Better Loot

If you are interested in making cash, then do not hunt these guys. If you are high enough level, you should farm the orcs. Collect vast amounts of velium and sell in bazaar. The spawns are endless, lots of velium, and good loot besides velium. I sometimes find I can make more cash killing orcs than these guys when I sell to merchant. In the long run, orcs are much better cash. I am not saying that the geo's arent, because i have made tons off of them as well. Also, orcs get you faction with town.

PS: The music in the coldain town in CC is Jamacan Music. WTF??? LOL!!!
PITA As 65 Shammy
# Jul 29 2004 at 9:08 AM Rating: Decent
Yes thats right. Im a 65 shammy and these guys are a pain in the *** to kill. Yes they are easy but was makes them a pain is their huge poison and disease resists. Slow lands on them very easily but even with malo/malosinia I have YET to get any of my poison dots to stick. What makes things worse is that even with malicious decay (disease debuff), I havent yet gotten any of my disease dots to stick.
My highest nuke (velium strike which is a cold based DD) is usually partially mitigated or completely resisted.

So, Im forced to melee these guys to death. Mana and health isnt an issue since these guys dont hit particularly hard but the fights tend to take about 5 minutes. Since their MR isnt that high, Im guessing that if I had my curse dots, these would be alot simpler but alas, I never got those.

Sets us up for a LONG drawn out fite.

I fully agree... I am a 57 Shammy and thought I would play with them while waiting for tigeraptors and holgresh to respawn.
What a Pain in the Butt. Resisted everything but my debuffs.
I have not gotten lvl 54 ICE STRIKE to hit yet.

I would rather play with Tar Goo's

i doubt these drop blue diamonds. i hunted from 39 to 48 here exclusively, friends have hunted there too, unless someone has looted one off a nid i dont believe that they drop here. they are too low level to be dropping such high loot. they dont even drop a chipped blue diamond to my knowledge (though they might), they do drop chipped black sapphire and chipped diamonds, i do know that for a fact, as well as almost any gem below those (chipped version).

btw these are great for cash, and nice experience from 39 to 49, at 49 they turn too light blue to be good exp though. i would use fire pet + full armor + pet heals + occasional nuke. keep 5pt nuke up (or white ceramic band) and just do 5pt, the pet should be able to solo the nids with minimal heals. very fast and paid for most of my horse and more, you can get up to 1k in one trip filling your packs.

good luck.

Gem drops from Geods/Focus Gems/Gem Collectors
# Oct 13 2003 at 4:50 PM Rating: Decent
My friend (Beastlord) and myself (druid) started camping the geods when we were in our low-mid 30's and the first few times the loot was AMAZING! However, the last three times we've been there (since LDON came out) the drops have been HORRIBLE. We'll start at the bottom and go the entire way to the top and get maybe only one or two gems that sell for 5pp each. When we were in there before, we'd get gems that sold for between 50 and 100pp on a regular basis. Does anyone know if they nerfed the loot here recently? Or if the drop rate is dependent on other factors? Even the Focus Gems and Gem Collectors have been dropping nothing or really crappy gems. It seems like the last few times there haven't been as many others in the zone at the same time, does that have anything to do with it?

The precious gems still drop, I guess you just had a bad streak. Last week I got 2 chipped diamonds (190 pp each), 3 chipped black sapphires (166 pp each) and several other good gems in about 15 runs. Keep trying!

Wow, didn't think it'd be this easy, didn't know BST could solo as well as Mage..anywayz, highest they hit me for 28 dmg, lol, and lowest i dropped was 97%, pet was 65%. Pretty easy, just my 2cp.

All the ones in CC are good for is making money. I lvled my war from 41 to 48 in CC very fast. Take a 45 war and get a shammy same lvl, your in business. I once grouped with a 51 monk and a 49 shammy, we killed the geos fast enough to go and kill spiders in the next tunnel. And also added the stalag tunnel to our list.

By the time the 1st hour was over we had a system down: take out all the geos, they are own a 16 min spawn timer. Then go to spider tunnel, and then stalags.

This great way to make some quick PP, we made about 1100pp appiece in 4 hrs of time. The more u clear the spiders and stalags the more the named geos pop

I've killed 4 of these guys in WL...and never seen one drop not even pp. I didn't kill them in a row, it was spread out on three seperate ocations. Now do these guys in WL actualy drop gems?...or is it only from the named ones in CC..I've killed those before and recieved good drops from the named

my roomate is hunting here now and he's looted a chipped diamond and saphire after killing the focus gem, the collector, and two normal geos. are those two gems used for the velious armour quests? I dont want him to sell them without knowing. Thanks in advance.

RE: Gems
# Jun 30 2003 at 1:54 PM Rating: Excellent
The Velious quest gems are droppable/sellable, it's the armor pieces that are no drop.

Back to the origional question, just about all the gems these guys drop are vendor fodder. Very expensive vendor fodder but vendor fodder none the less.
RE: Gems
# May 22 2004 at 9:03 AM Rating: Default
Ummm, sorry Tweelis, the Velious quest gems are nodrop. I'm camping them for my 8th Shawl and have an unrefined diamond, sapphire, and emerald, which are the ones required and they are nodrop.

There's two sets of quest gems. The droppable ones are for the Velious armor, the nodrop ones drop off the Shimmering Geonids and are for the 8th shawl.

It's truely cruel how the Phenocryst quest is so tempting, yet the cash from tearing them apart is tempting also. I decided to go with the crystal but as soon as I finished that quest I'm going to go to CC and run up and down that hall cackling as I collect the gems from the corpses Veneker has recently mangled....

Hp 8k approx, start off indiff faction, hit for up to the upper 120's. nice lewtz, small items like jade rings common, star rubies, flawed gems fairly rare 1 in 20 or so. Shammys cast Togors, kinda burly.

Very low MR very high FR CR

xp decent i thought at 51. may be the new xp bonus not sure. made about 500pp in 3 hours or so.

mob info for WL geos
# Aug 01 2002 at 8:36 PM Rating: Decent
This is info on the Waking Land Geo's, not the ones from CC.

I'm able to single pull these at 58 very easy , but they do have alot of hp and i tend to run oom by the time they die .... xp is terrible also from what i saw, but i have SK hybrid xp, can't comment on the loot sense i only killed two of them and the 3rd (though came very close) made me run with about 150 hp (out of 3 1/2k hp) left and oom and HT with disc was down (from the first pull)... its hp bar was compleately empty ... sucked so bad =( .. atleast i got enough mana for an FD while running away.

They have about 8-9k+ hp , hit me for 119 max (might hit harder, but was kiting, not tanking)and seem to have lower AC than most mobs this level, only got resisted one time on a fear. Also, they seem to run fast, but that was probably because of the shamen Geo that was in the area, which is also why they might have been so tough. Nothing i saw wanders in these caves and its possable to pull them past the fairy dragons (lt blue to me at 58) without them agroing by running between the two rooms they spawn in. I pulled them through the western enterance and kited them outside the tunnel. Nothing seems to wander out there either, but was only there an hour so don't take chances and keep an eye out.

I'm about to go try these again now that i have some alcohol and music rdy to go , i'm also going to buff myself and make a pet this time like i should have done after the first pull (or even before it but i'm a naughty SK). Good luck to you guys ,)

A fellow who moved to kb from the rathe started a new Beastlord and was soloing these last night in CC. He reported 2-3% xp per kill at 45, making 1000pp per level to level 48. The xp figure seems rather high for this level, as a 45 level person would recieve 3% from a quad of specs, and those are near geo's level range.
RE: CC
# Dec 17 2002 at 11:40 AM Rating: Decent
In CC they are fairly easy give decent exp for thair level and don't suffer that high amount HP like in WL. And 45 exp is quite good, they can take you up to lvl 48, after that it's just loothunting, but still nice. Good thing is that they are far apart from eachother and won't assist in except on rare occasions.
Best thing is to start at bottom of tunnel and pull. If you are a rooting class, still pull them 1st at 1 point in the tunnel there is one spawn close to the other to agro you when root breaks. So you'd better park it a bit away.

And the loot in CC can get for a fucusgem/gemcollector up to a chipped diamond. (sells for 200 plat to vendors)
update
# Aug 02 2002 at 12:04 AM Rating: Decent
Made a pet and buffed , much much easier ... survive now with 60m left. They hit for 125. The sylvan messanger is sometimes wandering in this cave ... if your kos , kill her or you might have problems later. Aside from that, there are mobs that wander by outside the tunnel , but minor things like the butterfly thingies and sylvan fairies and they only show up on rare occasions (once an hour or two), killing them gives tunare faction hits. Xp still isn't to great, but at least its there and the loot is wonderful once you get a rythym going so its worth it. Also, sometimes mobs in WL get stuck "under the world" .. go back into the tunnel near where you pull them and they should pop back on you , if not be prepared to run. Hope this helps =)

Use your lower level fear, and kite them in the cave to prevent mobs from outside adding. The lower level fear almost always lasts the full duration post 50 from what I hear, and costs much less mana. Also, lower level spells have a better chance of landing. From personal experience, Snare lands better than Ensnare.

um actually they are soloable in CC at level 40 by a necro SK or druid (in order of ease) and no warriors can "barely" solo ANYTHING after 30-35 but thats beside the point im constantly soloing these since i got velious and lol giants are soloable at 40 as well as they are mostly about the same level as tehse guys... maybe "thats" why they have as much hp as a giant? i wonder..

Wait till you get the drifting death dot. See the amount of HP they have even with stacked drifting death, creeping crud, drones of doom and immolate it takes up to 7 minutes to take them down.

If you want the geonid loot, go to CC.
