Just wondered if anyone else has noticed Haze panthers Gating? Everytime I find one and attack they disappear by gating, they like to come back but soon as they get close or one hit they gate again.

THis btw is on Progression server
Thanks

Yes, they gate every 5-10 seconds or so, whether they're damaged or not.

This started only after the large patch for The Serpent's Spine that included the new regen system. Before that they did not gate at all, as far as I know.

Velium hounds in Western Wastes also chain cast some spell that seems to do absolutely nothing, and they never cast spells before the patch.

About the only way to kill haze panthers now is track them to their spawn point and kill them there, making sure to nuke them down from 33% before they can gate again and regenerate. :P

I believe it is a bug, and I have /bugged it. Perhaps you ought to as well. :)

I just finished hunting in wakening lands for these mobs. First of all, you need a tracker. Then you need see invis. I cast invis on myself and my tracker. We killed regular panthers who aggroed on me as soon as I cast. They hit for 60 to 80 no big deal. The haze panthers seem to be on same paths, so regular panthers might be ph'ers. I killed two in two hours got my haze panther eye and left. It dropped on second one. No skins, and only one eye on either. Easy kill for me, 65 wiz. My tracker was 46 druid and he had a little problem when he was kiting one with the adds as everything is kos it seems. Just track with invis up and expect adds when you appear. East of lake is main area for them. Good luck, not a fun camp.

Hmm, I just mapped WL for myself and after slaying a few dozen regular panthers, avoiding the the static mist panther and the wandering Frost Giant priests I have yet to see a single haze panther.

Any other taoilor / tinkerer providers notice the diminishing population?

Hunting the Haze Panther

Well, I just wanted to chime in. I have been hunting the panthers and haze panthers lately. I find them mostly just east of the lake (west of Kael), as others have said. There are a couple of things I would point out.

1) Running around instead of staying in one place or something safer, I can often need to kill 4 or 5 adds by the time a fight is over. Soloing as a 57 beastlord, this can still get me a tad worried from time to time, so be very careful. The Haze Panthers are light blue to me... adds can be Holgresh + pet, Mercenaries, more panthers, AND this brings me to

2) Watch out for the freaking Corrupted Panther! I have seen him mostly along the south wall of the zone, however, I have seen him come very close to the southwest corner of the lake as well. I make a habit of always facing south when fighting near the lake to keep a lookout for this bad cat. He's 55 i think and he summons. So once you have agro, look forward to either dying quickly (my pet goes down fast, then me if I try to fight... last time i tried anyway)or, if you are fast, about 5 minutes of running thru the Wakening Lands being summoned by this panther, while he gradually slays you, one peice of your butt at a time. Plenty of time to think about how you wish you had been more careful before this guy dropped out of that tree in his path and into your lap.... Not fun. This guy has gotten me a couple of times in this zone, but only once by the lake as I am much more careful now (facing south) when fighting there, and in fact anywhere in the zone.

Otherwise Haze Panthers are LB to me and not so tough. As far as the drop rate, on Sunday 2/9/03 I guess i killed about 8 or 9 Haze Panthers and got 4 Haze Panther Skins and 3 Haze Panther Eyes. This was being in the zone for many hours but also doing other things and running around a lot. Coming back to the lake area about 5 or 6 times i guess to hunt there til i was low on health and oom and buffs coming down. Maybe two Haze Panthers per visit to the area if i was lucky.

Good hunting,

I dont think i was clear at the beginning when i was taling about "running around". I dont mean that i run around and kie them or something, jsut that im not pulling to any particular safe spot.. I roam around til i find something to attack is all that i mean. The adds are roamers or pops that just happen upon me during my fight.

Also, I wear a see invis item so the fact that the Haze Panthers invis didnt occur to me. While your there there will be lots of regular panthers as well, also Holgresh and Merc's sometimes. They are still agro to me at 57. So anyway my point is that i wouldnt think you would want to do this without wearing see invis or your going to have See Invis drop and then not see the Haze Panther sneaking up on you during your battle with the three pissed off Black Panthers and the Troll Mercenary or whatever... Espcially if your doing this at closer to level 50, group or not. IMO.

They do cast invis on themsleves. Hit for around 100 give or take, about 2-3khp. Very social will aggro from a decent range. Kinda fast also. Since the resist changes, i didnt find em to be overly MR, but of course im tashing first too.

had one at a sliver of health when charm broke on suit of armour, as i was recharming i noticed the invis spell effects in background (from almost dead panther), lol. He thought he could invis and get away. He didnt.

Haze Panthers are an uncommon spawn at best. Even more uncommon is a haze panther skin off one. Some excellent armor is made from these skins, so would figure that the cost would be soley on how badly someone wanted haze panther skins.

However, I have seen folks auctioning to buy them for 500-1k each on CT server. But again, will vary.

Resists...
# Mar 26 2002 at 4:06 PM Rating: Default
I tried killing one last night. I was a lvl 45 wiz, it was blue, and I figured no problem. I tried to root it. No luck. I repeatedly had it resist root, until it finally stuck. By that time it had chewed threw my skins, and I was at half health. It then preceded to resist 4 snares, and then root broke. It then resisted several more roots, and killied me.

Anyone else experience resist problems with these things? That one must have had magic resists through the roof.

I've not tried to hunt these yet but I NEVER lead with root. Lead with snare and if it doesn't stick run a ways and THEN try to root.

Do you have JBoots? Did you have SoW?

When I've hunted in WL and had a bad pull I've often just run as far as I can (with TBoots) then gate out...after all you can port back in...and at your level you SHOULD be able to channel through a gate if you're getting beaten on.

Going to try them and let you know what happens.

ID Morons
# Dec 18 2001 at 10:10 AM Rating: Default
I don't know I think ID might work good soloing these if you have someone snareing them. I'm a 56 druid and I'm usually soloing these things but 5 days soloing them will drive anyone nuts so I met a 42 ranger and he was pulling panthers and haze panthers to us and we'd snare and fear kite them and we didn't get any adds. He'd get the exp and I'd get the skins. I don't have a monk so not sure how ID works but from what I've seen of it it works the same as fear. The only adds we got were the ones he came in with and then I'd charm one and use it as a pet for the fight. FYI dont charm the haze panthers the charm don't last long but panthers are quite cooperative. And if anyone wants to go off on me like I don't know what I'm talking about go ahead but I've done this myself and I wouldn't type it if I knew for a fact it couldn't be done. I'm collecting these skins and yew leaves and someone with a 220 tailoring skill is making me the haze panther pieces so far I have the tunic and cloak want to get full suit of it but I'll be happy with half of it this stuff is a pain in the arse to get. Only thing left to do after I get all this is make my rogue.

cheapest? not necessarilly, but you can buy mandrake roots (bout 3 plat each) and combine 2 at a time making woven mandrake root all the way to 66. Then you can take your woven mandrake root with a boning (made with smithing at some easy level) to make picnic baskets all the way to 76. All the parts are purchaseable, so if you want to cut down time and spend a little cash that'll get ya going. I found getting crystaline silks in CC faster than getting HQ cat pelts. you can duo these in late 30's or single em in your 40s. Spiders drop as many as 4 at a time, you can buy the silver thread in thurg for bout 2 plat a try. Again, a little more money - but a lot less time.

Take your level 50 Necromancer to Stonebrunt and farm the furs there, then take him/her to East Karana and hunt silks off of Crag and Carrion Spiders, kill the chasm crawlers as they are on the same spawn table as the spiders.

What is that, you dont have a level 50 necro?

Get one, it will be fastest and cheaper, trust me.

haze panthers. Hides not real common. Normally 3-4 haze panthers up at any one time. Panthers are placeholders. They invis themselves, need to cast invis to see/track. Is an area near the lake that can be pulled to safely with few if any adds. Seem to roam certain paths, is one path near one fo the suit spawn pull sights. Hope that helps.
How about some info?
# Jul 17 2001 at 12:13 AM Rating: Default
Hmm...I'm going to go look for these soon, I don't have track, but as I can tell as a tailor, this and a couple other things are the cheapest way to increase tailoring skil (can be 30 plat or so an attempt at one boning), I don't have track as a necromancer, and have no idea what lives, and doesn't live in this zone, as the only time I have been trough it is running like a coward along the north wall to get to skyshrine. I would like to know if the pelts drop off these with any consistency, or if it's kind of rare. I assume I will need the services of a tracker to find them, though seeing invis isn't really they problem. And for all you flamers, sheesh get a freakin clue.

There are many Creature in this zone the skins are fairly rare about 1 in 10 kills. Also watch out for Mist panthers they are red at 53. There are many different creatures here to avoid you would be better off Printing a map. The panthers and Haze panters Spawn and roam the zone. So to hunt these with any consistency due to the nature of the forest you will need a tracker.

Don't know the exact recipie off hand, components are haze panther pelts, velium boning, and yew leaf tannin, couldn't tell you how much of what to put in for which peices. Regarding the skill lvl, when you are at 250... this armor will not be trivial, so thats at your discression. I have seen references to tailored Haze Panther armor that looks very nice for rogues. Having never killed a haze panther (despite spending a good amount of time in WL -- just unlucky I guess), I don't know -- do they drop pelts as loot?
RE: Pelts
# Mar 08 2001 at 3:52 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, Haze panthers drop Haze panther pelts, the ones used for tailoring the rogue only armor. They also drop Haze panther eyes used in tinkering.

Haze panthers cast invisibilty on themselves and and generally wander on the East side of the lake. The panic/terrorize animal line works nicely on them.

Well, if you don't pick the spot to ID a mob, then yes it's a good way to Instill Train. But only retards fear mobs into their friends more than once (first time ya might not expect mob to path a certain way or something funky can happen).

Don't go calling others retards just cause you don't know how a monk can use ID (or rogue, for that matter...) properly

Hehe, eh what do you want? It's forum on alakazam's ). Anyway, I'm pretty sure these guys are animal, please don't come after me while I sleep if you, through some nasty mishap, find out otherwise. They wander -insert zone here-, if you need to be told that please shut down your computer and walk away slowly, all over the zone really, and generally stay invis. So you're gonna want to bring yourself a ranger/druid/bard/drink, bard or druid would be best since they have see invis. Furs are random drop. I've heard lvl 39-45 (low 40's pretty much).
