Whether good or bad, it stays the same - of course, other animals and animal-loving NPCs like Druids do assist their furry friends.
BTW, as an enchanter, Spirit Wolf form made me non-KOS to the animals here.
killed a named griffon (goldentalon) had a boat load of hitpoints and hit 105 ish did not aggro on me. bout killed me tho, thank you to angeline(sp?) for your help again he dropped:

Can someone tell me where to find a map? I am doing a decent job making one for myself but I cant wait for EQATLAS to finish one for this zone.
To cut down on so many posts I am just editting the same one. Thanks for the help with the map locations but I am wondering why so many people down rated my request for a map...sigh.
There are 2 quests that I know of to raise QRG protected animals.. wolves, bears, ect.. Gharin's Note (Good) in Qeynos South given by Gharin & Nesiff's Statue in Surefall Glade given by Vesteri Nomanoi.

Anyone knows where Jerg Oakenfist spawns? Has he got a placeholder? Loc? Lvl? how often does he spawn and how often does he drop gloves? Tell me everything you know =)
No idea where he spawns, but was on track from the zone in from SFG and running around nearby. Guy is quite tough to solo, as a 53 bard he conned even and I could barely keep ahead of him with selos, so I assume hes spirit of cheetah speed. Called in a little help from a 53 druid and 56 pally, and eventually took him down dot kiting, druid WDing and pally meleeing from behind. Very tough as he took about 4-5 WD's cast drones of doom, fury of air and heals repeatedly and hits in the 150's range on someone with around 925ac.
Dropped the oakenfist gloves: 11ac 10str 30mana 15MR recommended level of 45, all races priest/true casters as well as rangers and beastlords.
Also dropped Gnoll pitfighter handwraps, lore item no rent, mnk/bst only...... cant seem to find any info as to what they are used for and hope my guildmates can as I had to log.
Any info would be appreciated about the handwraps.
Just a quick note: the levels for Wildlings and Maidens posted here are reversed. Just dinged 54 this weekend there (thank you, thank you), and the Maidens are all now light blue to me, while the Wildlings are dark blue. Sorien 54 Druid Zeb
Whoever started the rumor that this was a Low to Mid Level Zone , obviously had no clue as to what they were talking about.
I'm Currently 54 , and with a Group of 3 , can make some insane exp in a short amount of time, especially for 54.
Most the Mobs con Dark Blue to me with a few Light Blue.
The tanks that I've been hunting with (58 Ranger, occasionally 59 bard) both say that there are still a good number of Dark Blue mobs for them, and alot of light blue , which make for some easy solo'ing .
It ain't velks , cause it doesn't have the Gem drops, or the Great Item drops , and most of the Items that are even worth something are either LORE , or NO DROP . However if your after some good EXP , and a little bit of Coin Cash this is the place that you wanna be.
ok i have killed gobes of gnoles... its been a lot of fun and i am up to amiable with all the town npc's but here is my problem... i am kos to the animals in this zone... the getting agro every time i run around and taking neg hits ( both the residents and animals ) is getting old... anyone kill anything in zone yet that gives pos faction to critters of jagged pine?
