Went to EC last night to get the Remove Curse spell. TGS was up but dropped only the gloves and spore. Went back this afternoon. Up again. Dropped gloves, spore and spell. So 1 for 2 for me. Hope this helps.
k this guy really bugs. My 46 pal went in, took out the boglings, and after medding attacked. Didn't bother to cast haste as my temp was fading (ended halfway thru fight), and with 81/84 pr/mr he still landed 20+ procs of 130ish thru the fight. After using LoH and a failed attempt to use a DS pot midway, I died, oom, with him at 20%.
Then he got me a second time after I tried chain-stunning him per the posts here. Had all self-buffs up this time, plus the DS, and the chaining worked except that my timing got off and I didn't heal myself in time. Died -again- with Saph around 20%. With right timing, and the DS up (or LoH prob woulda worked too), he coulda fallen. Think I'll wait for LOH to repop and save the potion cost. Other info: 45 (after deaths) pal with Argent Defender 1988/814 133str GL on this guy... for melee once you attack, you're committed
way underconned as well. buff up for this guy kids. And do yourself a favor and take out the greenies around him as well if you're under lvl 50. He interrupts your casting as well so give yourself some time to get out if it goes wrong. I've noticed that if you don't panic and cast right after he knocks you back you'll usually get a succesfull cast.
Ok finished. heres how it went. The first cultist went down in seconds due to my poison dot and hasted pet. took me all the way down to 99 health. the others took a bit longer cos i didnt feel like dotting them, just sent pet while i medded for the big fungus. With the great sarophyte itself i was taking no chances. Started it with a slow.. didnt resist. Resistes disease and poison dot twice each, and poison nuke twice as well. i switched to frost nukes, memming them in between being summoned and nuked for 110 to 150ish. All my frost nukes landed at full damage. Went down fast after that. had to heal pet a few times during the finding out that it was completely poison and disease resistant. dropped gloves and spores.
You may find me on morrell thule server, as Viziter
OK good thing i read up on this guy, Im gonna heed your warning and make and buff my pet b4 i kill him. Im a 53 shaman with kei and V. My pet will only have standard 53 shammy buffs. The cultist near him cons green, and he (IT?) cons LB. I dont think i will have much of a problem with it, but we shall see. Just stoppin thru on my way to do turn in for earring of solstice and thought id kill it.. needlite queen wasnt up. but mebbe on the way back Whatever the outcome, i will post again when one of us is dead. Somehow i believe that making a pet is overkill.
i was first time in little echo so i saw this huge thing and thougt well well u gotta die now. took him with a 56 monk in 10 seconds out the 2 adds nearly just dieds by riposte when i looted. had the spell and the gloves gave it to a friend.
Back when i was a 51 cleric, me and a 52 wizzy took him out in about 2 seconds. As a cleric...all i did was stand there and keep Wizzy healed while he kited the shroom...I buffed the wizzy before hand...but with his massive nukes, I believe the shroom went down in 2 nukes...this was about a year ago...I looted the spell...thank you Mr. Wizzy...he has still yet to loot the spell after killing shroom time and time again. So..if you really need the spell...hook up with a Wizzy...very easy kill for them.
worked the toadstool twice , no remove curse.Everyone is correct , repop every 3 hours or so. I'm a 51 pally , brought a 51 cleric , took next to no damage , even with the greenies mobbing us. Lots of toons in and out of room so if ya want to camp here and not be on f or a loong time you have to time the repop 's pretty well(meaning logging offf then back on).Good luck be safe .
Soloed him successfully today as a 46 Beastlord (blue con). Was expecting a fairly easy fight, having KEI and a bunch of self buffs.
Cleared out the 4 cultists and proceeded to attack the shroom. I got it to about 50% when it started casting (or proccing, couldn't tell) like crazy for a 150 poison dd + knockback. Finally killed it after it took me & warder down to 40%.
Lt blue to a lvl 51 pally. Just use your stun line of spells and he will go down pretty easy. Position yourself near the far wall so if he does get a knockback off you wont go flying far. Kept clearing the cultists which have a very slow respawn time. Cultists seem to respawn every 60 mins or so.
I just took him out twice last night but was slightly unprepaired the first time. Thus I'll give you all better info than I had. I'm a 54 cleric, well equipped and he killed me first attempt only because his 4 helpers joined in. With 5 on 1, my casting kept getting interrupted. It was a slow death because they were all green to me, but I had a hard time casting with so many on me. When I tried to run to zone, the shroom kept summoning me back to him. So here's better info for you. Obviously, I wanted revenge. So this time, I pacified the boglings and took out the shroom. Then I finished off the boglings so the room was cleared. After successfully killing him on second attempt. I checked the clocked. He spawned again 2 hours 45 minutes later, not 3 hours later. I expected him in 3 hours, but he spawned 15 minutes early. His 4 Bogling Cultist helpers in the room with him are on a 1 hour spawn time each. After the room was cleared from first kill, I kept the helpers cleared while waiting for the second spawn, so the second kill the shroom was by himself and an easy kill. I would advise using pacify to prevent adds or use an AOE spell to clear the room, or kill all the boglings first and the shroom will be cake. FYI, the Bogling Cultists have about 1300 HP's and the Great Saprophyte has 2600 HP's. Thus, I could cast Reckoning twice to take out the cultists, or 4 times to take out the shroom. I hope this helps you all. Spell didn't drop for me either time, so I'll be back again until I get the spell. My Ldon groups will be glad I did. Safe Journeys.
Well I finally got the remove curse spell after watching others try it and not get it. I tried a while ago with help from a level 52 Druid but only got the gloves - tried solo after I reached one yellow bubble into the level and got the gloves again. I had cleaned out the outer room then pulled out the cultists to save mana but for the last one I used cancel magic to stop the burn spells. I stood in the entrance when the Great Saprophyte spawned - used cancel magic on it the charged to get to the back wall - he knocked me back a couple of times and summoned, but no big deal I just stepped back or up and had him in about a minute. 2 hours and 52 minutes later I was ready for the next pop but moved to the back wall after a bog agroed me from behind and paid the price for that sneak attack. This time I decided to cast reckless strength on myself then cancel magic on the shroom -- of course he was whacking me by the time my Cancel Magic was in progress but I finished it then proceeded to take him down stunning with stun and holy might. I had Ethereal Cleasing memed but I think I only used it in the first kill. I also used the Flame of Light once or twice. Just before the shroom arrived I used a null potion to boost my dex to 142. I had Valor of Marr for haste plus the FBSS and was using a great 2H piercer the Two Tined Corpse Pitchfork - it did the job. My AC was 824 and HP buffed about 2300 and I ended with 33% mana and 88% HP left. Not very difficult but boy waiting for it to pop is a chore - but timed it for the second pop and arrived about 1/2 hour early to clean out the cultists in the room which are still light blue to me. When done I had the spell and gloves again. Medded a bit then took out a couple of bogs on the way out.
By the way hanging around echo so long also paid off as I got three Shissar Organs off the Taskmaster on the other side so I think I can get an EB item soon.
Killed him twice last night and no spell. Just two pairs of the gloves and the eye.
Was kinda tough the first time, I ES dotted him, then Winged Death, then the summons started. I couldn't get another spell off, so zoned and healed. Came back in and Scoriaed him to death.
Second time went smoother, but I didn't bother to clear the room first...that made it a little interesting (c;
I soloed this guy with my lvl 54 druid today. I buffed myself with all buffs i found useful, skins, DS, regen and all resist shields, then invissed me and waited at the south wall inside the main cave where he spawns.
When he popped, i started with a lvl 44 Nullify Magic, then tried a root which he resisted. He summoned me twice, casted Thunder Strike at me which i resisted, and a poison spell which took me down to 81 % in addition to some hits. Then i just continued to Scoriage him until he was down.
He had the spores, the spell Remove Curse, and a saphrophyte eye. First pop - lucky for once :)

That way works too obviously.. but rooting him is a waste of time (as I'm sure you learned hehe). Dispelling him is pretty useless too. Start with full buffs, then open the fight with winged death, breath of ro, and drifting death.. one or two scoria's will sinch the fight. If you have already taken out the cultists, then you shouldn't even need a heal, if not, root them, then attack gs. Once he summons you, don't try to move.. just work on casting. I've soloed him about a dozen times or more this way and rarely drop below 50% hp's.
Took him down a few minutes ago with a 55 shaman. He is easy. Just sic the pet on him and cast a couple of cold based DD. Didn't drop the spell though. It is more useful now because of the traps in the new LDoN dungeons. Oh well. Guess I have to wait another 3 hours.
Took him down today because i was looking for my spell. And he sure dropped it in 1st kill. Also dropped the gloves and spores.. maybe i was just lucky... not sure, but this spell will come in handy in ssra for sure...
Easy solo for a 53+ druid with their epic, or possibly ES Vambraces. Root rot the boglings in the area around the shroom, then invis up, move to the wall in the south side of his chamber, and buff yourself with everything you've got (resists, HP, regen, DS, in order of priority). Open the fight with Winged Death, get summoned, cast your epic/vambraces dot on him while he wastes all his mana trying to dot/nuke/debuff you, then sit back and watch him die a slow, painful death. Good luck with getting him to drop the scroll.
I was buying some spells for my level 47 necro and thought i would go kill al l the named just for fun, sure enough this guy was up, I sicked pet and tried to snare him, he is immune to changes in run speed, so I tried to fear him, he is immune to fear, so I just kept lifetapping him since it was the only spell I had memmed that would work.
pet was at 10% life when he fell, he hit me with poison blast or something but that's all the damage I took. he didn't summon me or anything.
dropped the spell and the earring
was about to give the spell away when I read on this website that the spell sells for over 1k
hope all looking for this spell have the same luck I did
This Shroom owes me. 5 kills, 15 hours, and no spell. No wonder it goes for 4k in bazaar.
Spawn time over 5 kills has averaged 2 hours and 50 mins, give or take 5 mins. He has never skipped.
He is at loc pos 1145 and pos 447, on the Huge Green lilly pad in the room just off to the right before the Fungus Grove zone line.
It is soloable by a 53 paladin. I cleared the room while camping it and then med back up. Load Flame of Light, Desist, Stun, Holy Might, and Force.
KEEP CHAIN STUNNING HIM. That is all there is to it. He will go down inside a minute, with you standing over his dead rotting corpse. Make sure you keep the room cleared about 20 minutes prior to the fight so you dont have to deal with greenies adding and possibly interrupting your stuns.
I used entirely self buffs and had no KEI. I am not super twinked. I use a Black Acrylia Halberd and my AC is 970. My self-buffed HP was 2825.
Loh never used. Never went below 93% health. Used about half mana. Who cares if he summons, I want to kill him.
Its a really fun fight in my opinion, and I even get a little xp off of him even though, so its not a total waste of time, barely.
I am here to get 3 spells. One for me and two for guildies, so this is going to be a long, long, wait. /doh

Even in the Void of Darkness, Light shall rule and overcome.
Was PLing my warrior, took him out pretty easy, buffed up the warrior, was lvl 27 at the time, and sent him in to taunt and take the blows. Nuked him 3x and dead, unfortunately, only had the darn earring
I play a level 65 enchanter, 111 AA's atm, this mob made me run away, I got overcomfident and my pet died. So I had to gate.
It doesn't hit hard, and the nukes it casts are weak, but its knockback AE spell is killer, once its oom it chain casts its AE spell over and over until you are OOR and then summons you, this is done fast enough so casters can't nuke, I have spell haste 4 and I couldn't get almost any spells off.
The second time I was just more careful to keep my pet alive =P
I don't know if the AE is resistable but I would say that it isn't because neither my pet or I ever resisted it. It dropped the spell on the first kill so its probably a common drop or some ppl just have bad luck...
Rooting your self will not stop you from being summoned. it stops you from moving your self not someone else pushing u or summoning you. so if you were to root your self he would summon u and you would not be able to move away

Has anyone tried using Root or Instill on themselves prior to taking on the sroom? I managed to accidentally root myself in everfrost one day by not watching who I was targetting.
What would happen if you root yourself within casting distance then nuke and dot away (assuming you have that ability)? Would it's summon work then? Perhaps worth a try...
Camped him for about 9 hours today. Spawn rate seems to be right around 3 hours. (clocked it at exactly 2 hours 52 minutes the final time) Killed it easily three times, no LoH needed. First two times it dropped the Saprophyte Spore Gloves and the third it finally dropped Remove Curse spell. All three times it dropped the Spores.
The four Boglings in that room respawn in about 1 hour 9 minutes, so keeping the room clear is not very difficult. If you get bored and don't want to leave the camp unattended, there's an area just outside the hallway that's deep enough to fish. The very first merchant in Fungus Grove sells fishing supplies, so more bait/poles are just a short way away.
I killed him the other day with hardly any trouble at all. I'm a 49 Paladin, hardly twinked at all. I just cast calm on the 4 cultist, charged the shroom, make sure to get on the far side of him to make his knockback pretty much useless and pound away casting stuns to interrupt his casting abilities. He is immune to the stun effects but he can still be interrupted. I made sure that I kept casting Ethereal cleansing on myself whenever it wore off (lvl 44 pally spell from ykesha expansion). In the end, roughly about 1 min. fight, I had exactly 50% health and didn't use LoH. Cultists never aggroed, I don't know how long Calm lasts for. Dropped gloves and spores, no spell, will have to try again sometime.
This mob can be duo'd by a 40 Shaman and 40 Warrior, shaman never even got summon'd. just make sure you bring along something to cancel magic, his damage shield sucks with fast weapons, and he cast's steelskin line of spells, really sucks when ur beating on him for 2 min and he's not takin any damage. good luck.
Loc is pos 1145, pos 447 in Echo Caverns. From Shadowhaven take zone entrance near the Soulbinder and follow route toward Fungus Grove. There's a right turn shortly before the FG zoneline that leads to the spawn point for the Great Saprophyte.
Data point: Easy solo for 54 Paladin. Did not need to cast spells or lay hands. Just melee. Wore high resist gear and even with lower AC, it landed very little melee damage. The mob did manage to land some poison spells.
At 42 me and my 42 shammy bro decided to go for it... we cleared the front room but forgot about the cultist. I tried to pull the shroom out w/ stun but he stayed put, next thing i know i'm summoned as well as the shammy. We hit him up a bitbut when i got knocked back i got cultist agro. We died.
Next day we came back... Pull 1 cultist w/ a high agro nuke or bow... they all came out so we slowed um and took them out 1 at a time. After healnig up the shammy debuffed the big shroom from afar. HE WONT MOVE he's stuck in place. When the shammy got summoned i ran in and messed it up. He died easily.
I soloed this guy today with my 49 Pally, to be honest, i was a little afraid to go solo, having read the posts, but to my surprise i had no problem at all, he summoned and knocked back twice, 2 minutes later he's dead and my LoH intact, got my 49 Remove Curse spell, like i said, quite easy
Lanys Server Nearrwin Dayspring Flame Keepers Paladin 49
We killed this guys last night. We did not know what to expect as this would be our first try. The wait was longer and more painful than the fight. I (palladin 42) chain stunned it while the rest (44 nec, 41 druid, 30 war, 29 rang and a 19 rang)took it down. I got knocked back once but no one even took a hit. Anti climatic.
Dropped him today solo (lvl 49 paladin) and recieved my Remove Curse spell. Chain stunned him into submission after single pulling each of his cultists and offing them separately. Make sure to debuff him and the cultists as they have a fire-based damage shield. He died while I still had 2 bubbles of health and LoH still not used. 75pct mana left also. Stunning meant I never got knocked back once.

Haggard Apollyon Lord Protector and Avatar of Karana Saviour of the Paladin Class What a guy!
Lots of info here already, but I may as well add my 2cp. I'm a 53 shaman on Karana and I have soloed this guy 4 times so far. His respawn has been a constant 2.5 to 3 hours. I invis and run to his room ( which is the right turn before you get to Fungus Grove) summon my faithful dog and hit him with spirit quickening/ regrowth, then begin clearing the room. Hit the boglings once each with Envenemoned Bolt and let the dog go to town. Very easy to clear them. Med up and wait. I find it best to keep yourself buffed with the standard shammy spells, as well as resist magic, poison and disease. When Great Saprophyte pops, I hit him with Turgur's and send the dog..then just blast away with our cold based nuke Blizzard Blast. He seems unable to resist cold spells, and after about 4/5 blasts ( at 460 dmg each)he is dead as disco. Easy to kill, the toughest part is lasting the camp..but as the spell is currently 5K on my server I'll keep at it. Good luck.
I was wondering if you could help me out by letting me know exactly which line of spells is in the curse catagory. I have tryed to cast this on different effects, but I have not found one that is removed by this spell. I have also not found any information that indicates which line of spells would be classified as curses. Any information you have on this would be appreciated.
Having found an actual use for the Remove Curse spell, I made my first solo attempt on this oversized piece of Athlete's Foot last night.
We both died (The shroom and I) thanks to an ebolt I managed to land before she summoned me into the middle of all her little followers. Unfortunately, the spell didn't drop. But, I now have some gloves that I can use on raids.
I had forgotten about the Cultists that are in there with her, and a cursory glance of the area around her didn't reveal them. If I'm going to be successful on my next attempt, I'll have to find a way to deal with them first.
The things to know:
1. She summons, which may not sound like a big deal, but there are 4 or 5 green Cultists in there who hit decently for their con. They stun like mad, so there's no spell casting once you are in the thick of it.
2. She has a shaman-esque spell line up. You need protection from pretty much everything. Disease, cold, magic, and possibly fire and poison.
3. There is no way to pull her out of there, she is stationary. Don't waste time with roots, snares, etc...
4. She is very resistant, had I been on top of my game I would have malo'd her. As I am a 51 shaman, nearly everything was resisted. Fortunately, the Ebolt wasn't. ;)
5. Unless you are of such a class or level that will make her an easy kill (like Paladin from what I'm reading) you need to kill her hard and fast. I recommend doing it from a distance.
6. Clear out the boglings in the first room before you try her. She has a relatively small aggro radius, so you won't have to worry about aggroing her when you are clearing out the room before her.
7. She conned light blue to me at level 51.
Hopefully this is of some use. I posted this for those who would find a challenge in this mob. I realize that, for some, she's cake.
Three of my guild mates and I took this down last night. Got the spell, gloves and spore. 41 druid, 40 shammy, a mid-30s tank and 52 warrior did it without too much trouble. Would be a close fight for group of 35's though lol
--EDIT-- Did this again last night with my 36 warrior and group consisting of 31 pally, 31 shammy and a 35 warrior. Slowly cleared bogglings then went in charging. very close fight. Pally hit me as MA with LOH and even then we were all around 20% health when done. We did forget one cultist in the room which was a minor annoyance to our shammy though. Great fight in the 30's. Have fun.
My level 55 Enchanter pet can solo it. I just open with slow, sit down, and let the pet wack it. I cast beserker spirit on the pet for the rune but it probably doesn't even need it.
OK I see alot of people talking about how they can, or can't solo this guy. Some things to note. He summons, casts a nasty knockback and a 300point poison DD. He is also immune to changes in run speed (not that he ever moves anyway) and fear. For you melee's that want him, set up between him and the wall, he can't knock you back there. I know, it's where I put my pet.
Now as for the firepower you'll need. I'd like to think that any melee over 50 could drop him. He doesn't have that many hp. My monk pet can solo him, most of the time without a shadowbond (750HoT). My pet is at best a 48-49 monk, and can drop him solo in 15-20 seconds tops. And at lvl 57 I can easily pull the Boglings from around him first (there are 4).
/bazaar spell paladin find cheapest price i see is 4k...wtf!? im not paying that. /guild where does remove curse drop? /soandso tells the guild "in echo caverns off a named shroom. tough fight, he knocksback and summons. go right tunnel before you get to fungus grove.
2 mins later.
"Hail, the great saphropyte!" after many many resists to some shroom spell he was casting on me and taking about 115 hps off me, You have looted spell remove curse.
you have saved yourself a bit of plat.
pfft! 2 mins to get to him and 3 mins of playing around with him got me a spell that would have cost me 4k to buy.
You got lucky...a guildmate and I have been camping this guy off and on for a few days. He's been killed about 5 times during that time and hasn't dropped the spell once.
