About the Drops
# Oct 15 2001 at 11:33 PM Rating: Default
About the Drops... Aerr doesn't drop *all* of these every time he dies, does he? You just have to kill him and hope he'll drop one or more? Or (highly unprobably) does he drop most-to-all of these every time he dies? I'm pretty sure it's the former, but just checking.
RE: About the Drops
# Oct 16 2001 at 3:05 AM Rating: Decent
Right, he doesn't drop everything at once. Just 2-4 items or so. Like most mobs that are worth killing. :)
SOL will it change anything?
# Oct 15 2001 at 10:39 PM Rating: Default
with the releas of sol there will be alot of new skills and other abilities given to the higher lvl players, like the ones planning on raiding this guy. but with all these new abilitys will the odds of winning against this guy go up? or will verant end up boostin this guys lvls damage or some other trait? just a thought, we'll find out in a month or two.

geeze guys, very impressed that he's even been killed enough to get this many different items listed. keep up the good work, one of the few mobs that are worth the large scale raid effort this requires.

As far as the person who said he could be slowed, /boggle. Can't slow lvl 75s bro, just wont happen. Hard enough to slow lvl 63s with tash and malo... lvl 75 would just own you if you tried. I think you meant that he slows you, not that he's 'slowable'

Theres a very simple strategy you can follow for any highend raid

1) give the warrior with the best gear an avatar to start the fight and refresh it every 6 minutes till yer mob is dead.

2) have 2 extra clerics specifically there to keep this guys hitpoints going up via celestial healing and short cast heals.

3) dedicated cleric doing nothing but casting complete heal every time he has the mana.

4) tons of wizards with dragonbane and good timing.

5) figure on an average of 1.5 clerics for each group... ie one cleric and one or two druid / sham. One cleric can heal the ae damage fine, but will run out of mana if the sham and druid aren't helping.

6) buffs are gonna drop anyway by the time yer goin good on this dude, so dont depend on them. Only buff you absolutely need to make sure is up is your main tank's avatar.

thats just some experience from trying some lvl 75 mobs with friends... never tried anything in north tov myself.

Since this dude does ae lifetap and slow I wouldn't reccommend even trying him without 50 lvl 60s as a minimum. You could probably squeeze off a victory with less if you really got yer timing and taunt down. Everything really is a piece of cake if you keep the mob on one guy, but crap happens... always does... always will. Guarantee you someone will drop a tiny bit too low on hitpoints and dragon will run around chewing people up while your main tank tries to re-establish agro. They didn't say much about the breath attack, but if its anything like the lava guardians its about every 5 seconds... ick 300dmg ae lifetap every 5 seconds? Could get real ugly. I think its perhaps his special attack, like monk mobs can use strikes every so often, and shadow knights harm touch.

I would think that by now the large guilds on each server are working together to nail this dude when he pops, but who knows? If you do tov a lot you might wanna form some guild alliances to kill this guy. makes kael armor look like newbie gear heh.

Why refresh avatar when your warriors got primals ?
Once defensive is down after 3 minutes, let warrior die, switch MT.

Seems like you don't have a lot of experience. Also keep using aegolism / focus / paly hp buff / stamina / haste ... :)

Hail, Friends!

I just looked at the items Vulak'Aerr drops and was stunned for some time.

I know these things are all no drop, but is there anyone who wears "full Vulak'Aerr" armor?

As I said, just dreaming, but if you are, send me a pic please ;)

i have heard of a warrior with many of these peices...one of the only warriors with 2000+AC
RE: Just dreaming...
# Oct 16 2001 at 8:04 PM Rating: Decent
Furor was amazed with having 1700ac, I highly doubt any warriors have 2000+ac.
RE: Just dreaming...
# Oct 18 2001 at 2:53 PM Rating: Default
With top NToV and HoT and ST gear a warrior can barely break 1700 unbuffed. Furor wasn't even their top tank when they did these mobs... so he probably didn't have the top gear either. Buffs add about 100 HP. So 2000 AC is but a dream.

ALot of people dont think much, like people are asking is he hard to kill ? look at him, hes huge and lvl 75, a main dragon in TOV and drops phat lewts, put 2 and 2 togther not to many guilds can go to tov let alone walk up to this guy and drop him, so in conclusion he hits hard, he has alot of hp , i dont get why people wanna know how hard he hits, it really doesn't make a differece either you clerics can heal you or they cant, and there not to many guild leaders planing raids bases on the info they get from posts on here, and if they are they arn't lasting 2 min with this guy,
Heck yeah

Well just wanted to give a shout out of congradz to some of my friends for wasting this dragon with only 47 people. They are one of the best, most stratigic guilds I know of, so good job to all of you who are in HOSS on the druzzil ro server. =)
RE: Heck yeah
# Oct 16 2001 at 9:44 PM Rating: Default
I'm on druzzil ro and hoss has some of best strategies to exploit in the history of everquest. Getting yelinak stuck in a wall so he can't attack, Giving velkator Shields so he only double hits instead of quadding.....Dunno if you call this good strategy or outright exploiting.
RE: Heck yeah
# Nov 01 2001 at 3:46 PM Rating: Default
So long as it works... no its not an exploit. An exploit in my eyes would be hacking into the system itself. Logically, if you give an NPC an item, they ussually equip it. Least the merchants will. Well if you got 2 bare fists to double attack with, there is your quad attack. Give the NPC a shield... he now only has one free hand. Not an exploit just a ingenious use of common logic. Verant messed up by making this possible. Everyone screws up, you cant blame anyone for using the tactic so long as the game allows you to. Next your going to say MQ items like jboots or quest armor is an exploit. Just doing what the game allows us to, and going on from that.
RE: Heck yeah

I am a member of hoss, and I find your obvious jealousy disgusting. I wasn't in Hoss when they were killing Velk (I still haven't been on a raid of him actually), but they fixed that bug, and Hoss is able to wipe him w/o much thought regardless.

With the whole Yelinak thing, I was also not there, but I know what happened. First, that was not a Hoss guild raid. It was about 5-7 people on two different occasions that used Yelinak's AEing to aggro some NPC's, due to strange screwy faction there. Very similar to a chanter charming a pet is it not? Once again, Verant fixed that issue and Hoss with a full raid easily dispatches him.

In regards to all Ntov mobs, I was there for, and I can personally assure you that not once was there an exploit in killing any of these mobs. First of all, using world geometry to avoid AE's is perfectly above board, VI has stated so itself, and I would love to see any guild clear ToV w/o using that, it's simply impossible on several mobs.

We killed Vyemm on our second attempt, with 43 people. As far as I know, we didn't even use spoiler site info, we figured out a suitable place to fight him, and a pull tactic, and voila, we killed him. That's strategy.

I find that most of the best guilds around are often accused of cheating in one way or another, and as is the case here, generally it's out of jealousy.

Go ahead and name or describe even one exploit we used in the clearing of ToV.

I had the pleasure of serving under GM Gharn Stonecrusher of Bertoxxulous until he got promoted...so I suspect your theory is mostly right, but more along the lines of named after Verant staff higher than GMs...whatever they are.

Ummm no. High lvl Dragons, monsters, Gods, and/or dungeon bosses don't give out a ton of exp. It all depends on the zone. Even though they are really hard, it doesn't mean a thing. This Dragon must give out OK exp, since he's in a dungeon type zone, and since he's lvl 75.

Anything that see's invis, can see a hide/sneaking rogue from the front. NOTHING can see a hide/sneaking rogue when their backs are turned to them.

Help me out
# Sep 07 2001 at 11:34 PM Rating: Default
Im curious, many people have stated differend amounts of life this guy has, does anyone know roughly the exact number? Also what kind of spells hurt this guy? And about how many skilled people would it take to defeat him and about how long?

Also im new to these areas, why cant 100 people just rush him over and over after killing his sidekick and getting the loot over and over...after all if he drops 10 items everyone could have an item after 10 rounds right? Or is that idea impossible because of fighting space and spawn times?
RE: Help me out
# Oct 07 2001 at 1:33 PM Rating: Decent
he probably has a spawn time close to the old world dragons, which is about a week. now unless these 100 lvl 60's had ALOT of free time and no lives at all, then its hardly a good plan=P

Lol! Nice strategy on rushing him. Unfortunately, simply rushing him without intense organization and experienced players would take far more than 100 lvl 60's. I have no specific information on how tough he is, but judging by the fact that he's listed as level 75, summons all of the other named dragons in the zone (up to 20 of them, all around lvl 60+), and he drops the best crap in the game to date (mrylokar's dagger of blood with ragebringer in primary...drool...), I'm guessing this **** is hard.

#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 05 2001 at 7:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well last night around 1 AM eastern time, I was wandering in ToV looking for a suitably low level quest for me, a level 1 ranger. I hailed this dragon, and after some brief conversation, he started talking about how I could [help] him with some errands. I agreed, being the questing ranger that I am. He gave me some junk container, a "box of nil space" or something like that, and instructed me to fill it with a bat wing, a gnoll fang, two orc pawn scalps, and a Crystasia's Crystal Ring. I found these items on low level mobs near the outside of the temple and in the adjacent western wastes zone. After turning these in, I got some experience and faction hits with "Opal Darkbriar", "Hall of the Ebon Mask", "Geonid Collective", and "Werewolf". Although I did not want to risk messing up my werewolf faction, I figured that it would be worth it. I was right, I recieved a "Shovel". I was really exicted, because I knew that the shovel was really rare loot of of high level farmers in West Karana, which is too high level of a zone for me. There is anothetr quest he mentions, anyone who can help me with that one please post here.
