The Swarm Mother appeared alongside numerous A Swarmling while the Karanas were plagued. The Swarm Mother, along with her horde, disappeared when the Karanas were cleansed in the fall of 2001.
Formerly of Western Karana.

I remember the swarms of the Karana's. I was amaized when I got a diamond. Back in 2001, diamonds could get you uber weapons lol.

she was cleansed away along with her stupid little children....i've seen many people try the cleansing quest but aparently when i was on my two month brake (a while ago, over 4 months ago i think) someone did it...or someones.....anyway, the farmers that use to talk about the swarm no longer do so you can be assured they never come around :)

i spotted her in North K. at the gypsis, i killed her and a bunch of hatchlings or something came out, it was the best AE i ever seen, but i aggrod the gysis so had to run, she droped a Black Saphire, which i sold to a chanter for 250 pp. take care

Ok, first: does the swarm still spawn, or did it get cleansed with the rest of the Karanas?

My guild was in NK killing Grim, HGs and other spawns at about 1AM game time. Right after taking out Grim and a HG right after each other, the Swarm spawned so we were low on mana. A farmer had shouted out that the swarm was upon us, but we ignored it. Next thing we know, the entire zone is covered with small "swarmlings" which Verant gave small scarab skins. They were nothing but a nuisance, and green, since we were all 30-34. Then the Swarm Mother showed up and proceeded to pound us for about 70hps a shot and was blue to all of us.
We ended up just kiting her around until she died and dropped a Sapphire Necklace which sells to a vendor for about 200pp. Her babies, the swarmlings, do agro on anyone. They also agro infinitely. It was an awesome sight watching each one of us in the group running around with a line of about 20 or 30 of them in hot pursuit.
We tried to stick around and respawn the swarm, but we killed a lot of mobs and remained in NK for a couple more "days", but no luck.
Since the Karanas have recently been cleansed, I'm not sure whether this spawn will be effected.

Me and 2 friends were messing around in WK just killing about everything and all of a sudden the sarm mother spawned so we decided to kill it so the warrior in our group solo'd the mama and me and another shaman killed the babies we looted it and low and behold it was a blue diamond!!

I was running through WK on my way to NK looking for a TP when I saw a big group of swarmlings. My natural instincts kicked in and I charge into them. All the sudden I was taking actual damage. Being lvl 32, I knew it couldn't the swarmlings. The shaman I was grouped with told me to turn around and I saw this massive beetle. I tried to fight it, but it conned yellow to me and the swarmlings were stunning my shammy to bad for her to heal me. We had to retreat ;( I would really like to know what this thing drops though.
