Spawn point and strat verified

Set a character or pet on spawn point -470, -2550, and kill everything in the area of a few hundred yards. Once you have the spawn point respawning on your head, you can just kill it and roamers as they agro.

I ran over to the loc posted below by others and started killing. I would pull as many mobs as I could find over to the spawn point and clear the mob. Took about an hour to get her to spawn and collect the gut.

Came back on nostalgia trip before I retire (again).

Spawn point -470 -2550.
Just put pet on guard here, then splat anything in range until spawns start. Guard point gives you a marker to watch.
Can't miss the spawn point, cos it's one of those spawns where they swim in the air for a few secs on arrival.

Confirming that LOC is EXACTLY -470 -2545. Mobs here spawns directly ontop of me. Got nez a few times already after a few mins. Can stand here with pet and get auto-aggroed. Easiest way to get it done when u have cleared the whole area and get it to spawn. Hope this helps.

LOC (-431, -2542) approximately.

The PH spawns in a clearing, just beside some trees. I tried to see if there was a sequence of PHs for Nezekezena, but there didn't seem to be. Spent about 2 hours at the spot, got through about 10 Nezekezenas and about 6 Phurzikon spawns before the Embers dropped for my mage. Only Nezekezena summoned me, and both tried to run at 10%.

The below posts by cmcewan74 and Lancetheavatar are spot on.

I went to the loc listed below and parked my mage. I began clearing all the mobs with my ranger around the spawn and just checked back every 80 seconds or so.

After a while I got lazy and just sat at the spawn spot, killing any roamers which were in range of my bow. To be truthful I found this more effective than running around.

I spent 2 hours here and had Nez spawn probably about 6/7 times, dropping the guts on all but the last time when he dropped the embers.

I never had Phurzikon spawn whilst I was there.

One note I'll make is that one time I noticed on track that Nez had spawned in the NW part of the zone (I'm guessing where Gylton/Entalon are meant to spawn from reading some of the posts) so I ran over and killed him there.

I camped Nez/Phur today on Vulak(progression server) I lost the camp once to link death, and had to restart the spawn cycle. This is a quick write up on what I did, in case anyone else is still doing these quests.

I zoned in from Frontier and proceeded to an older loc, -450, -2250. I was the only person in the zone, which meant that unfortunately there was no tracker available. Assuming that neither Nez or Phur was up, I proceeded to slowly circle out from the previously mentioned loc and kill everything in sight. This included Skeletons, Sarnaks, Giants, wurms, and gorillas. I kept my Necro box seated on the position and monitored for spawns. Once I killed the place holders, it began a spawn cycle.

I can confirm that spawns on the loc listed above (-450, -2250) approximately every 80 seconds. I can also confirm that according to what spawned on the loc, skeletons, Sarnaks, Giants, Wurms, gorillas, and wasps are all fair game to be place holders, so do not rule out ANY mob around that loc as a place holder.

In four hours of camping the loc once I had the cycle running, Phur spawned approximately one out of every ten mobs (1/10th), and Nez spawned maybe one in 25 or so at best. Nez is definitely the rarer of the two wurms, but he always dropped the red wurm gut. After about five or so Nez spawns, he finally dropped the Burning Embers.

From the standpoint of taking out the named wurms, I had a Magician and a Necromancer, and duoing them was no issue. I would say that both were easily soloable on my Magician (level 59), although I would recommend that you chain pets. Phur is a push over, and runs at 20% health. Nez, on the other hand, seems to want to nuke you till approximately 5-10%. Still, not an issue as long as you are at least half to full mana and are careful. The biggest problem at this camp is adds; my recomendation is to take along someone (Another Mage, A Necromancer, or a Shadow Knight would probably be best) in order to help out with them. While they are not dangerous in and of themselves, they do tend to gang up on you fairly quickly.

I hope this helps any Magicians or Bards in their quests. Good luck.

I've been doing the Epic 1.0 with my Bard, and this was good information. Neg 450, Neg 2250 puts you in the right general area. There are a couple of respawn points that are near that location. The specific point I got Phurzikon and Nezekezena to spawn from is Neg 470, Neg 2547. Good luck.

I confirm loc n480 x n2550. hung out about 30 mins. got 4 phurz and 2 nez. 2nd nez had our drop. hung around for repop and followed it. the path it took was south east to loc n1170 x n3325. it hung around ther a bit then travelled almost due north to loc p55 x n3290. hung around there a bit and then it went south southwest to loc n2000 x n2815. and then ( i am embarassed but i am not a tracker) i lost it in the woods.

camped Nez for 3 hours last night, was originally just killing everything in the middle of the eastern part of the zone by the Frontier ZL but finally just went north, ignored the spawn locs listed here on Alla. Killed for about five minutes up at the northern end of the zone and voila, Nez starts pathing down from the Skyfire ZL.
Note: My companion said she thought that when she killed hornets/wasps, wurms spawned far more often. I myself had just killed a hornet at the northern end when Nez spawned for me.
Dropped Guts for my bard on first try :) good luck all.

I can also confirm that he spawns at -477, -2554. I did not have to kill the "A scoreia wasp" to start him spawning.

I started by parking my mage at his spawn point and running around with my bard highsunning everything I saw. After about 20-30 minutes nothing had landed on my mage, so I changed strategies. Starting from the spawn point, I started running an ever-widening circle, killing everything I saw. After about 15 minutes Nez popped right on my mage's head.

He popped four times in a row.

1. Bard epic piece
2. Bard epic piece
3. No epic pieces
4. Mage epic piece

The 5th pop was a gorilla. I killed him and then gated.

So it seems that once you start the spawning he pops very frequently.

Thanks to all the previous posters for the very useful info!

Under Nezekezenas Beastiary page, the October 2010 post by Dragoste of Spiritwalker mentioned that he Highsunned Neze back to Pos 2797 pos 1027. Yesterday I asked in guild for help and they came to help me kill for my 59 Mage on Vulakk’Aerr, Progression Server. I found the first and most posted about spawn point (neg 477, neg 2554) and found it camped (could see the corpse piles from quite a ways away. My group was still coming so I told them we would try this second point and see what we could get.

Neg 477, Neg 2554 is in the eastern side of Burning Woods, in the trees but right next to the Burned out area.

Pos 2797, Pos 1027 is found up towards the Skyfire zone line. On the EQAtlas map (http://www.eqmacwiki.com/eqatlas/burningwoodmap.html) You can see a path that looks like a “T” in the north. The far west point of the horizontal top of the “T” starts heading on a SE track and where it turns due east is the spawn point area. The spawn point is ON THE PATH.

During a 6 hour period, we got 3 Burning Embers, and about 6 Bard Guts, with several of those rotting. After I left, the one mage that had joined us late got his Embers within 30 mins. 4 embers, 6 guts in 6 hrs, 30 mins.

We set up and started pulling everything we found to hopefully find the PH that spawns at that point. After over 1 hour I was getting very concerned that maybe this was not a viable point when a skelly popped on the path very close to where I had parked my pet as marker of the approx spawn point. We killed it and kept pulling and almost 90 seconds later another skelly popped there. We killed it and I told everyone to stop pulling. Almost 80 seconds later, pop – PH. As of that point I told the group we are now changing our tactics to focus on that spawn. 15 minutes later – Phurzikon spawned. It was not Neze, but I knew Phurz could drop the Burning Embers too.

PH’s included Skeletons, Wasps, Giants, Gorillas, Wurms, Sarnaks, and either Phurzikon or Nezekezena. Timer was 82 seconds respawn. This location IS a viable second hunt spot. The tactics for getting the PH is exactly the same for both spots, requiring killing for a time until you get that PH to spawn at his point.

Some other details about this spawn area.

There are other spawn points near here. Several times we got spawns popping right on us as we circled the Neze/Phurz spawn point and thought maybe the point was in this area, not at that one point. This was pure speculation as the PH kept appearing on that point, even seconds after the other spawns popped on us. The same type of creatures spawned, notably Giants, Skeletons, Gorillas and Wurms. The timer on those was too random to even try to keep track and was very inconsistent.

More spawn points happened within eye-site of this point among the area NE to NW of this point. Also random and we did not waste energy trying to time any of them.

Like the eastern Neze point, this area is a pathing highway for mobs. They path through here from all points, to walking past us outside the camp site (again, we circled the point so outside is outside our circle), to pathing through an edge of our cirle to walking right through the center of our circle. Some times you do not need to pull – they can come to you.

Because of the pathing and popping in of random spawns, this camp is sometimes dead with no mobs to very dynamic. If your group cannot handle 3-7 mobs at once, have an evac/succor ready. If your focus is the Bard Epic drop, Mage epic drop or just XP’ing or hoping for a rare item drop from the Nameds, it is better to sacrifice the camp than your chars lives. You can always come back and likely get the PH very son after coming back.

Most in my group were 49-57 with me being 59. They were very pleased with the XP coming in, and several leveled during our session.
This location can be used for simple XP’ing also if you are ready to handle the Nameds too.

So there are 2 good places to do this hunt, both locations are viable.

-480, -2547 Will to spawn Neze.

You may have to restart the timer again after a few spawns of Phurk and Nek wash rinse repeat to start timer.

Its March 2009 let EQ after 7 years for 2 years came back and I did what my post said PhurK dropped embers for me tonight after spwaning him 3 times and Nek 3 times woot EQ still rocks.

Can confirm that standing at -477, -2554. is the best option. I don't remember the spawn time on the ph but it isn't very long must have taken me at most 30 minutes. Tried running around and killing certain mobs listed below for 2 hours and it did nothing. My advice is to kill the mobs around -477, -2554, and wait for the the ph's the spawn there. Good Luck.

Here's the real way to get Nez to pop.

Nezekezena is not a rare mob at all and very easy to spawn. Nez is not on a cycle nor does he have a place holder.

I ran in to Burning Woods with a tracker and found Phurz up. I tracked him down and before we attacked him we checked track to see the first mob on the list. We killed phur and very quickly Nez showed up at the top of the list.

We quickly ran to the spawn point and it was : -477.95 -2554.35. Middle of the eastern side of the zone.

As soon as we killed Nez, about 90 seconds later a mob popped down on that spot. So we just stayed there and camped that spot. I started writing down the mobs that spawned, thinking it was a cycle. Which I learned quickly wasn't true. It's random.

It would be easier to list the mobs we didn't see spawn there than the huge list of ones we did. We didn't see mobs like glyton or gullerback. But lots of tatterbacks, sarnek avengers, greater plaguebones, Verdant and Ancient giants (no Arbours though). In a totally random order. Just about everything you can find on track from that spot popped though that spawn.

To make it easy, have one person stand watching that spot while others go and kill everything on track from that spawn. When something pops there you know you got the right mob.

Also, we made an effort not to kill any other mobs around us. I just had a necro fear off any roamer that aggro'd on us. I didn't want other spawn points generating mobs in case the named wurms could spawn at other locations. It just made things easier.

Some times I would get Nez three times in a row then Phur would spawn, then a couple hornets, then a skel, then an ape, then a wurm...on and on..totally random. But the named were showing up all the time. I must have killed 10 named wurms on that spot in 20 minutes.

Regular wurms were rare, but they did show up once in a while. So people saying that wurms are the place holders are for the most part wrong.

Getting Nezekezena to pop
# Mar 12 2007 at 2:52 PM Rating: Decent
I got into the area in Burning woods and move to -450 +2500 , and with a friend SK started smearing everything in the area, then when I saw the mob (wurm) in my tracking menu I started pulling those to kill, the wurms' are the PH mob for two named spawns. One of these is Nezekezena. She was dark blue to me at 55, and looked like the wurms we spent killing for the previous 45 to 60 minutes.

We killed lots of mobs to start the cycle, I mean trains of mobs, but that may or may not be nessesary as once the wurms start to apper you might not need to keep that up. Main idea is that the wurms need to have a chance to pop so you can kill them and give the named a % chance to spawn. Easy enough good hunting

The point of the see invis check is this: if Nezekezena is 51, she can see invis. She can also gate and summon at 51. If you're lucky and you get one that doesn't see invis, she won't be able to summon or gate. Being a wizzy she probably ran herself OOM nuking you/pet and couldn't.

I didn't test the 'see invis' side of things and she didn't gate, but she did summon me (55 mage) and my pet repeatedly. The bad side of the pet being summoned was that my pet heal spells are such short range that I had to cast them from within her melee range, so I got beat on while giving my pet a little shot in the arm.

I beat her but it cost me one pet and my entire mana pool. She was very resistant to my fire spells, but I had little trouble landing Wrath of the Elements and Rain of Swords. She ran (lumbered slowly?) at 10% health and I sicced an air pet on her to finish her off.

Tough fight for a couple Phosporous Powders.

2 possible spawn cycles

Well, I worked on this off and on all week, and yesterday finally got my embers.

What I want to let people know is there are 2 cycles, now that can spawn Neze. A couple days ago, killing wandering mobs near his spawn point, I got Phurz to spawn in the northeast corner of the zone. I killed him then killed the first mob up on track many times, getting Gylton and Entalon also on that day.

Yesterday I got the correct spawn cycle going, killing the placeholders that spawned on -450, -2500. Also killing anything that wandered through and smacked me. I got a Neze on track in the northeast corner. I logged on a friend's ranger to keep an eye on the cycle I was working (he hasn't put any points into tracking mastery, and didn't have Neze up), and I ran and killed that Neze.

I don't know if Neze will spawn at both points at the same time, or not, but I wanted to cover my bases.

Bards, that spawn point is definately the way to go. I saw more red wurm guts than I ever care to again. The mage drop is very rare in comparison.

There was a server patch yesterday, so I decided to go mob hunting for my unfinished Bard epic. As mentioned before, I went to the location of about -450 -2550, to try and spawn Nezekezena. Luckily, when I looked on track, she was up. I borrowed a friends 70 druid to take her down. She is resistant to fire, has at least 20k HPs, bashes and stuns a lot and loves to summon you. Also, if you don't clear the camp, note that every mob will come to lay the beat down on you as soon as invis drops... Thankfully, the druid had plenty of mana and was able to nuke Nezekezena into submission and port us out before we got overrun by mobs.

Oddly enough, not only was Nezekezena up, but Entalon and Phurzikon were up as well. The server patch from yesterday may have caused them all to spawn.

Good Luck Killing it.

ok i have figured out Nezekazna's spawn cycle. camped him last night with tow guildies. he spawns at loc -419, -2542 and is the place holder for Phurzikon. here are the confirmed place holders for him:

a scoriae hornet
an ember hornet
a sarnak zealot
a sarnak champion
greater plague skeleton
wurm(the higher level wurms. they con DB to me at 55)

basically just sit there and kill any of the above and 90 sec. later another will pop up. kill that and in no time Nezek and Phur will show up. Good Luck to all.

Yes, this is the right place, but took me and a group to kill somewhere between 70 and 100 mobs before he spawned even once. Luckily I was only looking for guts.

Confirmed this is the right place to go if you're hunting the burning embers or this wurm in particular.

Just kill everything in sight around this /loc and the named wurms will spawn very soon.

As a 56 and then 57 mage I've soloed the -470, -2550 spawn spot a few times. I have noticed that at those levels most wandering mobs con light blue, but most of the mobs that spawn in the cycle are dark blue.

Note that I say most mobs, because there are exceptions.

So, if you're lucky enough to have a tracker of the right level you might save yourself a few minutes by picking on any nearby dark blue mobs first to get the cycle going.

I've soloed Nez twice. At 56 with the 53 Air pet, and at 57 with the 57 Earth pet. Both were tough fights that I only just survived. Dropped the Red Wurm Gut both times but no Burning Embers. Phurzikon is much easier, and Gylton even easier still.

If you're forced to solo, and you don't mind taking a long, long time then Gylton is much easier on the nerves. =)

Just passin it along.....I hunted these embers as my last epic item. Soloing Phur at 57 wasnt too bad, but had to box my chanter for CC. You will get adds, unless you plan to pull each mob to the hill that surrounds Silix. That seems to be pretty safe up there.

I had 6 different groups and about 10 solos there before I got the embers.

Took me 2 weeks, 30 named kills (Nez & Phur)to get embers.

I had nights where we couldnt even get the spawn started, in this case go do something productive.
You should be able to get the spawn going in about 20 min of killin every 'CLOSE' wondering mob to the spawn loc.

I'd like to shout @ Kroxim, Tenlayen, and Katonix/Sylann. Thanks for helpin wit dis one guys!

Also, All in all I probably killed 12 Nez's and 18 Phurs. I got my embers off of Phur and 20 min later Kroxim got his embers off another Phur.

Hope this helps with you upcoming Mages

not a hard camp, you can either slaughter, or HS... or if you have a group, both.
I did this earlier with a 51 bard(for him) some mid 40's BL, and a druid of some lower level as well, i started by HSing everything in sight, while the bard and druid/BL killed and watched. We got lucky after half an hour and phurzikon or whoever popped. 3-5 spawns after kill with no guts, Nezekezena spawned, whle i was afk, and started eating the group, i noticed in time and joined in, it was a VERY easy kill, which i could solo as a 65bard(200aa), very easily with chants, not many hp at all, diddnt evne need a pet.
Nez dropped guts, no mage piece.
Very Soloable

Once I finally got the spawn cycle started I saw this guy a lot, for my magician epic. I am a level 65 Magician, so I dont know how helpful my input will be for the lower levels needing his Burning Embers, but here is what I know about how difficult he is.

He hits for NO more than what the other "wurms" in the area hit for. 70-150 hp. Yes, he does summon, but he hits for so little and so slowly, that its barely an issue. With my 61 air pets taunt, he forgets about me as soon as im out of his range again. Not sure on his exact HP but it seemed to be somewhere around 10-15k. I used my 61 air pet to kill him, focused with a Diamond Prism of Companionship, and he never once needed a heal, let alone drop below 50 health. He does gate, but if you're using the air pet like I did, the stuns are more than covered. Here is the strategy I used to solo him.

Send in 61 Air pet.
Let pet beat him down to 80
Cast Black Steel (Sun Vortex is fire, too resistable by the wurms)
Continue casting black steel till he was at 30 and save it till he was at 15
once it was at 15, burn him down to avoid him gating.

He never did manage to gate, tho he tried with all his might :P. So I'm not sure where he would gate to...

Hope this info helps someone... GL

Hehe,
just got done killing both nezekezena and phurzikon in less then 30 minutes.Went to the same camp spot listed in other posts and within 5 minutes i saw phurzikon up.Kelled him and had mage with me for grins(he didnt think he would spawn).at any rate mage was pissed cause he didnt drop the epic piece for him.anyway not about 15 minutes laster i had nezzy on track as well.Took him down-little bit tougher fight becuase he gated on me.Had bard mem bruscos boastful bellow and took nezzy on again.this time he did not gate as my bard was interuppting him with bellow.Got my epic drop from nezzy and all is well.Going to Skyfire now to take on eldrig.

Hello,
I was wondering what the spawn /loc on this mob was...in one post it says -480, -2250...and another post says +470, -2550...any info would be appreciated...also some general directions on the area(i.e. near the Frontier Mountains zone? Chardok? Skyfire? Dreadlands? Mountain Giant fort? anything that would let me know I am in the correct place.) Thanks in advance for any info.

Sorry about the confusion. I corrected the first location # in my post to negative instead of positive.

My bad.

When in doubt, trust the majority of what you find - the loc is neg470 neg2550 8)
