I was a lvl 30 when I soloed these cougars, didn't use fear animal cus we didn't have the spell yet(pre-patch). Great exp. Just snared, dot and melee. I had yakesha warclub and shortsword of morin, partial ivy etched.
ok, first, the gnomes dont care bout these at all and will not help you, so dont expect to use them as guards. second, they have either lots of HP or lots of regen cuz my lv 25 paladin fought a yellow one and got it down to bout 2/3 hp and never budged its hp bar past that, even after using lay hands, so i really dont get why but it went from me winning barely to me losing pitifully, so I advise thjat you only fight these if you have a high ratio weapon, or can kite them, because you have to either kill them fast, or snare/root/fear andnuke them to bits, otherwise you not have a good time here till at least 30, theres lots by the gnome camp, and lastly, I was wearing full bronze, and had skin like nature, full mana, full hp, a ghoulbane, chloroplast, an SBS, royal velium gaunts, netherbian chitin, and SoW, and lost miserably despite that, it conned yellow and the con message was right, it wiped the floor with me
I am a 31 level ranger, but when I was 30 I was soloing these cougars without much problem. I use a crystalline sword and an icy blade, not that powerful of weapons, fear and whack is an easy way to kill them but you should be them to the docks so you are less likely to pick up adds. When you pull try to pick out a single one, I pulled once and another two were close enough by to agro. That wasn't fun :) They are a easy kill if single, or if you have a ranger/druid in your group.
Hi i want to know if i can solo these guys at lvl 30 im not that twinked but i have 2 lammys but thats the only good thing i have so can i solo these guys?
I'm a 29 Shaman, if I go to IC will I be able to get a group? Not really interested in soloing. Wondering if I'll be too low, or will people pick me up for heals. Thx
One of my chars was a lvl 35 barb shamy I soloed them to get out of hell level Could kill 3 of them with 4 1/2 mana bubs w/o cannibilizing for more than 1 hp bub (regen on) For 3 killed I got roughly 1 1/2 blue bub of exp -quite good if you think I was in hell lvl... Looted 1 hq and 1 earring outa tons of trash Quite good to get out of hell if you're fed up with sitting your **** behind party members falling asleep between 2 slow and quickness :p
hey, i just got my monk to level 30, very exited went to get flying kick. got it then i decided i might give cougars in ic a try. got ap ort there, got a bind at soulbinder, then tried to take on one of the kitties. the first one i took on was blue, he hit for mostly in the 20's and 30's and uncommonly hit for 48. he got me down to a littel lower than half life so i used mend and was up to 3/4 life while he was at 3/4 life also. i just got flying kick so it doesnt hit too often. once he got me tdown to 1 and a half red bubbles of life he started running away. finnaly i killed him and sat down and reg life. once i was almost full health i went to get another one. he was blue also but for some reason he kept on hitting me for 30-50 and i had to run and fd. i got full health and tried again and the same thing happened. can anyone give me any tips on how to solo these guys?
My troll SK is great at soloing these things, just a lil engulfing darkness and a good fear plus stat leaches and pet bashing, not a bad combination. What makes the pet awesome tho is the velium weapons from the rygorr fort in EW. Ask if you can join a group over there or just to pick up the velium weapons and you'll see your pet doing up to 400 points of damage per fight if u keep it alive long enough. just drop a snare and fear and chase it and you'll do fine. picking up a druid for a better snare and DoT plus the emergency heals isnt a bad idea either and great for breaking the boring stream of kittens. (plus the chance to find a cougar claw earring, greatly superior to a orc fang)
High quality skins can be used for the cougar skin mask - check Alla's main site for the specifics, but you turn in one HQ skin and 2 mammoth meats (in seperate boxes) to a named Gnoll SE of the Tower of Frozen Shadows.
Even a 36 Cleric can do these, 2 in a row. Root use up 40M on Wrath and then get the next one. But really they are a waste of time. I have found the earing doesn't drop all that often and the skins are just a pain.
I was here for a TOFS raid a few days ago and I soloed these while I waited. Most were turqoise, but there were plenty of blues. The blues generally took one full bubble, about 400 hitpoints before they died. I could probably solo these a lot, but it was really boring. I doubt I'll go back just to kill cougars.
it would be very very difficult, if not impossible, for a lvl 28 druid to solo these. they're mean, they resist, and they have a lot of hit points. wait till about 30 and you should be just fine.
At 26, with snare, charm animal, fear animal, dot and dd memmed, could you potentially snare two, charm one, have it attack the other and sit down to med while they take each other out?
With sabretooths in LoIO, I've been able to do this successfully for 5 levels or so. Just wondering if iceclad cougars have special resists or are faster than the kitties in Kunark.
Yep, you can quad these guys. The cougars over at the ToFS are easiest ... just watch out for the snow dervishes that are around. I usually snared 4 or so and pulled them back towards the gnoll village and quadded them there for safety.
for 30-33 i soloed walrus' in ew for good exp... and that raised my faction with the gnolls so im now amiable.... i just pull the 4 cougars over to the area of the gnolls and dont have to worry about any adds... a little less than 2 blue per quad at 34 =)
I have the Warden of Tunare which has a triggered effect of Root. What I do is snare, run a little, DoT with Creeping Crud, run DoT with Immolate, run a little more then root. While it is rooted I med, when root breaks or spell end I recast and repeat as nessasary. When Mob is ready to run i move in with melee to finish it off. Piece of Cake. Granted on occasion snare is resisted or Immolate, but then I nuke it with Combust. BTW I am a lvl 31 Druid
My 37 Ranger uses these things as target practice! In Iceclad these things are still blue and i can take 5-6 of these before healing and medding.
I usually pull with snare, kite to a safe spot along the shore with my bow, before they are in attacking distance cast fear and whack away. these things only hit me MAYBE 2-3 times before they are dead. This is a great way to practice up your bow skills btw.
I usually gain a yellow bubble an hour sometimes even more. The loot sucks though, youll maybe get a couple of earings a night if your lucky. I leave the pelts behind cause they are worthless.
My Ranger at Lv34 owned these things. I could take on 4-5 in a row using snare/fear combo before healing and medding, and when aggroed by 2 at the same time I still owned them. Got a couple of Cougar Claw Earings and 3 yellow bubbles in less than 2 hrs.
