A level 55 mage and myself a level 60 mage thought we'd like to take THis ****... Though no one died cause of mah "uber" skills (chain casting pets while the level 55 camped out then me running for LOIO zone)...
This thing must have 100k+ hp cause we had about 5 different pets with 75% haste each barely dent this necro.

Let me just first say that my only char is a 23 cleric (now you KNOW it's gonna be ugly). I wasn't even paying attention to my computer that day, only watching out for drachnids, then I see "Vekis hits YOU for 50+ (can't remember how much) damage." I just stare at my screen and wonder WTF is going on until I die 10-15 seconds after Vekis started to attack me. So listen anyone with a relatively low lvl who goes to LOIO, watch out for the big uber 50-56 nekky that will beat you senseless unless you're a fellow nekky or a SK.
I had never seen Vekis before... until today. Standing near the statue on the waterfall, I read "Vekis begins to cast a spell." That was quickly followed by "You lose control of yourself."
Basically, I ran straight up towards the DL tunnel. Was feared for probably 30 seconds... a long time. I wasn't dotted or otherwise injured with the Fear wore off, so I just ran into the tunnel and zoned into DL.
I kept thinking, though, it was a good thing that I wasn't looking over the waterfall when that Fear hit. It could've been bad.

I wish I had been lucky enough to have been feared. Was running to town in FV to get 52 spells, and stop to look at statue for a bit, remembering thats how iksar used to look. Then I read "your blood begins to boil" or something or other, see what the spell is, and its ignite blood. I run to guards, start to BW, and end up dead, and back to 51. its sucked

Same thing happened to my 50 druid. I ran in agro range, which is wide, and I received the message "your blood begins to boil". I ran to the bridge by the guards. Cast Chloroplast on myself and healed as needed. It took 5 greater heals to stay alive. But I lived :)

You were hit by Trepidation, a high level Necro/Chanter/Cleric Fear, I was unfortunate to run within agro range of Vekis, but for some odd reason I resisted this spell, I immediately FD'd to try and save my meager level 24 butt from sure death. It worked. Bottom line for me, I will be more observant of this mob from now on, for I haved danced with the devil and survived to tell the tale.

Yes you can and all the guards and pilgrims aggro on her. Sometimes the shield bearers or the Lutenient will join thr fight. All a matter of the right place at the right time

I finally ran into Vekis for the first time about a week ago, and for some reason she conned AMIABLE to me! I hailed her, but got no response. I'm an agnostic human monk, I can't think of any reason for this necro to like me but here it is. Any ideas what faction she's on?

OK, like it or not, here is my problem.
I agree with all of you that this is one mean Necro. My pali has been wiped by her nasty DOT many times in my LOIO days. So I looked up the " Ignite Blood " spell she casts, and started researching Necro's. I since have created an Erudite Necromancer and have made it to lvl 53. What an amazing class! They truly are the most powerful class on all of Norath, IMO.
My question to all of you is: If you show this Necro so much respect as being a bad ***, then why not show a little appreciation for the Necro's that are on YOUR SIDE?? Everyone stays away from grouping with Necro's because no one will take the time to learn about them. We are by far the most misunderstood class in the game.
All classes have great abilities for grouping, including Necro's. I think if more people took the time to research the other players around them, there would be more well-balanced, and more effective groups out there. So many people think that a Warrior, Cleric, and Enchanter is all you will ever need to get exp. The only time you bother with another class is when you need a sow, a corpse recovered, summoned items, a TL or port, or to take down some huge named epic mob.
I myself have 3 accounts, 3 computers, and 7 char's. And I still have very much to learn about this game and it's players. So you can aggree with my post here or you can start the flaming. Either way no one can argue with the FACT that there ARE people who play this game that are prejudice against other classes due to lack of research and experience.
Sure, Necro's are built well for solo'ing. But we do not play an online game to solo( that is why they made Diablo). EQ is formatted around interaction with others in it's enviornment. That is why there are 5 boxes below you target screen, and there is a guild title behind your name.
Sony is aware of this problem as well. With the Luclin expansion, they took a lot of the kiting factors from zones, ie: no snare or root. They gave more group buffs then ever before to classes that had very few or none at all. They are making TONS of gear NO DROP, or they are putting "recomended level of.." on them, in order to keep from twinking and solo'ing a low level char.
I know I got off on a rant, and I am aware this is not the correct board for it. I don't usually get off-topic, but it was on my mind =)

Greeting's, just a little story, having jus got to lvl 36, i went back to FV bank from FM, all was well at this point until the trip back to the LOIO zone, where i was running my A## off to get to the zone trying to avoid the spider's when all of a sudden the word's VEKIS's PET, my reactions were heart-beat racing in order to get to the zone, With the spider's on my trail as well. I was rooted, poisioned,Boiled blood, and hit with more spell's than in ur average spell-book. LOH was used at the point were i had 40hp remaining,and panicking not to lose my lvl, were i was released from the root spell and made it to the zone. A moment of spare time was needed to get my heart beat back to normal lol.
CONCLUSION= Vekis is nasty and ur bound to get add's with the dracnid's so b carefull, i almost lost a lvl from doing the normal LOIO zone run:
ALL in ALL im still alive, nasty experience though.

Vekis is a 50+ Iksar Necromancer that's part of an armor quest for Iksar, the details of which I have yet to be able to find. She's on Ring of Scale faction as far as I can tell. When my bard hunted in LOIO, killing Iksar, I was KOS to her. At 31 I moved to OT and stayed there for about nine levels, killing Sarnak (which raises Ring of Scale faction). I'm now indifferent to Vekis and can run by her, hail her, hug her, what have you, without fear. My ranger has followed the same path. At one point I was KOS but after 5 levels in OT I may be indifferent or dubious to her.

Vekis is *NOT* on Ring of Scale Faction. Gorenaire *IS* on Ring of Scale faction. I am amiable to Gornaire. To this day, I am still KOS to Vekis and amiable to Gornaire(who is without a doubt on RoS).
You must have received some other faction, then RoS, to increase your faction with Vekis.

Even at 53 she hurts, but i atleast resist a few of her spells, and have enough hp to tahe to 1/2 life before running to loio or dl.

When i was running past this punk a$$ NPC she casted a one dot on me but lucky i am a warrior with alot of HPs... the pet didnt Sh*t to me at lvl26 =).but im one of the rarest peps to make it from tha dam nerco.=)

I was lucky enough to outrun her tonight. I was running from FV to LOIL, and saw her. I ran right by her, and BAM..Vekis punches you for 105, Vekis punches you for 160..then my blood started to boil...
I kept running and eventually made it to the LOIL zone with 1 bub of hp left.

once when i was running to LOIO I saw a guy following sir hobble and squire fuzzmin when all the sudden all three of'em die! once i saw that i got the hell outta there (so im assuming it was her) i don't know why but why does the wurmslayer ques have to be so hard?! and i don't know why they even make NPC's like her there just plain evil! good luck ever killing her for anyone that tries.

I was a lvl 17 bard and running with Selo's through FV to LOIO, when I saw Vekis below the waterfall. I figured he (well, I guess she; I wasn't really around long enough to notice) was a PC and thought nothing of her, when her pet hit me. To make a short story shorter, I was dead in 4 hits.
At least it wasn't long and drawn out....
I asked about her in FV and LOIO, but no one seemed to know anything about her.

Im was a 30 paladin and one day im running to Ill omen to get to FM, so i see the guy name vekis some im like Hey! a high lvl necro who is killin mobs, lets hail him! bad idea... only when i was like friggin next to him did i see the words "vekis pet" then i said O ****! well let me just say, this guy is bad ***** he doubles for 175 dmg (i have to clue how a necro can do this but he did, maybe it was the pet but i know i got doubled and kicked hard) and something kicked me for 65. no soon had i begun to run like mad when he nuked for 160 and doted with a nice 60/tick. i was at about half hp now. i ran to town like mad and still got range nuked (dirty sob has casst RANGE).
anyway i reach town and when i get down to 1/2 a bub i lay hands on self to get full health. i kept casting heal on myself to heal but i was down to 1/3 when the dot wore off. lucky me a 54 dru cast sup heal and camo on me so i ran right by him with no probs.
for some reason he doesnt chase and his pet will for only a limited range. any way i had 1080 hp at that lvl (low i know =( ) so any caster or tank who cant heal well (or at all) and is less than 30 is doomed to death.

I'm not saying Vekis is a pansie, but her range cant be too great. Running from LOIO to FV has been scary my whole musical career, but now as a 31 bard with walrus skin drums I am faster than any druids wet dream. Anyway, I was running to the soulbinder on the docks and didn't even notice Vekis had agro'd me until I bound, turn around, and ran off into town. Anyway, with 2 drixies and 3 guards beating on her she still decided to dot/nuke me, but this was from 10 yards, not 100.

One time I was in FV waiting for my friend to pick me up at the bridge. He was a 51 druid coming from DL. Then I got a tell from him saying to get the hell off the bridge, and the guards would probably die. Him being a 51 druid, i figured, what could scare him so much. So i asked him, and he said that big named Iksars could. I never got the name, but i think this is the guy he was referring to. I see this guy all the time on my way to LOIO. You would think that such a big tough dude such as himself would be able to see invis. Well, thats just my 2 cp anyway.
I was level 19 at the time and i had a friend take me to LOIO. i was scared and cast invis. he ran off scouting and then i suden;y see his health bar go down. I then see him running with her on his tail. he died from the DoT alone so she is nasty. Almost cost him lvl 20.

Been in Kuanrk a long time, was running back from OT to do some banking and such. I walk up to this iskar, WHOA, what a <BLEEP> I managed to GATE out, back to OT, only had 20 health left, I was 37 cleric.
