Killed this guy as a level 100 enchanter today. I had Legion of Xolok Rk. II (Mitigate Spell Damage by 20%, 34553 total) and Glyph Spray 2 (Increase Absorb Magic Damage by 50000) up and he literally DT'd me for 3000 points of damage. So If you are looking to take him down, get some enchanter spell shield love before you go up! I had all my other regular runes up as well, like Eldrich Rune and that absorbs most damage, even mod rods and at max level it absorbs 100,000 damage so it must bypass regular runes, so get spell shields! I nuke took him down.

Anyone that can burn him between DT:s can do this mob.
1. Have a merc tank attack a trash mob.
2. Invis and run to KoS.
3. Set merc on passive and wait for merc to come near KoS, merc will take the DT.
4. Burn KoS before next DT.
I did this with a lvl 80 druid so i guess any caster at that lvl can do it.

Lifetaps work great. Was hitting him with highest level tap for 3K. No problems.
He summons.
Did this with a mage, another necro and myself. Mage (Svar, thanks man!) initialized and was instantly dropped. KoS deathouches on initial agro with a huge agro range. He does not see invis. I tried Soul Reaper's pyre, didn't stick. Tried Dyn'leth's Grasp. Didn't stick. Started lifetapping. That stuck. The other necro hit him with lifeburn for 11k. I should've lifeburned..(26K) and we could've had him without my death. Got him to about 12 percent with 85 rogue pet with EM1, mage weaps and mask, and a few taps. I died and other necro finished him off with taps.
Pop mercs. Mercs take DT's, as well.

For me he spawned EXACTLY 60 minutes from the time the first trash mob died (on island 4). also when the first trash mob dies, Nottap Ekim spawns and begins the 60min timer for Keeper of Souls. he also begins his own timer of 120min, which once is reached Nottap himself will despawn and you can kill another trash mob on island 4 to start another KoS/Nottap spawn cycle.
I chain spawned KoS 6 times in a row (over an entire day in PoSky) and all respawn/despawn timers were the same. 60min for KoS, 120min for Nottap to despawn.
hope this helps for anyone trying to spawn KoS more than once!

I ate the death touch while my group took the Keeper out in about 20 seconds. The cape dropped on the first kill. Drop rate has been upped imo.
I am seeing up to 3 Black Silk Cape drop off this guy each time now.

To all you necromancer's out there do your pre-quest instead have tried about 16 times to get the black silk cape off of KoS and still nothing.

Spawns after all mobs on the Island have been killed, DT'ed me for 94k HP, must have a group that can do enough DPS to minimize the times KOS can DT.

Spawn time Is 60 to 85 mins upon the death of first mob on island, i was getting mixxed ideas on this guy, even research seemed a bit off. Was getting people saying once island clear he spawns or the 60-85 min thing or 5 mins upon another mobs death. Took a zerker friend to own this guy up, sadly he is LD and the mobs up, think im gonna watch him despawn. Oh well always tomorrow

KOS DT is no longer just a 10K dt, it is an instant death hits for 99K. Also it comes now about every 30 seconds

Does he also DT pets? The reason I am asking this is pets are immune to being banished by the 4 guildmasters in Sanctus Seru. So, I was wondering if the Keeper of the Souls could not DT a mage pet for instance due to some game bug or something similar to pets not getting banished in SS.

Today we attempted to get as many keys as we could for Plane of Sky.
Tried to kill Keeper of Souls with 62 warrior, 70 paladin, 74 druid, and 68 mage.
Got it down to 48%. Not enough DPS to handle the 45 second death touch refresh.

Interesting fact and why I think it happens.
To spawn this mob, you have to kill 1 "A soul carrier" or "an essence harvester".
Upon the death of the first these, Nottap Ekim spawns out of your reach somewhere in the center of the zone. I have a theory why and it IS related to KoS.
My guess is that he is a timer mob. It goes like this.
1. A soul carrier or an essence harvester is killed. At that moment, 3 things happen.
EQ Checks. Is Nottap Ekim in zone?
---------Yes -- Don't do anything.
---------no ----Start timer for KoS to spawn, Spawn Nottap Ekim.
So timer starts that counts down to when KoS spawns. Also Nottap Ekim is given a Despawn timer and that starts to count down, say 150 minutes.
2. Now you kill a 2nd mob, either A soul carrier or an essence harvester.
EQ Checks. Is Nottap Ekim in zone?
---------Yes -- Don't do anything.
---------no ----Start timer for KoS to spawn, Spawn Nottap Ekim.
Since Nottap Ekim is in zone, EQ doesn't start a 2nd timer for a 2nd KoS to spawn.
How do I test this theory? Easy, I killed only 1 of the 6 mobs, waited for KoS to spawn, killed him. Then I killed a 2nd mob while Nottap was still in zone and waited. No KoS spawned.
Afterwards I waited for Nottap Ekim to despawn on his own and killed a 3nd mob. Then waited to see if KoS spawned again. He did.
The reason Nottap is out of range of any islands is so that raids can't spawn multiple KoS's by killing Nottap and farm KoS's drops easliy.
If anyone wants to sit it out and spawn 6 KoS's. Here's how to do it.

2. Park a cleric out of range of where KoS spawns and not help in the fight with KoS.
3. When till KoS spawns, kill him and die. Have cleric drag bodies away and rez. Loot up.

This requires most of your raid/group to have keys already so they can move on. If they have keys, they can just move to the next island instead till Nottap despawns, jump off, jump down or wizzy port back to isle 1 and run back and repeat.
I a betting Nottap Ekim is on about a timer of 150 minutes. KoS's random timer is 65 to 100 minutes and another 30 for despawning. So the wait time is gonna be long if you want to do this.

Very informative. I think you hit it right on the head.
When KoS spawns, buff up your DPS, use only damageing buffs that proc or add attack first then what ever you want afterwards. Have cleric stay back, send in rest with invis up. Circle KoS and have everyone target him. !st person Eats DT, 45 seconds to max damage. 2nd person Eats DS if kos not dead. Now...if all wipe, cleric is still out back with Invis up. Run his little behind over, drag corpses away and rez, rebuff and try again, why? Cause KoS can't see invis and HAS A SLOW HP REGEN.
did a 3 man, cleric in back, ranger for dps and shaman to eat DT, 3 deaths and KoS down. Cleric rezed shaman 3 times, ranger 3 times for a loss of 12% xp each but no biggie. A full group should be able to kill in 1 shot.

Just took him down 10 minutes ago, no BSC drops but a raid of 9 mostly all 70 (brought a bot with for the initial cazic touch attack) and had one cleric sit back just to rez...maybe next time

Well we cleared the island down to two mobs, did know he would spawn early ( it didnt take us 80 mins to clear the island) Ofcorse we wiped, no one was alive to hold agro or kill it fast enough. I tried my best to get the group back up there to try again, needless to say he despawned . now i return and kill the last few mobs, will he respawn ?if so how long ? any ideas ?

If I remember correctly DT travels through the pet directly to you. So no, pets won't take the DT for you sadly. Though a DT is interruptable, though it's a matter of luck rather than skill. I've seen a warrior's kick stun the spiroc boss right as it was going to DT and it interrupted.

sort of old post.. anyway.. if your a necro, can't you FD and send pet's in? because it shouldn't DT you while in FD, unless FD fails and you didn't notice it. Even if it did DT, maybe it would DT the pet.. then send the raid in? just a theory.

at one time, this might have been possible... I've heard it to be true.. but I think not any more. I was FD in Fear, and pet chain agro'd thru to a DTing golem, even while FD, I took the DT. I was prolly FD for 30 sedonds at that point.

this time we killed him with 5 people (wiz, war, rog, clr, necr - all 70ies)...he went down fast with 3 DT, clr kept rezing ppl.
hope to get this drop soon, my guildies hate this zone with a passion :o(
iam glad those keys wont vanish anymore after zoning out. means you can go straight up invis without botherin with lower isles. keep your bag full of keys banked, there is always a necro in need ;o)

After Forever >80 min from first kill on island we killed the Overseer and about 5 min later KoS spawned lost 2 to DT and lo and behold he dropped to BSC two necros very happy

Killed this horsey with 7 tonight. 70 cleric, 60 cleric, 70 wiz, 70 chanter, 70 monk, 67 war, 70 shaman. Was still a tuff kill though. and at the end only one person was standing.. luckily it was a cleric to rez us back up.

Took him out today, had all newbie gear (was probably good for its time) but the cape did not drop. Hopefully next time. Need to make sure everyone has keys before coming here as most of our time getting to camp was clearing the other islands.

KoS has approx 25k HP give or take. Does DT every 30 seconds, and hits for approx 300-400. KoS can perform double hits in one round.
Not sure how long it took us, but as soon as the 4th island was clear...KoS spawned.

Note The first kill on this island (one keeper is on) starts the invis 80min timer. The cape did drop on my first kill of it. I was most pleased because this is the end if 1.0 for me!

Killed him tonight on lanys. Dropped Black Silk cape among other stuff. Being a necro, that was all I was worried about! Took a raid of thirteen peeps. He dropped pretty quick.

This it true its 80min from the time you kill the first mob on Island not from the start of raid. i have killed this mob 6 or 7 times now and its always 80 mins... it you set a timer from the timwe the frist mob dies ( some say engauged ) you will get him to pop 80 mins later

I don't know about this 80 minute spawn timer BS. We got to this isle about 120 mins after we started raid, and waited another hour after. Finally someone got a hunch, and aggro'd Overseer of Air, Keeper spawned RIGHT away

First I thought this thing was bugged but our stubborn asses stayed there 10 minutes after we wiped the whole island.
All I can say is that CT is no joke, if you have a low amount of people this guy can be done easy though with 1 cleric and another healer and some dps. In our case it was 1 War, 1 Beast, 1 Necro, 1 Mage, 2 Clerics, 1 Wiz. Beast took initial CT by sending pet so nobody had to drag his corpse.
On CT Warrior and other Engaged with pets, 1 Cleric dragged corpses OOR and rezed, while the other healed the tank at the time. After about 3 or 4 CT's the mob was dead. -_-

OK i've lead 2 raids to the 4th island so far and cleared it both times. No Keeper. Whats the deal? How do you get him to Spawn????
Also drops Fine Velvet Cloak for the coveted Dark Cloak of the Sky (Ranger) PoS quest. Frustratingly rarely, naturally.

Have you tried using a Paladin with divine stun to tank it? divine stuns and pop stuns should hit this mob np and prolong the period of time between death touches. I have seen this technique used with a few DT capable mobs that were unstunnable except for divine stun pre-pop, the pop spells also hit them now as most have a lvl limit of 65 or higher. Divine stun is an AA ability paladins recieve. 400 is not enough dmg to need defensive skill for if your tank is a fairly high level with decent gear.

From what I have seen and heard, I believe the follwing will work. I have not tried it.
He DT's every 30 seconds – this is a 20,000 HP harm touch. I do not know if it can be resisted. I have never seen it resisted.
Follow timer from first kill carefully. You need to be ready for this guy. 80 minutes from first kill on the island he will pop. If he suprises you and it takes you a few seconds to stand up and get going... well.. read on:
1st sacrifice a druid or ranger. He opens with a DT. First one to get agro dies.
After the first sacrifice, the SA (Secondary Assist – Second Tank) moves in and gains and holds agro followed by the MA (Primary Assist – Main Tank).
Unless he can be dropped in under a minute, 3 people will die. He hits for 400. So as soon as the SA dies (at 30 seconds into the fight) everyone burns it down and goes full offensive. Max DPS. If he is not killed within 90 seconds of the first DT, that being 30 seconds after MA gets killed, you likely have a wipe.
Might also be a good idea to have a SK holding agro as MA. You will want to hold agro through massive chain nuking once SA dies.
Main cleric gets off a celestial and a few CH's and then camps before MA goes down. Do not wait for call to Camp - Just do it. A monk or a necro will also need to go invis and FD and be prepared to move corpses. He will corpse camp. He despawns after 80 min. You will get two tries to drop him. Three if you are fast.
Other options that I have considered include having cleric gain heal agro and DA though a death touch. It might buy you another 30 sec. Dont know if it would be worth it though.

sacrifice a ranger? kinda stupid imo, they provide way too much damage (friend just clocked over 20k damage in a 57 second fight)
DA doesn't block DT just so you know (I have been DT'd by Yael while DA'd).

Yeah, but it's traditional :).
Also, they can probably be click-rezzed back in, grab their bow, and start doing decent damage to the mob without needing to wait for hit points and mana to regenerate. In comparison, a tank without hit points or a caster without mana isn't much use.

Killed the Keeper on Sunday after a long ass raid
