Well if you need to do turn in just get someone to cast either SoE or to Lev and SoW you, then looking up runn towards the ruins he's on top of checking so you dont' overshoot, invis also helps to stop aggro, but not a must. Then just do turn in and get your nice Shackle of Tynnonium :)
After reading most of the post, I can share my pain with you guys as well...
It's in the Marelin Starpyre server... The newest server out since March 12, 2003... Anyways, I was boxing w/ my cleric and paladin mosing along the pathway back to FV when I past by a ruins, and I see a Iksar sitting there...
I didn't think nothing of it, and both of them... the cleric & pally had both jboots on... so there was no problem...
SWACK, SWACK, SWACK
"Veltor hits YOU for 213 HP Damage!" "Veltor kicks YOU for 135 HP Damage!" "Veltor hits YOU for 234 HP Damage!"
Stunned that I am, I out box to my baby paladin, (as tweaked as he is...) and try to go into my inventory to use my "10 Doses of Gate Potion" to gate back...
Now thinking about that... I should of gated the cleric first... Dumb mistake...
"Veltor kicks YOU for 157 HP Damage!"
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT....
My mouth dropped open at the fact how quickly my paladin was killed... but it didn't get better...
I was looking through the other box with the cleric and saw him sitting down for abt 2 minutes...
I know I should of ran away like a girl, but...
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK....
My cleric was dead on the spot before I zoned inside the cave of FV....
I was pissed that I had to go and retrieve my paladin and my cleric, but lucky for me my epic was still on my dead body...
A beautiful 96% rez begun...
After that, I can say... "REVENGE IS MINE!!!"
I will get there soon enough and kill him for the enjoyment of fun....
I brought my Main (Wizard) through DL a while back from lvls 35-49. During that time i never saw Veltar only saw the shouts announcing he was near FV zone. Recently (Last week) I was playing my Warrior alt and we just finished a mob at Middle Ruins and was getting ready for the next when all of a sudden something hitting me from behind. I turn around and its an Iksar kicking me and doing those Kung-Fu roundabout kicks on me and punching for like 212 pts of dmg. I thought it was a regular PC at first but then saw the name. I ran to FV zone and had like 23% health when I zoned. I believe he runs almost the speed of sow as he was still hitting me occasionaly when running to FV. If it wasnt for sow never would have made it. I was nearly dead though.
Just FYI he is NOT charmable my hubby was kiting his 50 bard in DL tonight and got jumped by this guy tried charming and got the "this npc can not be charmed" message so save your mana for other things!
Killed this guy pretty easily SK pulled him to the wall and tanked him shaman did his job debuff slow etc i was seriously afk half the fight just sitting here watching TV hitting my range macro so i dunno how much damage i did no clue what he dropped no clue how many hp he had
Well hello - wake up!! Of course he was easy to 3x lvl 65's. Why do you guys post this sort of rubbish - he's a lvl 61 for goodness sake!! Think about it - 1x61 versus 3x 65!!! Doh.
More useful would be posting how he attacks, damage etc rather than baosting about how (obviously) one sided the fight was. Sheesh!
I was on the N side with my Druid dotting a pertrifried cockatrice (or something like that)when I got hit from behind twice and my health went down 1 bubble. Noticed it was this guy and ran for KC. Zoned in to KC with 1 1/2 bubbles of health. This guy hits very hard but with sow I can outrun him (barely outrun him too)
Was grouping in DL at the ledge in front of the entrance to KC pulling a Drolvarg here, a cockatrice there, when i see my groups HP rapidly vanish until they were all dead, as i was running around looking for what had killed them.... /shout Veltar's on the loose again! thats when i got up, when to the fridge and grabbed a beer and waited for my group to get back...
I was in DL today fooling around when I remembered this guy. Had a ranger track him down for me so I could play around. Conned blue to a lvl 62. The first try I failed. I got him down to about 80 life and the amount of adds I had gotten were way to much. They interrupted me a lot and took mana to keep off me. BTW this guy is not rootable. Immune to running speed changes. I got a malo and slow off on him fairly easy. Came back for a second try and pulled him to a diff spot. Took a wile but he fell. He has a ton of hp.
I need to know something, a while ago I assisted in killing Veltar ( me,another monk and Shaman )and I come to realize that I need him for the quest towards whistling fists, so I decided to turn in bone chips to fix faction and to gain good faction with cabilis . I turned in over 8,000 bone chips and everyone in Cabilis is indifferent to me except Necros and Swift Tails (monk guild), could anyone tell me about how many more bone chips I would have to turn in to fix faction, they are still Scowling ready to attack after 8,000 bone chips.... I am a human monk with Quellious beliefs.
My RL friend started an Iksar monk and was killing in DL. His group said hey lets kill this guy (Veltar) he drops something for your Epic, my friend being new and clueless helped out on the fight, which of course resulted in no loot. The sad part is after only killing him one time he is now KOS to his guildleaders in the Court of Pain. So now he has to do how many quests to get back to dubious?? LOL. The good thing is he will probably never do his epic, and their are other trainers he can go to, but the morale of the story is find out the truth before listening to pick up group fantasy talk.
monks should be at least as good as everyone else, unless you've been going around killing Velsar a lot since he's on Swiftail faction, as for the necros who cares, only way to get faction up with them is to kill lots and lots and lots of the iksar bandit types
I have heard of a few ppl who took out Veltar early on when he was first spoted in DL. He has a MASSIVE neg to Swift Tails. My guess is you will be doing another 8K bone chips if not more. An Iksar Monk that took him out ended up KoS as well so you as a Human will have your work cut out for you. Good luck with that though.
Not sure which of these you could do, but they all will raise Swifttail faction. I've heard of people turning in insane amounts of Bone Chips, becoming Max Ally to the Guards, and still being KoS to Monk/Necro factions in Cabilis.
This guy was fun, lvl 49 SK was soloing in DL and rocking, I dinged 50 and decided to walk around and explore a little to take a break. Walked into his ruins and froze when i saw him. he didnt aggro me right away so i had the chance to con him which was red, and scowls at me. so i turned around to walk away and smack, smack, smack i FD right away while he finished off my pet in two swings. Had no idea who he was so as i laid there, while him standing over my head for good five minutes (impatient) I got up, ran few feet away and FD again. he started to walk slowly back to his ruins, got up ran a few feet and FD again. I was good ways away from him so me dinging lvl 50 (and cocky) decided to play with him, got up as he ran to me cast spell after spell (resist, resist) FD again. Cast My new and improved SK DD spell (230 DD) resist, resist. FD again. Down to like 90hp and a good ways away from him i ran to the zone and came to realize... i did a 10 dmg slash to him the whole time (almost dead) Went back in DL and did /ooc WTF who the heck is Veltar? Whole zone was like oooh BADASS ****.. ( that same day i kept hearing, "Donating for a rez" Veltar on the loose... Wonder who the heck let that guy out? /shrug

I tried to solo him last night. Hit him with slow and it stuck, let my pet tank while I nuked. Got him down to 90 life and ran out of mana to keep pet alive.
Would this attack a Iksar Necro? I was in a group and I was the only one not wiped out, but that may be because he was chasing someone else, and in the meantime, I Feign Death-ed and sat there. Was it because I am an Iksar Necro or because I FD-ed?
He is on Iksar Monk faction, he shouldnt attack any iksar unless you messed up the faction. I'm human monk and was KOS to him, now indifferent after raising Cabilis faction.
For any High level Monk with a good Guild, but has yet started on the Monk Robes for the epic, get 2 55+ groups together, But have A 58+ Shaman For slows, take him down, he has 1/3 chance of dropping the RoTLC, easy Robe to obtain, but if yer lazy like me, this is a easy way outa the Quest!
for some reason it seems that he doesn't like to come out to play n my server The Rathe i've been grouping in dl since level 36 and now 41 and it's been about 2 months since i started grouping there never seen anyone shout that they are training him nor have i seen him myself only place i have ever seen him is on track asked my group he was they said big bad ikky i'm ok stay away from him but if u want someone to play with in dl kill Dread Widow more fun Cazel = no no he kills to many people to fast i would know
You dont train veltor. You get lots a peeps and take him down or get your butt kicked. For this reason most people stay out of the ruins he is in and thats probably why you have heard no shouts etc.
Was running over DL to ruins to join a group when all of a sudden it's stun stun stun ... 207 dmg, lucky for me my SoW was up and Fluffy was fully buffed, pet held him off for me to reach FV zone. Before zoning I turned around and bamm he's there .... a lvl 40 bl pet is no laughing matter and pet held him for a while but he still caught up to me. My friend I was going to go grp with got out the shout for Veltar to FV thankfully.
I was wondering into some ruins just looking around when he attacked me. I didn't look at him or even turn around, I just saw the 207s, so luckily I had Spirit of Cheetah up and outran him easily and had time to shout Veltar to KC. Bards can do the same with spirit of eagle. I didn't even know he was an iksar until I came here.
Camping at the middle ruins in DL, this Iksar guy comes up and hits me twice - I thought it was another PC at first ('til he started hitting me!). Luckily warrior saw him drop in and knew who he was - taunted mob off of me and shouted "Cleric Zone!!" Shammy sow'd me and I ran for KC - warrior died and so did shammy. (Thanks guys for saving my butt.) Warrior was level 47 and mob conned red to him - so I believe the level 60 stuff. Have hunted in DL for months, and never saw this mob - now I hear of him at least every other night. Just hope I never meet him again.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Oct 14 2002 at 11:31 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok all, heres what happened, i was a lv 50 druid, on prexus server, was doing that evil trade druids do, ya u know the one, quad kiting, was after the dog like creatures, granted there still dark blue to me barley, i am able to take out 8 or more per quad, so its fairly easy to hunt in there, well i was out near the empty runis with 7 of them already snared and pulled tightly and i seen another mob near the runins, so i went to him and snared him, i was like woot i got all 8 now, i started to turn and run, when a web creature smacked me, so i backed up < not knowing i was getting closer to the runins and rooted spidar, next thing i know i start taking massive amounts of damage, double hits for 150+, several times, < i would like to take this time to thank clerics, esp the lv 60 cleric, cuz i had aego on me, had 2.5k hp> all the hits coming in and luckly i was in wolf form so i started running, i got some distance truned and looked back to see my mobs that i snared still comign,i was like cool hes gone, so i started kiting, not knowing he had only stoped to take out some groups puller,i smacked my mobs for a sec and then here he comes again, , smacked me a few more times really fast, so i turned to run, i shout that he was lose and i was heading to KC, to clear a path, or get slaughtered, wouldnt u know it a few stupid monks stoped him and fought him, but they were taken out fast, hehe, i had to stop and watch, when they died i ran for the zone, i made the zone, with 41 hp left, yes he runs fast but he wasnt the only mob hitting me, i have learned my lesson and next time i will take him down North wall instead of south wall, theres always targets there for him to agro on,
Well, quading 8 is very impressive. Since our AOE only hits 4 at max. You got attacked by Veltar and then run (train him) on everyone that you ran past. Your closest zone was FV just little more east from his spawn location. If you zoned with C3 and Aego on with 41hp left, then good bye to those buffs. If your less that 20% life when you zone, you loose all your buffs. Better to have just zoned to save your buffs and came back for the 4 mobs (not 8) after it was clear. Wizards are better then we are at doing this due to their spells effecting more then 4 at a time. Hince when we do 4 its called "QUAD" kiting. QUAD meaning 4.
Actually wizard target based AEs at that level only hit 4 mobs also... the spells that hit more then 4 are all player based (ie eminate from you the caster). Anyone dumb enough to try killing more then 4 mobs, especially if they are dk blue, using this line of spells solo is a dead fool.
Actually it's not 20%. At zone game temporary strips you of buffs and gear, and if your hp goes below zero, you get a "soft death" .. losing buffs etc, but keeping exp and gear.
This can be used to your advantage. If you're heavily dotted and heading for zone, it could be worth waiting a moment extra if HP low. "Soft death" removes all effects, including all dots etc, and your total hp will be the hp your gear gives you.
I am a 52nd level barbarian shaman and was hunting DL and didn't do my homework. So needless to say I walked right into this guys ruins and sat down. Before I could see what hit me I was doubled for 207 and kicked for 112. My pet bought me enough time to run a bit, heal myself, and put fresh sow on before he came at me again. Outran him to the FM zone. Won't be sunbathing at those ruins anymore.
Got KEI the other day up at the Nexus and decided to do some solo kiting down in The Dreadlands. Was doing pretty good, got my groove on, kiting in between MOBs, spinning round simultaneous with nuke landing, getting gored by one rooting it, spinning round all balletic like, stunning, nuking, taunting, ending the MOBs existance with blunt trauma. I was turning into a regular nuking ballarina.
Well, decided to take a little jaunt over by the East ruins. Noticed a Iksar standing on top of the building. Didn't pay much attention - must be some weak static spawn. Mistake. Preparing to snare yet another hapless victim I suddenly hear CRUNCH:
"Veltar hits YOU for 136 HP Damage!" "Veltar hits YOU for 86 HP Damage!"
I start running. I have SoW for goodness sake. I am invincible. However, I was curious so stopped after some distance. Mistake. Before I can turn around completely I hear CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH.
"Veltar hits YOU for 207 HP Damage!" "Veltar hits YOU for 207 HP Damage!" "Veltar hits YOU for 207 HP Damage!"
Loading, Please Wait....
That's right, he triple hits for 207. No more balletic high elf...just shreds strewn about the battlefield.
