Exiting KC my 61 cleric came across veltar with only 7 mana and merc. Took a while to kill but no decent drop. didn't occur to run as veltar was same level.

I stood under him, used stone throw disc and pulled him and feigned as he came down to whip my. I stood up and had enough time to do the hand in before he popped back up top.

For any iksar monks, veltar sits on top of the ruins east of karnor... I used levitate, walked up the hill NW of the ruins, and floated over to him. I didn't see any other way of reaching him

Well guys I had my run in with Veltar today. I`m a 56 barbarian warrior with 4200 hp. I was just running around DL with most threatening mob at LB to me. When all of sudden I get hit from behind, thats not uncommon. I looked to see that the threat was a npc named Veltar, color bright RED. I said whats going on to myself, dark red npc here in DL? So I ran to KC zone in to turn and fight him there. I fought him for about 30 sec getting my *** kicked. I used heal potions, shield potions my warrior tomes & my tribute master skills upgrades. No chance to win this fight today. I decide to turn and run to zone in KC. Got a few feet then bamm I was called back to him to fight some more. I was able to see were he put me & run to zone out with 16% health. He`s a mean npc.

Revenge is sweet, soloed him with ease with my 70 ranger, fight took all of 30 second maybe. Yes he does summon, and enrages around 15% health. Dropped words of abrogation. The few hits he managed to land were around 88.

Previously if you read "Meeting in Person"... You can vouch I had a "problem" with him.. =D

But... I found a solution.

Soloing him wasnt too bad to let loose some anger... but it gets better....

"How about sacraficing to the Tunare Gods?"

Thats where its becomes a LOT of fun...

You know unless you REALLY have some beef with this char then its no purpose honestly to do it... You can say its like "Running to your hometown guards from Orcs, Spiders, etc...."

BUT, if you really wanna be evil - THAT is the way to do it... =D

As an iksar, I've never had a problem with Veltar ... that is until 2 of my friends wanted to see if they could kill him just for kicks. 2 monks and a shammy took him down easy ... tho it was a longer fight than usual. After that I went to Cab to see Master Glox ..... and he killed me. Luckily I had already completed my Shackle of Tyn quest. So killin this guy gives a HUGE faction hit... but most of you fleshies don't care.

ever since OoW came out, been seeing alot of Veltar being trained to FV zoneline, then on his way back, he walks right by the taskmaster, which is where he met his demise. Me (65 necro at the time) and guildie (65 cleric) were testing out the new tributes when i see Veltar running by, so i get the proper spells up, buff the pet and there he is. pet tanks the whole time, i put on saryrns kiss, funeral pyre and blood of thule. cleric is just healing the pet and i start casting neurotoxin after a while, cleric goes low on mana (she didn't get a warning about the fight) so i twitch for awhile - i didn't have much myself, and pets health starts to drop so i told her to run. Veltar was at about 10% health, i reapplied some dots as the pet goes down, cleric gets agro'd and takes off for zone, with me in pursuit. She kept getting summoned and her health was dropping fast. In the tunnel, i hit him with touch of night as the cleric zoned and down he goes. FYI - he doesn't run at all when low on health and a slower is an enormous plus. no loot at all, just faction hit.

Took him out yesterday

We had a group of six of us ranging between 49 and mid-50 ish yesterday camping KC when we ran into this guy. Turned on the logs -- and off to battle we went.

Veltar took approximately 42,000 points of damage before going down. His average hit was 128 -- and his primary target was a 52 pally tanking for us. He doles a lot of damage out quickly -- he parsed out to about 99 DPS for us. It took about 7 mins to take this guy out.

He resisted our snares and roots pretty well. He summons as well.

At the end, No drops -- to our disbelief! Well -- at least no one in the group died!

Becareful with this guy -- especially if you are soloing around the 40-50 range.

My 55 chanter was over in DL near ruins for the first time - was targeting light blue and occasional DB ravgs, when my pet got swarmed by a couple of adds and died. I mezeed all but the original DB gnoll who was down to 10% and was losing 1% to grasping embrace, so I decided to kite him around the ruins as he died.

I stopped once to see where he was since he was almost dead and noticed what I took to be someone playing an Iskar running towards me.

Big surprise when he started hitting me for 126 a pop and stunned me so I couldnt mez or gate. Went down in a hurry, especially when DB gnoll managed to join the beat on chanter party.

Looking at posts, guess I have a return engagement when I get higher.

I have run into this guy with my mage, a 65 now and much lower then. I have never seen him. The first time, my pet tangled with something invisible around the east ruins, and I couldn't see it to target it. That time I made to to Firiona Vie zone line safely. I ran into him later at ZL, and ducked back. Later I cranked up my See Invis spell and went looking for him in the east ruins. I found him and still couldn't see him. I think he nailed me that time. My Mage is a pretty potent guy now, and I owe that gentleman a return visit. Potent or not, if I can't see him I can't damage him and I don't think my pet can do it alone. What puzzles me is that no one else seems to have this problem. Any suggestions?

Hehe, I hate him, ever since I first came to zone at lvl 39 and asked if Veltar was a good pull. Someone in my party "sarcasticlly" said yes, so I pulled him to my group, we all had long CRs. The guy then yelled at me saying he was being "sarcastic".

Was passing through DL with my 61 ranger today, ands thought I'd see if I might be able to take this guy out as revenged for all the times I aggroed him before and he either chased me out of the zone or killed me.

Bad idea. He had me down to 50% health before I knew it. Zoned with only 20% health after standing and fighting a bit, and I barely dented him. I'll get him one of these days though. He is owed some payback :)

I just soloed this guy yesterday, 65 shaman 195 AA's full defensive + more 6k hp, fight took about 20 mins with me tanking & pet beating on it. Didn't drop anything except swift tails faction. He deserved it after all those trains from my DL days.

At 52 I decided to see if I could take Veltar. I was told that it was a level 60, so I thought that my chants would have a slight chance of sticking.

I was done f'ing around in DL, and decided to try him before I logged, so I started to track him, and much to my delight, he found ME instead of me having to find him, as I ran around the ruins trying to follow the tracking.

I pulled him out and around in circles until I could actually get him targetted in the 3/4 overhead view, and then I began to use all four chants. They stuck about 50% of the time, so I figured I could do it. Then I noticed that every two ticks his HP would only go down 1% at the most, and I figured I'd be there a while.

I wasn't, since he began summoning me, then getting at least a hit or two after every summon (except a couple occasions when he missed). I then decided to leave him be, to attend to his Monkly business, and ran towards the Burning Woods zone line, being summoned every now and then, although makinga bout 50 feet more progress after each one, until I zoned with 50% HP left.

In short, do not solo Veltar if you are 52.

A couple days ago i was leveling with my friend and some other people in DL, when I had to go i noticed that Veltar was relatively close to me, and being the noob that i am i decided to go check him out. I look in this old stone ruins and i didnt see anything, so i turn around and start heading back to FV and then WHACK! Veltar kicks me for 160 damage, i stuck around fr a bit to see him smack me around for 150+ hits most of the time. I left as soon i could, i had sow and is tarted running to Fv and did a /ooc to warn everyone and when i noticed i was lost, i turned around to see if this guy was keeping up with me and he was gone, i even ran back a bit to see if he was real slow but he had completely stopped following me. Donno if the aggro got taken or something but i am happy that he left me since i was quite lost.

Bah you got lucky. I got called for my first time to a grp in DL yesterday. I zoned in but i had never really been there for more than a few minutes. So i looked at the map adn tryed to find something that might be the southwest ruins. Of course i had never grped there so i had no idea what it meant. I replyed to the guy who invited me and asked him what the heck the SW ruins were and where they were on the map. He gives a good explanation but i'm a noob so i ran to big ruins way to the west of the castle(d'oh). I saw a ton of mobs wandereing and a lot conned white, yellow, and red.....oh my! SO i park myself next to a wall and try to figure out where this grp is when i see about 4 fresh red lines with 100's in them and the name Veltar. I crapped my pants. I was 39 at the time. He conned red and i dint even take time to see what the f--k was trashing me. I started to go to FV but only lasted 6 seconds. No kidding. I counted. I'm not angry i died or anything cuz i ran in there with no sow or hp buffs and 56%hp(bout 700 hp then). Just as a warning to any low lvl's not wanting to be slaughtered i think he may spawn near those big western ruins close to. GL and safe...um......just stay the heck away from him.

ps. i'll be in DL for awhile (prolly till i hit 46) so if you need a tank think Uthgard.

soloable to a 65 paladin. attacks quick as ****, but his most common hit on 2200ac seemed to be 67 (and he missed a lot besides...) I was running around looking for gorenaire, to try to solo on the offchance that she was up, when I heard an ooc for help by kc. ranger that was there died, and veltar was still 100% when I came. (no one else in area) TOTALLY unbuffed the whole fight (~8500hp.. full time gear.. on beta server, so full time isnt altogether uncommon ;-)) used LoH (aaed to complete heal) and hopiety (1350 point aa heal, didn't crit) along with a few lower heals in the fight. ended FH and about 75 mana, max hit that I noticed was in the lower 200s, but he only got that once. took a while, but nothing compared to some luclin mobs and guild trainers etc.

Well if you need to do turn in just get someone to cast either SoE or to Lev and SoW you, then looking up runn towards the ruins he's on top of checking so you dont' overshoot, invis also helps to stop aggro, but not a must. Then just do turn in and get your nice Shackle of Tynnonium :)
