Dunno what has possessed me, but I decided I wanted a full set of Crystal Chitin for my Druid. So, Velks here I am. Been here for a while now.. killed s sh*tload of Blizzard and Crystalline Hunters and so far not one piece of CC from them. Killed a Frenzied Velium Broodling quite a few times as well and nothing but the Silver Chitin Hand Wraps so far..
I did kill the Brood Mother and Brood Master and got 2 pairs of CC Legs tho.. so the stuff apparently still drops. Dunno how much longer I will do this tho.. getting pretty boring...

Prior to the LDoN expansion, you'd frequently see nameds with all lower case letters in their names, and even see trash mobs with uppercase initials. Kael is a great example of that with pretty much every giant in the zone beginning with a capital.

Hey, can a 58-60 Sk solo this guy?
Remember an Iksar at 60 Bst soloin him like nothing, but never saw a Sk.
I been away for a year and just hit 57, thinking of tryin to take this guy down sometime soon though, any help?

To answer your question, I would say you can definately solo him.
BUT he will come with 2 adds at level 55 if I remember right, so you will have to fight/root 3 dark blue mobs.

I am a 62 mage on the quellious server - i soloed this guy w/o even helping my pet... burn 5 and a ds did him in b4 my pet droped down to 60% life... uber...

Duo'd this with a 55 Rogue and myself (61 Ranger). Slowed him with swarmcaller, rogue cracked off her Deadeye disc, and we finished with me at about 40% health. Dropped SCHW and a crystalline silk. Spawned next to the column you see facing SE from loc +458, +116, +36. Spawned on the third cycle. Hope that helps, good luck.

I'd post it but I came here looking for the info. Maybe if I clear the whole zone I can get him to spawn once and then I'll post it too, unlike the people who only talk about haste percentages while they secret away their information about the spider.

Okay--here's a little bit of info anyway. When you come into the zone, you can invis and run most of the way to this guy's spawn. Take the ramp on the left of the zone-in. Keep going up until you get to a slippery ramp. The top of that ramp is location 458, 116, 36 (all positive). I couldn't get the mob's exact location because he sees invis. However, you can see him from the top of this ramp and he didn't aggro on a 53 druid (blue to me). There is one mob at the top of the ramp (at least right now) and the Frenzied Velium Broodling spawns on the side of the square shaft facing you. Though a high level druid in the zone just told me he's a random spawn on that top floor, so just keep clearing the area to get him at z-location 36.
This mob does NOT drop the Venomous Axe of the Velium Brood. That drop is exclusive to the Frenzied Velium Stalker, which spawns above this mob.

just to let everyone know on the lvl to take this down-i am a 56 mage and i can usually cast transons elemental renewal every time my pet goes down to 80% until the FVB is down to 40% then i chain cast scars of sigil,i usually end up right about at 0 mana from full
A couple weeks ago my 52 shaman zoned in, buffed up and then got this guy dumped on me near the zone line. It was at exactly 50 per cent health. Not sure what it had had cast on it earlier (by previous person fighting it), but the remaining 50 per cent health disappeared with little more effort than most other spiders near the entrance.
And it dropped the schw ...

Been noticing the last few weeks that when i camp this spot, if the named spawns, generally within 3 spawn cycles if not the very next after dropping him, will spawn again. This has happened to me the last 5 or so times i have camped Frenzy. anyone else noticing the same?

I am a level 58 epic magician. I can solo/break any camp/mob from the zone up to (but not including) the village.
Use that to decide what people you need for your group.

for those of you that dont care about the loot, this spider spawns at the "frenzy" camp. it is one level lower than "top shelf" (aka "TS") right near the ramp up to TS. you can take him down with a small force of 50+s (tank, healer, slower) though for some, it may take more. i'd say a good number of 55+ classes could solo this camp, depending on gear. he hits hard and has higher resists than other spiders and much more ac/hp. dont ask me numbers, but imo i'd say at least triple that of a regular blizzard spider, and double that of a hunter. be wary of adds and keep him ON the shelf. if you arent sure if you can keep him on the shelf, i suggest you hit him into the wall or pull him to bottom of the TS ramp. chances are that if he falls off, you will get between one and five adds (which, btw, might be helpful if you have a chanter and want xp, hehe). other than these helpful hints, just enjoy your loot :)

Ok all i dont wanna b rude but i wanna get these and i need to know how hard it is to take this guy down... i alrdy know where he spawns (thanx Rmog) but i just need to know what the minimum is for taking down these guys relatively safely will i need a full group of 50+ or can i do it with a few 50+ and how much does he resist does n e 1 know the HPs these guys have ETC ETC ETC if no one posts n e info like this ill go ahead n camp em with guildies n e way and ill post the info meself but pls ppl n e info u know would help me thanx in advance

Im not sure on SCHW, but i KNOW they are faster than FBSS, 23-25% haste would be about right, they ARE NOT 30% haste, thats for sure. Ive clocked em' many times myself, its varied a few times on SCHW, prolly cuz of the patch, Never even knew it changed, just noticed i was hitting slower. Anyway, as of today i dont know the exact %haste on SCHW, but thats because i have a RBG. Good day, hope this clears things up, or just starts more arguments :P

I hope this helps all of yall out there but my uncle works for Verant Interactive and he is responsible for creating ideas on new items for the new expansions that are being released. I recently asked him what the haste is on all of these items becuase so many people were getting into arguments about it and...

Items with haste always show the little wand and glowing red around it (spell symbol Haste) This means 5% at level 1 up to 50% at level 60. If the effect is the same as the spell, arguments are pointless. Finally the post from Oftgood shows someone shares my haste theory. Now you can all whine about me posting in the wrong place.

Posted: Jan 23 2002 at 8:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) PPL listen i have the Hand Wraps they are 31 haste and if you look at the level mobs that each haste item drops off of you will see level of haste goes up depending on the level of the mob that drops it...new concept for you I know..it is called risk reward. Fbss is a low level haste item because it drops of a low mob. As opposed to like a CoF and its brothers and sisters which drop off DRAGONS. Now seeing that the mob the Hand Wraps drop off is level 50 they will be considerably better then the Fbss hence the 31 haste. Now give that many dragons of level 52 are highter leve then a 50 broodling you can exspect the hand wraps to give slightly less haste and not nearly the stats...they are dragons after all. Oh btw haste items are are some what level based as well... a level one charactor with a fbss will only get 1percent haste...check it out. Give you level one warrior a fbss and hunge delay weapon you will see no difference in the speed he swings. And All haste items work on this formula they y(y is the power of the haste item 1-10) X 5 plus 1 = total haste of the item.

A fungi isnt gonna drop off a orc pawn , or a CoF isnt gonna drop from a derv, so your staement about haste going up with higher mobs, that is kinda a given, thanks for stating the obvious. Oh and they are 30 % not 22

I camp US (Upper Spiders) as much as I can because of the great exp and there is some bad information in these posts.
The brood does NOT drop CCG Venomous Axe and Ring of Frost Spiders that is the Frenzy Stalker.
This guy does drop the SCW which is 15 ac 7 dex 7 str 40 hp bracer (drool!)
Hand wraps are just a tad bit better then FBSS and Noose but is not a RBG RBB or CoF or better item.
This guy spawns in Upper spiders along with 2 other rares, Crystal fang and Frenzy Velium Stalker.
Hope some of this helps someone out there.

umm i don't know why everyone says these are 31% haste, they drop alot and are only worth 7-8k on fennin. fbss,18-24%, are 6k and cof,36%, is over 100k so i really doubt that for they are 31% and so cheap . i had them and i couldn't tell the difference between these and a fbss

Ahhh. someone had to go an mention haste. Dont you know it is not a word to mention on any board on this site? geesh! Then someone will come and argue with you!. CoF is 40% haste. Silver chitin handwraps and Fbss have the same haste percentage, 21. Silver chitin gives stats and ac, while fbss gives only haste. Btw handwraps sell for about 7k on morell thule and fbss for about 5, though i got mine for 4k hehe thanks ogre guy forgot your name.

Ok, lets straighten this out a bit. Haste on these is 22%. FBSS is 21%. CoF is 36%. RBG is 27%. RBB is 31%. Hope this helps in your haste decision.
