He's a bit much for a solo 4 Shammy to manage. Chain nukes Frost for 12 and punches just as hard. Plus he has a damage shield...

Not sure why, but at level 5, these guys are stupidly easy.
They resist Sickness about half the time, and are very resistant to Frost. Nuke 'em with Fire and you'll be a happy shammy.
They have a quick despawn time. About 1 minute to 90 seconds.
Spawn rate is about 1 in 7 tonight.

I found the caster at the most southern igloos on the plains in everfrost. There is trouble though.
I DID GET ATTACKED by something there at a high level, and ice damned skeleton!!Thank the tribunal i had sow cast on me!
For the quest it dosnt matter what kind of beads are dropped, any kind is accepted by the guy, or has this changed?

Does anyone know if the casters spawn in the bear caves?

You peopel are full of sh*t. Are you sure your are killing the goblin caster? There is only one ice goblin camp where he spawns. And he spawns about one in four or five times in a certain place. I killed him twice. First time I got nothing, however 15 minutes later when he respawned I killed him and got the caster beads and the were unbroken.

Rejoice, fellow barbarian Shamans, for the faction on the caster bead quest (and most other quests in Halas) has been changed, so you no longer become KOS so easily in th bank. So don't worry about slaughtering casters for beads and then dying in the bank!

On the other hand, killing these things is a safe easy way of levelling, especially in that pesky 6-9 range, beads or no beads, and there is very little that will come find you to nosh on your behind when you do it

They spawn maybe one in six in place of the far more common scouts. I have never personally seen undamaged caster beads, and have my doubts as to whether or not they exist. I had a theory that my weapons were shattering the beads during melee, but at higher levels, I have used a single Dot spell and received the same shattered beads. The hammer itself is not really worth the frustration of camping these things.

at 11th level shaman i have yet to find the elusive caster beads for the quest and ive camped these beasts for 8-9 hours at a time..rarely even find broken beads..maybe 15 over time (no drop)with concerns about becoming kos in bank, leads to abandoning the broken beads to the corpses..what a waste...frustrating to say the least..as for levels of the casters i cant say other than they can cast their fire based spell 3 times before i can cast my dot spell twice or a dot and a melee attack..they are fast casters as the name implies...doubt i'd try them at 3 seasons..all i got to say

Man it seems like all the levels to everfrost critters on this site are under rated. I killed tons of casters in search of NON-SHATTERED casters beads for the gavel of justice. When I finally got a set I was level 8 and ALL of them still conned blue...

They go down at least to level 2 and up to at least level 4

The levels on the caster is incorrect. I have been camping for the elusive caster necklace to get the Gavel Of Justice. There is still an occasional blue caster to me at 7th level.

Agreed, I have been camping them for a while too, only to find an iron ration or two, maybe an alcoholic beverage. The most I have gotten were 7 shattered caster beads (over a period of 4 hours of camping). I hope the Gravel of Justice is worth it.
