There is an NPC in Katta that will give you a quest to get her some fertilizer. One component you need is owlbear dung.

The Owlbear Guardian Talon is one of three items needed to complete the Vah Shir quest for their Garrison Cloak. It will be neede shortly after they complete the Sonic Wolfbane Weapon for their class.

To reset the war some1 needs to take out the Grimmling (sp) Prince at the Outpost out from the kitty-city. Beware, these guys I have heard are a major Undercon. I watched a 40th Lv Ranger investigate & soon run to the zone to save his life.

Owlbear Feathers are used to make owlbear darts. Part of the fletching quest(later on) given in Shar Vahl City. I believe the person's name is Rytan that gives it, but may be wrong

Feathers are also used towards the end of the master tailor quest in Shar Vahl. Go to the quest part of Allakhazam's, in the Shar Vahl zone. Not too hard to find ;)

If you have a full stack you are set. They are going for as much as 300pp each on Morell Thule. The Rallic Pack's prices are dropping however. The pack was going for 2700 but is now going for 1200. The price is dropping like this on most servers. I would try to sell them when you get a chance. The price should stay above 100pp easy. The Rallic Pack is a 10 GIANT slot backpack with 85% weight reduction. Not bad huh?

Get a Rallic pack first, then try to sell. It is possible to fail on the Rallic pack. It is a tailored item and reports say it is trivial around 15. Better to sell after you make the pack in case you fail.

I was a master tailor before SoL so I don't know trivial. But this is around what others have said.

Perfect pelts are used in a quest reqireing tailoring to make a Rallic Pack. This is a 10 slot, 85% weight reduction pack that holds giant items. Trivial is very low on making these (<=17) and the quest starts in Katta castellum by talking to Rallic. Also, as far a failures, as I understand it, you will not fail in the making of this item no matter what your skill in tailoring is.. It is possible that I am wrong and the failure rate is just very low, however.

Level Range
# Jan 09 2002 at 1:30 PM Rating: Decent
I can definately confirm that the level range is incorrect as listed currently. I've taken my 23rd Ranger there, and tracked the Fleshrenders at (very rarely) blue to (usually) red. They are casters, but do not summon as I've seen elsewhere (Skre-cha and chu may though).

Apparently not social. Fighting yellows, I could get snare or fear to take about 50% of the time, but the fears are iffy, they don't last long. One thing, if you're fear kiting them, get them clear of the trees. Pathing is awful and the trees are so large, they can climb to the top of one and then start doing a "switchback", not coming off the tree. That cost me fear time, and possibly a death.

I have seen these /con even to my Cat Bard at lvl 24. Most are still yellow to red. Also, they drop Owlbear Feathers (Shar Vahl Bard quest) and damaged, normal and perfect Owlbear Pelts.

Hunted these things for a couples hours. Fighting one standing right next ti another and they never aggro'd.

Good solo for upper 30s.

Just to add I'm a lvl 37 (used to be 38, thanks to 7 grimlings-all with SoW) Shaman.

They aggroed me when I pulled one way outside the cave. I pulled a light blue fleshrender with Tagar's and it aggroed a dark blue Fleshrender at the cave entrance. I rooted light blue and ran a good distance away from the cave. I slowed the dark blue, Dotted it, and poked the snot out of it with my spear, while Scooby was nipping away at it.
Needless to say he hit quite hard occasionally, I got for 80+ a few times as well as it casted its screech spell. (Can't really tell what it does because I resisted it every time).
It was a tough fight though, ended the fight at 40% hp's and 30% mana.

Screech is a spell. hits for 65DD plus it says it immobilizes you but I never noticed the effect. I usually just take it on the chin and keep going, 65 damage isn't that bad against these guys, their claws do more. There is an earring that can give you immunity to the spell. I have one but never use it because I have an owlbear claw earring and a polished bone hoop, both more useful.

It's called the Earring of the Owlbear and is a quest reward for the Vah Shir progressive Cloaks Quest. It is given shortly after the weapon is finished.
