I killed the cougar after map turn in. It didnt drop anything. What was the point in that I wonder.

A Rabid Cougar spawns instantly after you turn in the Pieces of the Iceclad Map (for the Eye Patch of Plunder quest) to a Lost Pirate. He will return a Completed map to you and this little devil will spawn behind him and whack him.
I didn't even take the time to save him, I just shrugged (completed map in hand), killed this cougar, and finished my quest. This Cougar was light blue to me at 48.
