In Kael Drakkel: The Avatar of War spawns in the arena after the death of The Idol of Rallos Zek. It's highly resistant to fire, but weak to ice and magic.

In Kael Drakkel, the King's Madness: Spawns after The Idol of Rallos Zek dies. It AE rampages; its "Devastation of Rallos" hits everyone on its hate list. Reportedly, The Avatar of War despawns after having been up for 20 minutes regardless of whether it is aggro (The Avatar of War is the final mob in a three-named ring that starts with The Statue of Rallos Zek.) It sees through Invisibility. It has a large agro range and will assist other mobs nearby.

just for info, shortly after pop came out, before time but after ele plains on mith marr pickup raids form for him every once in awhile, 3 groups only need 3 to 4 clerics, only need 2 to 3 in the chain and a warrior with like 6k+ hp unbuffed. hes a sissy its all about mt with 2hander and clerics, after that its just beating his back for 20 mins
He doesn't Rampage, only Flurries.
I back this statement up. He doesn't rampage and it's needlessly dangerous to think he does. Have all your healing support on the MT and he's cake.

Hi everbody,
you should be advised that this mob DESPAWNS after half an hour. I know this because i was out in force with my guild, we were all ready to get him while we were bringing some latecommers in and POOF ! no avatar. 40 man raid down the tubes :(.

AoW was just taken down yesterday by <Decade > on the nameless to 34 peeps. It was our first try ever, and it was beautifully done. Raid avg lvl was 63, and had only 2deaths, and one LD during the fight. Dropped helm, bow, and 2 rings, fight lasted 15-20 mins, and a few clerics went oom, had some druids/shams step in and heal for em. Very fun fight, grats Decade :-p

Actually <Decade> gets all the credit. <Ascentia> did a joint raid with them in Sept 2003 - 3 months later.
Does this guy come with a CoV faction hit like the statue or not?

Hmm...I went to an AoW kill just for faction, and I was dubious to CoV and now I am warmly to CoV after Vindi, Statue, Idol, and Avatar.

The AoW was taken down last night on Lanny's by Rising Chaos 5/14/03, outstanding fight and a long one. This guy is easy? plz! Not many that I know can take him. Great fight tho, hats off to their first AoW kill, glad I was there to help and see the slaying of this big guy.

Chances are if a guild is full out of PoP gear they wouldn't be going for AoW anyhow. AoW is still an excellent source for melee equipment, the BoC still rocks for warriors. And AoW still provides a challenge for those that are not full out raiding PoP zones.
Blade of Carnage on our guild's main tank has almost single handedly won us fight after fight. Farming this guy for plat to buy BoCs or farming it for BoCs seems to me a must for any serious guild no matter if they are in PoTime or beyond.

Poison Arrow took him down on the Brell server, 4th guild to do it.
We pulled him to one of the dead end alleys nest to the arena. Once we got him just inside the alley, we had our main tank obtain solid aggro. Then we moved him just a bit farter in the alley and against the wall. The rest of the melee's engaged after that.
We made sure we had a main tank rotation, so that if one died, the next would step right in. If a MT died, everyone stopped fighting so that the next MT on the list could acquire solid aggro. We went through 2 tanks before we took him down.
We of course had a CHEAL rotation. We had 5 clerics. And we runed the MT.
The fight took about 10 minutes.
To see if we were ready, we fought the Idol unslowed. It's a good test to see if a guild is ready for AoW.

Hmm, my guild tried the AoW for the first time today and due to the lack of announcing a proper tank rotations we wiped due to the chaos after the MT going down. Eventually we wiped with the AoW at 9 %.
Anyways, having been the MT in the AoW and the Idol fight, I can't really say that the Idol is a proper training. Yes, the Idol is harder then, say, the Statue of Rallos Zek. We killed Idol and only had a death from pulling. The damage output of the AoW is much, much higher than that of the Idol.
Killing hte Idol unslowed is a good training for the proper CH chain set up. We did Idol with 4 second chain, AoW with a 2 second chain with 6 clerics. I was constantly checking my HP and I must say that against the Idol I never came close to death, whereas often even the the 2 second chain got me down to below 20 % HP.
The biggest difference between AoW and Idol is, that the Idol hits for between approx. 230 to 1100 wheras the AoW hits for approx. 450 to 1150. And the AoW has a much higher ATK rate, meaning that whereas the Idol hits really often for below 400, even for minimum 200s, the AoW hits constantly for around 600 to 800. So the AoW can do way more damage than the Idol. Also, the AoW flurries which hurts a lot (thought not often), whereas the Idol doesn't flurry or rampage at all.
All I basically want to say is even if you can take down the Idol unslowed, the AoW is a whole lot tougher, don't underestimate it at all costs.
As far as HP are concerned, the AoW has prolly around 20 % more HP than the Idol, not such a big difference there.

Odd how all the loot is droppable but the only caster (possible) item and the bow...
Just wondering, how many HP does this mob approx. have?
