In Form of the Great Wolf, the mist panther cons amiable.

In my true form(Wood elf) he cons dubious.

I'm gonna assume that he likes puppies, but is not too friendly towards the player-character races...

The panther is amiable to me (65 ranger of tunare) and has no faction. It's a tough to take down - without slowing him I don't think it'd have managed it.

It enrages at 10% and flees at 4% each time.

Haven't had any drops from it, though gives a full blue AA exp.

I am also a ranger of Tunare and I have never done anything to mess with that faction, but the Mist Panther cons dubious to me.

Solo'd him last night thinking he was a normal panther, conned blue at 61. Max hit for 115 took me a while to kill him even with stacking epic dot, pox and bane of nife on him all the while unloading with JBB nukes. Guessing the kill took 15 minutes and didn't drop anything. Way too many hp 4-5k dmg in dot's did 10% dmg to him.

Oh, and he summons and has no faction when killed.

As with the first poster on this thread I was in the zone, me a 61 shaman, and came across this guy. I checked who was in the zone and there was a bard so I sent him a tell asking if he had it on track, and what it conned, the bard was lvl 60. I received no reply from the bard. and the thing was blue, so I figured what the hell, attacked it.

close to 15 min later it was dead, once slowed this thing isnt too hard to beat hit me I think for a max of 120. Resisted a disease based poxx I think once. wish I would have had log on to see exact damage but if I had to guess I would say 20-25k ? I will try again next time I see him with log on and tell you exactly how many Hpts he has.

Ok I went back and did him again with the Log on, forgot to turn pet hits on, but for me, I did 24,838 pts of dmg. If that hels you get a rough estimate at all?
No faction hit.

I was fighting in this zone for the first time (trying to get my Wandering Mind spell) and was killing a panther here, a tigerrapter there, and just pulled this mob thinking it was just another panther. Ouch, 2 level 42's vs a level = time for a CR

Holy Geez, guys! What the hell? so much talk about what it cons....look above at the discription! LVL 60 MOB! A good question was asked...What faction is it on? No answers yet. I think that is a hell of a good thing to know as I was trying to give it the Rhino meat for the Rought Silver Chain Quest and it chewed up 3 and gave back the 4th saying it didn't want it... I conned dubious at the time yet kindly to Tunarean Court. Is it on CoV then? ANY info on this would be GREAT!

this guy is used in a quest aka Dont kill it. Some group killed it just before i got there and i had to wait around for the respawn.
Probably Soloable

Level 60 Ranger + Level 60 cleric = dead Mist Panther.

Would have been non trivial, but I could have soloed it I think (the ranger).

First of all, Haze Panther vs Mist Panther, two totally different things, mist panther is a quest NPC for the rough silver chain quest, Haze Panther is more of a kill for loot mob, drops a Haze Panther Skin for high skill tailoring, from what i've heard, Mist Panther has no drop

That is correct, the Haze Panther (NOT Mist Panther) skins are for excellent Rogue ONLY PC Tailored armor. Trivial >250 for all pieces. The recipe is: haze panther skin + yew leaf tannin + pattern + one to four velium bonings.

Haze panthers drop eyes and pelts. They are called haze because they can invis themselves. IE unless you have see invis up you will not see haze panthers in person or on track. Mist panther does not invis. I see him near the lake everytime I run past and always...always see him on track. I have only seen one haze panther on track, and he promptly invised himself. Ranger is too low to see invis and cleric can;t see invis.
Haze panter eye
# Jul 19 2001 at 8:51 PM Rating: Default
The eye in question is a rare (almost as rare as the skins) drop off the Haze Panthers. VI never puts any kind of drops on Quest mobs.

Not entirely true. At one time you could kill Brother Zephyl in Rathe Mountains to obtain the Robe of the Lost Circle. He is also one of the quest NPC's you have to turn items into to obtain the same robe. Not sure if u can still do this but you could.

there's also a kael giant that drops an item he gives a quest for. that way, you can get it whether you are on kael or non-kael faction.

He just has crazy regen
# Jul 05 2001 at 12:19 PM Rating: Default
Was hunting Fawns with some evil friends and we decided to pull him and see how tough he was. With 2 monks, one warrior 1 SK and 2 shaman on heals he went down easy. I dont recall much healing because he was hitting in the 30s, and not all that fast.

The difficulty in killing him is he has regen that is amazing, we were unloading on him with some serious weapons and he was barely dropping hp. Guesstimating regen at about 500hp/tick. THe Experience was really good when he died though. No drops of note.

He has normal regen rate. I stopped attacking for a minute and his hp didn't move even 1%. He has about 50,000hp.

That seems unlikely. The Mist Panther is a quest beast, and I've heard that like many other quest NPCs (such as Corudoth in IC,) its incredibly hard for its level. Since its level is 60, that would mean very bad things. I've heard a story of two groups of 60s attacking it, once. The only survivors were a Necro who successfully Feigned Death, and a Cleric who gated out at the start, and they barely budged its hitpoint bar 1/3 of the way.

Be careful, people.

You are correct, the Mist Panther is a Quest NPC, and not really intended to be killed. Three of us, a 60 SK, 54 MAG, and myself, a 57 DRU, were hunting panthers for hides, when the SK pulled this, thinking it was a haze panther. We weren't certain at the time what it was, only that it conned even to the SK.

It was a long fight, as others have indicated it does not hit hard, but seems to have an insane number of hit points. There was no faction hit, and the experience seems appropriate to a level 60 mob. The SK tanked and held agro, while the mage nuked and his rogue pet did what it could. I primarily healed, and threw in some free dots from my Velious bracer. We were never in any real danger, as snare stuck first time, and the tank's hit points were going down fairly slowly.

One interesting point is that the Mist Panther appears to be completely immune to Fear spells. All of both mine and the SK's were resisted.

Is Mist panther same as Haze panther?
# Apr 03 2001 at 8:17 AM Rating: Default
OK, the Mist Panther conned very red to me at 51 (also red to the 56 druid who tracked it for me. I didn't attack it.

Is there a Haze panther that is different, and drops Haze Panther pelts for tailoring?

Haze panther is completely different... blue to me at 51 and hit for 101 max, haze panther I haven't tangled with and probably never will.

We were doing the Phenocryst Focus quest for a second time and pulled this guy between Phenocryst spawns (1hr BTW). It hits like a wus; it's max hit on me was for 67pts (I'm level 47 SK). With 2 groups, ranging from level 38 to 52 (mostly high 40's), we were able to kill him with no casualties and only 2 CH's from the cleric. Took a long time though as it has a ton of HP's and resisted most of the lower level character's spells. Didn't drop anything. This mob is either for some kind of quest, or was set up wrong by VI.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 26 2001 at 4:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Blue to 45. Uses a form of invis that breaks when you attack it. Targeted the mist panther when it was recharging its invisibility. High magic resistance. Don't know what it drops, had to run P

He is static, in the same spot over and over. He doesn't move, and has consistently con'd red to me every time I wander past him.

Hmm. I see my mistake. The cat I described above was a haze panther.
