This halfling near the docks begs you for items and money. Giving something to him, or even just hailing him, causes him to become like an enchanter pet following you around and not being able to kill it.
You say, 'Hail, a greedy beggar'
A greedy beggar says, 'Hello there, _____. I don't suppose you can spare some coins? I'm just a poor halfling that is far away from home. I can't afford anything to eat or drink. Anything you can offer me will be of help.'
As with all charm spells, any invisibility spell cast on you will break the charm and make him attack you.

So you want to use the beggar for your pet eh? Magicians commonly use reclaim energy when the get a chump pet (low con). Try getting this boy killed and see if you get a higher con when he respawns.

i gave this guy some coin one night and he followed me aroud for about 3 hours helping me level, i went from 3 to level 9 in what should have been a longer time, but he took most of the hits and i did most of the damage it was great for a cleric to have a pet

lol i haiiled him on a new lvl 1 dwarf warrior and he started hanging with me, begging (obviously) so i thought hmmlets see if ya help me beat on snakes and oh cool exactly what a newb needs..something to take the punishment so your precious 24hp dont vanish in seconds..i just gave him snake fangs and spider legs and stuff when i was full and he was happy as heck..alas i got fed up with him so attack a red giant bat or something and ran off when the beggar attacked it..poor guy..

I was just a running from Kelethin to catch the boat in BB to FP, when i see this thing in the distance, i highlite it anf it says a greedy begger, well it conned green to me so i went over and hailed him. he said he wanted mony. i decided not to bother (i hate beggers) so i went to the docks, he folowed, i tryed everything and he wouldnt stop following me. So i wondered, "is he a pet now?" so i tryed my basic pet commands, nothing. then i wondered, i have a chanter, maby hs liek there pets. So i hit a spider once, and backed of, sure enough he started to attack it. Yelling "Guards, Guards, Help Me!". SO (and this is the truth) the guard i was near walked over, hit the begger with his axe, killed it and then walked away. Dont know if it was a glitch or what, but it was just funny to see. lol.

just outside was a greedy beggar, laying like he was dead. He conned blue to me 35 and he had an axe and a piercer in his hands.
I gave him 1 plat, nothing happened.

i accidentally killed this guy cuz i gave him a fish and he started following me around, i jus try to cast invisi and he yells out, "Guards!! help me im being attacked!" ...then he started hittin me and i jus killed him wit auto-attack....i don wanna have bad faction in revervale so if anyone can tell me how to get my faction up wit rivervale plz reply to this mssg or send me a tell on the Zebuxoruk server, my name ish Caldaan.
BTW-i hit him for 9-13 dmg ONLY once and he died...

im on lanys tvyl and beggar is lv 1, drops a torch (always) and you take a bad faction hit with all the basic halflings (the mayor the merchants etc.)

i think that the beggar by the docks has only ten HP,i killed himk at level one no damage taken, he just runs. I have never seen the otherr beggar but if someone leveled up using the other beggar that wanders i think the wanderer must be a little higher in level.

I had him following me around and tried to use one of my illusions. He attacked me, and I was forced to dispatch him. Just make sure to be careful using illsions if you want to keep him.

Hailed him yesterday and he started following me around and helping me fight goblins, scarabs, and even lowland basilisks! I gave him a rusty dagger and was quite happy to see him use it against my foes.
He gave me the best laugh I ever had in a solo evening.
He's quite determined also, as whenever the creature I was attacking turned away to flee, there he was, chasing the creature mercilessly.
Very good company for those solo nights!

I now a lot of people think you cant but you can kill the beggar without a spell, but only if he isnt following you, if he is then you cant kill him.

I killed that guy @ lvl 3 as a paladin dwarf!!! And it took me only a couple hits!!! Oh yeah and I didn't even have any good weapons or buffs!! So if you see him, just kill him. You probably can at lvl 1!

That is the only way I could figure out to get rid of the little bugger. Was embarassing, really. I didn't know better and gave him a copper to see if he wasn't worth something more. Got laughs from all the characters in the know. See if I help any more beggars!

When I was like lvl 5 or 6, he was in the green, and so I tried to kill him, but he ran for the guards, so I freaked out and used Gate, but I cast a lvl 4 Wiz spell (probably shock of fire) and his HP went down at least 25% theres no way his min lvl is 7

Just a note for people with pets. If you get the begger to follow you, you will no longer be able to control your own pet with normal pet commands.

With my mage at level 4, someone had asked me to kill this begger for them, so I did, I gave him one level 4 nuke and it was dead. No way he is higher then 1. Even level 1 monsters don't die from one level 4 nuke that does a max of 11 damage. Did get a Axe of the Frost though. Probably someone gave it to him.

i gave him 5 pp food water coper i had a pal for a good hr or so lol to i got him killed killing a lizerd por lil guy lol im lvl 10 mage i had 2 pets lol i couldnt kill it i tryed lol but then i didnt try before i gave him stuff his fun i think

I gave this fellow halfling a copper just to see what he'd do. So he starts to follow me (now conning amiable) and I give him 10 more copper. Anyway, after a while I intentionally loose him by running as fast as I can up a hill. I travel for five minutes, then go back to Kaladim to bank. There he is in front of the city waiting for me, and he now cons threatening and tries to attack.
