when the tainted barracuda spawned it was white to me at lv 46 with my druid....corrupted popped as usual after it died.

coords below for #1, #2, and #3 are accurate and you should only camp those 3 coords.

Thanks to the below posts, was very helpful.
I started without reading the posts for the first two hours as I was working on another computer so just killing the spawn at the 40sec spot as it respawned (which you dont do) had no luck as to be expected.

After reading the below posts I marked the three location on my map
-824, 143.............6 min
-900, -830............6 min
-1351, -761..........6 min
as per beregond's post

Also barkwillow listed them if you want to add them to your map txt file to appear automatically

This makes it easy to travel to each location and wait there for the spawn. I went to the three location killing the PH's in an anti-clockwise direction (this doesn't matter you can go to them in any order)
took about 3-4hours, also had killed 5 tainted before the six tainted spawned the corrupted.

It spawned for me on loc -824, 143
Also it was the same as another person said, all the previous tainted conned grey to me, this six one conned green at level 63 (so was a higher mob than the prev)
good luck..

Killed 4 deepwaters and 1 bloodgill and got tainted to pop. Conned green to level 64, killed tainted and corrupted spawned only conned gray? Dropped my water and now I only have Faydedar to kill then this epic is FINALLY over!

Hardest kill: Corrupted Seahorse (zone is crazy spawned in wrong Loc found by tracking, uses complete heal ran out of mana) or Ulump Puljuk (resists a lot ran out of mana chased him across zone for 15 mins to take off last 8% health)

Longest Spawn: Corrupted Shaman (Two logons at 2 hours a pop)

Most Annoying Part: Foraging (multiple zones)

Worst Part: Not killing the Dark Elf Corrupter fast enough and having to do first part of epic all over.

Was it worth it? Sure why not HAHHAAAHA

The Corrupted was dark blue to me at 44 and was a bit tougher than the regular barracudas so I'd put him in the early 40s but definitely not 44 all the time.

I cannot speak for everyone out there, but I seem to have swam faster in Wolf Form.

I *hated* this part of the epic. I think I was under water for close to 6 hours, swimming from fish to fish. At some point, it goes from challenging to stupid. Throw in a false tainted and I was ready to kill someone by the time the corrupted actually popped.

I did this today, here are my observations:

There are eight deepwaters but only three are of interest. Start with the 'cuda at loc -824, +143. Then swim SE to loc -1351, -761, then North to loc -900, -830, and finally swim West back to loc -824, +143. This will take about 3 mins, so wait for 3 mins for the fish to pop and repeat the cycle.

The fish are on 6 min timers and when a fish pops it has aprox 95% chance of being a deepwater, if it's not a deepwater then there is an equal chance of it being a bloodgill, a low level tainted or a high level tainted (numbers are estimated)

This gives you an overall chance of 1 in 20 (5%) of getting a tainted each time you kill all three deepwaters as above. So, on average it will take about two hours to get your corrupted. But it's random like roulette. you could get lucky on your first pop - or it could take you days - but if you stick to the method above, you will get lucky eventually.

Ok i will say this, in one of the posts yes this is prob the hardest part of the epic, i say this because if you do not stick to the 3 locations (in other words if u do not stick to the 3 corrupted fishes popin at least 5 mins u will not get the tainted's to pop i spent 2 days nuking 1 of the 5 mins pop's and got nothing). I finish to save u alot of time stick to the 3 loc's

Just an update for you folks hunting them..
The three locations listed for the spawns are the right ones.
But heres the kicker. got the tainteds to spawn 4 times before i got a currupted to follow.
At lvl 60 the ones that didn't con to me did NOT spawn a corrupted. I had to wait till, after 2 hours, a light blue one popped. That spawned a corrupted that was green. And that one does not summon. is root/snareable and dropped my lakewater.

Thought you might like the update..

Had the tainted pop -1351, -761 dunno how long spawn was because I was killing all the spots but the corpse of the PH was still there lol. Was the first one I had pop and was hunting it for about 30 minutes. Just root rotted like all the other tainted mobs in epic. Was scared it would be fake tainted and when it died...out came corrupted so guess I was lucky. I did not pull it on land or any such nonsense.

Okay so Ive gotten 4 tainted at the loc -900, -900 spawn point and one at another spawn point and all have been fake, I dot then try to pull them to shore and none will follow. I thought the -900, -900 spawn was suppose to give the real tainted every time....not take at least 5 tainted....is it broken?

It's not broken... nor do you have to pull the mob up onto the beach... the only tainted that will spawn the corrupted is a higher level than the others... I'm not sure which level but if the tainted is green or light green... and no corrupted spawns... that means a dark blue one will be the one you want. Mine took a few tainted... and the -900 loc is the one that has the best chance in my opinion by what I've experienced over the years.

It took me about 2 hrs to do this. Me lvl 56 and a 50 chanter. The tainted spawned at -900 -900. We hunted every deepwater barracuda on track until the tainted spawned. It can be done solo but the fishies are bad about interupting your casting if you are just trying to blast away and it was a good chance to chat with a friend so the back up was nice. I pulled the tainted on land and rooted...it broke my root. When the corrupted poped I rooted it and the root held. I got lucky and only had to kill one tainted to get the corrupted.

This is probably one of(if not the)most annoying camp(s) in the entire epic.

Here is what you do to spawn him:

A little southeast of the Veksar ent ruins is a barracuda that is on a 5 min spawn timer. Repeatedly kill it until tainted spawns. This tainted WILL spawn the corrupted! It is not false, as I spent DAYS camping this sucker and came across the false tainted in several other spawn locations. I'm not good with loc myself, all I can say is head a southeast of the Veksar ent ruins and find the lone cuda. This camp isn't so bad, once you know what to do. I spent days trying to spawn the tainted at other locations and always wound up with a false one. After about twenty minutes after me and a 58 mage started camping it, it spawned the tainted and the corrupted. After that I turned my stuff in to the gnome in OT and Xanuusus in NK for my SHINY NEW Nature Walker's Scimitar!!

I camped the three spawn points. The - 900, -900 one, the -1350, -770 one and the one near -825, +150.

Tainted popped at all three spawn points.

Corrupted didn't pop after 3 or 4 tainted pops.

The Tainteds I did get to spawn did not follow me onto land.

A Bloodgill Barracuda spawned at the -825, +150 camp instead of a Deepwater Barracuda on one occasion.

Will add any other info I get as and when.

I think most people say he spawns at -900, -900 because that place is close to the shore. But there are other places corrupt can spawn too. For peps doing this at higher lv camping 1 spawn point of a very green and very easy mob may make an already boreing camp seam even longer. I would suggest that you camp multiple spawn points if you are able to do so. I got corrupt to spawn for me at around -825, +140.

Been camping this for a couple of hours straight now at the -900, -900 location and it hasn't shown up yet. Got tired of just sitting there, so i decided to do some observing. There are 8 barracudas total; 5 run on a 40 second respawn time, 3 run on the 5 minute and 50 second timer. There's also a 9th barracuda that's related to a different quest called "a stuffed barracuda": http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=207 the 2nd iksar shaman skull is the quest. The barracuda's can also be "deepwater" or "bloodgill." The bloodgill's have more hp. According to past posts, the tainted can spawn from any non-stuffed barracuda in the water. My advice would be to label the 40 second respawn barracuda's and kill those off til you get a tainted.

I cleaned out the whole camp about 15 times before I read the -900,-900 thing. That fish is on a 5 min repop timer. I camped just that spot, and so far have popped it four times in 90 minutes. Three times it did NOT pop corrupted. On a whim, the fourth time I pulled it on shore ( I read that someone did that before) and this time it popped corrupted. I am not sure if this helps anyone, but if you are having trouble, try pulling the tainted to shore before killing it. For me, the corrupted popped on shore right where I killed the tainted, just like all the other tainted/corrupted mobs.

This has to be one of the easier of the corrupted mobs to get to spawn, or maybe I was just lucky. I jumped in the lake and began to track and kill deepwater barracudas. After about 15 minutes I got a tainted on track. I snared him and headed for the side of the lake and got out. I had been told that two kinds of tainted can spawn, one that will spawn the corrupted and one that won't. The way to tell the difference is that the one that WILL spawn teh corrupted will follow you out of the water onto the land, the one that won't will not leave the water.

This one left the water. I rooted and dotted, it died and spawned the corrupted right there on its corpse on land. I again rooted and dotted until it was dead. Looted the drop. Happy level 53 Druid.

I went to LOIO to try my luck at the corrupted barracuda. I tracked around killing various deepwaters then settled in one location close to the northeast corner of the kedge keep building in the lake. I sat here for over an hour killing deepwaters as they spawn one after the other in this location. No tainted in sight *sigh*.
About this time a fellow druid comes along in my guild and inquires about how my camp is going. She then offers up advice that she camped loc -900, -900 to get her lakewater. She also said she had camped various spots in the lake for about a month for a few hours a day before someone suggested she try the -900, -900 loc. *begins to panick*
I decided it wouldnt hurt to change locations so I settled my self on the ledge close to the location roughly -940, -900 facing a tick north of due west on the compass. The barracuda was right in front of me but out of agro range. I used root first to hold it still while I snared and landed a dot then sat down to med until it was close to 30% then nuked with a stun nuke to break root and finished off with melee. (I had regen and DS on). The spawns here seemed to come about every 7 minutes so there was a bit more time to med between kills, which was nice since KEI left me at the first camp. After about 3-4 cycles the tainted spawned and agroed me immediately. It conned light blue to me at 63 so I knew I had the right one and swam for the bank. (Have wolf form on so you dont have to worry about sow dropping). By the time I got to the bank I was at about 50% health but on dry land I could root it without being interrupted. I used the same dot method as i did in the water but no nuke and let him die down the beach away from me. The corrupted popped after right away but I was out of agro range and just root/snared it right there. I landed a dot on it and healed myself a bit then sat down to med a minute. When it was at about 40% I nuked it to break root and finished it off with melee. It was an easy kill and was also light blue to 63. I looted the lakewater and set off back to PoK. I only need 2 more drops to finish this quest! Hope this helps you.

I camped this guy last night. I took the lazy method, only watching the -900, -900 spawn point. I killed the PH every six minutes (actually, 5:50), set a timer and read a few pages in a magazine. Repeat. The PH was green to me at 63 and easily went down with one root and one each of my two best dots (240 + 143 per tick). The fake tainted spawned twice, green to me at 63, wouldn't follow me to shore and I used the same method to dispatch. The real tainted was LB to me, instantly agro'd and happily followed me to shore. KEI was long since gone by then so I rooted and, for mana preservation, didn't stack dots. I cast my best dot on him, maybe three or four times. Corrupted popped in his place, as expected, was also LB, and I fought him the same way. The camp took about 2.5 to 3 hours. And I caught up on my reading.

FYI there are multiple spawn points for these guys. I parked my 65 beast lord on one spawn point and I camped the other with my 64 druid. All spawns argo'd beast lord and pet quickly killed them. I use my druid to camp the second and track the third spawn point.

Took less than an hour to get this piece. Hope this helps.

Recommend marking the spawn points on your map so allow easy moving from point to point.
Here's how I did it - not the way it says here.
# Sep 30 2004 at 11:46 PM Rating: Decent
Boy, the instructions from crgaming.com really suck!

Here's what I did:

After a few hours of random tries, I marked on my map the location of the eight Deepwater Barracudas, and tried to kill them all at once - no go: Some respawn VERY fast. I had gotten a "false" tainted, but at -1350, -775.
So, one more time, I try to kill them all, in an arc that lands me at the tainted's location (above) as the last of them. Then, I get a bloodgill barracuda that spawned at -900, -900, and as soon as I kill that one, I have a DB tainted at -1350, -775, which I kill and it spawns a DB corrupted that was easier to kill.

I'm pretty sure that killing more faster will trigger things, but I don't think you have to kill everything at once to make spawn (like you do with Hill Giants, but they don't tell you this). Of course, it couldn't hurt, if you've got friends or a guild.

I'm not sure if the bloodgill is part of the chain needed to spawn the "real" tainted. Let me know how it goes for you.

After a couple hour-long camps on different days, I got this guy last night. Normal fish, fake tainted, normal, then POP, the real tainted. It does have a much larger aggro range than the fakes. It was also blue to me (at 55) whereas all the fakes and normals were teal or green. Corrupted was blue, too. Root and rot worked perfectly and I didn't bother to leave the water since I rooted them as soon as they popped.

Over the weekend, I camped this guy for 12 solid hours with only 3 light blue Tainteds spawning and no Corrupts. On Sunday, I logged on, gated over and sat for 29 minutes and the Tainted started biting me. He conned dark blue to my 59 Druid and immediately after he died, the Corrupted spawned. I don't know if this guy is on a timer or what, but it's a difficult camp to have. I only did the -900 -900 camp and got the loot I needed. I think everyone needs to have patience with this camp. Sooner or later he'll eventually spawn. If he is on a timer, it was at approx 3pm EST that he spawned.

Do exactly a "Good Info" post says. Take turns going from one spawn site to the other spawn site - is approximately 6 mins per each spawn. I did this one day for almost four hours and only got one tainted - which was green and the not the right kind. Gave up naturally. Came back another day, in same spots - killed one round of each and BAM! a Light Blue Tainted spawned ( neg 1700). Killed him with two rounds of dots, lol and one root. Corrupted spawned, which was green, and killed him even quicker and looted the item. DO NOT bother killing other cudas less you're just bored out of your mind. But patience is required for this camp. Good luck!

I spent 2.5 hrs ping ponging between -900 -900 and the -1700 -750 spawn spots. Had 4 or 5 low tainted spawn in that time. The real tainted spawned at the -1700 -750 spot. Root dotted Tainted 2WD, 2BoR, 1 DD same on Corrupted.

Aggro range on the real tainted is bigger than the normal fish. I was leaving the bodies on the lake bed to use them as 6 min spawn timers (when body at about 1m48s to despawn POP!)

Good Luck to all attempting this.

Well, perhaps I didn't look hard enough or was just unobservant, but I was unable to find any barracuda at -1700, -750. I did find one around -1300, -800, and I can only assume that's the one you meant.

Looks like I'll be here for a while.. *le sigh*

Just thought I'd throw in that I've been having terrible luck with this guy too. Worst part about it is that it's the last of the rare spawns I need. I've been camping it off and on for about 18 hours now (1 10'ish hour stretch) and I've killed 4 or 5 tainted's and still no luck getting a corrupted. Anyone who is camping this, I wish you luck, it's turning to be the worst of the tainted/corrupted's I've had to do so far. I've tried killing them all as well as camping just the -900/-900 spawn, neither seems to help me any.

Camped the suggested spot -900, -900, with my 65 druid:
-Killed all Deepwater Barracudas, when they were all dead at once(no others of that type were on track) the tainted spawned(green) snared him and DoT'd him on land; corrupted spawned(green); 10-20 minute camp...Maybe I was lucky...

I have a 65 druid on BB (just now doing my epic) and I FINALLY killed the corrupted after the 12th tainted spawn in a little over 8 hours. There are three definite spawn points for barracudas easily trackable from the –900, -900 loc. One is directly to the NW of the ledge, one near the underwater posts to the north and one due south of this spot. I have seen the tainted spawn in all three spots (though most frequently at –900,-900). I simply bound myself at –900,-900 and then swam over to the other two locations and killed them and gated back

Out of sheer boredom I dire charmed one of the bloodgill barracudas from across the lake and (slowly) got it back to the spawn point. Later I also charmed on of the place holders (this is a bad idea since, as the name implies, as long as he lived nothing spawned from that location). With savage spirit and 9 a bloodgill can easily outlast the tainted . . . wish I could tell you how he did against the corrupted but I would assume fine.

To answer questions that I had without making you read all the stuff below: The mob is easier than most of the corrupted you have killed to this point. He does NOT summon but he is NOT an automatic spawn once you kill the tainted. In fact, he was lower level than the tainted (who conned light blue against the corrupted’s green con) and had fewer hitpoints. Good luck folks.

The Story of a solo 55 Druid
I set up on the underwater ridge due east from the n900, n900 spawn point, and just out side of aggro range. I would wait for dw barracuda to pop, then stand up cast root, winged death, drones of doom (clicky), and drifting death, sit back down and wait for it to die. Wait 6 mins. then repeat. I camped that spot a total of 9 ish hours with 3 tainteds popping. The spawning tainted popped and instantly aggroed (so it's aggro range is farther then false tainted). I cast snare and ran for distance (about this time I noticed the KEI was gone as well as most of my other buffs)(still had SOE and EB though). Just happened to run on shore and it followed, got enough range to cast root, when it stuck I went through triple dot cycle 2 times to kill, corrupted popped and killed it in 2 root dot cycles, end result mana 40%, hp 80%.

ok.....been camping at the -900's spawn point for 15 hours and 4 green/lt blue tainted spawn....no corrupted. read down this message board and found a second spawn point at -1750, -770. on third kill at second spawn point dark blue tainted (55 druid/54 warrior) spawns with MEGA hps. took him down and WHAM, corrupted. took to shore and feared with druid spell. corrupted will not run just stays in one spot feared on land. and i beat the stupid out of him. wife looted pure lakewater. my suggestion is to camp both spots seeing as how tainted spawns at both and corrupted has spawned at both. hope this helps. I was prepared for the worst tonight when I got to LOIO to try to get this guy. Brought along a couple friends to lend a hand. After a few hours they got bored (I do NOT blame them! LOL) so it was down to just me. Sat at the loc you guys said to sit at and waited. Every 6 min I killed whatever fish spawned in front of me until I got the dark blue Tainted to spawn.

I'm lvl 61 so I had on Cabbage and Mask of Hunter along with Solstice Earring, but KEI had long since left. I had to pull the Tainted to shore and root/rot him. Corrupted spawned with me at about 20 mana. LOL

It was a long slow process but I managed to get him.

Thank you all for the wonderful advice you have given here! I would prolly still be swimming from cuda to cuda if I hadn't stopped here to read what you all have said first.

So far this has been a real pain. Been Helping a druid friend of mine camp here, using my Necro. So far we have had several Tainted spawn, but none following up to the shore, nor spawning the corrupted. Have done this for several hours on several days... have a feeling it's keeping it's distance from us just laughing... So far the Tainted have only been spawning around the n900 n900 location if that helps any. If you have any pet class with you and are having a hard time finding exactly where the Deepwater Barracudas are, just have them make a key... /pet attack a deepwater barracuda... and another key to assist the pet... if you are anywhere near the target and hit the key, your pet will agro it... then assist the pet to get the mob in your target box...

I just got him tonight. It is such a long and disappointing waste of time to hunt these baracuda. The fact that the tainted does not always spawn the corrupted stinks. Anyway, all the information here is correct of -900, -900. Good luck and lots of patience.

yeah i've been hunting these for a few hours a day for the past week and i havent seen one tainted pop. seems like a big waste of time for mobs that are so easy. i can stay at FM with kei and FT1.
