For Paladins in their early 50s this is a great place to solo. I start off at the entrance to Katta to get my bearings and cast sense undead. This will invariably pick up Bedlavar to your left so just go to his castle and keep hitting dismiss undead until it doesn't say out of range. You'll see him lumbering toward you so root him and get off a few more Dismiss Undeads. You could actually finish him off this way, but after i soften him up with a couple roots I let him come on and cast Fear Undead and chase him around and whack him to death. Takes about three minutes, then just hit Sense Undead and repeat on next vampyre. Great solo XP and if you have a KEI there is really no down time. Just remember they DO life tap, so if you engage in melee when they aren't feared they will essentially suck all your life HP out and claim them as their own.

The loot is pretty decent, mostly coterie armor pieces you can sell in bazaar.

Phaedruse (53 Paladin)

...and so man set off into space, only to find what he already had in great abundance . . . infinite meaninglessness.

Also should mention it would be best to hug Katta wall as you battle, otherwise adds (wolves, bats, etc.) are a pain.

Soloed him easily as a 56 Drood ... ensnared, Winged Death, B-Ro, Clicky Drones of Doom, Ro's Smoldering Disjunction, and a couple nukes ... would have gone down with a kiting of WD easily though.

Dropped nada *sigh*
Too hard

This vamp is tough lvl 52 bl. Poison useless on vamp's. 300hp dot barely moved his health bar. Pet had been healed several times. One of his flurries almosst killed pet when it had a high health so be carefull. tougher than expected

Killed him twice today he dropped Coterie arms. Must drop all pieces randomly as do other vampires. We agro kite these with my 45 warrior and 44 druid friend. He harmony pulls one (using see invis) with snare, double DoTs it, then runs it around while I axe it from behind. Works beautifully, decent exp and good drops. Resists magic somewhat, very vulnerable to fire though.

Coterie Camps
# Sep 17 2002 at 5:48 AM Rating: Decent
This was an exciting place to wander into. Ive always wanted to kill some vampyres heh. Im a beastlord level 52 and i have 3c atm. a coterie veteran spawned in the other building next to the bedlover mob (lol) building. It dropped a twilight peice called "a mark of peace" .. im guessing its for a cleric peice. Half the mobs are invisible. I read about a ancient chinese secret that works here.. they are too close together to pull except one mob at the back corner (invis). So to single pull them.. target your mob and get behind the right building and cast a spell that will cast through a wall. You will pull only one. MAKE SURE, you position yourself out of site from any other vamp. The coterie gear drops common. 6silver - 5plat drops.
The rampage is AOE, their life tap for 200 is AOE, They hit for 90 max ( and bsts dont have great AC ) Half to 3/4 of the camp seems to be aqua, rest dblue to a 52. My pet can melee it.. but the lifetaps make the fighting time potentially random.. can be a while with the blues. They take frost damage and magic pretty easy. Forget about poisoning them. The centurions route at 1 bub of healt.. so 'shoot' for that i.e. nuke the hell out of them. Melee is a bad way to kill these it seems. I let my pet get it down to 3 bubs and chain nuke with my lousy frost strike to one bub, then step in to finish off.. i have to heal my pet ALOT, even on the aqua ones. Med out of AOE range but still in spell range. This would not be too efficient without c3 i believe. I had to zone after expending all my mana without c3 on a dblue mob.. it kept procing the lifetap too often. Kill these guys with magic.

Fozzycat Fuzzibolz 52 Primalist
Vellon Zek
Ichigeri (One-Kick) Tigerbane 31 Monk

yaya uber this uber that.. some day for me2 :P
easy compared to other named mobs

any solid group can take this guy down (much quicker battle than the lvl 50 named mobs). Just beat him to death with melee :)
Melee Beware

These guys are only easy kills for casters. Had a group with about 3 melee, cleric, and druid. Well tried to just Tank CH but not working. This guy does flurry and Rampage. He also has a AoE lifetap which will draw 200hp from everyone around him. He would AoE lifetap and fill his health back up. Either had to Aggro kite him or nuke and beat him down really fast.

No AE lifetap, might be a rampage with their vampyre proc.
They dont resist fire, and he got like 2k HP.. just nuke twice and let him run dr00d..

There is no way he has only 2k hp, that would be a 30 something mob. Just killed him a few min ago, and took a while for pet to kill him down, and when I blasted him for close to 800dmg it seemed he didnt even lose a whole bubble. And BTW, shouldnt these named guys drop something special?
easy kill
# May 05 2002 at 11:43 PM Rating: Decent
I have kited this char on a regular basis as my friends sat at the tormented wall camp . Easy kill for a 51 wizzy. I would kite to the camp just to give the rest of my teammates the exp from it. Great way to kill time waiting for the tormented to spawn. I would also visit the other vamp camps just to pull the Named Vamp. Heh, not ready for the tower yet......yet!

Name is actually "Bedlavar". I've been killing him between quads at the northwest vamp camp. Has yet to drop anything of interest other than your standard Vampire fare. I've been taking him out to prevent him from interfering with the quads. One never knows though... I will continue to hope he has a rare drop :)

This guy jumped me level 46 enchanter. I got the Loading message before I knew what hit me. Next round Monk and Pally did him in, dropped coterie cloak, nice newbie item only.

Bedlaver is a wolf
# Mar 29 2002 at 6:18 PM Rating: Default
I've now hunted at the NW coterie camp for hours, and killed Bedlaver a few times. He never has any loot, but it seems that he turns into "a black wolf" every half hour or so, and walks off to the east. Never got a chance to either follow or kill the wolf, and I never saw it head back to turn into Bedlaver again either. But if you see a wolf walk off and suddenly Bedlaver isn't there anymore, you'll know why <grin>.

You know, that's pretty interesting in the fact that it could be a quest maybe... I mean, VI just doesn't randomly decide "Hey Bob, I turned it into a wolf! Isn't it cool?" Because that's not cool. So maybe it actually has purpose? Maybe you hail the black wolf then ask it why it isn't in it's noob zone where it's supposed to be slaughtered by angry people with 3 23 weapons.

his maker can turn onto a wolf or a bat i assume that the higher levle coterie can do the same.

Information on Bedlaver
# Mar 27 2002 at 7:07 PM Rating: Decent
Saw Bedlaver today in Tenebrous at the NorthWest Coterie camp. He was inside one of the buildings. Not knowing what to expect, I buffed myself as much as I could, and memmed Egress and Superior Heal before beginning to pull him. I was able to snare him without a problem, and my Engorging roots stuck on the first attempt, and didn't break throughout the entire battle. He didn't cast spells, summon, or even Harm touch. It took 2 Winged Deaths, 1 Breath of Ro, and 2 Drones of Doom to kill him, so I figure he has somewhere around 4000 hit points.

I didn't get in close enough to find out how hard he hit, but he was a fairly easy kill.

As far as loot? A little cash, and that was it. Don't know if he has a rare drop, but will continue to kill him to find out.

Faction hits were the same as regular Coterie Legionnaire's.

Hope this helps those of you who find yourself face to face with this named, but seemingly otherwise unextroardinary vampire.
