Rapticor  

Rapticor is pretty easy for a named. My 48 druid just cast "Enveloping Roots", "Ensnare", "Drifting Death", "Drones of Doom", and I nuked him repeatedly with Starfire, which did not break the roots.

He never broke the root, never hit me, nothin'.

Root 'n Rot technique is VERY effective on Rapticor, but kiting isn't a good idea considering how many mobs you can't see with all the trees in Wakening Land.

Solo'd him a while back with 52 Ranger and he dropped 2 x Hand of Ixiblat and a Muzzle of Mardu and a Crystal Belt - all summoned Pet Toys. I managed to root'n rot him quite easily with Ranger dot and bow (had a kei so now problemo!). This could be why he's been proving difficult to others as I didn't get involved in melle with him. He did take about 5 times as long as the other raptor to splat but then tolan does provide the arrows!!!

Twinked 46 Ikky Monk with Fungi camping raptor ledge by Skyshrine entrance. Rapticor is fairly rare spawn. He stunned me quite a bit and hits pretty hard compared to others. Doubled for 105 often.

Had to fight him and FD 5 times before I killed him first time. With Fungi and bind wound (170) I healed faster than he did so eventually got him down. No loot first kill.

Tried all sorts of weap combinations and found that he can be stunned so used Sarnak Warhammer in primary and Zekhas in off hand. Resisted proc from either weap about 20%. Only took three FD's with this combo. Second kill had rune of infraction. <sigh>

I killed him twice with my lvl 52 ranger, dropped Crushed Diamond Dust Both times. I have not no idea what its for, checked a couple of the eq websites with no luck, anyone know what it's for?? Or is it merchant fodder?

Just solo'd him abit ago..lvl 47 ranger..didn't take no 5 mins to kill him..use'n S and lam,used tolan arms<free dot> 2 snares and a ton of fears hehe.He don't run as fast as sow..pulled him and kept in front easy..alot of hit points tho..and don't run till he almost dead.Fear came off and he was real low..thought he would at any sec..damn near killed me hehe..had to root redot and heal afew times..then nuked him for 99 and he turned to run soon as root wore off..could barly see any health on his bar.

As a 49 druid with 203 wisdom it took my full bar of mana to kill him, and thats with sitting to med while he's rooted and my dots were eatting away at him.
6 drifting death @650 each = 3900
6 immolate @240 each = 1440
6 engulfing roots @ 157each = 942
Total hp aprox = 6282
He dropped nothing at all and the xp was less then I got for killing a tigersaurus. The only resist I got was on immolate once so his MR isnt too high.
Well thats my 2cp worth, G'luck hunting.

I tackled this beast this past weekend. Killed a few Green Tigeraptors, one blue Tigersaurus without much trouble, then Rapticor shows up. Never heard of him. He cons blue to me so I attack....OUCH!! I have to root and back up to heal with my Deepwater Helm before he has even lost a bub of health. I cast my Divine Might spell just as the battle started and it wore OFF before the battle was over. 10 more healing events later...going OOM completely (I was at half when I started)...several resisted stuns and roots...and using my Lay Hands, we were down to the last blow. One or two more blows and he turns and walks off. A few more blows on me and I'm down, no more mana for heals, roots, stuns or even a Yaulp II! I am out of tricks.

Unfortunately, I lost. One more root and I would have had him, but he's not to be taken lightly unless you can Snare, Fear Animal and Dot. If you have these abilities like a Ranger or a Druid, or can kite him like a Bard, I'm sure he's cake, if you don't...WATCH OUT!!

Keep in mind my healing was mana free with my DW Helm and he still took me out after a 15+ REAL LIFE minutes in battle!

"Never Mistake Kindness for Weakness"

Just soloed this today. Usually my pet can solo 2 tigerraptors by itself (along with a DS). Usually my pet can solo 1 tigersaurus by itself (along with DS). This freaking mob my mob could not solo. Made new pet, DS it, sic it on the Rapticor. After 1 min, I find my pet is at 60% HP and the Rapticor is still at like 90%. Ahh, well, I am at 80% mana. Casted SoS for 600dmg each and finally Rapticor goes down. Pet is at 2% HP and I am at 20% mana. Dropped Crushed Lava Ruby and Tigerraptor Hide. Yay

He dropped a crushed lava ruby for me. Guess I got lucky.

I kited him fairly easily (51 bard, chant kite) and he dropped a Rapticor Hide. No idea if the hide is for anything.

I've read he also drops the Strong Raptor Guts used for the Iceforged Shackles quest.

51 Pal 49 Enc and 45 Rog dropped this guy easy, lot of hps, but I think it hit for maybe 105

Rapticor also seemed faster than sow.
As a lvl 51 sk, I was able to keep him darked and feared through most of the fight
I ran out of mana with him at about 1/4 health, so I hit him with Harmtouch and
that was enough to start him running away.
At one point he dropped Darkness while feared and even with Jboots, I could not catch up to him at all. He seemed like he was much faster than sow.
He dropped a crushed flame emerald. Which is for the Melee Bracer quest.

Good luck with this guy.

PS. Don't even think about it if you are less than lvl 50 as he hits fast and hard.

I managed.. (Through luck as much as skill) to solo this guy yesterday. He dropped the diamond for the velious armor quests. If only I needed that one.. Ah well
