Sunshard DustI was using a 34 druid to quad Dire Wolves to the south/east of the druid portal. After about 2 hours of this I noticed A Dire Wolf Stalker up on track.
He was further south/west of where I was and found him easily along the coastline wandering.
He is quite fast and i was afraid I would have trouble getting ensnare to stick as he was yellow to me. I memmed snare as well and kept hitting him with that till it stuck. He is almost as fast as SoW but not quite. After I got snare to stick then I overwrote it with Ensnare since I could outrun him easier now. I kept dotting him with Drones of Doom over and over as it wore off and would meditate in between since I didnt have the mana needed to blast him to death.
I did use Careless Lightning somewhat for full effect almost everytime. I couldnt get fear to stick on him though.
He dropped the map piece and I believe he drops it everytime.

Anyone know where this mob spawn?

This wolf spwaned twice while my fiance' and I were leap frog Quad Kiting. Were were killing 4 to 6 dire wolves every FM load and he spawned twice in about 8 hours. Both times he spawned straight out from the portal ring about 300 yards out, not too far from the beach and round icebergs there. I read that you have to kill the wolves near ToFS for him to spawn, we didnt kill any on the ToFS island but its certainly possible someone else was.
He is a way undercon. Lots more hp than the other wolves, and hits a little bit harder. Drops map every time it seems.

Killed him tonight to get the first of a series of map pieces for eyepatch of plunder quest. conned even to my 35 druid and was a pretty tough solo bit me for a max of around 80 with a good # of hps. He spawns near the bridge to ew. Was better off using terrorize animal than the dots he kept resisting just pull him near water to avoid adds.

EVERY class in Everquest has it own role. some are better tankers, some are better casters and some are a little of both. If someone is using snare and panic animal, and it works for him, then I say woot go get 'm boy. As a 35 druid, I still use my lev 1 snare when in a group just because it uses less mana.

Posted: Mar 21 2002 at 9:34 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) in group, when u have a ranger u don't need druids ... they are just here as backup healer when the group can't have a cleric ... rangers can make all the required spell like sow or snare usefull for the group and moreover they are damage dealer or even puller. You don't have to compare rangers and druid, and if u really want to do it, becarefull because you will see that rangers are awesome !!!!

Ranger dont have our powerfull DoT, our powerfull BLAST, our powerfull Heal and ranger cant save a group like a druid can do in some uggly situtation.... SO PLS, dont say we are just Back healer.. That make me smile... and if u dont agree with that come duel me... Ill show u the real power of a druid )

Kick up Dex and prim a Fine Steel Hilted Dagger and you now have a Ranger with BLAST too :P
Proc'd on a forest giant in BW, StormHammer three times for 625dd each. Not bad for a soloing Ranger...
Don't get me wrong I'm not comparing any class. My friend runs a Druid in StormHammer and the two of us together kick some bootie.

Old thread but I gotta tell ya something. If your druid is within 5 levs of my ranger, I will beat you in a duel every time. EVERY time. I'll even tell you how, and there's nothing you can do about it. I will enter duel UNBUFFED and chain cast cancel magic on you. Then proceed to beat the snot out of you. You are gonna have a hard time getting a cast off while getting pounded with 2 19 dly weaps at 40% haste and a boot repeatedly placed in your behind. And if you DO land a dot I will cancel magic myself, which is why I start out unbuffed.How do I know this? Because my RL best friend is a druid 3 levs above me. We've dueled over and over, he knows what I'm doing, and I win EVERY time. I will force you to melee, which is something you just can't do. So think before you open your mouth. I'm not even gonna get into bow damage. Oh, and I do have a 65 druid.

Ever seen the DPS of a ranger with AM3, Trueshot and a Primal bow? Crit hits for 800 that the ranger said "sucked"...
Rangers = ranged non-casting DPS at higher levels.
And yea, high-leveled example maybe. But at any level, they still have good DPS. Between their spells and their melee and range power, they definitely are a good class.
But like someone else said, all classes have strengths and weaknesses.
Except wizards... we've been nerfed since beta *cries* (that was a joke for all those eager-to-flame people out there)

Yeah.....My friend is a RANGER, and he tanks for our guild on HoT raids. Matter of fact, he tanks giants in PoV and PoS too. Wonder why hes the tank? Thats because hes got better ac/hp than most of the so-called 'tanks' he encounters.....but then again "rangers dont have the hps a tank has so what real use do they have??" Scary thing is....hes not the only one...at 53 ive got another ranger pal who has been tanking in velks for 2 levels, because all the tanks he runs into in there cant tank as well as he does. You are offensive and ignorant, LEARN how to play a class, then, just maybe, people will listen to you *thought out* criticisms about its strengths and weaknesses.

The DWStalker has twice as many hitpoints as a regular dire wolf. I've mixed it into quad kites twice now, and both times the stalker had almost exactly half its hitpoints left when the other wolves died. I don't get bitten that often, being a druid and all, but from what I can tell, he doesn't bite too much harder than the others. They all bite in the 70 range.

I am a 44 SK and it coned blue to me. I don't think it is lvl 30-32.
It hits much harder than the normal dire wolf. Maybe Verant updated all the mobs status? I had to FD when other roamning mobs started jumping into the fight.

This guy has about 3x the hp of a normal Dire Wolf in Iceclad Ocean. Hits just as hard nothing special otherwise. I had to Panic Animal it like 8-9 times and snare it twice to fear kite it (im a 42 ranger). He Dropped a 'First part of an Iceclad Map', No Drop. Not sure what its for yet.

The map you found is part one of four pieces to The Lost Map. The reward for completing this quest is really nice, Eyepatch of Plunder.
