I camped the ritualist for 6 cycles tonight on the Coirnav TLP server. The spawn time was between 42-52 minutes each time, considerably higher than I remember from the Phinigel server. Each time, he dropped a Grimy Lance along with 1-2 pieces of decayed armor for the Darkforge quests. One time, he dropped Rubicite Vambraces in addition to the lance and two decayed pieces.

    Progression Server Update

I just thought that I would update this mob since he spawns again on the timelocked progression servers. He spawns in the room with the miniature temple in the southeast corner of the maze and his respawn timer has been lowered drastically. I had him respawning every 25 minutes or so although I didn't take an exact time.
    He DOES exist!
    # Sep 03 2002 at 11:02 PM Rating: Decent
This mob DOES exist in Feerott...He is now a Tae Ew Spriritualist. He spawns in front of the obelisk where Radiant and a silvered Tae Ew Observer spawn. Radiant and the Observer are actually his placeholders. He is an exact clone of the old Ritualist, using harm touch and shadowknight spells, except he DOES NOT summon a pet. Crusaders can also spawn in the points around him, along with every other stand still spawn point on the island. Out of the three spawns, Spritualist seems to be the rarest, and Observer the most common. Good luck.

Spent some quality time in Cazik last night with a buddy and had this boy pop twice on us. When we first got there, he was already dead - NP - we knew that all we had to do was wait until we had an overpull and he'd be more than happy to show up - sure enough, we're sitting in his room and barely handling half a dozen warders and defenders when this guy shows up - took him down just barely.

We then kept working the area and got real cautious around the 1 hour marks - hour one, no show. Hour two - no show, then ten minutes late he pops - basically a spawn time of about 2 hours 10 minutes (of course right after my partner had gone to pull and I was by myself - he's a slight under con - I was 30th and well armed and armored and he was still a very tough fight even with HT - I don't think I would have won if buddy hadn't shown up to heal - mind you, I regularly kick yellow's butts NP, so this guy is exceptionally tough).

I've killed him three or four times to date, he's had the lance every time and he's dropped one to three peices every time as well - have had two repeats - left arm and right bracer.

As for the crusaders - they apparently spawn on the top of the pyramid but they don't drop the armor every time.

For those of you thinking that the lance quest is gonna be a cake walk, the ghost you need to deal with is on Heratic faction - that means you've gotta spend a full weekend slaughtering folks in the Warrens first.

Second note is that you've gotta kill a 35 level cat person - no Luclin hits for doing so, yet...

thx for the great info guys,
took this lizzie out last night with a friendly druid (he 32, me 25 sk), everthing went to plan, took out defenders first, sent in pet who got nailed by HT and then charged in guns a blazing. Was a VERY close fight, druid completey OOM and me left with less than 60 hp's, but we lived to tell a tale and have started at last my DF questing...:)
It can only get easier from here....

    one very happy SK

Well thought I'd throw my 2 cp in to this discussion. Most of what I've seen written here so far is unusually accurate concerning this guy, at least in my experience with him. Here is what I can confirm as of my camping him on 12/02 and 12/03 before everything came down for Luclin patches. He stands at top of little temple in south east dead end tunnel of maze south of wizzie portal as pictured above. He is, as near as I can tell, a Lvl 31 SK as his HT each time I fought him was for 311. I was not able to solo him as a 39 Ranger (although barely) due to a lack of preparation for the adds which are few, but effective... ) I stupidly just kinda charged in there figuring I'd drop him easy enough and trailed most of what was in the hall leading to him with me... Anyway, that aside he should be an easy kill for most mid to high 30's chars, just go in with invis then pull him to back right hand corner of the area there, which is what I did each time thereafter with unfailing success. Got even easier when a guildie healer came to join... ) The Ritualist dropped 1 or 2 pieces of decayed everytime, as well as the Grimy Lance everytime. Spawn time was at least 1 hour each time to as long as 3 hours, with the shorter times being when I killed all the lizards in the tunnels around his little temple. Whether that actually affected spawn time or it was purely coincidental I can't be certain of. Should be headin back there tonight to get the last few pieces I need to deck out my 28 SK in his DF armor. Anyway, hope this helps even if a lot of it has already been written here...

Just my 2cp on Luclin server,
I was consistently getting this lizzy every 2hr. Last night was the first time, after Luclin (which I don't have) to camp him. 1st kill and no pop, was 3 hrs before I headed out. 301 on the HT. Favorite spell seems to be engulfing darkness, he kept casting on me when I resisted. Can't seem to disarm the lance, must be my bad luck =)

Thought I'd add that not once did a PH pop in place of Ritualist and never have I seen a Crusader in all of CT, and I've spent some time there so I guess I'm just unlucky. If you need the decayed for your SK this guy is the only sure fire way to get it. Also, Grimy Lance as previously stated here is used for Soulfield Lance quest in Stonebrunt. Happy hunting... )

    Soloing the Ritualist

I have had good success soloing the Ritualist as 32 sk untwinked. It can be a tough fight, and sometimes you need to harm touch, but it is usually pretty safe. I usually clear the hall leading into the ritualist's tower from the little side passage just down the hall. One lizard typically hangs out in the passage. Kill it, then the other three lizards that patrol the hall leading to the ritualist. As long as you don't pull them from the ritualist's room, the ritualist will not aggro. Once the hall is clear med and heal up (it's good to be a troll...heh).

Once you're ready, cast a pet and send him in. The ritualist will harm touch the pet if you wait a bit. Once he uses harm touch, charge in and take him down. Make sure to debuff as possible, and fire off life draw as you are able. If your magic resistance is above 50, he won't land too much in the way of spells. The big caution is to feign death early if the going gets ugly. Any landed dots will take you out if you get too low.

This guy has been a decayed armor gold mine for me...hope your luck is just as good.

    Cheers

    Sentient is good for Dumbwits
    # Sep 14 2001 at 9:13 PM Rating: Default
Sentient is Great armor if you are a big dumb race. if you are not a member of the big dumb races, then darkforge will be better.
Reasons why darkforge is better for Smaller races:
    1Weighs less.
    2Gives better stats.
3Even though it is hard to get it, it is harder to get sentient for an untwinked SK.
Trust me I had both armors and ended selling the sentient pieces for cash.
Note. Some pieces of sentient have a little bit more ac, thus and exception

Hey i have been in CT for sometimre trying to get decayed to twink my Sk alt with darkforge. Darkforge IS NOT the best SK armor, it is equal to the paladin Ro armor (I have this on my pally at the moment) an Sentient is better for SK's, but anyway back to the Rit. yes he spawns on the tower thingie in the maze, has no place holders. I have snoticed his spawn time vary between 1 hour up to 3 hours. he can be lvl 29, i conned him once at lvl 30 and he was blue. up to 32 by what i have seen so far conned him white once at 32. thats makes his HT eather 291, 301, 311, 321 respectivily by lvl. his pet is easy to whip out with 1-3 expell undead shots. he does 1.5 bubs to me with his HT (my max hp with out symbol is 1045, symbol would give me and extra 60hp not sure how much his HT would do then). I have seen him drop decaying every time but once. same with grimy lance (first time i killed him he only drop money, or my party member snuk in and loot during the fight). yes there are two spots you can fight him with out getting adds, eather back conner in that room. most effectivly pulled from those spots by one of the following. 1) target his pet shoot arrow, kill pet then consintrate on him (pet first so you can dodge his attacks easier) or 2) for pally only target the pet and cast expell undead (94dd everytime). finish of the gay pet, then focus attention on the Rit. to pally's and SK's i suggest having eather LoH rdy or HT rdy for this fight cause eather one can and will save you. (I started solo camping him at 32) to other classes i would not suggest even trying to solo this mob till at least lvl 35.
the secret is out ... damn

Well for all who wonder yes the ritualist carries Decay stuff (damn damn damn ) he is a pretty fixed spawn at 1-2 hours max. there is no place holder (I know this because I have camped him with no one else in the zone and he still pops.
and he is not a new addition he's been here for a long long time, just never been posted here or most places...

have fun AND DON'T FARM HIM !!

It seems you can effect the speed at which ritualist spawns - If i kill Golem (clay) Ritualist will spawn as long as you leave the Radiant up. This is not 100percent full proof but it worked for me 3 times in a row limiting spawn time to 45 minutes each spawn
    Ritualist spawn time
    # Jul 31 2001 at 6:25 AM Rating: Default
The ritualist spawns every 2 hours. This is my experience of camping him for a couple days. If your gonna kill him, you need someone who can Invis, a tank and a rogue, all around lvl 32+ . Just get invised, rip down to his room, wait for lizards in hallway to run away for a bit and attack at will. Myself and a tank (both lvl 33) killed him while our Inviser just watched. Pretty easy, just avoid adds and it's a breeze. It's a long spawn rate so dont camp this guy. Go and XP somewhere within CT and just let people know your camping him. Once the time comes, run in there invis, kill him and run out. The whole process should take around 3 mins. I hope this helps =)
    Spawn Time
    # Jul 13 2001 at 2:56 PM Rating: Default
I've been hunting the Ritualist for a week and from what I've seen his spawn time is anywhere from one and half hours up to three and seems to be random. He always drops decayed and the Grimy Lance and sometimes FS. He is a level 32 SK at max but I'm not sure if he spawns lower. Being on his spawn point seems to make no difference in his spawn time. Hope this helps.
    More information please?

Maybe it's just me, but I stood in the spot where I thought he spawned for awhile today (don't remember how long exactly, around 2 hours), and I didn't see him. Does he have a despawn time if he does pop? Or does he stay up and I'm just in the wrong place?

    Thanks

I was in CT hunting this morning and used Sense Undead to see if a Crusader was up, the ritualist's pet came up as target, but I wasn't sure what he was. I logged for lunch and got on here and read this, then went back in to find him. As said above he was sitting on his little temple w/ his pet. After a short fight I looted two pieces of decayed, a FS short sword and the Grimy Lance off him. He didn't spawn the rest of the time we waited, but one of the other crusaders did... So I guess the spawn is longer than previously thought.

The Lizard Ritualist lives in the maze in a dead end near the wizard pyramid. As seen in the pic he sits on top of a little temple. He is a Shadow Knight and has both a pet and harm touch that hits for 311. To the best of my knowledge he was added in the previous patch. Ie the one before today's patch. His Grimy Lance has an effect that has either been removed or has yet to be implemented. He also does drop decaying armor which is used in the Dark Forge Shadow knight only armor quests. If you have any more questions about the armor or the quests go to www.allakhazam.com and look them up there.
