You say, 'Hail, Ulump Pujluk'

Ulump Pujluk croaks slowly and wipes a filthy muck from its eyes as it tries to look at you. 'Something come to talk to Ulump. Too much pain. Just go.' It goes back to scratching and wiping at its muck and filth covered body.

You say, 'what pain?'

Ulump Pujluk says, 'Much pain. Much pain since tiny priest came to swamp. Found Ulump, once mighty warrior, and caught his soul in bottle. Twisted it and tied it to the earth. All day Ulump feels the corruption and pain of the earth beneath his feet.'

You say, 'what corruption?'

Ulump Pujluk says, 'Corruption spread by priests of disease. It slides and moves just beneath the surface of the land. Ulump not able to hold on any more. If you stormwalker and trying to cleanse the land then you must kill Ulump. Kill him and take his essence and the three foci from the corrupted beasts to the filthy gnome who hurts the land. Ulump can feel him, far off near the large water.'

Took him with
51 ranger
62 ranger
65 SK
58 cleric
56 druid (me)
52 wizzy
65 chanter
53 bard
and I know there was another caster but now I can't remember what it was.

We definetly coulda done it with less. When he was at 80% I went LD (yikes!) and so I logged back on 3 mins later and he was down.

3 deaths...the cleric, the chanter, and a ranger.

I 2 boxed this guy last night. 65 cleric and 61 warrior. I went in defensive at first just to get a feel for it. Sadly it regened faster than the damage I could dish out. Once defense ran out and I got the cleric's summoned hammer pet out, uulump's health started going down very slowly. Fight took me 40 minutes (with visions of grandeur.)
He runs at 15% health, swimming NW through the water. Resisted partially and sometimes completly fleshgrinder(fire) procs. If you plan to 2 box this guy, do yourself a favour and bring a character with a lot of DPS. Had I known how silly the regen was, I'd bring my brother's ranger instead of my warrior. Top hit was 225 and cleric was FM the entire fight.

Ulump regens at about 40 hps per second. When we took him down, we only had 230 damage per second, and he went down with MUCH ease. We only needed one incomplete heal from a Druid. Something like 80 to 100 DPS would probably be all you need to take him down.
Splurt works
# May 04 2003 at 11:34 PM Rating: Decent
No spells or procs as far as I could tell. Got splurt to land 3 times, resisted once. Casted the last one when he was at 8% health, just to check resist. Ignite blood and ebolt would not stick, nor would any snares. Was a pretty easy fight, have a few good melees if you can... casters won't be doing their full damage to him.

65 Cleric and 65 Monk killed Ulump for my epic. Was planning to do him Monday with guild, but thanks to Heallun and Strikeing on Vazaelle, I got my Froglok Essence.

Ulump was really no problem, I of course couldn't cast anything on him so I just spot healed monk. Cleric was FM through the entire thing. =)

Thanks guys!!

Ulump has very high magic resistance, so no, he cannot be soloed. You will need a few tanks to take him out.

Spawn time?
# Apr 04 2003 at 8:28 PM Rating: Decent
Popped on The Seventh Hammer... Someone leaked he was up, and some uber guild went and got him fast.

Anyone know how long it takes for this guy to pop?

***************EDIT AND UPDATE********************

Aparently he either wasn't killed, but just depopped, or he respawned VERY fast.

After asking around, I heard his spawn time was 12 hours.

I had a feeling that I should keep checking in, so I bound myself very close to his bind point, and kept popping in to check track. Sure enough! About 3 hours later, there he was!

I could not believe my luck!

I gathered all the peeps I could at the time, and got them started toward me. I was a bit superstitious at this point. I had seen him earlier, and left the zone. I didn't want to do that again and have him depop again.

To continue to make sure, I kept hailing him.

When those coming to help reached Firiona Vie, my luck kicked in again! A guild was doing an MQ for another quest about 10 feet from where he pops! They helped me kill him, and in return, I donated 1k to their guild. Tunare knows I would have donated more if I could have, but am poor, plus owe a friend some plat who's getting back in 2 weeks.

Anyways, hope this is a good story for you, and the moral is if you miss your chance don't give up! You could pop back in to find him sitting there smiling at ya long before you expected him 8)

Killed with 2 people
# Apr 04 2003 at 9:22 AM Rating: Decent
Killed him yesterday with 2 people. 65 monk, and 65 cleric on 2box. Fight took roughly 8 minutes, but with VoQ the cleric was medding back almost more mana than was spend on complete. After I killed him, logged on my druid and looted the froglok essence. Monk had roughly 5200HP, and started my CH's at roughly half life.

It never ceases to amaze me... there's 84 posts here about this guy and 3 ask viable questions, 1 of gives useful info, and the rest are the groups that took him down....

Let's summarize....
1- He has an estimated 30-40k hitpoints... Nuff Said

2- He is extremely high in MR (70percent)... Nuff Said

3- He spawns at n100, n1770... Nuff Said

4- He's on a 12hrs timer, 3 days a week... Nuff Said

There's all the useful info you need on this guy. He's been taken down with as few at 3 peeps... and as many as 12. Nuff Said.

Note also that wizard lure spells will land. I haven't fought him yet, but have read in various places those spells stick.

Wish us luck this weekend (hopefully)

Also, he will not outright attack the druid that needs him down, so you may approach him, and figure out the best strategy.

Only once you attack will he, but don't worry... He WANTS you to kill him 8)

My experience

We took him out today with 2 level 61 monks, a 57 cleric, and a 58 druid. He seemed to be about 80%-90% MR, very few spells landed on him. Other people say that he has 32k hitpoints and hits for 200. This was true the last time I killed him, however it seems to have changed recently. He has ~46k hitpoints, double attacks and kicks/bashes. He has a max hit of 225 and a minimum hit of 83. With an AC of 1143 his average hit was 161, and he hit for max (225) 21.2% of the time.

I expected him to have 32k hitpoints like others have said, however here is what I found:

Duration of fight: 5:33
Monk #1 damage output:
  • non-melee (32 pt DS) - 5,312
  • kick - 2,676
  • punch - 6,769
  • crush - 10,459
  • Monk #2 damage output:
  • kick - 2,005
  • punch - 18,473

  • Total damage: 45,694

I can only think of 2 possible situations to explain this:
    (A) They have beefed Ulumps hitpoints
    (B) He has some serious regen (247 hp/tick)

Well I just killed him at about 10:30pm this evening on the Karana server. And I learned a couple things that weren't posted here before.

I ran to Swamp of No Hope to find his pop location and he was not up. I sat to mem bind and heard someone casting. He popped within two minutes of me arriving. Well I put out the call to the guildies and starte a chat channel but none of the MT's in my guild were around (Friday Night - MT's are all out drinking).

Well, after reading all the posts about needing a great MT I was disappointed when all the big tanks in my guild were not on. But I figured I would see who was willing to help and hope against hope that the MT's show. Well after about 45 minutes still no MT's but I look around and we have:

    3 Shammys all over 50
    1 Cleric Level 51
    4 Druids (52 to 56)
    1 Wizzy (60+)
    2 Necros (45 and 56)
    1 Monk (52)
    1 Ranger (55)
    1 Pally 50ish

So we dont have a great MT but we have a BUTTLOAD of healers. So we send in the 55 Ranger as our MT and the 50ish Pally as ST. In addition to a buttload of Healers we have 3 shammy pets and 2 necro pets. Now here is the thing that no one considered.

Ulump is a Froglok. He likes the water. He spawns in the water. So my MT agros him in the water. We now have our MT fighting UNDER water and all our healers safe and dry on the shore. In case you forgot if you are above water and are casting on something UNDER water nothing lands ... including that chain heal you so carefully set up. After about 45 seconds the MT is down and we move to the ST our level 50ish Pally.

By this time the tanks know to get out of the water and the healers are ready to get their feet wet. At 50PCT health the caster cast everything they have. Why not. They had the mana to burn and enough stuff lands to bring the froggie under control at which point he runs all the while swimming away. Eventualy the melee types tank him and one dead froggie.... and only two more fights til I have my leaf blower. One with the barracudas and one with Fay.

Thanks to all my guildies in Enchanting Souls

What is the sapwn time on this guy ?
A single group can indeed take him down.
    # Jan 17 2003 at 12:58 AM Rating: Decent
The group I brought with me was as follows:

    1) MA - 59 Pally
    2) Nuker - 56 Wizard
    3) Support - 54 Bard
    4) Healer - 57 Cleric
    5) Healer - 59 Shaman
    6) Healer - 58 Druid
    7) Support - 54 Chanter (runes on MA, chanter buffs, etc)

The chanter was not grouped and did not cast on Ulump at all.

The tank took Ulump down 10% before anyone cast on Ulump and the tank did not lose aggro once during the fight.

The shaman reported no resists from his epic spear's dot, I was able to get 1 Scoriae to stick but it did little damage, my dots would not stick at all.

The wizard reported that the Lure line of spells stuck and most hit for full damage. His Rain of Sol spell hit with maybe 10% dmg, and his others did not stick.

When it was said and done Ulump never touched anyone but the MA, he fled at 20% and ran slowly so was easy to finish.

Shaman used 40 mana, I used 20 and cleric used 60 or so - not bad at all.

    Mugwump
    Easily done by good group
    # Jan 13 2003 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
Took him down 11-12-03 with a group of 60 druid, 55 cleric, 55 paladin MT (myself), 54 Ranger, 52 Ranger, 51 ranger. Had a 60 Shaman there as well, however shaman was unable to land any slows so he assisted in heals. Using Narandi's Lance, Boiling Blood only landed about 30% of the time. Chain stunning, although resisted 95% of the time, kept agro on me the entire time - the only time any ranger got hit is when they got in front with me and got riposted.
Hits for low to mid 200's, and since very MR and unslowable (I guess) the fight is pretty long - have to melee him to death. Starts to flee about 10% health, runs into the water so watch your air. Good luck
