I was trying to do the quest turnin with my 53 ranger and NOTHING I could think of would work. I tried for about 30 minutes with every combination of sneak/hide/opening the trade window/invis that I could think of... when finally it hit me. HARMONY the little bugger and he won't attack you. I used my calm animal spell, and it worked like a charm. Good luck.

Calm animal does not work on the bloodmaw. I used Lull animal and that work just fine. 1 more piece of the map to go.

Calm animal does work, I just did it last night and he went from ready to attack to indifferent. I turned in the meat and got the map piece.

Who ever kills this mob is stupid dont you realize its a quest mob??
cash makein for a chanty.!!
# Jul 10 2003 at 3:52 PM Rating: Decent
I did this, wroked GREAT! i am a 61 Chanter, needed to make some cash, all you have to do, is direcharm bloodmaw (yes he will be rooted, the idea is to bring the mob to him 8-)) i went in tiz caves pulled like 5 tiz's with weapons, (DO NOT CAST ON THEM) jsut pull then my walkin by them so agro isent dtrong at all, use radiant vissage to reduce agro. have a train of 5 or six, and just bring them in to bloodmaw, the tizzys will agro on bloodmaw, trying to get rid of his massive ammout of HP, (very unsuccessfully i might add), and he will just brutalize thoes tizzys, just sit and watch em die. any kodiaks that agro will agro bloodmaw as well. after blood maw is done, he will have like 98% life, loot their weapons and armor, 6pp each. and repeat. i did this for 2 hours strait, made about 1k, easy way to make cash if someone else is castin KEI. just my idea of sum fun with bloodmaw later
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 18 2003 at 11:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) HAAH! Your happy about 1k in 2 hours of farming? Even if some one else is casting KEI, u can farm in Holwing Stones, I've a friend that does and he makes 20k in a few hours EASY. I can make 1k an hour at level 35 farming lol... and I'm a paladin. Even my ranger can farm about 1.5k and hour at 52. This guy is not meant to farm. Although Easy, the cash is just not worth it.

Level 51 bard was scowling to him, he was green to bard and attacked. Charmed Bloodmaw and made the trade. GEESH! way too simple, instead of reading all these stories on how he was killed, ... DOH! He's a quest mob that is perm-rooted! LEAVE him that way please?
hehehe

why do people always run around killing quest guys? It makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever.

There is a reason mobs like these dont attack you...Duh...
RE: hehehe
# Feb 12 2004 at 5:05 PM Rating: Decent
You cant expect everyone to know what every mob is for, but even more than that, Bloodmaw is the best parsing mob I have found. Low AC, ridiculous HPs, and hits like a little girl. Also, his respawn time is a static 28 minutes, so its not like he has to be camped or anything. If I was doing some parsing and someone came up, needing to do the quest, I would have no problem whatsoever letting them do whatever they needed. Malice is ill-willed, randomly killing stuff is not. Thats what happens in this game.

I have a 55th season beastlord friend who can't finish his epic because these idiots keep killing the scout he needs to turn the last item into for the final battle. He caught them once... asked them to stop. They said "no, beastlords are over populated." That was their reason for ruining his epic quest...

...idiots...

So yeah, quest mob killers really get under my skin.

Crazy xp at 29th

If you bought your 24th level spell "Charm Animals" and you're 29th now, you're high enough to kill all kodiaks, even though they all con yellow to red.

Superior Camo, run in and charm Bloodmaw, and go out and pull anything one at a time using harmony (if needed, most of the time it's not) and snare. Be sure to guide the kodi's through the caves, otherwise they'll drop on top of you and smack you pretty hard. Tell bloodmaw to attack, and let him do the rest.

He has about 20-50k hit points, and hits as if he's 34th level. That's on par with the rest of the kodiaks except Icetooth, who is 38th.

Make sure that you can snare anything, because once they get low enough, they'll run, and Bloodmaw can't chase them.

I went from 29-35th in approximately 5 hours using this method. It's absolutely INSANE xp. Even now, I get 3/4th of a blue per kill.

I did the same from lvl 38-40 with my druid and still got great xp. I cast greater heal on bloodmaw which cures 300hp and it took two casts to give him 1% hp cured so I calculate that gives him around 50-60K hp. I only wish Bloodmaw would be able to move, then you could command him to take on wurms or giants, hehe.

Just stand far enough to not aggro him but close enough to trade with him and he'll despawn after handing him the meats. It's simple: as long as he is not attacking you, he accepts the meats.

No charms/harmony/sneak needed at all.

he dosnt hit hard but has prolly over a million hp 10K took an almost invisablue amout of hp off LOL! he took me 49pally and a 49 war + a druid and cleric like half an hour of pure fighting to drop him! he had no pp and no items gave only the druid and cleric exp no factions. he also seems to port to the room he was in if he gets to far away from the spot he was in.

I recently took down this mob with the help of a 55 enchanter. I myself being a 50 shaman. We basically used our pets to attack bloodmaw and just sat and waited (about 30min). He has around 32K hp and stopped fighting the pets at about 1/3 hp left, which was kinda weird. Also, he doesn't move from his position at all. So any caster of any level could take him out given enough time. Would be pointless though since the loot on him was zilch.

RE: FD questing
# Nov 21 2002 at 1:20 PM Rating: Decent
I just did the tizmak meat mini-quest today.
I'm a 49 monk with around 130 Sneak skill. Bloodmaw was ready to attack despite Sneaking and being directly behind him. He would attack as soon as I attempted to open trade, maybe I was too close I dunno.
Anyway...I tried FD and he immediately conned indiff and ceased attacking. Now I don't know if this next part is common or odd (I don't FD trade a lot) but when I tried to give him the first meat I got the 'I'm busy' message. After a couple of tries I was able to open a trade window by standing, clicking item on him and FD'ing again quickly. Once open, the trade window stayed open and I was able to complete the trade while FD. He then de-spawned as advertised and the gnome accepted the "I want the map piece' phrase and gave me Third Piece of Velious Map (not sure if that's the exact name).
RE: FD questing
# Aug 05 2003 at 3:55 PM Rating: Decent
Level 60 SK, was also able to do this using FD. Walked right behind him then FD. Then, un-FD and handed meat. This took about 20 tries before it worked. Had to go and tap some "green" mobs to regain health from the 19 times it did not work and Bloodmaw beat on me. When you un-FD, you have to be quick and hand in meat before Bloodmaw starts hitting you.
Enoon, 60 SK on Lanys T'Vyl.
