They see through the superior camouflage of a level 67 ranger.

soloed 3

I soloed the three near the THO cave with my 71 mage with 170 AA with my level 71 air pet. It was tuff but mainly just chained healed my pet and let them get beat to death on his damage shield. Used Replenish companion the one time it was up. Did not have host of elements or Servant of Ro up at the time. Pet got as low at 20% health.

A trio of us tried these today, (myself) 70 Cleric, 67 Rogue, and 55 Monk. We pulled the first guy and yes, he was tied to the other two around his spawn point as other posts say.

They were each dark blue to me, averaging 200 hits with a max of 450 or so. They hit fast (we had no slow) and resisted 10-20% of my Magic-based nukes, but did not resist Magic debuffs (Mark of Retribution).

Like other social mobs they run when there are no other friends around, so the first two went down in camp and the last tried to take off. They summon and with multiples on each pull it's pretty rough.

Keep track of the respawn timer when doing these, as repops are under 15 minutes (it seemed).
raid size
# Feb 07 2006 at 9:38 AM Rating: Decent
Since the guy for the Mage epic 1.5 is all the way in the back of the tunnels, can anyone recommend how much of a raid force we will need to plow through the 30 or so elder's on the way?

Was camping the elders a few days ago in the hallway approaching THO. Three of us killed about a dozen or so before one actually ran on us. The two casters I was with had de-memmed root because of the "immune to run speed" message. Needless to say, we had a messy CR ensue. We did not get to test if that individual Elder was immune to run changes, but apparently, some can run. Just a heads up.
They summon ...
# Nov 07 2004 at 2:00 AM Rating: Decent
Saw a post a ways down that asked if they summon but it was not answered. The Elders do in fact summon.

Duo'ing the tunnel past the bridge looking for the VT shard, I followed a group that has run past us up into the tunnel. They had just pulled 3 of these guys. I was invis and they were still scowling and I saw a few "so and so was summoned" messages so I backed off quickly down the tunnel out of sight since their tank had just ate it. There were some corpses of other fallen horrors so I was checking them for a shard when suddenly I was summoned and summarily pounded to necro mush. No time to FD with hits ranging from 300 - 500. I have no idea how I was summoned, maybe it was proximity aggro but I should have been out of that range. Never did any damage to them so not sure how I got on aggro list in the first place.

Just a bit more info. Since they don't seem to be your average low 60ish mob.
RE: They summon ...
# Feb 07 2006 at 9:33 AM Rating: Decent
They appear to have a large aggro range compounded by a pretty good memory, killing the lesser thought horrors in the tunnels seems to make them more angry... I got off a Mage FD on them as well ;-)
still tough at 70

Tried to solo these for vp quest piece with my L70 bard. May have chose the wrong camp tho. 3 there. No lull (not even new lull), no mez, no snare, dont have the new charm. Used combination of highsun (gate mob) and fade to split it down to one but by then I was hurting (40% hp). Started in and noticed he was getting in some 500+ hits. Too bad by then I had used up too many fades. Will have to find another spot I guess.
Slowable...
# Oct 22 2004 at 12:08 PM Rating: Decent
These are officially fully slowable now...

Chanter slow, Shaman slow, Bst slow all land fully, not even partials. This is a confirmed change, since 2 months ago when I came here they were immune to changes in attack speed (and handed us out tushies with easy)

They remain unmezzble, un-snareable, un-pacable.

Trying necro pet pull (if u don't already know, don't ask) yeilded multiples. So I think they have linked agro and you will always get multiples.

Max hit on gimp_bot_cleric_01 was only about 300 thou... she could offtank 2 once slowed.

Cannot be slowed or pacified
# Aug 09 2004 at 2:53 AM Rating: Decent
65enc got message that the elders attack rate cannot be modified (no slowing) or pacified.
Darkcala IS WRONG
# May 12 2004 at 6:34 PM Rating: Default
In response to Darkcala, your statement is incorrect you also need the rifts to get into VT, and only way to get rifts is by killing the mobs that spawn after the death of Emp Ssra... So unless you kill emp ssra your not likely to get into VT. just dont want people to see VT loot and think its soooo easy to get in. and if your guild cant take out the emp of ssra then stay far away from VT.
Leave em be
# Feb 04 2004 at 2:04 PM Rating: Decent
Damn, these suck. Chanter, Pally, Shaman and Necro went after these after sap and shard farming. No Pacy, No Mezz, no charm, no slow, no root. They adds and hit hard (600's.) Leave these along if you are just looking for some fun.

Cannot be mezzed
# Feb 03 2004 at 11:21 PM Rating: Decent
These mobs cannot be mezzed by a 65 bard and got message I could not charm but could have been due to the level since can only charm to 57. Did not see if they are immune to all charm. I am pretty sure they can be slowed since never got any messages off any thought horror types that said Cannot be slowed.
Slow?

Hit for max of 650 today (the hit that killed me, heh). Small expedition party of 10 peeps was happily smushing our way through The Deep (very cool zone, chasm reminded me of 'Alien' =), when we came across ONE of these guys plus a guard. 1 Cleric, 2 shammies, 1 druid, no tanks.

summon?
# May 21 2002 at 12:16 PM Rating: Default
Does this guy summon? non of the other mobs under 55 summon, but was curious about the higher ones, if not then they would be do-able with just 1 grp...
RE: summon?
# Jun 28 2002 at 1:18 AM Rating: Default
Tailfang, level 3-5, summons.
Sonic Wolf, Owlbear, and Grimling Defenders in HS summon and all of those are 30ish.

Luclin broke some of the old rules.
