  • HP Estimate: 1.75 million
  • Single-Target Rampages: Yes

In the Plane of Shadow: Located in the palace entrance room, just north of the zone-in area. For all things Rain of Fear, check out this overview of the expansion.

nope, thats not loot, it is the result of a quest with the Soul Essence of Aten Ha Ra, close but this item doesn't actually drop off her

I am confused, are Aten Ha Ra, and the other Ha Ra guy different? Or what?
RE: Confused

Aten Ha Ra and Akel Ha Ra are two different people. Awhile back, the Akhevians had a civil war. The leaders of the two sides were Aten and Akel Ha Ra. After a lot of fighting, Aten Ha Ra summoned the Maiden's Scar, a HUGE storm over the old Akheva city of Ka Vethan (that's the Akheva Ruins). Akel Ha Ra and most of her followers were killed and Ka Vethan was destroyed, while Aten Ha Ra and her followers escaped and built the new Akheva city, Vex Thal. The survivors of Akel Ha Ra's followers stayed in the ruins of Ka Vethan, presumably to find a way to ressurect Akel Ha Ra and get revenge on Aten's followers. The punch line? The whole civil war started because Akel's followers wanted to learn to speak Common. Silly Akhevians!

Officers of the guild decide who would put said item to best use. /Randoming is out of the question because people have found ways to cheat.

# Jul 02 2002 at 10:12 AM Rating: Default
How on earth do you cheat while randoming? That is crazy, and if you have guildies cheating then there is a real problem there

Raiding

I have noticed some posts regarding, this weapon/armor is uber blah blah blah, but even if a guild with class x could take down the mob class x would never get it cause it would go to class y. I am not a newb, but am a casual player with several characters in the mid 20's. I am actually wondering about how guilds like those able to take down these mobs distribute loot. As I have understood it they assign points to all of their members based on participation in guild events, and general service to the guild. If a player has the most points and wants the item they get it, no questions asked end of story. Before you flame me saying I am wrong let me say that I make no claim to being right. This is what I have been told, but if you have EXPERIENCED or WITNESSED different please post how it really works. Also don't post about how I could never hope to get in here my characters aren't high enough level. I am well aware of that already and that wasn't my question.
RE: Raiding
# Jul 10 2002 at 11:07 PM Rating: Default
Some guilds also make their members create a magelo profile so that the Gl and officers always can keep up with who needs the item. And ppl in a guild SHOULD be able to trust each other, this is sadly not always the case, so this might not be the best system.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 05 2002 at 2:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ummm, NO. In a guild or multi guild raid there is a common way to split the loot, it is call the /random command. If a mob drops a pure caster item, then all the pure casters that want said item do a /random ##, ##. The one with the highest ## wins. This is the only true and fair way to do it in my oppion.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 05 2002 at 6:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ummm , NO yourself. Thats for peoples around lvl 20 hunting in Kunark. In high lvl guild raids if they give away an item because of a /random that guild should be smacked. A point system is the way most guilds do it and it is a lot more fair than your little /random. Another common looting strategy is who helped most in that particular guild raid (cleric's love this) gets the loot. Ya understand?
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 05 2002 at 4:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK, balloonhead, /random might be the way you and your lvl 30 friends distribute loot when you're raiding Upper Guk, but 99% of all end game guilds use a point system. You do indeed accumulate points through service to the guild (raid attendance, off duty guildmember porting if you're a wiz, ressing if you're a cleric, etc.). THIS is the only real fair way to determine who gets what loot. The more you give to the guild, the more you get back in terms of loot.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 05 2002 at 7:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Acctually not all high end Guilds use a point system, but randoming is definitly out of the picture in situations like this. DoV and the Alliance have loot determined by a commitee of officers. Although guild service is definitly a factor in their decision. In short, know what your guild's method for deciding loot is, and work within it's rules. Also just because you are a casual player now at lvl 20 doesn't mean you won't be 60 next year.
RE: Raiding
# Jun 05 2002 at 7:04 PM Rating: Default
in most of the raids held, if they aren't held in chaos, of course, loot will be distributed to the according class(es), most of the time with the "need before greed". There are some modifications sometimes. Loot may be accorded to someone before the raid starts, raid invites might be the last ones who possibly get loot. It all depends on the leader(s) preferences. Some random ****** said class X items will go to class y. NO! Can you tell me why they would give a 50int cloak, wizard only, no drop (yeah! most of the gear is no drop at that point) to warriors who can't even use it? it wont happen. Stop raiding blackburrow and raid something else heh.
RE: Raiding
# Jun 05 2002 at 8:29 PM Rating: Default
High end guilds use a point system, if not members will leave for the guild that doesn't promote favoritism or uses hacks to get high rolls .. i know the hack thing sounds rediculous, but its been something that people say when they don't roll the item they want, people can be retarded so a point system is used ... you get as much as you put in and thats it and its fair and everyone complaining is a whiner.
ALL guilds should use a point system for raids, regardless their size , you won't regret the tiny bit of extra work, i promise ,)

btw, need before greed is stupid, its too easy to fake and moral values suck these days =p

RE: Raiding
# Jun 05 2002 at 8:48 PM Rating: Default
Point system also gives a larger turn out, esp when its a place that some people/classes don't care about raiding , they'll go for the points... the loot officer will asign a "value" to loots, points are used to "buy" loots for either their Main,Alt, or even twink .. and yes, this is the fairest way.
also i agree , need before greed doesn't work anymore because greed will ALWAYS come before need and greed means replaceing the uber back slot with the crappy one in their bp so that you can loot the new one, its a quick 300pp or a quick 3k ... there are alot of alt chars that are created just to do this in groups ... NEVER use "need before greed" ... EVER!!!! ESPECIALLY in small groups!!!!!!!

/random is still good though for groups, i've never heard of any hacks, but i do wonder with some people =/

RE: Raiding
# Jun 05 2002 at 10:42 PM Rating: Default
actually, my guild uses a loot system that involves randoming, but is also NBG and whoever helps most gets it. what we do is see who actually needs the loot that raids with us often, and allow them to roll their level X 10 by 1000 (a level 60 would be /random 600 1000, for instance). whoever of the few that are able to roll that gets the highest roll gets the loot. if someone already gets something that day, then they will most likely not get another item, but they could get lucky.
Facts?
# Jun 05 2002 at 11:25 AM Rating: Default
Chill, if we've had 3 guilds already claiming to have slain her (Fires of Heaven, Afterlife, and Trinton, not neccisarily in chronological order), then let's hear something.
Any estimates on HP?
Average melee damage?
Was there a damage shield or anything to debuff?
How hard was it for melees to land blows on her?
Assuming she has spells,
nukes? HP? AoEs?
heals? % her health?
Fears? AoEs?
DoTs? AoEs?
Though I doubt my guild can take her alone, well, know why can't <sigh>, it might be nice to have a joint guild raid. It'll be nice to know some info. If you think I'm blowing steam, humor me.

Anyways, peace ppl, if anyone can anyswer any of my questions, I'ld appriecate it. I'll be back to /rude you if you attach mean replies! (just messin) =)

Thing is, the more high-end guilds get, the more competetive they get. Once they figure stuff out on a mob like this, who I presume to be the boss of the Luclin expansion, they are NOT telling. I've heard tales of people talking w/, say, someone from FoH and they were such jerks it was almost funny. If you are in a guild and you snitch when you're not supposed to, expect your name to become a curse word. Kind of too bad, but it keeps an air of power and mystery. But if you want an example of what this mob can likely do...

Aten Ha Ra begins to cast a spell.
Aten Ha Ra lifts you up and breaks you in half over her knee!
YOU are hit by non-melee for 9999 points of damage.
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...

BTW, how do we know this mob is a she? So far it's questionable that centiens that I've seen have a gender, but they do look vaguely male.
Oh yeah, once I hit 60, I'd be glad to go on that raid ). First I have to graduate TO Vox & Naggy raids, as I am level 31 as of press time.

Quest. Where does it start?
# Jun 04 2002 at 4:36 AM Rating: Decent
Props go to the guilds that have killed Aten Ha RA. I saw a blurb where in FoH, an item dropped by Aten is for a quest. I am wondering, where does the quest begin and who give it out?

RE: Quest. Where does it start?
# Jun 04 2002 at 9:06 AM Rating: Decent
Starts in akheva ruins. Spirit of Aten ha ra or something i believe.
RE: Quest. Where does it start?
# Jun 05 2002 at 10:36 PM Rating: Default
Actually that quest is to get the sceptre of shadows(VT key), the start of the talisman quest(Soul of Aten Ha Ra item) is the remains of Vah Kerrath in Umbral Plains as stated by Furor on the main page.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 05 2002 at 10:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Who cares????
RE: my first post!!
# Jun 05 2002 at 8:07 PM Rating: Default
there are a few guilds claiming to have killed her first ... Afterlife was the first to document it and do it properly, so if these other guilds did it, where's the proof (screenshots, loots, info on zone, ect ect ect) ... Afterlife did this first, any other guild claiming to have done it first will just look like sorry liars whether they did so or not... thats how the world works (period)

Btw, Grats Afterlife on being first, hope to follow your footsteps soon ,)
