This rare mob can be found at the chetari rat area near Zlandicar's lair in Dragon Necropolis.

  • This mob spawns at multiple locations; one is near Vilefang's pool, another one is close to Zlandicar's lair.
  • Flurries: Yes
  • Spawns around a minimum of 12 hours after zone up.

In theory it would be possible... but he doesn't spawn for at least 12 hours (??) after the zone spins up, and AoC instances expire in 6 hours... So, no, he cannot spawn in AoC instances.

After several weeks of camping during server-ups, Vaniki spawned 00:15:25 by Vilefang's pool after a patch.

I logged back in the next morning:

This world has been running for 00:19:55:05.

and Vaniki was up.

so vaniki spawned between 13 and 19 : 55 hours after server up

Alright, so my mission for this mob started on February 10, 2012 and was finished on March 7, 2012. Here's is my story and some facts about this mob for those looking for her.

Fact #1

Vaniki has 5 placeholders. These have already been listed and previously, however I will paste them in again for those interested.

P 698.3076, -583.0579, -199.9042, 0, 0, 0, 3, Vaniki_(guest_1) = This PH is in the middle area of the rat tunnels (rat city) with the 2 water pools. This PH is located directly to the left on the top ledge accessible by the ladder.
P 567.2540, -478.1564, -259.9041, 0, 0, 0, 3, Vaniki_(guest_2) = This PH is to the left water pool when you enter the middle area of the rat tunnels (rat city). NOTE: There are 2 (two) invisible PH's here which is why everyone says she has 5 spawn points.
P 1241.6764, 388.3428, -259.9041, 0, 0, 0, 3, Vaniki_(guest_3) = This PH is located right before you hit the water in the south tunnel of the rat area leading to Zlandicar(where Vilefang spawns).
P 612.0004, 506.0521, -249.0298, 0, 0, 0, 3, Vaniki_(guest_4) = This PH is located on the platform right before you reach Zlandicar. There are usually two Chetari Hoarders there.

Fact #2

You cannot speed up the spawn time of Vaniki.

Like others have said, she is on a fixed spawn time. She has a chance to spawn every 122 hours. Her PHers are invisible and you cannot kill them. Killing every rat will not reset the spawn timers to increase the chances of spawning her. Setting off every spell trap and beetle trap will not reset the spawn timers to increase the chances of spawning her. With all that said, the best time to start your timer rolling is to wait for a server restart/patch day. Once the servers come live and are online, there is an 8 and a half hour timer before Vaniki and her PHers spawn. So, if the servers come up at 12:00am, if you log in then you will not see her until you wait till 8:30am. If you wait till 8.5 hours and you still do not see her, start your stopwatch for 122 hours + 8.5 hrs and check again. If again you don't see her, check again 122 hours AFTER the previous 122 hours. (not after the second 8.5 hours). Trust me, doing this will make your life easier and stress free so you don't have to just stay logged in thinking you'll miss her spawn and someone will steal it from you.

Fact #3

Vaniki is on track.

I used a level 89 Ranger with 300 tracking parked in the rat city. I got Vaniki at 8.5 hours after server maintenance. Sorted the list by ralpha and she popped on the top of the list.

Fact #4

There is no anti-camp radius feature to prevent her from spawning if players are near by. She spawned right in front of my face when I got her.

Conclusion: The first 2 weeks I kept the ranger logged in almost 24/7 checking every 3-4 hours. (I can't check my computer from my phone while at work =) ) After that, I sent in a petition for a GM to reset the zone in case the spawn was bugged. A couple of days later a GM reset the zone for me. This was huge because now I had her timers and knew at which points she could be up at any given point so I didn't have to stay logged in 24/7. Unfortunately she still failed to spawn and had to wait till the servers went down, but finally got her once they came up that day.

Any more questions, feel free to send me a tell or in-game mail at Tunare.Recnarp. Good hunting.

Nice write up, however I think you got some things wrong.

I think the initial spawndelay is random, I have personally seen Vaniki spawn once between 00:17:15 and 00:17:40 after server up. Mob has been up when I entered the zone at these times after server up:

00:21:44
01:00:30
00:16:??
00:22:13
10:22:21
00:22:41, was not up at 00:17:20
01:03:??
01:02:36

If I understand the information posted by the developers correct you got the respawn time wrong.

1st possible spawn = spawndelay
2nd possible spawn = spawndelay + 2 x 122h
3rd possible spawn = spawndelay + 2 x 122h + 2 x 122h
etc...

If I got it right this is the spawn mechanism of the invisible men or possible Vaniki. This is set aside for a specific spawn point if Vaniki is killed.

Quote:
There are five spawns that can appear as Vaniki. The respawn time is 122 hours. Each spawn point has a 10% chance to spawn as Vaniki. Vaniki is unique, so there can only ever be one of them up at any given time. If the spawn is not Vaniki, it will appear as an unkillable invisible man placeholder. In either case, Vaniki or placeholder, the NPC will despawn 122 hours later.

This implementation makes the Vaniki NPC rare and essentially uncampable.

Quote:
When these 5 spawns initially trigger (not when the zone comes up - there is a delay before they will appear) there's a ~41% chance that Vaniki will be in the zone. 122 hours later, if there is no interference, all 5 will despawn, and 122 hours later they will respawn. Each spawn location operates independently of the others, making the behavior of the system more complex if Vaniki is killed since the slain spawn will no longer occur synchronously with the other 4.

killed vaniki today after 1 weeks of constant camping.
noticed some things, guest3 spot spawns a rat sometimes that can be killed to reset timer, guest1 spot had a beetle trap spawn on me there, so it not only enough to have track up, you can speed the timers up checking for "PHs", witch requires you running back and forth all the time :) or atleast once in a while, checking on the spawns.

this is incorrect. the invisible PH at spot #3 (just before Vilefang pool) is actually adjacent to the ratman that spawns there. if you're facing the pool and the 2 ratmen, the PH will be on the left, ratman #1 just to the right, and a ratman #2 further right.

you can test this by casting a front cone type AE such as ranger's hail of arrows. this type of spell will "hit" anything in the arc, even invisible placeholders. stand back 20 feet and aim a little to the left of the ratman, and watch the spell effects land on both the invisible Vaniki placeholder and the ratman standing next to it. this is a good way to confirm any invis placeholder's location. I was able to find the other locations using this method, just outside Zland lair on the ledge, and the two spots in rat city one by the pool and another up the ladder on the far left as you walk in.

Vaniki is a corpse camper. Pulled Vaniki out of the tunnels to where the spiders roam. Waited a few minutes and the regular mobs left. I had to afk about 10 mins and came back and I saw Vanikis friend was pathing away. Pulled Vaniki up on wall and killed with my 66 monk using a Jman cleric merc. Used discs and everything I had. The fight took about 3 minutes and had 2 spider adds. Healer merc was using a heal over time and had to do 2 CH's. I didn't see the merc drop below 85% mana. Vaniki had Willsapper graphic showing and was trying to proc it on me but never landed. I could imagine any class could merc this mob at 65 even if you have to let your cleric merc tank and pull him all the way to the zoneline if you needed a 1 on 1 to win the fight. The mob did not spawn by Zland cave. Vaniki was in a big room in the cave. From ent take a left and then another left. Camped monk and looted the Willsapper with my 60SK on the Mayong server (when I posted this, the mayong server was DEAD with players).

Jonnipanic is right! after 7 days camping this ****...I finally got him.

Again, there is nothing you can do to spawn this guy only wait his spawn cycle. Whoever said that by killing the named rats you get him to spawn is false. if you think steping on the traps is going to help you too you are wrong. This guy has his on spawn points and they are invis! you cant make him spawn faster....many people told me that during my time in the cave but that was absolutly wrong. He spawned for me in the Rat city up in the little cave looking down to the center of the 2 water drops from the ceiling. He was next to a named mob that spawns there warmster or something like that. They were BOTH up when I got him, the named Rat and Vaniki NEXT to him. I had a Druid tracking for me the whole 7 days and I only took 4 hours breacks the whole time...I wanted this guy as you can tell.

I think the best time to get him is after a patch....although you will wait from 1 to 16 hours since he doesnt spawn right away...you will have 10% chance at 5 different spot to get him and those are good odds.

Good luck everyone, he does spawn you just have to stick to it and dont give up.

85 pally here. I went there one day after they did the patch. Nobody was in zone, and from all the named mobs that were up, nobody had been there yet. I was the first.

Went to one of the spots where Vaniki normally spawns. He was up. He had 2 guards. Did not matter, I took them all down. Got my Willsapper.

My advice, if you want one, and you know there is a patch, be there asap. You do not need track, just go there. Very likely, if you are fast enough after the patch, you will get it.

Key Questions When in Search for Vaniki
# Jun 22 2009 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
Date of this post is June 22, 2009.

Hi all,

These are some questions that I do not expect to be answered, but if they were accurately, they would help us all out with seeking out Vaniki. We all know this is an ultra-rare spawn. We all have read (or should have read) Prathun's posts in the SOE forums, so references or links to his posts are not required unless they add something new and definitive, but since there are several contradictory postings with regards to some key points regarding the spawn of Vaniki, I would like to offer this set of questions as an organized set of questions that should only be answered by those that know the answer, but not suspect that they know. This is so we can reduce ambiguity with information and not increase it. I apologize ahead of time if any of these questions were answered definitively anywhere on any forum reachable by google, but seeing as how I am on week 2 in my camping for Vaniki, I have at least had the time to formulate good questions.

1 - Has anybody on any server seen a Vaniki spawn since the fabled scripts were disabled? It was theorized by somebody somewhere that SOE broke the Vaniki spawn when they disabled the fabled scripts. Perhaps we can rule that out.

2 - Does Vaniki show in a tracker's tracking window? Since fabled? In these forums alone, there are posts that say he cannot be tracked and those that say he can. Perhaps somebody since fabled has seen Vaniki in their tracking window and can let us know here.

3 - Does killing rats in any way increase Vaniki's spawn rate? It has been said Yes and No. In interpreting Prathun's post regarding Vaniki's spawn points, he says essentially that for each spawnpoint, every 122 hours Vaniki either spawns or he doesn't, with a 10% chance that he does, for each spawnpoint. Furthermore he says that if he doesn't spawn that an unattackable invisible placeholder spawnpoint is placed instead which despawns in 122 hrs thus restarting the cycle. Ok, we can all get the basic idea here, but I find it interesting that in places where people have observed seeing Vaniki spawn that other rats spawn in these spots as well, including some named rats. Somebody said somewhere that killing these spawns can eliminate the 122 hr despawn timer and increase the chances of seeing Vaniki spawn, but according to Prathun, who I tend to place a heavier reliance on credibility wise, that if there is no Vaniki, that something unattackable spawns instead. Perhaps somebody can really answer this.

4 - Is the 122 hour Vaniki spawn point timer in game time or real time? This is another point that if you look around you will see contridactory answers. I have personally observed mobs that spawn in Vaniki's observed spawn points in a general time frame of 4 - 6 hours real time, but that doesnt mean there isn't a 122 hr real time timer happening as well.

5 - Since fabled, has anybody observed Vaniki spawn while in the zone? Many of us have heard the term anti-camp radius and if any of us have read about Vaniki, we can easily find dozens of posts about people that zoned in and bam, there he was, yadda ya. It would be really helpful to know if being in the zone in some way can prevent his spawn. I think it would truly suck if it could, but it is a pertinent question nevertheless, especially since we are talking about a camp that can take weeks.

6 - What all is on Vaniki's spawn table? This is the dream question.

7 - What is the delay time after server is up after a patch or maintenance that Vaniki can spawn? It has been said that after a patch that there is a 45% chance Vaniki could spawn, after his delay time has expired, but having been through 4 patches in a row, I guess I am either unlucky by missing the 45% chance marker or that something else is in play here.

If just questions #4 and #6 were answered, then we would have the golden chalice so to speak. #6 is a way of re-asking question #3 in clearer terms. If we knew this, we could eliminate much convolution.

If you chose to respond to my post, thank you in advance, but please, if you are responding without knowing, qualify your response as such so people are not mislead. Also, when talking about time, please specify game time or real time.

Good luck all with your search and thank you for reading.

Fabled mobs are activated and deactivated on their own without any intervention at all... the mobs are simply programmed to only show up at a certain time of the year. There is no mistake and disabling mobs after fabled is over. If you notice, seasonal mobs like Xmas and Halloween NEVER require downtime.

2 people AFK in zone when I entered; don't know what they were doing.
Vaniki wasn't up anywhere when I zoned in so I basically ran around everywhere that he could spawn.
(I didn't kill everything in site, mostly just everything that aggroed me, sometimes some 'alleged' placeholders, and randomn other mobs here and there.)

Last thing I pretty much did was pass through the pool area into a room, (I may have killed a rat), and when I went right back into the pool area Vaniki was there next to the puddle.
The entire time I was in DN I ran continuously throughout the area that I thought Vaniki might be.
So from the time I zoned in to the time that I saw Vaniki was 2h:22m:25s and this is after the 2009 Fabled mobs were removed.

Kills before I saw Vaniki:

1 a Chetari Warrior
5 a Chetari Dustshaper
3 a Chetari hunter

Thank you EQKhat. Your answer was just the kind of information I am looking for. For now, we can put questions #1 and #5 to rest.

Given how you were constantly moving around, I am wondering if the alarms and ground triggers somehow are connected. Although Prathun said nothing that might support this.

Thank you again,
This was helpful because now we know being in the zone after fabled isn't a complete waste of time.

Good Lord, 122 hour respawn? Do they want to encourage suicide?

Thanks for the info Prathun, this is a lot of fun learning about the mysteries of the older game.

Is Vaniki a 122 hour respawn or 122 hours at each possible spawn location?

When these 5 spawns initially trigger (not when the zone comes up - there is a delay before they will appear) there's a ~41% chance that Vaniki will be in the zone. 122 hours later, if there is no interference, all 5 will despawn, and 122 hours later they will respawn.
