This is the top fellow in the Labyrinth named after himself. He is located in a throne room in the basement of the castle and will aggro normally as you walk into his range.

Took 17 minutes 55 seconds to self buff DS kill Velketor as a cleric. Extremely accurate but weak attack, hit rate was as much as 74%, and rediculous Magic Resistance to even Lifetaps, so no marks or ward. Fun to do!

Could a lvl 70 necro take this guy solo? I have approximately 200 AA's with some time / GOD gear and epic 1.5. Approximately 8k HPs buffed.

He hits for 850max, is pratically unslowable (took 11 casts while he was tash'd....and then it wore off 15 seconds later) and hits pretty fast while he casts.

killed him again today and yes......another velks book but i also found a nerfed item that no ones posted yet.....Vermilion Orb of Torrefaction is listed as a 450 to 605dd 10sec cast time but it is now only 250 / 250dd 10sec cast time.

saw all the posts about taking him down by boxing chars, got my hopes up so I tried the single group method.

65war, 70 rng, 70 monk, 67 rogue, 67 sham, 67 clr. He lasted about 6 minutes only cause ranger was on add.

Didnt drop spellbook, just the chanty gear, a sword and bunch of spells including Archlich

i try to three box Velk when ever i can due to his book sells for 30k tribute........ive had the plesher of finding him up about 5 times now and all of those 5 times he has dropped the book for me so it may have been changed in a sesent patch or im just lucky eh. I do him with a 11k waarrior,8k ranger and a 5k mana cleric with kei unbuffed. Also velks grafic look is bugged as of a few months now.....looks like a normal kael arena giant =( ( i do velk in his room + his guards charging them all and killing his guards first. Not sure if the book thing is just pure luck but i have yet to have it not drop for me. If u need one on The Seventh Hammer just give me a tell with a price......i always tribute em =P

Velk's spawn time is 3 days (not sure of the exact hour, but i track him 3-4 times a day and he popped on the 3rd day sometime. He is about on par with vindi, except much easier to pull, and a very very safe fight if you kill him in his room. Dropped the book (woot!), vermillion ore of torrifaction, bracelet of frost bite, bone bracelet of condemnation and 5 spells (cant remember them all.

4 boxed Velk this morning. 70 war (10.9k unbuffed), 70 cleric (9.5k mana, FT 25), 70 shaman (100 AA, crap gear), 66 bard 330 AA. Cleric never went below 90mana, shaman just nuked with poison nuke, resisted a lot. This guy probobly has about 200k hp or so, maybe a little more. fight lasted about 7-9 minuted i believe. Was after the book, and of course he didnt drop it. dropped Vermillion robe, and Vermillion orb (grats level 30 wizzy in zone) bracer of frostbite, and various velious spells. This guy was much easier than i remember =P. The post is WRONG about him melleing while he casts. He was down to 90% health before he hit MT once!! he does not melle and cast. casted various wizzy (i believe) spells. none of which landed. hits were in the 700 range, quads. Thats with no disc and all defensive AA >2700 AC. Average hit was 350ish. Hope this helps anyone out there. I will repost with his spawn time. have a perma tracker at dogs checking for his repop.

I kind of figured that he would drop the book every time considering its for a quest and hes a 7 day spawn. Well I was wrong. Just killed ihm. He had 5 spells, mage boots, and a wizard thing.

My guild just killed him on the 26th, was a fun raid except that someone trained Velketor on us at zone line. Raid force wasn't really buffed, was overkill with 16+ people. I think two people died during encounter. Only tough thing was that most of raid didn't know you had to be in melee range for spells to stick, dropped the necro bracelet and ring, his spellbook, and a couple of spells. I got the spellbook for Oracle of K'arnon quest and guildies were logging on some alts for necro equip when someone came and looted it all.

very easy encounter 4 persons can kill we did with war,shaman,druid,enchanter. easy farm for book to make grand tunic and kinda fun hehe

I have to disagree, he's not that easy. I did him with war, druid, enchanter at first, only got him to 60%. The druid was oom at about 70% and and kited him the rest. I put a cleric (and a wizard tagged a long) in and it then became doable. His max hit is 850, he is no joke. Keeping mana after that wasn't a problem, when the cleric went oom the druid took over. I could have done this forever, mana wouldn't have run out by switching between the two. Wizard didn't do very much damage, does giant bane work on him? Would have made it much faster if he had it and it worked.

Btw, the guards are on a long repop. Prolly the same as velketor. I did manage to pacify one guard, but I was lucky. You have to open the door and back away quickly in order to see and not agro.

Other helpful hints here...one as an update, velketor does have a nuke, forgot the exact name of the spell but it does approx 800 damage (against a 200 MR) when it lands.

He does have a very weak ae dd stun (stun lasted about 2 seconds at 65, and did approx. 300 damage against 200 MR), that he uses uncommonly.

He is very magic resistant, he is slowable, but save your mana, don't bother to slow, dot, or cripple the stinker, cause he dispels himself every 10 seconds, same effect as sontalak. Annul self.

As far as melee range casting goes, that's irrevelant here. I've had casters land nukes on him from max distance 3 and 4 times in a row, and I've had casters not land one nuke on him whole fight at melee range. It's all about luck, he's very resistant, can't be tashed, or malos permanently (since he debuffs himself every 10 seconds).

If you have a low-level right-clicky, unresistable tash, it could come in handy here for helping spells land, other than that, you're basing it off luck.

As for faction, he does give you a positive hit to tormax (checked raid log). Not sure how big it is, but I'm at dubious to Tormax after maybe about 9 to 10 velketor raids.

As far as letting him nuke his heart out? Bad idea, he can melee while nuking, I looked back at the raid logs, and I lead ch chains a lot, I know the difference betweeen melee hits, and a nuke, and he is very clearly doing both simulataneously.

You have a much better chance of succeeding on the raid if you position your raid behind his room, in the secret tunnel with the one-way wall to the eyes camp.

You also have a better chance of completing the raid if he is single pulled, which can be done.

Both guards are confirmed to be unmezzable, and if a named guard spawns (very rare), the named guard is unslowable.

CH chain of 4 seconds worked fine, 3 seconds works better if you can spare the clerics. If you're short on both tanks and clerics, you can have wizards chain spellshield the tank, or enchanters chain rune the tank, keeps the tank alive longer, thus the raid alive longer.

Velk's ae's are rare, so pet hold is not necessary, and if you're a smaller raid, you probably need the pet's dps, so anyone who wants a pet can get one. Just don't sit on the pull, but that's a general rule anyways.

Let's see, what else can I think of? Mana-tapping him can help a lot; prevents the gate, lowers his dps. Pushing him is good, but remember to make sure healers stay in range, other than that? Good luck, go up with a plan and at least 3 to 4 groups for your first attempt.

actually the spawn time on velketor is 7 days (/- 12 hours)

He also will pop 12 hours (+/- 6 hours) after servers come up, from maintenance, patch, update, crash, or repop.

1 grouped him, had a cleric war druid nec monk and mage. first time we didnt have the mage and he gated on us at 4%. we got the mage and took him down with no problems at all. cleric and i finished fight at around 30-40% mana (all time geared except monk and war)

ok our guild on Morell-thule server just took him down the other day. we are a casual, but very close guild. going into the fight i believe only 2 ppl in the entire raiding force had seen or taken him down before, so needless to say it was a learning experience for all of us. before i get into to much about the fight let me point out that i am a wizard of the 57th season, i am the second highest wizzy in guild, next to our 65 wizzy who wasnt at the fight btw.

for one thing this mob is kinda tough but once u figure it out he shouldnt me very hard, we wiped on our first try, then on our second time we kicked his butt. as we figured out the first time aggro is kinda important, our MA lost aggro for just a matter of seconds, and as planned our SA was on him, as well as all the assists, but before any one could really recover our SA was down. right then our MA got aggro back and we continued to kick is butt. we were doing great till VtS got down to about 45% life that is when our 2 clerics...yes i said 2, were starting to run oom, at that time our wizzy, me, and other casters were also running low on mana as well. when mob it 44% 1 cleric went oom and it was over in just a mater of seconds, we got necros and clerics to camp to help recover for the impending wipe. one thing i must add for cast is the fact that they might see ALOT of resists. this is because of one thing, u are too far away. i found, rather quickly might i add, that VtS is kinda like the drakes in hate where u have to be in melee range to attack.

our second, and successful try. we had our puller, a necro, switch chars and bring his cleric, with about a billion mana who could almost single handidly keep our ma alive. like i mentioned about casters have to be in melee range for spells to hit. having that figured out, and having a 3rd cleric we were able to take him down with no deaths and no real problems. our fight with him took awhile considering i was the only wizzy, no mages, no monks and i think maybe one rogue....that equals almost 0 dps classes. in general this mob is not that hard if u have a game plan, a general knowlage of the mob, sufficient clerics, three was good for us cuz one had alot of mana, i would recogmend more though. all in all we did him with only 19 ppl and average lv being 60 i believe. we had 6-7 65's and 2 53 warriors so we had a nice range of lv and classes. i hope this helps a bit, god knows i could have use it the first time might have saved us from a wipe.

one thing i wanna stress, casters have to be in melee range for spells to land, that will save u alot of anguish and alot of mana. (btw sorry for poor spelling..hehe)

My guild on Sol.Ro took this guy out on our 3rd try. Would have made it on our first if we had some useful info about him. So I hope this helps another young guild like us bringing him down.

This guy CAN melee and melee well. Hitting like upper 700ish soemtimes and quading very fast. I see some posts here about not making him Oom and stuff, but don't even worry about that. If you are fighting this guy until he becomes Oom, it is likely that your clerics, no matter how many you have got will be oom far before it. Also, his nukes are something you never have to worry about. If your MT have such low hp and have to worry about his little nukes, you know you are not ready for him. Guy hits well over 500 most of the times (Me being MT with 8khp and close to 1600 ac buffed) one round of his melee if he gets lucky can do close to 2khp dmg in flash, and his next round of melee don't come much later.

CH chain is vital on this mob. Make sure your MT survives because it will be difficult to keep second MT alive once the main falls. He does not give clerics much time to think once 1st MT is down. On our first try, after MT was downed, our second MT (Paladin 62 with 6khp+ and 1400 ac range) went down even before clerics realized that they have to change CH target. Took us so long to bring him down to 70% health, took him about 30 seconds to bring down 25 some ppl.

Recommanded that you have about 4+ clerics for CH chain. with avg level of clerics being 60 or so. Ours was 55 ish avg. DPS is also important as this fight will take about 7+ minutes. Pets are good, but not a must, healvy melee groups will also work. Concentrate your healing on MT and other tanks will not get hurt much. Try fighting this mob behind the narrow hallway behind his chair (Hidden wall) It will benefit you because it is easier to balance the pushing and easier for your healers to be in range. One false CH due to out of range will get you wiped. (Happened on our second try.)

His room will have 2 mobs (Crystal Golems and sometimes one being named) but they can easily be taken out. Our shaman had no trouble slowing those golems. Velks himself, I do not think he can be slowed since we managed to land Tash, Malo (lev60), and decay (unresistable desease debuff) bard resist debuff song, only to waste our shaman mana trying to slow this guy. (But we did not have 65 shm, I will leave another post if I manage to slow him next time with my box'd char.) If slow lands, I figure this guy can be taken out with 1 cleric healing after slow.


I hope this post helps all those non-uber guilds trying to grow higher. GL to you all and below are the classes we had when we downed him.
