Foolish druids
# Apr 11 2003 at 12:01 PM Rating: Decent
I've read quite a few of these post and lots suggest getting other druids to help you camp the Elysians.

All I can say is - look beyond your own class and for heaven sake if you need help with them get a necro or chanter to help you. Pay them if you have to. Why? necros/chanters can charm the lower ones, haste them and use them as uber pets. Combined with their ability to slow the Elysians you pull you can chew through them at quite a rate. All the druid has to do is keep the pet snared, heal it once in a while and pull.

Duoing with a 62 druid we were pulling 4 or 5 at a time just to liven things up.

Only significant adds to be aware of are the dark assassins - unsnarable/unrootable. If one adds do nothing but get it to the pet and let it take agro. Even the shadowy assassin was easy for the pet to take down once it had agro, which didnt take long as it had 70pc haste.

As for HP root dot suggests 20k is a fair estimate - obviuosly varying with the mobs level.

As for loot the tunic and crown are much rarer than other drops - we finished when we had one of each by which time we had seen MANY multiples of all the other armour drops.

Any idea what the skulls are for?

Now if only all the other classes could get a full suit of armour this easily.....

sadly i hardly see necro's lfg despite that there is a valuable though rare research component on their loottable. I've seen several groups wich include one or 2 necro's grinding these mobs like mad. And i sure wouldn't mind duoing with some necros. Now if we only could get a shammy and beastlord to complete the party the corrupted elder would be on the menulist too. But as said again i rarely see necro's lfg they seem to come as a part of parties and mostly do great.

Hehe!

What does a necro there? Nothing to loot, bad xp/time, and dont forget Druids are a solo class, so i think u should think before write such foolish subjects.

And yes, i have an idea what the skulls are for. It seems u did not really read my post.

Amen to necros! As a 50 druid, I duo/trio with a 52 mage and 63 necro. These things were a cinch, and none of us had C3 (i know, I know, necros don't need it, but he only had lich up half the time...). 12 kills:

2x boots
2x mark of retribution
1x Disinfecting aura
many, many gems (on average, 2 a kill)

We were getting desperate, but the boots dropped both of our last 2 kills. Another druid there let me loot tunic, since she was only looking for crown/legs.

On the downside, there was another druid there, 9 hours straight, who logged 5 armor drops in just over 200 kills, and no soe...

But, yeah...bring a necro with you. Only complaint on the necro's part was that elysians resist too many "unresistable" necro spells, and were taking almost 45m a kill. mage pet/necro pet ate through them fast though, perhaps 1 1/2 minutes a kill.

Morains you kill me. What was a necro doing there? Well you answered that in your post didnt you... "after killing them for a week..." A week?
As a duo we were done and dusted in a few hours.

You mention how fast the kills were duoing with another druid. Fast kills huh? Well that would be about as fast as a necro and druid root rotting them wouldnt it - except you had to share the drops and my friend didnt. I'd be surprised if you could root rot them in much under 5 minutes whereas with a pet we were dropping 1 a minute while staying at or near FOM all the time without the need for KEI.

Oh, and what was your strategy when you got 2 or 3 adds? Run to the zoneline like a big pansy by any chance?

What did I get out of it? Well I expected nothing but the little (and I mean little) exp we would get. What I did end up with however (in addition to a happy friend) was about 2k's worth of gems and spells and stuff and a nice little cloak from the shadowy assassin. I'd love to see a druid or even a pair of druids try and take him down, but a for a necro/druid duo he was easy. We would have had the hive fiend too if it hadnt have run off so fast.

So Morains before you flame someone for posting a valid and useful strategy stop and think next time. It was the players like yourself I was trying to help. Look beyond the boudaries of your own class and come up with some strategies of your own sometime. You never know. You might help someone somewhere sometime.

For those of you who were interested in my origianl strategy may I add a little tip.. pick up a couple of pet weapons from DSP or wherever before you hit UP - the DPS of a charmed Elysian seems to be increased when given 2 weapons though I have not parsed the logs to be sure.

What does a necro do there? Here's a thought: maybe a necro is helping out a druid friend. You know, the way people do, in groups. Its not all about xp and personal loot.

Druids are a solo class? Oh come on! Druids are a great class to solo with, but that doesn't mean that druids can't group or don't group. There's a line between knowing how to play classes, and stereoptyping, and far too many people cross it.

The person you criticise for being "foolish" posted a great druid/necro strategy for taking out these guys that I can tell you works a charm. I'd take that "foolish" advice over that rubbish any day.
Solo: Single pull tactic

Ok, here what I (54 DRU without epic) have learned, while getting my tunic at least:

1) Get KEI

Our slim friends have a lot of HPs. With KEI u have more mana, and on the other hand the regen is very important, because they often resist your root, and your manabar goes down fast without medding. And when u have the time to medd between your dots, fast regen is very important. (had around 2650 mana and 221 Wis without KEI, when i did the tunic)

2) Be INVIS while pulling

Only the skellies (and the fallen soldiers) can see through invis. All other mobs are indiff to u, when u are invis. Well it makes a bit nrevous not to know when u will appear, while sitting on the wall waiting four "your" ellie. Life is much better having improved superior camouflage. U cast the spell, click the timer on your watch (or something else), and u can pull without hectic. Well, I went after two days in UP to GD. Killed 5 days this cristalline shardwurms, twice the matriarch - no spell! Finally I found it in the bazaar for 25pp !!! (instead of 3k to 4k, that are the usual prices for it). Never seen me running so fast ;o)). Lucky lucky lucky. With using that spell, pulling was much safer, because I could now wait for the "right" pull, instead of risking a bad pull, only because I didnt know how long I will be invis. And also, being a self-only spell, it means that u dont have to change the target, when u cast invis again for the run to the valley. (pulling far away from the valley this helps against adds)

3) Form of the Howler

+3 Mana Regen, fast running, and looks nice anyway. Any questions? ;o)

4) Dont pull them from the house!

I tried several tactics to pull from the house:

- Ensnare No1 Ely. No1 and No2 stand up and attack.
- Going near enough to get into the aggro range of ely1. Tried from all four sides of the house. Results: Always two of them are standing up and attack you. GATE, otherwise you are deat within 15 sec... I died two times :o(
- Lvl 9 harmony does not work, so I used harmony of nature. Harmony on Ely1 - could not targeting No 2 or 3, came to close - No2 and 3 stand up attacking me. (Bad luck: a wandering mob joined the party...I died)

So i gave up pulling from the house.

5) Pull from the wall
When I pulled from the wall, the life was much safer. Just sitting there and watching the scene. Several skellies are wandering around, but also the summoning mobs. Take care, if a skellie has a tail - its a fallen soldier!! unfortunately, they are summonig. You die have been summoned. (I died..)Sometimes the skellies come near to the wall - time to pull. I tried twice: Pulling with aggro range (when I was far from the safe valley, and no improved sup camo), and with ensnare. With ensnare camo fades, but also, when you were hit by the skellie, so I pulled with both tactics, both are working. But: Remember what mobs are wandering to the way to the valley, so run along the wall. Once aggroed, the skellies dont forget u. They will follow you to bring you their loot ;o).

6) Beeing grouped with other druids

Sometimes I was grouped with other druids. Wow! Very fast kills, because the DOTs are stacking. One is pulling, one, and only this one, is rooting, and all together are Dotting. Most of the druids there have already some armour parts, so grouping is not a problem for loot. And remember: Liefe is much easier, the kills are much faster, so the chance for the loot you want is much higher.

7) Adds from other other hunters

Ok, the safe valley is the only spot here to kill our friends. So it will happen, that you are not alone, and unsocial druids whant do their own way, and not grouping. So more then one skellie is runing in the valley to be killed. No problem. If an other guy has aggroed an ely, it is his ely. It will not aggro you, unless you dont attack it.

8) How to kill (also the red ones)

So, finally you have KEI, Form of the howler, pulled an elysian and brought it to the valley. No adds so life is nice to you ☺.
When you snared the ely, you will next root it. And then? Then DOT with winged death, and perhaps drones of doom from your arm-item, and thats it. No more Dots then these! Because Breath of ro is resisten very often, and drifting death does not so much damage, they are wasted mana. Wasted because of you use your time better in regenerating mana than in standing around and casting little dam spells. And you will need the mana. Dont believe the ely is rooted for 3 min, when you cast the engulfing. sometimes, they stand only a tick, and root was only a low DD spell, and you have no time to med, because of casting already the next root. It takes time to kill these, but also reds (to 54) can be killed easy that way.
Use the whole vally. Not only the south part, also the western can be used as a huge area. But take care of the guardians at the entrance to Vex Thal.

9) Binding point

It is a long run through ME to get into UP. A long run in panic, because, when an undead see you running invis through th zone, he will aggro you (I died..). So I bound myself in UP in the tunnel. Not at the point where egress brings you, because this is a party-camp-spot, but a little behind. I used this binding point, because I cast gate in 4.3sec instead of egress in 5sec, and I was not sure.
Whenever the situation goes critical - gate! (or egress). when you do it like me, remember to zone to ME and back to clear the hate-list of the mob. (ok, now you have to cast form of the howler again, but hey 0.7 sec can save your life often)

Thats it. and after killing these for one week, I got my tunic. ok, and I got also 4 skulls for the Vex thal quest (?) and the crown, and the boots, but i never use them, because I already bought better items for that slots.

So have a nice time there. It is worth.

What is the Elysian Skull (nodrop) for? if you know would be helpful, thx

Also, glowing elysians drop nothing special, just a emberstone or such.

From what i know...

4 skulls get you on your way to the key to Vex Thal.

You must hail Vah Kerrath to get the first quest, and give him 4 skulls to get the main quest (see Talisman of Akelha Ra).

You need the talisaman to get in Vex Thal. And it's one of the hardest key to obtain in the game.

Ok So I am 58 now and pretty much gave up on my tunic. I just port in now and again when I have a spare min. Well yesterday i port in and am alone. I kill 1 and legs drop. I already have legs so I give a tell to this guy that popped in the zone before to come get them. He comes in nabs the legs and decides to pull one. (His 1st ever pull) He gets boots. So I am thinking to myself, this stuff drops in waves, and he could get the tunic on the next pull. So I ask him if he wants to group and take everything that drops minus the tunic. He agrees. The very next pull drops the tunic!!! 3 kills 3 drops!!! I GOT MY TUNIC. We pull again and arms drop. It was amazing!! 4 pulls and 4 drops. In 15 mins he got Legs, Boots and Arms and I got my tunic! I was so happy. I must have killed about 300 of these, (You can see my list of 20 I did one afternoon) and was so sick of this place. I am NEVER going back. I GOT MY TUNIC! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Current experience with droprates of items in terms of rarety:
1 armplates
2 crown
3 tunic.

On one day i had 4 tunics drop on me. The lvl of the mobs is not important for the drops and yes you are right it is certainly waves. it's spelltime gemtime armortime and bonepowdertime. Now i'm not reqally keeping up any statistics, and i hunt a lot during euro-daytime wich might also influence the drops. But at this moment. (may 2003) the rarest armordrop to me is certainly the armplate. Maybe they've altered the droptables a bit during one of the patches, and only tunare knows how long it'll stay this way but at this moment tunics are not the rarest item.

Best thing to do here is solo, or partner with another druid. Nobody but druids would generally be fighting Elysians anyway. Remember, the same DoT, cast by different people, will stack. Use the invis-pull method to get one, snare it and start DoTting. If you worship Tunare, do the Felwithe quest for the Warden Symbol of Tunare for the free root, and use that to hold them down so you can med during the fight. They have 12k-15k hp, certainly not 20k as is mentioned below. It took 93 Elysian kills before druid had a full set. 2 pieces, however, were obtained from other druids who found pieces they didn't need.

In those 93 kills, here are the drops:
Tunic - 2
Bracers - 4
Legs - 1
Gloves - 1
Boots - 1

We also got AT LEAST one of each spell on that list.

If you plan on bringing a regular melee group to fight these here's some info. They range from 53 to level 57. They have around 20,000 hitpoints. They can be slowed and snared. The level 53-55 ones can be stunned. The level 56-57 ones cannot be stunned and also enrage at 10% health. When they do enrage have the MA turn off auto attack but continue taunting while everyone else stands behind the mob and attacks. The enrage only lasts ~7 seconds. Average hit is around 120 with a max hit of 199. They do double attack and bash. None of them summon regardless of level.

As a side note -- when pulling them, if a Netherbian Ravager is near by it WILL aggro you if its anywhere near the one you pull. As will other Elysians. All other mobs are non-social (that i've seen so far).

Well, after seeing a friend's suit of Elysian and finally reaching level 54, I decided to try for some of my own. I read the posts here and became somewhat nervous about attempting to solo these..
Btw, my Wisdom with KEI is around 235-240..

Anyway, I journeyed across Maiden's eye, narrowly avoiding death. Got into Umbral, and found the general area with the Elysians. Not sure if I was in the "safe corner" or not - it was near a fort thing with giant earth elementals outside. I checked track, and saw that there was one white con elysian, a couple yellows and a red or two. I was invis, and so far nothing had seen me. I was tracking the white con when one of the yellow ones appeared and started beating on me, so I high-tailed it back to the edge of the zone. It took 3 attempts, but snare finally stuck. Never had a resist on grasping roots, although it often broke after 10 seconds or so. It took some time, as stated in other posts, but I was able to keep it rooted and dotted with not much trouble at all.

I would say the fight was similar to killing the Allizewsaur in OOT... rather easy, but just takes time.

Dropped a Tunic (woot!) and some sort of gem - Luclinite or something.
I know where I will be spending the next few days :)
Undead fearing
# Dec 24 2002 at 1:10 AM Rating: Decent
Just wondering if a druid/paladin combo would work. Druid snaring/dotting and paladin fearing and slashing at its back. Any pathing problems where fearing might not be a good idea? Just wondering, any input greatly appreciated.
RE: Undead fearing
# Jan 09 2003 at 11:17 AM Rating: Decent
Not usually a good idea to fear in any zone unless your pally or necro or cleric or sk or whatever happens to be fearing has done so in that zone before. The pathing for fear is usually the same as when a mob is running away low n life. Whatever direction the person who casts is facing will usually be the direction the mob runs, until it reverses o go the oposite direction, or the fear wears off.

Another good rule of thumb is to scout out a good kiting spot with plenty of space and fea it there. That way, if it goes toward trouble you'll have plenty of advance wrning, and can root it and med until root breaks, and it gets feared again in a manner that makes it go away from the trouble.

I would also suggest using DoTs overall, if yu are going to use this tactic, so you can med during the fight, while your fearing peep slashes away at it (assuming they are not a cleric). Then, you can have enough mana to handle whatever strays happen to add long enough for the original mob to die, then start kiting the other.

I recommend KEI. I recommend FT. I recommend a horse. I'm not too specifically sure about Umbral, but I know most high level Luclin zones have had a good potential for disaster when doing any form of kiting.

Also, BLEEBER!

Not sure where you guys are hunting but I just spent 12 hours straight hunting Elysians and seen 6 pcs of armor so far. Also at lvl 54 I got 1 full yellow. Its not nearly as common a drop as ppl are making out. There also doesnt seem to be a number.. u can kill 20 and not get anything then kill 4 and get 4 pcs. about 21000 hitpoints though and best to partner hunt it.

I was 14 elysians for 0 pieces then the next one (2 days later) dropped the armplates, then within the next 6 I got boots, gloves, and the tunic. I got the leggings while grouped with another druid, and both bracers solo some time later. I have not seen the Crown drop in what must be about 30 kills, either grouped or solo... I'm still looking for it.
Love this gear
# Nov 22 2002 at 6:22 PM Rating: Excellent
I hunted the elysians for about 2 hours a night for a week (14 hours) and had a full set. The crown and chest pieces were the most rare. I am not saying that the crown and tunic didn’t drop each night (they did) but due to the loot order we had established I didn’t get them till the end of the week. I had a full set minus chest and crown in about 6 hours. So drop rate is not rare for other pieces. I do suggest that if you intend to solo you should have reached 53 and have kei and PoTC with wisdom at close to max. Do becareful not to pull the corrupted elysian (who is immune to harmony of nature) when solo unless you are quite the uber drOOd. Just harmony of nature the surrounding mobs then pull with WD and run straight back to corner. Once you are in the corner start attempting to cast ensnare you should get 2 chances to get ensnare off before the Mob starts to whack on you. Once he is ensnared, life is good, just WD to death. If you are looking to group, any lvl around 51 is good enough. Don’t waste mana on Ro’s line of dots they are easily resisted by the mob and are just a waste of mana. If you are grouping, harmony of nature, pull with WD and have other druids hotkey assist button on you. When the mob comes into range chaincast ensnare. At that point just cook with WD and root. Do not nuke as it will break root. Just keep an eye on the mob as root will break often. Spells that dropped:
SOE,
foliage shield,
form of the howler,
plus others that I don’t remember.

The biggest benefit to this armor is the ability to sell all your gear after you get this stuff. That should free quite a bit of coin to go buy your PoTC quest gifts for your earring of solstice and nature. With this gear your resists and ac will make you the UBER druid.

These aren't that difficult if you are patient and conserve mana. Just soloed one at lvl 50, 192 wis, no KEI (it faded right after I snared and landed first drifting death). Get yourself some Elder Spiritist's Vambraces. If you are a follower of Tunare, be sure to get your Warden Symbol of Tunare (clicky root). Only spells I cast were drifting death (lots of times), ensnare (4 times), skin like nature (once). Rest was clicky root and drones. Granted, this took like 30 minutes, but eventually I was the one left standing (with a nice new bracer, woot!). Would I recommend doing it this way? No. Get KEI so you can nuke the heck out of the thing. It will be nice once I hit 52 and get a better dot...then again, hopefully I will have a full set of elysian armour by then )
Snare is rarely resisted, drones/drifting death never, starfire once in a while, root and immolate resisted quite often.

They hit hard true, but with kei and a few of these pieces i now hit just 201 though i prefer to duo these mobs but i can solo them. And only when they come too close i really get in trouble. But the druidskill should be not to get hit in the 1st place. A few stupid tips. snare pull them. root and land winged death. (forget all the other dots)Make sure distance between you and mob is enough to stand back up and cast root on rootbreak. Make a hotkey /stand /cast 8 (presumed you have root standard in 8.
on rootbreak press the hotkey and move. If succesfull sit/med if not reroot.
Keep the mob targeted, don't heal yourself unless you are really very badly hurt (meaning that agi is compromised). But basically don't heal yourself, cause it's to easy to forget you've targeted yourself. Saw a guildy doing it 3 times in a row with 3 deaths and you can save the mana don't forget skin like nature has already regen.

When the mob gets down and your mana is still ok like 60% at 30% health of mob use your other conjuration dots. (don't let mana drop below 20) When you get consecutive rootbreaks directly after cast you really need that bit of mana.

When you are duoing with another dru you can spill a bit more mana on dots. Still keep in mind that despite it's easier cause one can cast root while it's following the other you shouldn't exhaust your mana either.

Again make a hotkey for stand/root. Next make a hotkey with the following commands /target teammate /cast 1 (assuming your heal is in slot 1) /assist teammate
You can switch autoattack off by editing client.ini.

Now this macro is not that desperately needed but make an agreement that you heal eachother and not yourself. Your teammate is protected against your roots and vv anyway, but i prefer hitting a key rather than selecting a spell from spellbuttonbar.

For the rest read the experiences of others cause ttheir's contain a lot of practical info as well.

Druid 55 with 255 wis has no prob here. Did my full level 55 XPing here and it was a breeze. Only died when I pulled a corrupted here and there without looking. Surprise, you've just been summoned. hehe They take about 12 mins to down tho. But I was getting a full blue bub per hour, and some sweet armor on top.
Elysian hps revealed

First of all these can be charmed by a necro using thrall of bones... at least ones that are level 53 can. They will own anything that you bring to em (make sure they can be rooted/snared, no dark asassins).

Had a 55 druid (me), 55 and 56 necro, and a 44 cleric out there. Complete heal from the cleric will heal one of these guys 32-34 percent. Since
complete heal is now only 7500 hps this puts the Disturbed elysian remains at roughly 21000 hps max.
How to do it
# Oct 07 2002 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
Well I myself as a 55 druid have been soloing these for awsome aa exp, grab a kei and go nuts, I have also done it without KEI but it takes a while (255wis). the way to do it is try to pull blue or evens as root lasts longer on them. I use my lvl one root(extended effliction) and wd, usually takes almost a full snare(with extended effliction). There are pathing issues when pulling to the safe corner I found tyhe easiest way around this was just to pull them up the very edge of the zone wall and into the safe corner. Also when pullling I dont cast on them since they are the only mobs I have seen that see inv, I leave invis on and just walk close eneugh to aggro them then take off running to safe corner. also what I do is bind in safe corner and mem egress instead of gate, and on a bothed pull simply egress then gate back, no sweat. I hope this post is helpful to all that want to try getting some exp and have a chance at some drops(bonus)

when back now at lvl 61, these guys are a joke now even the higher lvl ones are easy to root with engulfing roots and it sticks quite a while, and they still give phat aa exp's, plus there is always soemone there to give the armour drops to since i have a full suit now. "* tells you, wtf is a bothed pull" - Botched pull )

Hey there, 54 druid here...I've been hunting these guys for a few days now. Your best bet, as mentioned below, is to team up with 3-5 other druids and stack Winged Death and Drifting Death on them. With 4 druids, you can drop a level 55 one inn about 3 minutes, with no injury. If everyone has KEI, so much the better. You;ll be pretty much FM all the time.

My group was doing really well tonight until we got aggro from a Dark Assassain. If this happens, do not wait. Gate. They can summon you from across the zone, and they will. Get out. Get out. Luckily, there are usually 3 level 58-60 clerics fighting at zone. /wave Mivio!

Most of the other mobs in this zone are death to an all druid party. Good luck on your full suit of Elysian Armor, fellow druids!

can be seloed by a 56 druid

Or perhaps it is soloed. Anyway, they can be soloed by a 56 druid, so a 58 druid with help should do fine.
