Sacred Key
# Oct 24 2005 at 11:53 AM Rating: Decent
I got the "sacred key" Oct. 23 off a Ratman, practically right outside the Keeper's door.

The Keeper wasn't up, but it was nice to be able to peak inside the room to check.

ETA: Also got the key again Oct. 24 from another Ratman out in the courtyard. The ones with bags attached to their belts seem to be the ones that drop (which someone has probably mentioned elsewhere, but now it's here, too).

Finally today he was up right before the server merge and i was able to get him with just my 67 pally and box druid 62 without a hassel. His door was NOT locked and he did NOT have a pet either. fairly easy fight till you get adds but got the drop. Long spawn I guess. My opinion they should fix that for 1.0 epics

The door IS locked, my friend and I just did the fight. I had to log on my rog. I had a feeling it was locked even though I had checked with him earlier, alot of doors in there don't require lock picks to be on cursor.

Anyone know what the deal with this guy is, I know his spawn spot and I dont seem to be needing any key to open the doors to his room, But this guy is NEVER up i have a 62 druid bound down there near him to track him I get ghost of kindle and all the other named down there on track but not him so I thought maybe track is just broke cause i check 3 times a day for over a week now. So i took my paladin 67th and worked my way to his spawn clearing everything out got there and hes not up so track isnt broke. But what the hell ive asked every guild etc.. and nothing on this guy. If anyone has some info to help me out with this im on Maelin server. Last piece for 1.0 so i can do turn ins and such for 1.5 would be willing to MQ it also for some PPs if anyone has the piece.

# Nov 18 2004 at 11:16 AM Rating: Decent
Does he still spawn on the throne in the undead tower, near #11 on the eq-atlas map? Ive been checking for WEEEEKs now (as he is the last mob i need for my 1.0) And he is never up :(

Keeper of the Tombs does indeed spawn below room 11 on EQ Atlas, killed him with a full party today. Fight was not hard by any standards, just clear a path so you dont get adds.

He now spawns in an area just above what I think was called the "Vault". The map on EQ Atlas http://www.eqatlas.com/holemap.html shows this room unmarked, it's just barely south-west of #11 on the map. Approx. location is neg 300, pos 275 according to the map.

It's a hazardous area with quite a few mobs to kill on the way in outside the courtyard. Once inside the building, turn right then a quick left to the first (and only) doorway on your right. The door is locked and you'll need the skills of a good rogue to get it open. Inside are about 5 mobs, including the Keeper if he's up.

He stands on top of a chair directly across from the locked door of the room. Because of how he stands on top of the chair, you can't see his name unless you target him.

As a side note, the Enchanter's epic NPC is also in the area, just outside the building, on the left side of the courtyard.

We took him down last Sunday. He was at neg300, pos300 on this map. http://www.eqatlas.com/hole2map.html

As others have said he is trackable. We had a raid of 12 average level 57. No one died and our Paladin got her drop.
Some Info
# Feb 25 2004 at 10:26 AM Rating: Decent
The Keeper is trackable quite a bit before you reach the undead tower, he is on the first floor, go into the tower and take either a right or a left and go into the hall that connects both wings, there are 2 undead guarding the locked door. The Keeper spawns inside. As for the Ghost of Kindle, she actually spawns outside the tower now, saw her a couple nights ago, to the left of the tower entrance, right in the corner of the courtyard. Hope this info helps.

Spawn Spot
# Nov 24 2003 at 12:20 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, Im helpin my pally friend with this last epic drop he needs. Im a bit unclear of new spawn spot after revamp of Keeper of the Tomb. Some say that its in the courtyard almost to the northern most part of the zone. Some others are saying that it spawns closer to where the Ranger epic kill is (building to the left of the tunel leading to ranger kill). Im goin down there everyday for a week now and yet to see him in either spot. Am I looking in the right place. Please help..! It really hasnt been a big deal checking the camp with SoS, but today, I had a mob see through SoS. One, I was dead, and 2, I was pretty ticked that a gimp mob saw through SoS. Please help if you can as to where this new spawn spot is. And if u also know where Ghost of Kindle's new spawn spot is as well, Please let me know. Thanks

Is this guy trackable from the zone in point with a 200 skill lvl?

Nope.

I just tried tracking The Ghost of Kindle today with my ranger from the zone line (200 tracking), and it didn't show up on track til we got quite a bit closer.

Since the revamp, Keeper of the Tombs and The Ghost of Kindle spawn around the same area, so I expect similar resutls tracking Keeper of the Tombs.

Cheers,

Where did you get the key? My guild went there last night and killed ALOT of mobs en route to the Keeper's new location but what is the name of the key and do you know what dropped it? Is it random? Was very frustrating to get there and see him finally up, but not be able to target him thru the locked door :(

Edit: oops, meant to respond to the post below this one, where it was mentioned they had the key.

1 group of 65s is overkill. Hits kinda hard for the mobs in that area but easy none-the-less. He is pacifiable. The sword drop is "Tainted Darksteel Sword" and is No Drop. The Keeper of the Tombs is behind a LOCKED door which has a key that must be looted in order to pass that door. I am unsure as to whether a rogue or bard can lockpick it as we had the key.
New Location
# Sep 08 2003 at 11:05 PM Rating: Decent
The Keeper of the Tombs is now located at -150, 260 in the same building as the new spawn location for Kirn.

Took him down rather quickly with a raid force of about 3 groups lvls 59-65.

I believe the building is the tower behind the bank - you get to the plaza with the tunnel that leads down pass Jaeil and omto the Echo of Nortlav, etc - its in that plaza in the East building - head through it to the back. He is on the first floor.

Well, after some trial and error, I can outline a relatively easy way to get a force into close proximity to the epic mobs that spawn deep within the Hole without having to clear through the city (which is a complete pain in the ****** This method does work while Yael is up.

First, you need to powerlevel a brell cleric to level 14. The cleric needs the three spells divine aura, invis to undead, and reanimation, if you want to go totally barebones.

Get the cleric to paineel, bind him right at the pit that drops you into the hole. Have the cleric divine aura and dive in, he'll land in the middle of a bunch of elementals, golems, flighty fiends, and master yael (if he's up). All these mobs should ignore you since you're a brell worshiper. Run up the passage that leads to the castle full of undead and epic mobs. ITU so none of the undead will aggro, run past the entrance to the castle, around the corner, and you'll be on a ledge overlooking master yael's spawn. Park the cleric here, we'll come to him later.

Next, you'll need to have a 55+ mage in your raid party. have everyone in the raid party zone into the hole, no need to fight the entrance mobs, just sit around. Have someone duel the mage to kill him without exp loss. Now, take a level 1 brell worshiping halfling rogue, use sneak/hide and drag the mage's corpse all the way down through the city and to the spot where the level 14 cleric is parked. Have the cleric reanimate the mage, get the mage grouped with the halfling rogue, have the rogue sneak back to the entrance, or even easier make sure he's bound right outside the Hole entrance in Paineel and just have him run up to a mob and ask it for a free port to bind, any way you do it, have him in the entrance to the zone so he can invite people for Call of the Hero. CotH your entire raid party into position, assemble your groups, and presto! You're right near all the epic mobs, you're really close to master yael, and you didn't have to kill a thing. In the event that you don't have a mage that can cast Call of the Hero, it is possible to simply corpse your entire raid party and drag all their corpses through the zone. In this situation, I strongly reccomend that each person at the raid bring their own level 1 halfling rogue, because I had to drag five corpses through the Hole last night and it was not only extremely difficult (ended up making a ton of macro keys to target and summon corpses) but it also took about an hour and twenty minutes.

Hope this helps, and good luck.
(note: copies of this post will be placed in the discussion of the important epic mobs in the bestiary section, as well as under the main Hole strategy discussion. I'm not trying to spam, just trying to make it so anyone looking for info on their epic mob can find this strategy quickly and easily)

This is going to sound complicated, but follow the steps, and you'll be deep in the hole quickly, safely and painlessly. This trick works to get to most epic mobs including Jaeil, Keeper, Kirn, and the Ghost of Kindle (chanter epic, I think that's her name).

What you'll need:

- a level 55+ magician
- a good enchanter or two
- a clean pair of shorts
- a few of the following classes: Paladins, Shadow Knights, Clerics, Necros. Mix and match is fine. Make sure you have at least four characters that fall into any of these classes.

Make a level one halfing brell-worshipping rogue. Bind him or her in Paineel. I would say make a level 65 rogue, but you can only make level one characters...

Bring your level one halfling brell worshipping rogue to the pit where Yael spawns and pray he's not up. If he is, forget it. You will need to fight in the long way. If he's not up, park there and log back onto your main character.

1. Have all necros and shadow knights mem Harm Shield. Have all paladins and clerics mem Divine Aura. Do this now because it takes a few minutes before the spell comes up to cast.
2. Create your groups. Classic grouping. Put a healer in each group. Make sure enchanter is grouped with a cleric, etc. etc.
3. Have all paladins, shadow knights, necromancers, and clerics disband and form a "sub-group." Make sure they take note of their group and group leader before they disband, because they will be rejoining them later.
4. Have everyone that's not in a pally/sk/necro/cleric subgroup zone into the hole through the rock in the pond.
5. Have the pally/sk/necro/cleric sub-group(s) cast Divine Aura or Harm Shield and drop down the big hole in Paineel IMMEDIATELY after they cast.
6. Your subgroups will have to kill two or 3 mobs as soon as they land. This shouldn't pose much of a problem.
7. Log onto your Halfling Brell-worshipping Level One Rogue. Invite a necro or SK.
8. Kill yourself and zone back in through the rock in paineel.
9. Invite the magician.
10. Kill the magician.
11. Have the necro in your group summon the magician.
12. Have a cleric or pally rez the magician.
13. Begin CotHing, inviting people for CotH with your Level One Halfling Brell-worshipping Rogue.
14. Disband your sub-group(s) and have them rejoin their original groups.

**As an alternative, if you have a suicidal mage, you can just have him drop down from paineel and rez him, without worrying about the summon corpse bit, but it's polite to offer to do the summon corpse so he doesn't lose any xp for your epic.**

And you're good to go. You only need to go up the tunnel a little way with a few spawns along the way. This way is SOOO much easier than fighting your way through the city, and it saves a lot of time.
spawn time
# Nov 02 2002 at 1:28 AM Rating: Decent
I have heard his spawn time is 7-10days but I found it to be more like a 5 day spawn at the quickest. Easiest way to keep track of this is to make a crappy lvl 1 rogue assling - MUST worship Brell. Then PoP port over to Paineel, sneak by guards (KOS) and make your way down to the Hole- You can crouch fit through the hole in the rock then for the most part you can walk without sneak down to the Undead Tower. I found I was only KOS to the undead - so I sneaked rest of way down there. So now my perma camped rogue is chillin outside of Undead tower next to the ledge - hehe 5 more days till I can take him out again =)
Paladin epic
# Oct 25 2002 at 5:37 AM Rating: Decent
Took this guy out easy. My force consisted of
60 Paladin(me)
58 Paladin
58 Monk
59 Cleric(controlled by monk)
60 Enchanter
60 Warrior
54 Druid(out of group, controlled by monk)

Had no problems pulling and clearing all the way down to the undead, then setting up, pulled the keeper, and wasted him.
Warrior didnt drop below 2 bubs the whole fight, and never used defensive. Basically, if you can get a force down there, hes dead at your feet, guaranteed.
