I was kiting wyverns from the cave and got jumped by one of these. Are they not on CoV faction like the other wurmies? I'm ally to CoV. Or did I just get too close with the wyverns?

Midgard was the name of the world over which the Norse Gods oversaw. It translates as "middle yard" or "middle place." The serpent which slew Thor was named Jormundgand. They actually killed one another. Thor struck Jormundgand on the head with his hammer, Mjolnir, killing the serpent, but the serpent spewed venom all over in its death throes, killing Thor in the process. There are, of course, different versions of this story, as the Norse did not have a written tradition, and the stories were not written down until after Christianity had taken a firm grasp of northern Europe. Anyway, I could write a while about this, but you all will prolly get bored.

just want to correct something ,, it may be called Jormundgand in english, but i assure you it´s "real" name is Midgardsormur , or the "the worm of midgard" , take this from someone who´s not christian but an real live "heidingi" the rest if pretty accurate =) and midgard is where the ppl of the world make their home, asgard is where the gods lived and utgard is where the jotnar(ogre/troll/whatever name u like to call them in english) lived.
written tradition no , true , but they did have runestones where these stories were carved. and storytelling is a tradition held in high regards in those days in the scandinavian countries to do just that , keep records of things , to remember the stories people in those days made poetry out of the stories, with rhyme and such.

The lindwurm that killed and was killed by Thor had a name, and that was Jormundgand. At Ragnarok, Thor went to slay the Midgard Serpent, so named because he circled the globe and his squirmings were the source of earthquakes and tidal waves, and the beast's death throes resulted in Thor's death as well. Norse mythology makes for an interesting read; everybody dies, pretty much.
