Dozekar drops Tears required for the quests originating in the Temple of Veeshan. I think his name is probably in reference to his fellow dragons requiring that you kill him...

Thunderblast is a *****. As main shaman (level 62, while the other two shamans were level 60), I got smacked with the thunderblast early on due to the monk's invuln disc not working. After he was slowed, I went OOM fairly fast, making me completely useless. Additionally, the other shamans couldn't overwrite my slow, so it had to wear off before it was reslowed. Thunderblast lasted for about 6-8 minutes I'd estimate.

Thunder Blast takes 75 mana per tick (parsed on Lucy). A Shaman can overcome this with Canni 4 (80 to 81 mana/cast, at 1 per tick), Cannibalization every 3 minutes (1066 mana for 1950 HPs) and KEI. If you really want to keep up, you might try stacking Protection of the Cabbage/Glades and a Beastlord mana regen buff on with KEI. You won't have as many hit points as you would have with Aego or Virtue (which overwrite PotC/G), but Symbol of Kazad and PotC/G is only 100 HPs less than Virtue.

You CAN gate out. My guild had a failed Doz raid the other night. I watched the melee's get taken out and then of course, Doz started systematically taking out the casters. It was late - about 1 or 2 am -- and I didn't have time for a long CR. So I got quick permission from my guildies and gated outta there.

So yes, it's possible.

ack

is ToV like Veeshan's peak where you cant teleport out or anything, need to go to a zone out?? I havent traveled all the way there yet, almost though.. do you need a group all the time to go there? or would you live to zone in and get quests near the entrance, etc.. being on CoV faction?

I dunno, I sound like a newbie here, but need to learn somehow =P
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 17 2001 at 8:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) his ae's aren't based on anything, it is just unresistable, and it also takes off one buff in line ... so those tanks with the shrunken globlin earing will be very usefull...

Just to clear a few things up
ToV are kos to everyone on basis, they run on claws of veeshan faction, but they do not give faction hits if you slay them. Dozekar however is not easy, at all. He is stronger than most gods, and it takes around 40-50 people 55+ to kill him.
His AE's run for 400 points of damage a hit, and can be resisted if you have cold/fire resists which run 150+.
His loot include varios Tears which are for UBER quests in the Temple itself. For example,
one of his tears for a quest will result in a 20ac (yes 20ac) 15str 10sta 25sv Fire Earring -
This is truely uber.

Also if anyone cares, he does not look like this anymore, this picture as of 7/30/01 is incorrect. He looks red and is "small" for a dragon.
I hope this post will help some people, I tried to cover most of the false info i have read on this forum, i have killed Dozekar 4 times now

Actually you're a little wrong about that.

There are 3 kinds of mobs in ToV. NToV, HoT, Normal

-HoT
Factionless mobs, drop armor for Skyshrine quests, these are the easiest mobs in ToV, they're KoS to you no matter what.

-NToV
For the most part these mobs are always KoS to you no matter your faction. The factions they give I think are -CoV and -GoV. The only exception to this are hatchlings near the front, they're the same faction as normal mobs. These are also the most difficult set of mobs you will encounter.

-Normal
These are non-HoT, non-NToV mobs, found in the West Wing, and the South Wing (South Wing is just entrance) they give -CoV, -Yelinak, +Kromzek. These mobs along with NToV mobs drop armor you turn into Kael quest mobs along with gems for the superior Velious armor.

He's red, He is smaller than he was before, and he hits for 900 now. AoE is still 400, strips one buff per cast and is unresistable. His DD spells are resistable on sv. magic

Here is the skinny on this bad boy, or at least some of the info. I write this about an hour after having killed this guy, so I think I have a decent enough knowledge of him.

His AE's are one 400 pt DD that apparently cannot be resisted. The other AE dispells one buff at a time (just get insta click items for tanks). The AE is pretty mean when you consider that there is going to be upwards of 15-25 tanks in range of it, and the length of the fight. All AE's in ToV are line of sight dependent. IE: if you can't see the center of the npc, the AE won't hit you.

Melee wise, I think he quads 600, maybe triples, I am not really sure on that, and exact numbers don't matter all that much, as delay is important too. Basically, a well equipped (read full SS armor, epic, primal 1hs) will only be needing a CH every 6-8 seconds to keep alive, if he is defensive.

The main thing is controlling aggro, making sure that he stays on the one main warrior for as long as possible, with him defensive and a few clerics doing timed CH's on him.

We were able to accomplish this with about 30 people, probably 80% of which were 58+ at least.

Loot was a number of tears, which I assume are for quests within ToV.

Yup, you pretty much hit the nail on the head strategy wise. Really the most important things needed for Dozer are teamwork, levels and keeping your Main Assists alive. I can't stress that enough. When your dealing with a MOB that AE's the way he does you can't afford to lose your main tank and have agro bounce around reaming casters till the next tank has agro. Agro management is by far one of the most important aspects of this and many fights like these. 60 warriors with Epics or Primal are pretty much a must for him. His damage output is pretty high although other tank classes can keep him agro its not recommended. Defensive disc is a must, in fact we often find ourselves rotating 60 warriors that tank him in order to preserve mana by keeping a defensive tank on him at all times. This fight can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as 25 depending on your damage output and mana needs to be saved anyway possible. Although, we've had a 60 Epic Pally in Full SS tank him for over 8 minutes of a fight before but it was not by choice. Our two Main Warriors died early, the pally managed to get agro and our clerics found him with heals in time to keep the fight going. We kept him tanking while we buffed up our Warriors to finish the fight and re-establish agro. The pally ate up a ton of cleric mana and it was one our closest encounters with Dozer to date.

He's a pretty tough dragon and if your taking your first crack at him you will most likely lose a few times trying. Especially, if this is your first type of encounter like this. It takes a pretty good guild teamwork wise thats played together for a while to do a dragon like Dozer on a regular basis and effectively.

Suggested classes are:
Bards
Wizards (dragonsbane works)
Necros -clerics and wizards need twitches often this fight. They can also liftap him effectively and might even be able to disease him. I don't play a necro so I don't know for sure but I think I recall our Warlock saying he did land effectively on him. Necros are often overlooked on mobs like this but speaking from experience if your necros are good they can make the difference for you on fights like these.

20+ melee consisting of 2-4 level 60 Warriors min and focus on damage dealers for the rest.

Clerics out the ***
Shammys for buffs//debuffs

Pretty much every class is useful but these stand out a bit with this fight.

Attacks =
AE is 400 ice based Lure which debuffs one slot.
(I've never resisted it with resists well over 250 and bard in group)

High output melee, I don't recall his max off the top of my head and it might actually be higher than 600s.

I would not attempt him for the first time with anything less than 30 and even that is cutting it a bit low. It depends on the levels of your given group and what classes it consists of. Once you kill em a few times you will have a better idea of what exactly is best for your group.

We usually average around 35 per kill but have done it with less and more. All depends on turnouts and classes.

Drops: Tears required for ToV quests.
Usually 3 or 4 tears will drop off each kill.

These quests are a royal pain in the butt but they do produce some nice items. We've completed a few bracers of speed quests, shields, cloaks, neck pieces and I forget what else. The rewards are nice but they take lots of effort not just by an individual but an entire guild which involves many kills over time. His spawn time does produce somewhat of a bottleneck for these quests on servers as well. Hopefully verant will one day realize this and increase his respawn along with named mobs required for symbols.

Best of Luck,

dont forget enchanters for haste and C2... Being the only enchanter on many raids i get so many tells from everyone asking for buffs and i also have to cast manaseive a lot to prevent mobs from gating away or Chealing which can sometimes really ***** up things when you get a "boss" mob and several lower mobs all beating at you because of one gated successfully casted.
Keep his mana down! :)
Continue taking crack, its good for you no matter what your parents say
speed is also good no matter what your parents say :)
oh yeah and GRM (greater resist magic) is also very important on many mobs to prevent the main tank from becoming slowed and stuff which can seriously affect your aggro management!
Just some tips, have fun!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 27 2001 at 2:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Did killing him affect any factions? I saw a rumor that killing him gives +GuardiansOfVeeshan.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 23 2001 at 6:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) We gave Dozekar a try for fun with 30 players most of them lvl 60 and all died in 10 secs. It cost em 1 pixel HP. ;)
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 15 2001 at 4:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've now found my goal in EQ. I wish to organize a massive raid ( when I hit the right lvl, my lvl 24 warrior would be kibble to this thing ) and kill this thing, then get a screen shot of me throwing a rude gesture at its corpse. Then I'll submit the shot to a web page for bragging rights.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 03 2001 at 11:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, since i am only a level 40, i may not know anything (literaly i know nothing about ORGANIZED raids) but if it takes 50-60 people to kill a god, and they are levle 65, then how many people does it take to kill these level 70-75 things? i mean that is 5-10 levels ABOVE the gods of norrath, wouldn;t you need like half a server? (that last part is a joke)

I don't know either. I've never been on something that grand scale though I've had quite a lot of friends who have. I mean, just LOOKING at that picture honestly made me get a tad scared. Not because I thought "Oh my, the dragon is real and will snap me up." but because I'm like "Daaaamn that thing is phat! Imagine fighting it!". Anyway, I'd think that something that powerful, you'd have to honestly just have people in the 58 to 60 levels, and major uber guild actions. But wow.. wouldn't it be great to just be sitting in the back and watching it all? That'd be very cool.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 19 2001 at 2:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) heh trust me when i say u wont be sitting in the back just watching. most of the ToV dragons have super far-reaching aoe's that do hundreds of pts of dmg, catching all spectators/casters/tanks
