some general information regarding this mob ...

*he is located due north of the rygorr fort ... nearly touching the northernmost zoneline

*his placeholder mob is "kromriff prison guard" who is in a ruined building by himself, the PH are NOT the two "A kromriff prison gaurd"s that you may see protecting Corbin. took me approximately 4 (four) kills of the placeholder before the warden finally showed up

*he is VERY magic resistant ... took about 7 casts of ensnare from a 70druid until it passed the resist check. he resisted my magic based DoTs about half the time. he did not resist my fire based DoTs (ldon vengeance line)

*from the instant that i engaged this mob ... 4 (four) "Kromriff Gaurds" spawned and began to chase me relentlessly ... these gaurds were also fairly magic resistant; resisting snare/root. i am unsure if clearing the camp before engaging him will negate the said death squad but it's worth a try; the Kromriff Gaurd death squad is pretty annoying to deal with.

**strategy employed by a druid70 was a typical kite ... run like hell until all mobs are snared, continually apply DoTs, and root whenever possible

EDIT**Did this guy again and couldn't seem to avoid the Kromriff Gaurds from spawning ... PULL THE WARDEN FROM BEHIND THE RUINS and you may be able to avoid aggro from the gaurds; it worked for me last try. good luck!

hope this can be of some help. cheers!

Was playing around with the Coldain today and found this guy on my track. Decided I hate giants and I need CoV faction... best to kill him. Conned blue to my 55 Druid. I pulled him without messing with anyone else in the camp... just pulled from the side of the building.

So I just pulled with snare and had regrowth, SoE and Shield of thorns up. Resisted snare 3 times and root twice. Decided that dot kiting would be in order at this point. Was getting a bit low on health at the time. Was hitting me for max of 126 but generally 82.

So run run run dot run run run dot rinse repeat. Outran him no problem with SoE. Drifting Death was resisted every time so I gave up on it. Winged Death was resisted half the time. Breath of Ro wasn't resisted once. Took about 6 dots of damage to take him down.

This guy is cake as a 62 Ranger (18 aas, no defensive AA's)

simply camp his PH, when warden spawns shoot him from wherever ASAP, if you land the hit before his toadies spawn, he'll run towards you with no assistance..

i was 40% hasted with swiftwind and he took me to 60pct health before running.

very easy.

Obviously this strategy is biased towards rangers, but take what you can use from it.

The Heist:

Head to the steep slope on the east side of the Warden's building. Find the large crumbled opening in the side of the building. From a high elevation, you can look down and see Bruke inside. Cast or shoot from maximum range at this angle, then run in the opposite direction of the building (uphill) immediately when your attack lands. Bruke will call out the cavalry, but with you out of there so fast, they'll go back to eating giant frosted doughnuts and you'll have the Warden where you want him:alone and chasing you.

The Chase:

Kite Warden Bruke unless you want to get pummelled into the ice. As noted in other posts, he moves at run2 speed so keep a step or three up on him. Greater wolf form gave me plenty of lee way for fizzles, resists and and mistakes. Fire attacks are your best bet. Now when you're kiting, you have long stretches of unpopulated coastline to work with once you get away from the ulthorks around the prison. Either head west towards Captain Berradin's camp, or east toward Dobbin Crossaxe's huts.

The Ambush:

Now you pull out your secret Coldain Swarm Pet spell.... or something like that. Drag Bruke through the Coldain's campfire and get them seriously pissed. They'll beat on the Warden, but will quickly fall behind on those stubby little legs. Kite the Warden back and forth through the Coldain gang until he's taken 2 to 2 1/2 blues of health in damage, then high tail it out of there. Kite him WAY across the zone from the little fellas to finish him off, and they'll never catch up. As long as they do less than 50 percent of the damage that kills Bruke, you still get the loot and the experience when he goes down.

I'm a 59th Shammy, and was trying to get one more Ulthork Tusk to complete my set of 4 (didn't want to throw them away, and they were taking up room) and I decided to kill the good Warden. He conned DB to me, and I killed most of the camp around him first, including the ogre mercs. When the area immediately around him was clear, I tried to pull him with a Malosini. He resisted, I started walking backwards, cast again, didn't stick. Cast Turgur's, also resisted; my pet got the agro on the guards he summoned, and I took off. I only had RS 3 on, and he just barely fell off. He wasn't far behind me by the time I got to the GD zl. Guess I'll try kiting him with my pet after I buff the living daylights out of it, see if Tnarg's Mending can win the day for me.

Yes, that is indeed the place. The kromriff prison guard is the PH. I soloed this guy with my 48 bard. He has a high magic resist. The only thing I could get to stick on this guy was my chant of flame. He resist my disease, magic, and cold based dots. Also, if he spawns pull him from behind the building or 4 more giants spawn and come after you. But, if you are able to pull him thru the back wall you can get him solo.

Soloed with my 41 bard about 5 minutes ago, took at least a half hour, only song I was able to stick on him was Chant of Flame, but it was enough... all it took was running around and around and around and around and around in circles, now I'm dizzy ;)

I would've tried charming rhinos to send at him, but I'd already died to him twice and was bordering on another un-ding, so I decided to play it safe. Besides, I want a full mana pool for tomorrow's charmkiting :)

Dropped a Kromrif Head, Shackle Key and Frost Giant Femur (interesting concept in itself, did I take his leg or was he carrying it around with him? If the first, then what do other FG body parts proc? Time for an EQ Anatomy lesson :D)

As for the spawn rate, I'm guessing there's a placeholder, just kill the FG that spawns where he normally does, in the ruin in the North East corner of the prison camp. I killed the giant (Kromrif Prison Guard? I can't remember), and the Warden spawned a few minutes later. Anybody else confirm this is how to spawn him? It worked for me, but I only tried it once, might've been a fluke.

Yes, he's just a rare spawn from that particular PH. That entire area has a nice, slow respawn rate, save his PH (a blessing, that...made this camp easy the other night)...simple enough to spawn him, take a good, long step back, and pull from a distance - the guards he spawns when aggro'd appear in front of him, outside of his little cubbie hole...they strolled on inside to where he stands while he ran up to deal with me alone. Silly creature. ;)

I have successfully pulled and killed him a few times... He is a tough customer!! The only way that I have been able to take him is to first clear the camp and then cast Drifting Death and run as fast as possible in Greater Wolf form. When the DoT fades I recast and run again... He will eventually gate back to the camp but will still have low heatlth.... just do the dot and run trick on him again... Good luck

I tried to solo this guy as a lvl 48 bard, I killed the giant mobs in this area first and tried chant kite him. He resisted all my DoT songs : chant of flame, fulfill, chant of disease ... Fortunately,
I run faster than him and he didn't call his guards. I ran to zone and escaped.
Maybe I should try to charm other mobs against him first next time......

Interesting fight

Well, last night myself (38 druid) and my friend (40 ranger) tried to kill the Warden. Yeah, yeah, I know...Delusions of Grandeur. A 44 wizard also joined in during the fight. First the good news...we almost had him. Got him to about half a bubble of life (after a good 20-30 minutes of him chasing me, Imolated and with Drones of Doom (Immolate landed far more often than Drones did) and with the ranger choping him up as I ran). The wizard mentioned his spells were being resisted, so I'm not sure how much damage he did actually inflict. Now the bad news...at half a bubble, he disappeared and wound up back in the camp (I hate when critters do that!! ARGH!!) And NOW, the worse news...he began spamming the area with GUARDS ASSIST ME! The ranger was the lucky one to be chased so he made for the zone. On my tracking screen I counted (no exageration) 86 Kromrif Guards. Needless to say, I ported out of there.

I'm not sure how we are going to be able to get this guy (well, other than waiting a few more levels or grabbing a couple more people). In our revenge we killed Ekelng Thunderstone. That made us feel a little better.

I soloed him today. Started by charming that little dwarf in the interrogator hut, gave him two weapons, and celerity. then i pulled yon warden out the back of his hut, no adds. i had sow on, and i just kept leading the warden through my attacking dwarf pet until the pet had aggro. then i went to select my next pet for when the warden killed the dwarf. sent in a frost giant next, and once he had the aggro, celerity'ed him and went for the next. luckily, one of the kromrif prison guards was missing, so i charmed the other and he finished our friend the warden. admittedly, i was using sow potions, but the warden only did a total of about 160 damage to me. give it a try, charm soloing can be an effective killing technique, and it's a real fast way to get (and lose, sometimes) experience.

I was hunting Frostys when i hear someone yelling for help between the Warden calling for help. I turned arround just in time to camo myself. I watched 25 yes 25 guards run past me plus the Warden. The guards conned red to me 47 Druid. So i think the latest patch may have had a nice impact on this MOB.

Was camping the fort or prison or whatever it is, just pulling the Kromrif Prison Guard, the Frost Giants, and the Ogre Mercenaries with a high 40s Druid, two high 40s Shamans(with pets), and a mid 40s Cleric. We were having absolutely no problems. The Warden popped where the Kromrif Prison Guard was spawned. I pulled him with Incapacitate(so the pets would be able to pull agro without too much trouble), and he resisted. Then he called the other guards for help. That's when I said, "Uh oh." Fortunately, there was only one guard in the camp...a Kromrif Guard. Well, these two resisted everything but Fire- and Poison-based spells. While the Cleric was trying to keep the pets alive, I told everyone to bust out with the luggage, and put on their running shoes, because these two giants were gonna send us packin'!

Sure enough, as soon as the pets were dead, our health bars were dropping faster than Enron stock. We got no jump on them, but slowly put some distance between us as we headed for the zone. As we were running, a miracle from on-high came down as the Druid was able to Root the Warden. With slivers of mana left and not much more health, the Cleric and one Shaman gated out as the Druid and other Shaman bolted for the zone. That's all I have to say about that.

Good freakin' luck.
Warden Bruke's Guards
# Jul 20 2002 at 11:45 AM Rating: Decent
Me and a friend tried to pull him just to see how tough we really was. We were in wolf form and ready to zone or gate of if need be. When she pulled Warden Bruke all the giants in the camp TL'd to her location and gave her a rough beating. I was able to zone to the bridge only because I was in wolf form and because I got a jump on them. His guards also seem to run with a high level sow and almost caught me even with the wolf form. Be aware that this is a very tough mob to hunt without a good solid group. It would also be advisable to kill his guards one at a time before you take him on. Good luck to all of you who try.

After the patch on May8/02 This guy has had a significant upgrade.

His minimum level is at least 45 from what I tell.
80% of the time he cons blue to a lvl 60. So Im guessing 45-48?

He is also highly Magic Resistant. Snaring and Rooting are totally out of the question. I used an entire mana bar and every attempt was resisted.

His Atk appears to be raised as well. This may be due to his lvl increase, but I can honestly say he is no longer melee soloable by a Ranger.

His hits are from 25 - 120 or so on me. They were much lower before patch. I think his highest used to be around 90 or so.

Just a word of warning if anyone expects to walk in and kite him for another key.

That's not correct, he runs at a speed slightly below that of jboots or advanced runspeed 3. I pulled him across half the zone yesterday and I only had runspeed 3 and I got away from him VERY slowly. With SOW he would have caught up to me in a second.

SoW, at least a high level SoW, is faster than Run Speed 3. If you had SoW, you would of pulled away much faster.

Bard solo at 44
# Feb 18 2002 at 1:33 PM Rating: Decent
A bit time consuming, but it can be done with mega-xp as well. I solo'd him yesterday with out too much dificulty. The first 2 attempts to pull him resulted in about 4 Kromrif prison guards spawning right beside me, I trained them to the coldain camp and watched the fight. On the third attempt, only 1 prison guard popped so I brought them up to the Ulthork area, someone else tagged the guard and left me with the Warden. Now with him in tow, my job was to keep charming rhinos, or ulthork warriors to attack him. Usually after 2 charms (18 sec duration) the rhino/warrior would be left with a sliver of health which makes for an easy dot kite to finish off the ex pet with full xp given. You gotta time it right though, if after the first charm round, your pet is left with less than 50% health you need to wait 6 seconds or so after re-charming before giving the attack command (trial and error will make this apparent to you). After about 20 to 35 mins of this, I had gotten quite a big of xp from killing all my ex pets, plus the Warden was left at that magical level of healh where they start to run away in which case, just snare (to keep him in one place), break out your weapons and finish him off.

Important: There is a bug which exists in many zones where a mob will pop back to it's spawn point when it's low on health. This only happens if the attacker is standing too far away from it. If you're close by when it gets to that level of health where it starts to run you won't have to worry about this. Some people refer to it as gating although this is technically incorrect as the mob does not cast the gate spell. This happens quite often to those of us who quad kite and sometimes can't stay near a mob who is low on health as we've got a few other baddies chasing us. Again, with a bit of practise you can easily avoid this ever happening to you. If you're a bard, and the Warden is 'running' away and you've still got an ex pet to finish off, just dot kite the pet and make sure that you run circles around the Warden, this will keep him from popping back to his spawn point.

Another suggestion, since this can take up to half an hour, and all you bards out there know how hard it is to type messages while running, twisting, keeping an eye on the mobs, etc. Throw up your afk tag.

I tried to solo it with 2 different chars.
First was my Shm 60, the mob resisted all my slow, dots (Poison, Disease and FA), had to gate.
Tried again but with my (well equiped) Monk 53 with a 27 DS potion on her. Only took 60% of its health, had to FD to lost aggro ..... but I tried with a friend Paly with my Shm and we roxxed him so fast lol.

target him and run behind the building he sits in. Cast your favorite aggro spell which causes him to come at you through the back wall. Ive done this numerous times and have never triggered the spawns.
