His PH seem to be any of the Wyrvren on the upper cliffs. Both the East Edge and South Spur. He seems to be about a 20 minute respawn, and spawns everytime. Took him with a 71 Necro pet and a 70 Bst pet with out even breaking a sweat.. conned DG to both. I just killed all the mobs up there since the pets could take on 5 at a time with out breaking a sweat. The wyrvren didn't social to each other, but did to him. Words of Agony didn't drop in 5 kills, but the Drixie Remains dropped everytime.

I did that for a few mins and just ket redotting him when the fight was over i still had over 60m left

Ok this is a 55 druid that started kiting him at 52. once i figured out he couldn't be snared/rooted i ran to the beach with SoE (from a friend) and began to run him up and down the beach once OOM i realized he was at 19% of health and was med kiting till i got enough mana to DD his *** and began to run so i chased mana regaining and trying to hit him with my Soulstripper. Was not a good experience got to 50% of health after 4 hits and began to kite him. That was my experience with this guy. And yes he is VERY UNDERCONED

Yvolcarn is one of those mobs who reminds you of just what "undercon" means. I have seen him slay level 65 melee classes on more than one occasion (due to ignorance and overconfidense on the part of the player). Be careful around him... especially if your faction is bad.

Being a warrior class mob, he dual wields and double attacks VERY RAPIDLY for roughly 140~ish dmg per hit... so in a "round" of battle, you can get hit for anything up to nearly 600 (total) by this guy. Yvolcarn has humbled many a high lvl player who made the mistake of saying "bah, he cons DB to me." The speed of his melee strikes makes one think that he must be hasted, but all wyverns simply hit very, very fast. Definitely not to be underestimated... which is why melee types do not typically hunt in Cobalt Scar... these mobs are best kited from a distance by casters.

He can not be snared or rooted, but can be slowed. He does not have any resistance to speak of against fire-based nukes, but is enormously resistant to cold-based ones (same as all wyverns). He can easily be outrun using Run 3 or a SOW or J-Boots or whatever.

NOTE: If you kill him, or assist in killing him, you will take a small (but significant) negative faction hit with CoV. Yvolcarn is one of only 3 mobs in Cobalt Scar who will give you such a negative hit for killing them. Normal wyverns and drakes will not... although they are on CoV faction, and will respond to your standing with CoV accordingly.

Regardless of your CoV faction standing, Yvolcarn will attack you if he sees you pulling any of his dragon kin. His aggro range is medium... call it 50 paces or so. Once he is on your ttrail, he will not stop until you, or he, is dead.

Wizards (who are often found quad kiting in Cobalt Scar) can dispatch of Yvolcarn efficiently by memming 2 stuns (Markar's Discord and such), and a big fat fire nuke (Sunstrike works wonderfully). Get a good running lead on him, and then stun, nuke, and run again until you have enough space to repeat the process. Not positive about his total HP's... my guess would be roughly 12K or so.

Again, it is best to simply avoid Yvolcarn and Azureake. Neither of them drop anything that is really noteworthy, but both can be quite a handfull to deal with, and both will hurt your CoV faction somewhat.

Whatever you do,dont get too close when pulling wyverns by this guy. He aggroed me and I got killed. Tried to root him,but he is immune to speed changes. I probably could have escaped if I had gate or a port loaded. Didn't think he'd aggro me since he "reguards me as an ally". Yeah...some ally he is.

I just took down Yvolcarn a bit ago. I got to close to him, (unintentionally of course). I was feeling brave after just taking down Azureake so this 54 druid went for it. I had C3 and Hov. Used Form of the Howler and Levi. I used Winged Death, Breath of Ro and Drifting Death on him and snuck in a blast of scoriae. He hit me a bunch of times but I only got down to 50% life and I was able to heal myself. At 10% of life he took off down the cliff and I shot a lightening blast at him which finished him off. Not so bad after all. It took about 5 mins to kill him off. He dropped a gem, words, bixie remains and another item which I cannot recall right now and some pp. Hope this helps.

me (52nd halfing backstabber) and a 52nd De SK the sk darknessed him and we fear kited him. he's rather easy this way. We had several adds and we still did fine. He drops absolutely nothing and as we found is a waste of time because we could kill 3 normal Wyverns for the same amount of time and a lot more xp. so hope that helps.

Ok, I don't know what you attacked, but it certainly wasn't Yvolcarn considering he is IMMUNE to movement rate effects, thus cannot be "darknessed". Have killed him several times, drops words for 50+ spells (In this case Words of Agony to be specific), the odd Velious gem, drixie meat or something like that and some spare change. Perhaps you are confused with normal Wyverns lol

Darkness has more then one effect. Perhapse the DOT portion landed and not the speed - since he mentioned adds? I was reading through all this and CS sounds more like a necro zone honestly. No animals to charm, no snares, no roots.... All be it druids are usually killing icegiants and uthorks, (building faction with otter men and wyverns alike). It still seems a necro would rock this zone. including a pet and so on against the charming mermaids.

PS sorry if anything is missed spelled

pss and he does not cast i know i don't like the one's that cast

I'm a 52 necro my first night in Cobalt Scar i was weary like i am in any new high level zones i go to. i began killing my first wyvern and over shot big time thinkin he was gonna be hard to kill. Once i got confidence up i'm killing 4-5 of these every 10 minutes Constantly. at 52 i get an orange every 3-4 hours. i had seen this Yvocarn dude a few times, each time i'm standing in range to cast that first spell someone tells me don't mess with him he'll kill you. Well i wasn't gonna accept that, just smoked his *** solo at 52. don't know what the drixie remains are for but i looted anyway. everyone in zone was watchin me embarass this dude, i loved every minute of it allthough i won't kill him again cause that faction hit is Nasty...

After our fist try i go OOM (was 60 to start with) and he was STILL 70% HP ... hummm not good had enough for one FD then SOW goes and CHLORO and ARCHSHIELD .... all in same time (Verant's way of pay back i guess, i like to blame em)
Guess who noticed too .... our little friend ... reagrooed ... so FD ... hummmmm FAILLLLLLLed ....
LOADING PLEASE WAIT ...
NOW second time was more smart about it ... buff up and corpse rush him ... hehehe that's what it felt like :) anyhow after 45 minute of her using her FIRE debuff and me putting these DoTs on:

the purpose of this mob is to...hit him with a spell that does no dmg, but aggroes him.

drag him to a greedy quadding dr00d who pissed you off by running his quad over you when you were medding

then FD and let the druid play with an unsnared level 52 mob along with his quad

mayhaps you shouldnt sit in the middle of the ground where everybody pulls past, then ***** that you were killed by getting aggro while you were medding and not paying attention. its your own fault that you havent worked on cov faction. is morons like these that ruin the game.

Haha. I don't think the guy would be complaining if he really WAS sitting out in the middle of nowhere, but he probably wasn't.

I have quads of seafuries pulled on me all the time by stupid druids, and I sit way on the shore to med. Not up halfway between the hill and the shore where they are supposed to kite. I've seen one head right to me with his kite only to have each one of them hit me at least once. Thats like half my hp right there.

Nay, its not people like him that ruin the game, its rude, arrogant, greedy, KSing druids that ruin the game.

I also agree that kiters ruin the game for everyone. That being said, i leveled two druids from 40s to mid 50s just from quad kiting. But, i was good at it. I never trained anyone, and at low health i got all four mobs to stand still at the same time, every time. Snared mobs stop at low health. If you can't control your mobs or get all four to stop at the same time with an AE nuke, then you should not be quad kiting.

Also, It's not greedy for a druid to quad kite, its normal hunting. Consider that in the time it takes for a druid to kill 4, a necro can easily kill the same number.

Just yesterday an out of control druid trained four mobs directly over my group. The druid had not even fully gained agro before training the mobs, so they all turned on us.

But, kiting bards are the worst of all. A bard trying to kill every hill giant in Raithe mountains all at once is a truely ugly sight to see.

Anyway, just avoid the named mobs in CS like Yvolcarn. Just keep casting memory blur (or zone) until he goes away. The faction hit isn't worth it.

Gotta totally agree with you man. Druids are real irresponsible about quadding. Me being a wizard, I have to show everyone on my server we can quad responsibly. =) Not to say all druids are bad, but they seem to have a lot of people who just can't get the other person's point of view.

Also though, I have to say I often quad on the beach to avoid any adds and/or falling damage. The trick is to watch out for people medding =).

Posting in hopes it helps someone out. If you aggro Yvolcarn and don't intend on killing him, then try doing what I do, it may not be the best way, but it's worked ok so far. Pulled a wyvern and forgot to harmony yvolcarn once, so here he comes, I had lev on so I ran straight off cliff (not the side with othmir camps) and out over the water. While running with numberlock on I ooc that I had aggro yvolcarn and to watch out, then I evac'ed to clear the aggro. Doing it this way he is in ocean when you leave and will normally go back to spawn point when you port out. oocing that is aggro just lets peeps know to be extra careful for a bit in case he wanders. Then when I port back I go check if he has retuned and ooc again that he is back in place again and not roaming around being a pain.
hehe then I get a tell from a wiz thanking me for snaring those 4 mobs that he quaded while I had ported out and back in. hehe oh well at least some good came of it )

Just took him down with a 53 Warrior and a 54 Shaman. Slow and Cripple landed first try. I dotted him 3 times with Ebolt during the battle. If it weren't for KEI, Yvolcarn would have narrowly escaped. He hit my warrior for a max of 145 and min of 44. With 1000+ ac he didn't hit for max often and most hits were in the lower half of that range.
