Back about ohhhh 6 months ago when I still played EQ I spent about a good 60 hours camping mobs in this zone. The best way to get the Heirophant to spawn is to zone in from the Scarlet Desert, and take a right to the corner there, where it is safe to pull. Go out and pull decayed iksars and kill kill kill. After awhile (the Heirophant has a random chance of spawning with each skelly kill im fairly sure) he will pop with either a sword, a shield or nothing, if he doesnt have anything that means he has the necklace. I was a 57 druid and the best was I pulled him was just to go out there and pull him and whatever buddies are around, since the skeletons are pretty weak. The Heirophant is weaker then the average skeleton for sure. He usually will be standing in the spot of whatever skeleton he replaced, sometimes he moves around a little bit, (one time I was medding and he just walked right into the little valley before the safe wall to sit on (in the corner remember.)

Be careful people with track WILL try to steal your hard work. One time I had this guy popped after 2 hours of killing skeletons, I pulled him and he had the scimitar which I already had one, so I told my other druid friend to get to the grey ASAP. Well some other druid with track came along, saw me sitting there with the Heirophant snared and rooted and me attacking him pretty cleary. (I was trying to keep him alive to give my friend time.) And the other guy just nukes him even after I told him not to, then my friend couldnt get there fast enough, so the other druid just took the loot and left. I hate druids that are like that...

Heirophant probably soloable by a 50+ caster with KEI (without adds) need to be higher level to deal with adds. Be careful because rock monsters will pop on the rocks out in front of the safe corner. BUT just invis and run on those rocks and the monsters will appear and you can let them depop themselves (except shimmering rockfiends will not depop) and sometimes you can get a named rockmonster that also drops nice loot.

Actually it isn't the Decayed Iksars ... it is the "TORMENTED IKSAR" that you need to kill. There aren't any "Decayed" in the zone.

HOWEVER ... all your other information is very accurate.

Your post was helpful but there is something I definitely have to disagree with.

When you said how you had the mob rooted and slowly dotted and then said someone came along and KSed you.. I'm not really convinced you were just the innocent victim. My bard used to solo in Rathe Mts. fighting HGs. At first, for exp+ cash, then just occasionally for cash. I can't even TELL you how much druids would **** me off just by rooting every HG they see and then claiming it to be theirs. I mean seriously, I would see one druid sitting there with 4 HGs rooted. Barely even a dent in any of their health, he was prolly oom and medding with the HGs "reserved" for him. Some druids are just so greedy. Just because you root something doesn't mean its yours if you won't kill it. And I think its really cheap how druids think they can root 3 mobs for 15 minutes stick one dot on each and claim it theirs while they med. Be a little considerate to classes who can't "reserve" mobs like you do.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 24 2003 at 3:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I came here to find info on this Mob, and what do i see? One post about the mob, and the rest of the posts bashing druids.... My god people, why all the hate? Why cant you cope with the fact that one char can kill multiple mobs at the same time, just because someone isnt in the mobs face smashing it with a sword or hammer DOESNT mean that they arnt killing it....because a DOT's take several mins to kill a mob does not give you the right to walk up to it and KS, i mean really...nuff said

The problem that everyone has with druids is because of those poor players of the class that practice the art of mob hoarding. I believe the example laid out was a good one of a poor druid who doesnt know how to play fair. What druids need to understand is that we deserve a fair share too, the world wasnt built for druids to take what they want and leave us scraps. For those who play by the rules, by not kill stealing, we will sometimes have to fight over everyone for a single mob, meanwhile you toss a one second cast spell on a mob and its yours till its dead. I wont steal it from you, but when you got 4 of em piled up, you make people mad because thats four more things that could be in the process of spawning, but instead your sittin on it. if you take 20 mins to kill it, it might mean 20 mins+ whatever respawn is. meaning 1 less mob that everyonehas to fight for. If you bang it out quickly, then fine, but piling em up, and just chillin hurts everyone.

as far as people KSing Druids, Im sure that it can happen, but i wonder how many times you were just kiting by and all of a sudden it seemed your mob was on top of someone else. damn KSer right. I cant tell you how many needless deaths i had in OOT because a druid decided to run right next to me while i was killin something .. his mob sees me hurting his friend .. bashes away at me ... I die .. then druid calls me a KS. ... if only i could punch through the monitor.

anyway.. remember... its the extremes that stand out for anything, and its the worst druids that have a bad name. if you see a fellow druid doing this, point out his errors and maybe he will listen to another druid cause he doesnt listen to us.

Bull.

There is nothing in any forum that says or implies you must kill a MOB in a specified manner, method, or time. If someone engages a mob or many mobs, move on and get your own. I dont ***** about wizs, clerics and other AOE's that round up a whole zone and nukem. Nor do those same people complain when I tell them I am camping a certain spot and not to pull from there. Just because you dont have the ability to put MOBs on ice doesnt give you the right to whine about it.

excuse me, but bards DO indeed have the ability to put a mob on ice. they're called charms and mezzes. but i have never used this ability to "reserve" mobs for 20 minutes.

jeesh. you people are so uptight here. i made one negative post about druids and everyone goes nuts at me. go ahead and rate all my posts down. i don't care. its a friggin message board. and i did post something relevant whether you agree with it or not.

i wasn't defending the KSer. I rated the posters post up that i was replying to even cuz it was helpful.

back when kei was still availible and i was lvl 40-48 i was solo'n the hg's and every now and then i would pull too and root both dot them both with the best dots i had and keep it up, i whould usualy kill them in abouyt the same amount of time it took to kill one, and i know now i could prolly kill them 4 at a time and if i get the chance i will do it.

like they say in the navy, "choose your rate, choose your fate" well same applies here, you chose not to be a druid who can solo 4 hg's at once, so you got to deal with those of us who can do it. there are plenty of more profitable places to farm cash then rath mt, so if you don't like the druids pullin more then one mob do elsewere or quit, simple way to fix it.

also i have seen a bard in ew pulling all the uthorks and walruses in the area near the fort, so druids arenn't the only one who can do the "multi pull" thing, and they were killing them all at once with thier aoe dot or dd they get.
Why is this here?
# May 25 2003 at 9:39 AM Rating: Decent
So how was your reply even remotely pertinant to this? I'm sure you could find a forum somewhere to trash druids on if you'd like.

People that come here to read up on the Grey, don't really have an interest in your bad experiences in Rathe Mountains.

I don't give a **** about HGs people. My god, you complain and ***** and ***** about me saying one bad thing about you little ebay newbie druids yet none of you are bright enough to even grasp the point of my post. I get millions of morons to reply and say "omg dr00ds roxor" and then I have to stoop down to their 4th grade level intelligence and spelling ablilities (revevant?) and I get flamed just for trying to make a point about playing fair.

My point is that it isn't right to let a mob sit for an hour just cuz it has something lore that you can't loot and god forbid, maybe you could let someone else have it and make someone's day.

Heirophant Grazen. I've killed him twice. Got one rapier, one necklace. I've killed hundreds of skeletons, but only seen him twice and yes every time I got him to spawn I killed him right away (what a shocker!).
#REDACTED, Posted: May 25 2003 at 11:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It is here because its relevant to Sroy's post. I am describing a similar situation to Sroy's where he had this mob rooted or "reserved" the same way people do in RM.

Erm, yeah, but there are tons of HGs on RM, and that's why some jerk druids try to reserve them. There only happens to be one Hierophant Grazan up at a time, and if I camped him for hours, then I would definitely be pissed if some random jerk came over and KS'd me, even if I was waiting til a friend got there to kill him. Don't be greedy. He camped it, don't defend the guy who KSd him. Gripe about HGs under the Hill Giant's page.

As Guildmaster for Mobius Continuum on 7th hammer, a guild that has been around for over 4 years, if someone in my guild did that sort of thing more than once he would be looking for a new guild. You help people in game. We go out of our way to help guildmates and we try to help all. As a 51 Paladin I am always buffing lower lvls. My bride, Feydwind, is 49 cleric we both do this as we are almost always together. But, sadly some guilds suck. Had one last night kept trying to steal "Frenzy" from my bride and me. Finally when "Frenzy" popped they pulled a train on us and we died. We had him to 1 bubble, they, of course killed him and looted FBSS. They thought it was amusing...all we lvl 60+ with one being 65..farming L. Guk. We were in their way. Sad to be like that. We are putting a raid together to camp this dude (I LOVE UNDEAD) to get our druids this weapon. We have some very good druids who help all they can in guild and out. Only way to do business. Is why we have people coming to ask us if they can join. There enough said.

Usually I do not post. However I feel the need as I go through and read the post on Uber guilds and attitudes. I have been the victim of many an Uber guild train due to poor placement of my camp. Yeah right that's it poor placement. I mean If I am hunting the grey and killing skellies by the pond I am so in the way of some Uber guild heading to god knows where. I especially enjoy the laziness of clearing a path from DSP to ME on their way to UP. How I love the countless numbers of shrooms and wolves to join me as I am killing hoppers. Everytime they buzz me they con a nice red and I just shake my head and try to protect the weaker amongst me as the train comes barreling down my throat. Oh yeah I am a 54 SK and I play on EMarr. If I cause a train of greenies I am going to kill the buggers or at least make sure I aint going to kill someone in the process. Unlike some of the Uber guilds that play on the same server. I will say however some Uber guilds do have respect for others and do try not to lay waste to every non-guildy in the zone. I am not going to Name any guilds that are good or bad but for those of you out there that fall into the UBER BUTT catagory your day of reckoning will come. In Cazic Thule's name this I do swear. My account may be banned but the shear pleasure of sweet revenge as they attempt to take down Vindi or some other Boss mob while trying to deal with my Uber train would be a joy unto itself :)

LOM, I got my MOSS and the cleric is Dead. Sure pull something.

IM a 55 necro and ive been soloing around the temple for several days now. I can run circles around the temple with undead charm and my slow. I had this guy and he had the shield on. so Iwas like hell yeah. I got him down to 2 bubs and I see this guy run by (not invis) I turn to see where he came from right as I get sschwacked by 5+ shimmering rock fiens and god knows how many wurms. died instantly. the guy was a 64 druid. never responded. I get back loot my corpse cept for one item. I start again. the heirophant wasnt insight so I started fightin the shiss. I start clearin the gols at the ent, just cuz I dont like them there. a 65 pally runs by and the same GDMFDCSing thing happened again. got derailed. now, Im a lil...upset. I ask the guy to rez me after he zones from his train that killed me. he said I didnt cause a train and purty much blows me off, i do a search on his guild and I see them all in SSRA with the druid that killed me the first time. I get the guild leader's name and start talkin to him about it. this guy was a str8 Dizihk. told me I shouldnt have been in their way, and I had better start walking. I mean WTF over. I guess its like the guy said earlier "its the person at the keyboard" and if the guild leader is like that then probably most all the members will be like that.

ARE ALL UBER GUILD LIKE THIS????

shew...i feel better now, the guys at work just wouldnt understand..know what i mean.

There are some real jerks in this game, and then their are kind people. I see more jerks than kind people, but the whole world is like that. Some people just don't care, and it's a sad thing too. If they wanna be asses, just keep on trying. But if it gets too repetetive you might need to petition. It's definately not an accident after a few times, and the GMs will understand and *hopefully* help you out. This goes for anyone with this problem. Most people say GMs don't help, but 3 out of 3 petitions I've sent recently I've gotten help with all of them. (may take some time, the GMs are busy people :-P) But give it a little bit and you'll be back on your feet again. Hope this helps. ;-)

And remember... GMs are you friends!... most of the time :-P

Unless, of course, its a Ceirophant and they typoed it :)

Hierophant....only one way to spell it, regardless of what English speaking country you were raised in.

Actually its "I before E, except after C, only when the sound is 'ee'".

The sound in Heirophant is 'aye' not 'ee' thus E before I.

According to Webster's it's 'hierophant', pronounced high'-uh-roe-fawnt (similar to hierarchy.)

Now if we can just get people straight on the difference between 'tomb' and 'tome' (hint: one is portable, one isn't) ;)

I do all the work and kill everything in the area and then a druid runs in and steals the mob. I have the lowest of low respect for druids now. Too many times they do this and all they say is that I should have been a druid. I have a few druid friends, but it is very few.

Yes, I am a druid, and I would not do what you have described. I think the root of the problem is that most people are inconsiderate morons who think the world revolves around them, a product of a poorly raised generation with slipping morals and ethics, the future doom to the United States.

But, along other lines, see if you can bring a guildie/friendly tracker along with you next time. (Hint: rangers have better tracking abilities than druids.) That way, you have a tracker too!

To be a little more on topic, I camped for this dude for 1 KEI and no spawn. =(

Lumping people into a category usually is a sign of ignorance. There are bad, selfish, and unfair players in every class. I have had many named mobs stolen from me, and it has only been a druid once or twice.

Don't blame your problems on druids. It's the person at the keyboard, not the class of the character.

You must be a druid. I know a few good/cool druids that would help anyone. But, then 90% of them are the loners that KS you after you've spawned a mob because they saw it on track, quad kite in plane of nightmare then when they can't handle it dump their mobs on you, kite right over you, etc, etc, etc. Lets face it, druids are the class that everyone loves to hate because 9 times out of 10 (90% :D) are pains in the asses, greedy, and disrespectful.

I don't normally resort to childish name-calling on message boards, but to say that 90% of all druids are "loners that KS you after you've spawned a mob because they saw it on track, quad kite in plane of nightmare then when they can't handle it dump their mobs on you, kite right over you, etc, etc, etc" is moronic. Yes, there are a lot of inconsiderate, jerk druids out there. Yes, that percentage tends to be higher for druids than most of the other classes. But to say 90% of them are jerks is, as the person you replied to said, ignorant.

If 90% of all druids were as bad as you claim, given the number of druids out there (more than any other class, except warriors, by a large margin) EQ would be virtually unplayable.

Here's why I think you hate druids so much:

1. Druids have more abilities (that doesn't necessarily mean they are more powerful) than any other class.

2. These abilities tend to attract a lot of self-centered jerks to the class.

3. Because of these abilites, druids are more capable than any other class when it comes to disrupting the play experience of others.

4. Whether you realize it or not, there's a good chance that you are somewhat jealous of some of the abilities that druids have and this increases your hatred of the class. "I really wish I had tracking right now", "I really wish I could port myself to <insert zone that druids can port to here>", "I really wish I had snare right now", and so on and so forth.

5. You've been turned down in the past for ports, sow, buffs, etc. and this increases your misguided belief that all druids are jerks.

I am a friendly druid, and I do everything in my power to protect my rep. I don't quad kite in crowded areas, don't KS, am amiable about buffs and ports when I'm not doing anything, etc. However, if a mob I want to kill appears on tracking that isn't a triggered quest spawn and isn't already engaged by another player, I'm going to try to kill them, regardless of whether you, or anyone else, likes it or not. I have as much right to a spawn as you do, and the fact that I have tracking and am therefore more likely to get to the spawn before you is not my fault.

No, he is right. All druids suck.

Well I must say I read through all the posts on this subject and I will admit that many of the druids out there are...ignorant of the fact that other people may have been killing mobs to try to spawn a specific one. I will agree with the one post about calling a camp check when entering the zone. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be dumping on druids when there are plenty of other classes out there that can and do KS better then druids. The world is full of retarded people who always look for a short cut to get what they want and most of the time they get stuck in the end because most dont want to associate with them. I have seen alot of people like this in-game and in the guilds i have been part of once you were labeled as a idiot you were promptly removed from the guild. Regardless of what you may or may not think of druids they are a good class with a wide range of skills, they may not be the most wanted class for a group but thats one of the reasons they are so good at soloing.

Nothing is more disappointing then working on a cycle for 2-3hours trying to get a named to spawn and then have some jack off with track see it up and run and try to take it. get me all steam up just like druids camping the AC in Sro and OOT **** off you all have SoW leave the AC for those of us that dont have it and dont tie up camps to make a quick buck you can port and do that ****

I would have to agree with Midayl :) It is the person behind the keyboard. I myself ALWAYS ask for camp checks if I am after a named mob. There have been many times when I have been in zones, where I have received tells asking if this or that mob is on track. I have lost count of the times I have tracked Hasten or Brother Z for peeps in RM. It all depends on the people behind the keyboard.

Also, as far as camping the AC goes, I have to agree to an extent once again with Midayl on the free enterprise. I bet druids would stop camping the AC when the price of a Jade Axe comes down from 30k....

Once ive got a train of about 30 or 40 of these hard hitting skellies nipping at my heels I head straight for the scarlet desert zone line. then i gate over to the mons zone line and train another 30 or 40 skellies to that zone in. that way im assured that when guys like you zone in (even if your invis) you get pummeled and i can just kick back and watch the fireworks! ahhh the life of a tracker can be so grand :)

While I understand the spirit of your post was to flame druids (no problem with that even though I am a druid myself. Although, think I can find at least one jacka** monk or ranger to line up with each jacka** druid I have come across Smiley: disappointed ) I do think it's unreasonable to get upset with druids camping the AC because they already have SoW.

In the spirit of a free economy, its ridiculous to think that only someone who can use the loot can camp the spawn. While I agree with your idea in principle, its never gonna happen. Its about as realistic as getting people to give away dropped spells since they can't use them, or to sell Blue diamonds for what they are really worth. To state that I should not participate in that free economy is just plain silly (although personally, I will never camp the AC because I have better sh*t to do with my time Smiley: sly ). As far as ports go. If I have time to port you, it means I ain't busy, and if I ain't busy, how can I justify charging for my time? If I am busy, I ain't porting, period.

Secondly, I would implore that you and everyone else not judge all of us Druids by the actions of some of our class members. While there may be very few of us, I am also a druid that checks camps BEFORE I start killing everything on track. However, I don't do it because I am a druid, I do it because its the right thing to do. Further, the people I group with (I love my guild =) ) demonstrate the same behavior. If I group with someone that doesn't care to respect other people's camps, I will either invite that individual to leave the group (if in the majority) or leave myself as I don't want to tarnish my image. As I said before, I can think of at least one idiot ranger or monk to line up right next to every idiot druid I have run across. It's not the class, its the person sitting at the keyboard.

Mm.. well I use my tracking for another use; when I'm hunting a specific mob I know others are after, I check to see what other players are nearby on track because chances are they're after the same thing I am. And I make a point to ask those people if they're already hunting it. Common courtesy, you know?

Dunno who these Druids are that are doing this but they sure sound like asses. Anyway I think it's more of a personality thing rather than a class thing =P
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 09 2002 at 12:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) is not a personal thing neither a class thing is about the idiots out there that are greedy have no honor. to be honest im in for the nerf of track . dont let it show named mobs. list their race type of mob or something other then the name. what do i mean by that??? well say you in grey and you after a this guy, make it to were all the iksar slaves appear as iksar skeleton or iksar undead. say there is a named golem walkign around make it to were it shows a golem not the named like that druid can still track the mob still and knwo the difference on their lvl but is fair to the toerh that dont have track. on the other hand why would this be fair you ask me ? well you got the farming suckers out there in my server is this druid / necro combo alwasy going around stealing named what they do ? the druid necro invis by pass a group that is working them self up to the named necro pulls the named with prenerfed/fd combo thanks to the druids trackign ability and wala done. (btw im a necro and play a 55 druid) its sad to see all these peeps that would love to have this gear (none twink) and cant cause some uber guild farming sob needs 5 more k to buy his lvl 1 cleric a fungi.

Personally I think it is a class thing with druids. *Most* druids I encounter have been like what he described... EVEN when I have been grouped with them. There are rare exceptions, but they are VERY Rare, I hope you are one of them Mfcox.

Zbones/Swiftbones/Daeandor, of course you don't mean fellow guildies, right? Hehehe...I think you and I are in The Haunted Fold. As a Druid, I like taking the occasional moment and going to either WC or Misty Thicket and throwing SoW/Skin like Nature/Storm Strength/Chloroplast on someone <20 and let them have a blast.

And, I only ask for a donation to port, like Enchanters do for KEI. On a CR? If I have time, I will help ya..

My 2 cents...

My first day at level 58 I went in on my druid and quaded four sets of skellies in NE corner, and got him to pop at least five times in about as many hours (roughly even four to five sets, with KEI). The next FOUR days were hell, other than the 21 people in zone training anything that breathes, or doesn't, but also 6 sets, I checked tracking while medding each time and NOTHING.

6 hours turned into 8, into the next day, and the next and the next. I DO think that the rocks have something to do with his spawn.

Early on I hunted in the Grey when Luclin was new. I have killed Grazan over 20 times with just about an equal amount of scim/ necklace drops. I have never seen the shield drop. Had to buy the one I have =P At some point they nerfed him and made him spawn much less. Since that change I have only seen him twice =/

The Katta quest shield which is easily obtained is AC 25, Wis +20, Cha +8, Sv Magic +12. Sorry but I have no interest in this shield dropped here. This loot is in lit\ne wiht the low level mob it drops off. NOt junk but not really very good either

The buckler is worth more then the katta quest shield for its mana alone not to mention the added HP. You will learn soon enough

ummm yeah lol your usefullness is directly preportional to your mana bank. When ya have max wis with either the bane warding or this sheild in hand then this sheild wins out merely do to the mana

I agree, the graphics on this shield suck for as nice an item as it is. Seems they dropped the ball on this item and made up for it with the BHS, which sells for more than its worth because of its looks.

I just thought that I would clear this all up in one fell swoop. In the game of Everquest there are two forms of Heirophants: one is the level 60 druid and one is Iksar Shamen. Because this skeleton has the graphic of an undead iksar, it is NOT a Druid but is instead a Shaman. Whether or not it casts ANY spells has no bearing on what the game lore says it would be.

This is not a flame, just clearing ups omething hat people get mistaken a lot.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 17 2002 at 2:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) And a heirophant would be what exactly? Ah yes, level 60 druid. Thanks, you can sit down now.
