Arch Lich Rhag`Zadune

Raid Encounter
Screenshot

Uploaded July 24th, 2007

  • Max hit: 650
  • Average hit: 350
  • HP Estimate: 920,000
  • Slowable: No
  • Single-Target Rampages: Yes
  • Rootable/snareable: No
  • Perma-rooted: Yes

Arch Lich Rhag`Zadune is perma rooted, so the rampage list can (and will) be acquired when pulling the two guards behind him. He will cast from the moment he gets agro however. Some form of levitate is imperative to get through this fight as his Death Shackles has a large knockback that will drop dps to a fraction. If you attempt the fight without levitate, press your back against the table behind Arch Lich Rhag`Zadune, and reposition yourself between flings.

Negative 150, positive 421, positive 266.

You will have to go right from zone in and when you make it up through the first tube you take another right after you go through the door. In front of you you will see the Lorekeeper, before you reach the Lorekeeper there will be two mobs flanking you on your left and right. Between the mobs on the left side is a false wall leading to a tunnel. That tunnel will lead straight ahead to a room and to the right is tunnel leading to another tube leading up. If you see Two crypt guardians you are on AL's level.

There are traps in the tunnel leading to AL they cast a curse that lasts one hour and inficts about 150 damage per tick and draining mana.

Have fun.

80 ranger and 78 cleric took him out last night after a 30 minute battle. Cleric was on rampage (Vow of Victory covered all the rampage damage). The ranger is averagely equipped, at roughly praetorian/demi equipped, 900 aas, and cleric box at about 350 aas. The cleric finished the fight fom, though he did occasionally cast a PR. He is very soloable these days, its just a matter of being able to top up your health as a 20-30 minute battle will eke away at your health.

Oh and levitate is a must!

He may not even have one. I knew a couple of rangers who back in 2007 had 20-25khps. These days 20khp is nice but nothing shocking, and it won't be long until 30khp is the same way i'm sure.

Took him down tonight solo. He is reasonably easy for a cleric took 1hour 20 mins. Just keep up DI up and dont get too confident and he is doable. Most annoying thing about this fight is the stun.

He dropped 4 spells, Sk weapon, priest neck and priest shield.

Got him to 85% or so before backing out, took about 10 minutes just for that. Going back soon when I have an hour or more to spare to finish him. Was still Full mana when I backed out, Vow of Valor proc is more than enough to keep me up the whole time with no heals. He will fall to cleric soon :)

Had some fun tonight! 75 Bard, 75 Cleric, 75 War, and 73 Chanter took this guy out in just under a half hour. Cleric kept the bard and warrior up fine, even though both were getting hit about the same. As the bard, I kept spamming the level 75 group heal to keep hp and mana up for the rest of the group.

Other than the stupid stun proc, we had no problems with this guy at all. I parsed 270k damage during this time for just myself, forgot to turn on parses for everyone else. :(

We killed this guy yesterday with 16 people on Veeshan. All pre-Time, and most pre-Elemental. The key, of course, was strategy.

Here are some statistics about him.

I parsed him out at 825Khp, not including extensive damage from shaman and necro dots. I'm guessing he's around 900K-1Mhp.

Max hit was 644, min hit was 230, average 361. He rampaged about once for every two hits on the main tank -- basically, you need two full time tanks on this guy. He was unslowable, and he dispelled himself a lot over the course of the fight.

The previous night, we'd tried to do him, but had to quit when a bunch of folks had to go to bed. We had cleared out all the guards in his room. By the time we killed him (over 24 hours later), his guards had still not respawned. So, once you kill the guards, they're gone for at least a full day.

We attempted this guy yesterday with 14 people. Average lvl 68. I think our fight would have gone much better had we read up a little first about levitation. Here is how our encounter played out.

We killed the 8 mobs in the room before AL. This is the room with the traps. The mana drain curse is terrible to deal with , and since we had no rogue, we had to find a way to work around this.
Once we cleared the room , everyone moved up to the door to AL and hugged that wall. From there, the trap will not hit you. You can safely med here for a couple seconds anyways and not worry about the trap . What you do need to worry about are the respawns. They come fast . And with 14 people battling mobs with mega HP , they dont go down fast . So by the time we killed the room off , i would say there was less then a 5 minute break before repops started to agro on us.

We cleared the room again ,and had the rampage tank pull the snakes inside AL's room. Once they were dead, and rampage tank had AL's agro , we moved into position. Everyone got in AL's room, and sat behind the pillars. Debuffers did their job, and we all engaged. What we didn't know was AL's highly annoying proc will fling you all over that room. Levitation , and backs to the wall are neccesarry . Once our rampage tank got flung, that put a cleric on ramp. Once this happens, it takes time for the RT to get back to AL , regain rampage , and by that time our cleric died. Then more flinging. Necro died. More flinging, and more and more casters are catching the rampage. This is what killed us basically.
I think we had him down to 70% before we totally wiped. We had rezzed the first cleric that went down just before we wiped , so when he took his rez and came back , he just saw us all dropping , lol, and and started rezzing.

The trick to this is three things. Make sure you have a set RT that can / will hold agro for rampage. Next, make sure at least he and the MT have levitation so they dont get flung around the room. Last, just make sure you have one healer for Rt - and one for MT . Had things not gotten sloppy, im positive our healers would have held out throughout the fight. His ramp isnt severe. Yes he ramps like every round , but it is only a couple hundred HP. Any decent offtank should survive it. Now that we know where we went wrong, i suspect the next time we challenge AL , he will die.

Oh yeah , bring your DPS. He is another typical luclin mob (typical SSRA mob at that) who has tons of HP . So it is a sustained fight.

Was thinking pally cleric cleric chanter wizard necro. maybe a shaman instead of one of the clerics and then an extra necro insted of chanter(for mana dumping) but the chanter could help with DPS by charming a pet.

Yes, but the disarmed trap is only safe for about 4 seconds.

So have the rogue disarm and say something quick. Hope all the casters can make it across to the hallway safely within 4 seconds.

Next time, I'm going to try to DA past the trap and report if that worked.

Switch to druids on RT, two can do it just fine.

This fight is about balancing mana and dps. Just keep the rot up on the MT, and keep the RT up. If you're having problems keeping the MT up as well, get an RT with Area Taunt, and when the MT's defensive drops, Taunt with the RT and have them go defensive, MT should switch to RT then.

You will know where you stand with AL if you guys dont any problems with Rhags 1 and 2. They are kind a foreshadow to what the AL is like, minus the AE part. If you have problems with Rhags then dont even attempt AL.

With your numbers you should be able to take him, if your raid is focused. Have a tight CH Wheel on MT and Rampage tank, have casters hide from his AE and you should win.

My first AL kill was yesterday and something notable has changed with this guy that I don't see mentioned here.

I see that someone posted a while back that the high level Paladin stuns will work on this guy. Well, that isn't true any more. Myself and the only other paladin in our raid had planned to setup a sort of Force of Akilae (stuns up to level 65 mobs) cycle to try and interrupt as many of his AE's as possible. Unfortunately, when I cast the first time I got the "your target is immune to the stun portion of this effect" message.

So if you're a paladin and hoping to stun this guy, forget about it.

Note: He dropped the Platinum Mesh Guard, the Great Helm of True Vision, and the Bard only Lava Infused Bludgeon.

Happy Hunting

When you're heading to Arch Lich, just before the last room full of shissars, there is 2 traps (one is DOT and the other is a huge mana tap over time), you have to disable both (they are very close, it can be hard for the rogue / bard to distiguish both). Be carefull too, the two traps are called "Arch Lich Rhag`Zadune", so when you see "Arch Lich Rhag`Zadune begin to cast a spell", you didn't agroed AL, only the traps... Rogues will need (I think you can't disarm the traps without trigger it) a remove curse and poison after disarming traps.

Right after the trap, clean as fast as you can the room with 8 shissars (very hard to split, expect to tank 2 or 3 at the same time). There is no time to meditate, or it will repop. When there is only 2 or 3 shissars in the room, bring your group there (fast, repop is fast), and kill the 2/3 shissars. When done pull one guard in the AL room (AL is rooted), kill it. Then bring you group in the AL room to kill the other guard at the entrance. Everybody use the pillars to protect from the AL AE. NOW you can make a break, the guards in the room won't repop. Better avoid standing near the door, you could agro mobs from the previous room.

Kill the 2 others guards, buff up and be ready for the AL fight. Cast mem blur on the AL to clear agro / rampage (it's very important for the rampage).

You need two tanks, one as main tank, one for the AL rampages. AL rampages a LOT, you need a CH rotation on both tanks. Ask the rampage tank to throw an arrow on AL so he is first on rampage list, then the MT. Now you can debuff AL (he is rooted, and won't summon since you didn't make him serious damages with arrows). Now, the MT build his agro on AL (arrows, stun, ...).

One melee should announce when the AL AE is casted (it's a proc, no "AE every x seconds", slow, cripple and paladin stun will reduce the number of AEs). Casters should be always behind the pillars (the AE is a DOT and reduce the mana pool, it's not a mana tap), until the melee announce the AE, then cast one DD on AL (no more than one) and go back behind the pillars until the next AE.

If you fail on AL, cr is easy if a cleric was able to log out, AL regenerates very fast (so will not summon when the cleric will be back), and will not agro if the cleric is behind the pillars, res a monk first to drag corpses and try again until AL is dead :).

Jfyi - Rogues can sense traps so if they sense a trap (either it is triggered or not) they can disarm it.

The problem here is one of the trap is outside the room in the way the other at the door itself or nearby in the room. They are very close together so if the rogue stands by the first one he may trigger the second one.

I'm not 100% sure if the AE is procced or cast, but the AE did seem to take place with decent regularity which would make you think it was cast and not procced. According to Lucy the recast on Deathly Chants is 18 seconds which is what I timed it to between the first few AE's aswell. We did AL as a guildfirst yesterday and the AE's were called eventhough I simply started looking for the spell messages instead as an indication. I had enough time between AE's to cast Tears of Marr (5 sec cast rain spell) + Strike of Solusek (8sec cast fire dd). This was with Blessing of Reverence, Spell Haste IV and Quick Damage 3 AA though for a total of 35% reduced casting time, making for a 3.25sec Tears and 5.2sec Strike.
