Just passin it along.....I hunted these embers as my last epic item. Soloing Phur at 57 wasnt too bad, but had to box my chanter for CC. You will get adds, unless you plan to pull each mob to the hill that surrounds Silix. That seems to be pretty safe up there.

I had 6 different groups and about 10 solos there before I got the embers.

Took me 2 weeks, 30 named kills (Nez & Phur)to get embers.

I had nights where we couldnt even get the spawn started, in this case go do something productive.
You should be able to get the spawn going in about 20 min of killin every 'CLOSE' wondering mob to the spawn loc.

I'd like to shout @ Kroxim, Tenlayen, and Katonix/Sylann. Thanks for helpin wit dis one guys!

Also, All in all I probably killed 12 Nez's and 18 Phurs. I got my embers off of Phur and 20 min later Kroxim got his embers off another Phur.

Hope this helps with you upcoming Mages

not a hard camp, you can either slaughter, or HS... or if you have a group, both.
I did this earlier with a 51 bard(for him) some mid 40's BL, and a druid of some lower level as well, i started by HSing everything in sight, while the bard and druid/BL killed and watched. We got lucky after half an hour and phurzikon or whoever popped. 3-5 spawns after kill with no guts, Nezekezena spawned, whle i was afk, and started eating the group, i noticed in time and joined in, it was a VERY easy kill, which i could solo as a 65bard(200aa), very easily with chants, not many hp at all, diddnt evne need a pet.
Nez dropped guts, no mage piece.

Once I finally got the spawn cycle started I saw this guy a lot, for my magician epic. I am a level 65 Magician, so I dont know how helpful my input will be for the lower levels needing his Burning Embers, but here is what I know about how difficult he is.

He hits for NO more than what the other "wurms" in the area hit for. 70-150 hp. Yes, he does summon, but he hits for so little and so slowly, that its barely an issue. With my 61 air pets taunt, he forgets about me as soon as im out of his range again. Not sure on his exact HP but it seemed to be somewhere around 10-15k. I used my 61 air pet to kill him, focused with a Diamond Prism of Companionship, and he never once needed a heal, let alone drop below 50 health. He does gate, but if you're using the air pet like I did, the stuns are more than covered. Here is the strategy I used to solo him.

Send in 61 Air pet.
Let pet beat him down to 80
Cast Black Steel (Sun Vortex is fire, too resistable by the wurms)
Continue casting black steel till he was at 30 and save it till he was at 15
once it was at 15, burn him down to avoid him gating.

He never did manage to gate, tho he tried with all his might :P. So I'm not sure where he would gate to...

Hope this info helps someone... GL

Hehe,
just got done killing both nezekezena and phurzikon in less then 30 minutes.Went to the same camp spot listed in other posts and within 5 minutes i saw phurzikon up.Kelled him and had mage with me for grins(he didnt think he would spawn).at any rate mage was pissed cause he didnt drop the epic piece for him.anyway not about 15 minutes laster i had nezzy on track as well.Took him down-little bit tougher fight becuase he gated on me.Had bard mem bruscos boastful bellow and took nezzy on again.this time he did not gate as my bard was interuppting him with bellow.Got my epic drop from nezzy and all is well.Going to Skyfire now to take on eldrig.

Hello,
I was wondering what the spawn /loc on this mob was...in one post it says -480, -2250...and another post says +470, -2550...any info would be appreciated...also some general directions on the area(i.e. near the Frontier Mountains zone? Chardok? Skyfire? Dreadlands? Mountain Giant fort? anything that would let me know I am in the correct place.) Thanks in advance for any info.

Nez/Phurz spawns
# Apr 21 2004 at 12:17 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, so... I'm gonna post what I learned along the way and what was different from what I thought about the spawn after reading all the posts I could find about these wurms.

A) We killed everything at neg465 neg2545 (so that much is right) and the first mob to spawn there begins the cycle. It's not necessarily any specific mob.

B) Once the cycle begins, it doesn't end until you allow the mob (whatever it is) to idle there long enough and start wandering for the next ambitious mage/bard to come along and kill it to start the cycle again.

C) Both wurms spawned elsewhere WHILE we were at that spot killing. Our druid noticed them on track and pulled to us. (Side note: both gate so try to stun when their health is low, they can gate past tracking range)

D) Respawn is around 90 seconds and begins countdown from when the last mob to spawn at that loc died.

E) Adds are plentiful because of all the wanderers in the area. Do not think you will be up against just one mob when you get the spawn cycle to begin. We had as many as 4 on us at once.

Hope this post helps you all 8)

I was camping at loc -480, -2547 for a few hours. I never saw Phurz but Nez seemed to spawn at every 30 min killing the PH. He droped the Bard Item all the time. I am sure it take a lot of kill for mage item to drop.

this badboy casts "Elnerick's Entombment of Ice" (root/nuke 350 HPs) and nukes for another 1120 HPs ("Ice Comet" I guess). Bang! At least I made it back in time for the Red Wurm Gut. Would have been smart to buff Cold Resist before the fight.

Some guildmates and I did this camp tonight (they must have been bored Smiley: tongue ). Levels ranged from 43 to 62. We went to exactly -470, -2550. I dropped an elemental defender on the ground as a marker (it has a pulsating glow).

There are tons of wandering mobs around here. At level 59 they ranged from green to the rare dark blue.

With a full group, including my water pet and a bst pet we felt pretty safe. The killing spree began. We mostly stayed within eyesight of the marker and mercilessly dispatched every mob that had the misfortune to wander within range.

I kept a close watch on the spawn point and sure enough, a scoreia hornet spawned right on the spot. I suppose it could have been any of the various mob types that could have started the cycle. I announced to the group the spawn cycle had begun.

We killed a number of spawns, including a few Nezekezenas and Phurzikons. One Phurzikon kindly bestowed upon us a burning embers and the red worm gut for the bard epic. We just happened to have a bard with us who needed the drop.

Many thanks to those who posted all the helpful information on this camp. Smiley: bowdown

I finally got this wurm to spawn. Killed it easily with a Druid, Paladin and me (Magician). Of course it didn't drop the embers (I am cursed to never finish my epic) but it did drop the Bard epic piece. I checked in my guild window, and one of our bards was on. I told him to get to BW quick. He ran fast and I sent the druid to the zoneline to invite him into the group. As soon as the bard was in the zone and grouped with us, I CoTH him and he got the Red Wurm Gut with 1 second to spare. LOL

I'll be in BW for a while looking for Nezzy again. sigh. Why is the mage epic so ridiculously difficult?

I went to the spawn point and got the spawn cycle going pretty quickly. I noticed that most of what spawned there was light blue to me (lvl 62) while all of the wandering mobs were green. I spawned 6 Nezzys (and an extra Nez strolled by while I was fighting a Nez I spawned (WTF?). All of the Nez spawns dropped the guts, but no embers for me.

I als got 3 Phurzikons to spawn too. The last Phurry was glowing and dropped my Embers! YEA! Now all I need is the damn Cloak from Quillmane and the Waterstaff from Phinny.

Just took him down tonight for my alt's epic. Unfornately he managed to spawn 3 times in a row. The ranger with me, who was 62 kited him around while I ran my bard in to loot. Was at the spawn point of Neg 470 Neg 2550 and a spawn would happen about every 60 seconds after the mob would die. He seemed to be rather instant. Soon as he died he popped again and again.

spawn point broke?
# Dec 19 2003 at 2:32 AM Rating: Decent
Plz ignore this post. It isnt broke just takes a while to find what spawn from that point. I did finnaly get my embers and Nez WAS glowing when I got them. I a 63 mage soloed Nez and Phurz quite easily with air pet. They so busy casting you dont have to worry much about pet heals or aggro. I debuffed with Mala and nuked with Black Steel. Very easy to kill. Also i found that if you see a Scoriae Hornet in Nezekena's spawn area kill it. it spawns from nez's spawn point.

Camping this now...

Phurzikon is light blue and Nezekezena is dark blue to lvl 65. The 1.5 min spawn time is about right (for both the PHs and the named wurms). PHs can be skellies, hornets, giants, undead gorillas, wurms, and sarnaks.

There is no set rule for spawning. Phurzikon doesn't have to spawn first and they don't have to spawn right after each other. I just killed Nezekezena and a sarnak spawned after. Named wurm is more likely to spawn between 3-10 PHs. Wow! Neze just spawned right after itself!

Nezekezena and Phurzikon start fleeing from me when they hit 20% hp. It's an easy solo camp for a 65 SK.

3 Bards--FEAR
# Nov 04 2003 at 12:27 PM Rating: Decent
We did him with 3 Bards. Send in pets. Eventually, usually on the first charm break, someone gets summoned. Everyone rush in and Snare/Fear.

Have at least two of you twisting Fear, in case one gets resisted, misses notes etc. Also, staying in range is tough. I found that if you stay real close to the hind legs, up under his ***, fear will usually reach. Still, have two fearing.

Put intimidate on your fear song hotkey using /doability x. It only works about 1 third of the time, but it does not seem to be as range dependent as AE Fear song. (You can tell which actually feared em from different message: "Target looks very afraid" is Intimidation. "%t flees in terror" is Fear Song)

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 26 2003 at 5:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) My 59 bard and a 62 Necro were at the spawn point killing the PH for about an hour. All of a sudden, this guy spawns. But not at the spawn point.. a ways behind me to the east. So ok. We fear kite him and get him down to 3% when somehow he gates. Instantly his hp shoots up to 30%.

OK, so we off X number of mobs and then the Wasp will pop? Then killing the Wasp will make Neze pop? Is the location of the Wasp random or near Neze's spot is what I'm trying to get at?

However, Nezekezena is harder due to the numberous monsters running around and all the potential adds. Tag Nezekezena and lure him to a secluded spot, and use the same tactic as Eldrig:

Bard (56) constantly fear kites, Wizard (65) casts Atols and nukes until dead.
Figured somethin out
# Jul 08 2003 at 9:51 PM Rating: Decent
Ok this is what i figured out. PH's spawn ever 70 to 90 seconds. The wurms seem to spawn 3 time in a row in a set. On the night i went, phur spawned first, then Nez, then phur. then for about a half hour of killin PH's Phur spawned again, then Nez then Phur again. 2 bards ended up getting the guts. Didn't stick around for the last Phur so don't know if 2 embers drop. I know one did. I know the 70 to 90 seconds thing is a fact. But the way the wurms spawn, could have just been luck.

You must have been really lucky here, but I don't think they do. After getting Dirt of Underfoot off Slixin Klex for with my alt, I went & camped the named wurms @ neg 550 neg 2550.

Was dual boxing 55 mag & 63 pal, then 65 rng & 63 pal so killing local mobs fast was really not an issue but I only got Phurzikon to spawn once (no embers of course), then i got hornets/ skellies during the 3ish hours I spent there.

Yesterday a guildy said Nez was up in BW so i ran over there real quick. Ended up that 2 Nezekezena's were up and i killed em both simultaneously. First dropped guts. and second got stuck up on top of a tree and i couldnt loot it :(
was an easy solo kill for me using my equiped 61 mage pet each time.

Found a good use for the Levitation Song when hunting hill giants -- when they die up a tree, levitation can get you (or the main looter) up high enough to get 'em. (Dunno if it would have worked in your case, since you're a mage, but for Bards... * grin * )
Burning embers
# May 04 2003 at 2:36 PM Rating: Decent
Okay this is getting to be a real pain. I have been camping the named wurms with my 51 Mage for almost 2 weeks on and off. I am able to solo them - chain casting pets etc. Total kills of named wurms have been 22 and NO Burning Embers. For such a minor part of our epic, this is getting ridiculous. Anyone else been having this problem? Anyone find a better kill time - night/day?
Only good thing is i started at 12% exp..as of now I am 82%. Soon all will be green by the time the Embers drop:(

There are only two named wurms you need to be concerned with, nez nad Phurzikon.

Nez ca be soloed I think, by chain casting pets, but summoning is a real pain.

Nez has a high degree of regeneration too

56 Bard here, Took out Nezzi yesterday just using Pets whereever I could find them. Target a Mountain Giant.. Charm sic on Nezzi. As bard, as long as you don't do any physical damage to the dragon, you won't be summoned until AFTER charm breaks off. just have pet targeted for when charm breaks.. Summoned.. run away slightly.. recharm.. sic on Nezzi.
when pet dies, have another pet ready to go (kite one from around the area if you have too) and the second your summoned.. Charm new pet, sic on nezzi. This method takes a while but it is doable. Just make sure your near her GATE point so she doesn't heal back up to full by the time you find her again.
My recommendation is to have a Mage/bard combo it with pets only. Nezzi will go down FAST.

This is a great strategy and doesn't require you to drag a bunch of people to a zone that nobody wants to go to anyways. Tried this stat tonight with a 54 mage and me, a 54 bard. Mage used earth pet while I charmed mobs. Was terribly easy. Thanks for the post, it helped a ton! By the way, dropped mage epic piece only, grats Mas.
