I just killed an Elite in Iceclad, one of the bridge guards, & looted a Ring of Frost from it. I see someone else has posted this, but it's not been updated, so, just a little confirmation =)

Found behind the Ice Giant fort. Root holds most of the times but not too difficult for a 55 Druid to solo.

Oddly, I had a "frost giant scout beard" drop off a Frost Giant Elite in Iceclad this morning. It is a Magic/Lore/No Drop item, reads "ALL/ALL" and weights .5 ... anyone have a clue what this thing is for?
It says there are no faction hits with these giants in Iceclad Ocean, above. They in fact do have faction hits like the others giants, FYI. At least it says they do when i kill em. :P
As a level 37 shaman, I fought 3 of these things in GD with a good group of guildies and didnt find these things too bad. Every one of the spells I cast stuck which included Tagars Insects and Envenomed Breath (DoT).
Although the pets took a beating, we got agrod by 1 just as we were killing the first and still managed to beat it. Lotta mana used up with heals but the Slows (Tagars) definately helps and seems to stick well.

According to my log parser, the Elites in GD have about 7.5k hp. Our 3 man group of 54sk (me), 49dru and 46rng was able to do a combination of fearkiting and standard tanking to kill them off. The druid would cast ensnare and i would fear it 1 or 2 times, while i and the ranger was whacking the poor sod down.
I soloed a Frost Giant Elite that conned yellow to me on the Iceclad side of the Great Span. I played it safe and LOHd when I got near 1 bub cause he started hitting hard, and ended up with 3/4 HP intact. Used root and healing and to some effect. Was wielding a Massive Dragonclaw Shard. The other Giant at front of bridge was red and didn't react to my pull of the yellow via root. Although he resisted root, with SoW I had plenty of time to get near top of span for the fight. It was kind of epic going toe to toe with a giant atop the span ;)

Quading: First I go round up 3 Bezerkers and 1 elite. hit them with Lighting Blast untill the Bezerkers are dead. Then you should have about 50m left (my wis 200) Root and drop immolate and Drifting Death. and med... once those have dropped I snare, Immolate and use my ES Vambraces to finish him off, Im back to 80m time again for another quad...
I looted a magic item (ranged) called a snowball. What on earth is it for ? Only found one in about 6 yellows of bridge Elites.
(btw, the level cap on those seems to be 36, I solo'd them the last 2 yellows of 36, and found 2 whites, and have found no whites in 4.5 bubbles of 37 so far)
(and how is a 36th wiz soloing these ? Koadic's Endless Intellect....no crack like the ultra-crack....)
i know a 36 lvl wizard can do it cuz my 34th lvl wizard is doing it. with out kei (although kei makes it really easy) i use okail's levity and sow. pull with the staff of temperal flux to lower fire resistance. run root, BoF, kite until mana is low, root med, when root breaks stand and root again. eventually (and it does take a long time) he'll go down. ive easily taken down yellows like this.

This was from one of the elites in GD. They are about ten levels higher than the ones in IC and con me dark blue at 51. Be very careful with them.
P.S. The reason most of the damage shows up in one second about 9 seconds after the first hit is because I started going LD when it hit me and didn't come back until 9 seconds later, upon which time I received all the damage messages for the past nice seconds together.
As a 51 warrior with 980 buffed AC (only a 34 shammy as backup) the GD version of these guys were hitting me for max of 128. They also hit me 55 - 60 % of the time. Dk blue con, I was unable to land any spells with the shammy, including magic based slows/malo and disease based nuke/dot. Not for kids!
I would like to confirm that these are much larger than than the IC elites. As a 54 wizard i round up 4 of these with staff of temperate flux. Atols Spectral shackles did not always get all 4...few resists. However using Pillar of Lightning to quad kite these (828 damage for 364 mana) i would use approximately 90-95% of my mana taking these down with an Itelligence of 221. Definately around 7.5-8k hps and hit hard when they get a chance.

The version of these in GD is much harder to kill I tried to killing one as a 49 necro had best pet(hits for 55) cast cascading darkness vos aystole bod and fear it lived through all the dots plus i nuked it 3 times with ignite bones and it was still alive though just barely and my pet was able to finish it off, dropped a few pp yay!
I've heard these bad daddies process a nasty aoe when you pull their fingers called Winds Of the Kromrif. Can anyone confirm this? It is said to be poisen based and read something like you double over in agony, Winds Of The Kromrif smother you. You turn green
Just solo'd one at the dragon bridge between ew and ic. The ones on ic side are a piece of cake but suck up the mana.
Resisted bonds of force twice but once it stuck he was toast. 5 x Conflgration for 3030 and one lightening shock to finish him off for another 404. He did pop back to his spawn point too btw.
My guess is that one was about 3200 hp. Burned about 4 bars of mana.
I tried to solo one in GD. After taking it down below half health I ran to zone but it got nabbed when i was out of range by a friend hunting Scouts and elites at the fort. The only problems I would have with the thing are 1 Getting snare to stick 2 It is not that it has a HUGE amount of exp but the rate at which it regenerates. Running from it (towards EW)and leaving it on the west side of the fort it was at 1/4 of its life. By time my friend caught it on the east side of the fort it was barely over half health. It was slowed a bit by the snare but The next tiem I actually fought one I watched its health rise back up at about the same speed my mana does with clarity II Aslynn 48 wizzie BB
I am a wizzy. I soloed one of theese at 39, bridge in Ic...it used all my mana but I rooted it medded bit one more nuke and it was dead... I mean ye it used a lot of mana but I didnt get hit once...and XP was decent tooo.
I too hunted the frost giant elites in IC for a while. Just remember that the frost giant elites in the GD are a lot tougher than the ones in IC. The ones in the GD have a bunch more hp's and hit slightly harder too.
I'm a lvl 47 druid and I found a neat trick for soloing these guys. Drag them through a few coldain dwarves. Let them follow along for a bit , knocking the giants hp's down then back off before the do too much damage. The elites can do them in pretty quick and you get your giant back minus some hp.
They have been buffed lately, they have more HPs now!!! and hit harder!!! Seen hits as high as 140!!! and as much as 8K hps+!!!! do not and I mean DO NOT try to solo them, you will die!!!
Don't solo these guys in Great Divide unless you have KEI,a T-staff, ES Vambs' or Lumi. OR can do some massive dmg fast and cheap! Took one down and calculated he had over 8400HPs Thank Karana for the 2 wolfs and 1 dwarf that helped me :)
Solo'd one last night in GD. Using Root and Rot with ES Vambraces. Funny thing is that he was one of the 4 that I was quadding. (Doh! How did he get in there!) So at the end of the quad with this guy still attacking and I'm at 40% mana, I definitely needed those ES Vams.
I solo the elites in GD at lvl 53 ( not bad exp). pull with your lvl 1 lifesucker, run to pet, cast darkness, cast splurt, fear, ebolt and ignite blood ( plague gets resisted half the time and thus a waste of mana). Jboots or sow potions are a must or the elite will pound you to death before you reach your pet. Always have shield of magi up and always use splurt after darkness ( the 110 from the ebolt will make elite agro on YOU and therefore a pain in the neck to get it off you butt).
Playing as a 53rd necro myself, I'd advise you pull with splurt instead of your lvl 1 lifetap. Splurt takes a long time to be affective and has no agro. I always pull with splurt when soloing in skyfire or GD and my pet takes the mob off me easily everytime.
Im a level 40 druid took 1 of these out but took all my mana and about 10min. XP not that good, neither was loot. The 1 thing weired was that mine ported to its spawn spot, not sure if this was a bug but Iwas really pissed when after 8 min it dissapeared on me. Fortunately I foud his almost dead, snared body back where I got him from and was able to finnish him off.
The iceclad bridge elites are an easy kill for a 42 necro. I pull with dark, send pet and fear, put on scourge and VoS, usually tap once and renew fear once, for a total mana cost of 839 on the kill. That's if there are no resists. I get one resist about as often as not, two over the course of a fight fairly often, and fear often has to be renewed an extra time, for a total cost around 1100 mana.
I have also noted this popping back to the spawn point. I was rooting and rotting them, and when they were at sufficiently low HPs (to where they would turn and run but couldn't) they would pop back to the bridge. I had one below this point and he didn't return to the spawn point until the root I had on it wore off. Its VERY annoying.
I've noticed though that sometimes at least, if you are close to them when they start running, they won't warp. It seems they mostly warp if you don't realize you've started them running, and you move out of a certain range from them.
Just to be on the safe side, I kite them in circles and try to arrange to be heading back to the bridge when they're at about 25% hp.
Decent xp, easy for 39 or above PATIENT druid to solo...also drops ring of frost occasionally , +3 int + 10 mana ring, as well as frozen mantle on occasion. But melee, beware..these guys hit hard. Partnered with a level 50 pally and it took more mana to heal him than it would have to solo the elite.
You can still kite with a melee partner. Just have your pally friend run after the giant whacking it from behind NOT taunting, and using a slow 2h weapon (for reduced taunt factor), while you keep aggro on yourself by dotting and blowing up the giant and running away. Kinda like pet kiting.
ROFL... I feel the same way about meat shields! ...Just kidding. The ones that don't think they should loot every kill are alright.
I like helping a druid kite; Turn off pet taunt. Druid pulls, snares, and nukes to get a good agro on. I debuff, sick pet, DOT and nuke, while druid kites in a large circle around me, while my pet wacks the things in the back of the head... single reds very easy for Druid/Nec combo outside.
We're 30 and 32nd and doing this in EW, but we have not had the guts to try a giant yet. I think it would be close, but we would run OOM before done.
So far these guys have all been blue to me. From what I understand they are a true under-con. However, I am able to take both of them out solo as a Level 40 enchanter via Charm. So I am sure with a little bit of work you other classes should NOT need a full group of 30-42's to kill these MOB's. A little bit of planning and strategy and just about any class should be able to solo them. PS: they make great pets especially when hasted as I can kill 4 Frost Giant Scouts plus a Dire wolf or two with just one of these guys before I am oom and my pet is near dead. -GL to all
=P not any class, all you all warriors out there will get smacked by these boys- 42 pally friend (now 51) had to LoH and still zone Casters though, have fun (in fact my friend found he could if he medded before the fight for a root/heal, although it took him almost 8 minutes to finally kill the dang thing) I'm a 40 mage and I can solo one easy... downtime is a pain, I loose a pet per fight and usually have to whack it to death with my torch (I've had my best sucess w/ fire pets) but resistances are really low. 3/4 a blue bub per kill at 39, 7gp-6pp loot, haven't gotten any other loot yet, but it's still a nice exchange for 52cp of malachite. Mages use lev rings and bolts. Fire and earth work best, although root can be very counter-productive in some fights. 4-5 333damage bolts+ pet, so I'd guess around 2k hp's at least
Note: this is for the IceClad giants only, do not try to solo the GD giants at level 40
Two Frost Giant Elites guard the bridge (zone) that leads to the Eastern Wastes. They are far enough apart that they could be pulled singly without the need for harmony etc. Spawn time was roughly 13 minutes. They were green and blue to a level 44, but all gave exp (guessing lvl 32-34). I was pulling to the sides of the bridge and was not aggroed by any wandering mobs so it seems like a relatively safe place to fight. Dropped up to 5p, velium weapons (rarely) and Frost Giant Scout Beard (Lore, magic, no drop).
Can't believe there are lvel 32s of this mob. They are all blue to me (51) and have incredible high hp (6k to 8k I think). Take quite a while with 2 ensnare cycles to finish one. If you only need xp by soloing, find Berserkers, don't bother the Elites.
These things are quite difficult to take down! A group of 4 (45 cleric, 44 paladin, 44 ranger, 40 druid) had a devil of a time with one (blue at 44) last night. It hit for 126 a pop. The cleric and druid went OOM, and the paladin had to use his LoH on the ranger. We finally prevailed though.
Yes, we decided to stick with scouts and berzerkers after that.
42 to 45 is probably more like it (some of them are yellow at 44). When we fought it last night, we figured it had at least 5K hit points, so the estimate of 6K to 8K is probably reasonable.
yeah well they con blue still at level 60 although some are green there are still some that are blue so their level range has got to be more then what is posted.
I have found that they do drop loot occasionally. Between the Velium weapons I just recently recieved a Frozen Mantle +10 mana. Not much for the level but any loot is better than none
