This mob is no longer attackable, which is probably what they should have done in the first place.

Nexus Scion Killing FAQ

Summons : yes
Max hit : 1354 on level 76 ritual summoning focused air pet, assuming 1.5k unmitigated
Approx HP : 200,000
Loot : As you would expect, none. I did happen to get a coin drop.
Other Stuff : I couldn't land any nukes on it, but it hardly mattered. They're definitely perma-rooted. I am unsure as to if they are "immune to all melee attacks" since pets SHOULD always be able to hit something regardless of what bane damage they're supposed to be taking. I wasn't able to kill it before the spires casted by a small margin of 30-ish seconds. Fight lasted approx 6.75 minutes. I was curious as to if it would still port to luclin being that the luclin port is listed as what this mob casts. I highly suspect this is not the case since the spires cast a spell instead of the Scion themself.

All in all...I was bored and wanted a little payback for the random times I'd made them angry.

A while back, boxing my SK and cleric... the melee hits are pretty weak. Max hit is fairly hard, but so rare that it's not much of a problem. Took a long time to kill just wearing down with unresistable procs and cleric pets, since they're immune to melee and normal spells. They don't drop anything though.

I was shooting the Scion today and just died. I was reading up here on all the people who tried. Had him down to 72% after 15 mins or so. but like I said, I was reading here, next thing i noticed, the screen looked different. I had died. Drakkel dire wolf and frost giant scout attacked me, knocked me into melee range of scion who hit me dead. Loading...please wait. This was about 2 minutes ago.
Impossible to kill

At this time the Nexus Scion is unkillable. The one in GFay hits for over 2k easily and is IMMUNE TO ALL ATTACKS (malee for sure I belive magic too) so a whole bunch of rangers with trueshot or a mage casting chain pets would not work. She is currently unkillable

Killed the GD scion a couple times the other day. Took an hour and a half for a bard and mage, 40 minutes when we added a ranger. Respawns in 6 minutes. 2% AA exp per kill (which is horrible) and dropped nothing.

Also, tox forest and gfay scions are invulnerable (though my pet's DS hurt them a little). I'd estimate scion hp at 500k to 1 million.

on march 6th 2004 between 5:00 am and 7:00 am myself and a RL friend embarked on a misson to see if the scion was indeed killable.

well the combo we used was my lvl 45 warr with a bow that procs stun and the nice little aggro ability and a 65 mage to chain cast pets and, as the ability refreshed, swarm pets.

well with this method of my warr plunkin arrows and hitting provoke i kept aggro long enough for the mage pet to do aabout 10% dmg on a good round and 1% on a bad 1 ... all in all it took about 3 hours to kill her.

this was on the prexus server.

on a side note the Scion doesn't cast, move, summon,or regen so you can take your time

Nexus Scion Damage
# May 26 2003 at 11:51 AM Rating: Decent
I wish the Nexus Scions out there were like the ones in Nexus, you can't attack them, they can't attack you. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. Some people may wonder how much a Nexus Scion can do in damage. I didn't go out there to experment, knowing it was pointless, but in the end accidentally did so. So I'm in Gffay, level 35 at the time, my AC is about 400 FYI. I take the little crystal from the scion and still have her targeted. Seeing the little corpses all around her I laugh and say to myself, "why would someone do that?" Of course I get bored waiting and send a tell to my friend. Silly me, I forget to hit enter before typing, and hit the "a" key. Now standing next to the scion I whip at her with my little dagger I use for INT stats.

You try the pierce Nexus Scion, but miss!
Nexus Scion hits you for 256 points of damage.

At which point I instinctually fly back, grazing the touch of death. So there you have it, I didn't get hit for so much, although I may have lucked out and got a weak hit, because my guild was telling me how lucky I was. Everyone around the scion was laughing, I kept my distance from the angry spire guard. Just a bit of true info for you people, I wasn't gunna wait and see if the second hit was 2000 damage or not.

I saw a level 60 warrior, fully raid buffed, die almost instantly. I watched him waltz up to the Scion, stand there a bit, and then get crushed immediately four times in a row for about 1800hp damage each shot.

It was like watching an ogre FD'ing.

Another thing I wanted to mention, for those twisted individuals out there who want a cheap laugh, that you can really ruin someone's day by messing with the Scions. I did this by accident (and felt horrible when it happened - although it was a bit funny) one day while pl'ing a twink. While waiting for the Nexus port-up, my baby wizzy unloaded all his mana into the Scion from a safe distance. Suddenly, a batch of people got ported down from nexus and started to mill about. I spotted an enchanter who had just ported down and asked him for KeI. He casted KeI on me and imediately got slaughtered by the Scion!

It was like,
"You feel your mind expand beyond space and time...
Nexus Scion hits Enchanter_01 for 1765 points of damage.
Nexus Scion hits Enchanter_01 for 1542 points of damage.
Nexus Scion bashes Enchanter_Corpse_01 for 395 points of damage.
An Enchanter_Corpse_01 is stunned.
Nexus Scion has slain Enchanter_01".

He was kinda pissed off at first. I logged a cleric for a rez and rebuff, and apologized for 10 minutes straight. He then laughed at the whole thing.

to update the other thing she dropped was a stone thign im not sure of name i just no it was a stone. and she probably had more then 20k.... i just assume that... they said that she had a very very lot so most lvl 65ish mobs have that or more
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 27 2003 at 3:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) on Druzzil ro a guild killed her. the Gfay one. my friend is in the guild and he said that she droppped 2k and robe of secrets and one other thing i dont remember. so if she droppped robe of secrets that means that her loot is pretty much random. also since mana burn is un resistable get a couple wizzies in group to use it on her/him. they said she definiteley had alot of hp like 20k. no1 in the guild got contacted by a GM from my knowledge so its not bad or anything.

Let me tell you about an idea i had one day. I was running through Grater faydark and i had accedently attacked a nexus at the wizzy spires. Needless to say that i was killed Instantly. I was extreamly mad because i lost my exp. Through my hatered i studied the creature and i devised the most extravagant scheme ever. I was wondering if my fellow Citizens of norrath would aid me. Darkies and Lighties come together in a mass horde to take one down. "What's in it for me" a person might ask. Well i think that not only the feeling you get from uniting with all of the inhabitants of norrath to squash a common evil but a great possibilty of an uber pay off and Extream exp or maybe nothing just a cold hard defeat.I am not really sure if they drop anything or if they even give exp. They are most likely the least killed Npc in the game. I have heard of one or two being killed but to my knowlage no loot has ever been identified. There are only a couple of reasons why i have not been able to find the loot items either 1. The uber guild who took one down came up with an awsome item that they dont want to get nerfed because of 1000000 crying lowbies saying its too powerfull so they did not add it to new item lists 2. None of them have ever been killed 3. Normal Loot for lvl of mob 4. No loot :( Now i am not really sure yet of the master plan but i am thinking along the lines of a massive head on attack group attack at random with no aperant stratagey.A person could even make a mule char and lvl to 5 or 6 toe just for this battle.Toe to Toe with the Unchecked Evil of the world. Or i have got a more methodical aproach. Either way i could be just stupid or really tired but that is my idea and i am willing to set up shop on any server. e-mail me at massive_nexus_strike@YHAOO.COM if you have any ideas, you want to join (( lvl is of no importance 1-65 doesnt matter Class either warriors clerics shaman monks i am in need of warm bodies :) )) or you just want to flame about how stupid i am either way i will welcome your emails and i will try my very best to email you back .No matter what it says. More information on nexus is always welcome. E-mail me and give it a chance.

Happy hunting and good luck.

Ok so they are rooted to the spot, and very high MR, what is thier status on melee damage, cause if they can be hit, why not just surround them with a few dozen 55+ rangers, have them pop thier trueshot discs and fire away?

.. thats why I bound "auto attack" key to F12, a key I wouldn't press by mistake.

But that didn't prevent me from casting a stupid AE fear near a Nexus Scion, who quickly made me know he didn't like this ;) (S)he hit me for 1800 or so; insta-death as I was unbuffed...

I have seen one killed, and many people try to kill them (or accidentally attack them). They are NOT meant to be killed. The people who killed it were immediatly confronted by a GM, but not banned.

How did they do it? Tried using a tank and the tank died quick. Then proceeded to nuke it to death. It DOES NOT SUMMON. This was put in because anyone who happens to accidentally hit the attack button and hit one (and survive to back away) can still use the portal. The Nexus Scions are perma rooted so that you cant disrupt the port by accidentally attacking one and running.

"Targettable but unhittable" mobs didn't really appear until around the PoP/LoY era. Before that, only entire zones were marked whole as nonaggroable (ie, Nexus).

Plenty of mobs existed long before then that weren't shouldn't have been killable, such as the River Source in Warrens. Verant zone designers did what they could (at the time), which was buff the mobs beyond player ability (at the time) to kill, and just leave it at that.

It wasn't until PoP that we started seeing individual mobs that could be targetted but not attacked. This represented an entirely new mechanism that wasn't available in previous eras.
