Found near the shaman's guild in East Cabilis. You can perhaps get to him easier if you use the tunnels in the water.

  • Maximum hit: 315
  • This mob spawns at 532, -834.
  • Respawn Timer: Nine hours after being killed and from five to fourteen hours after zone or server reset.

Froggito's post has been cited as "very helpful":

His location in East Cabilis is (532, -834), but what most people fail to mention is that you CANT get to him by jumping in the water and swimming up through 1 of the holes.

Here is my strategy for this mob start to finish.

1st - of all, when running through Cabilis, use invis, NOT iksar illusion. Only about 1/2 the mobs change from kos while in illusion so invis you way through the city for sure.

2nd - to get into the sewers, you have to enter through the shaman/sk guild area. You use the red glowing walls to get up into the building, climb to the roof, and decend down the ladders on the east side. They will take you to the sewers.

3rd - once you find your way to the sewer, you're going to drop down a massive hole in the floor and thats when you can begin your search. Cast LEVITATE otherwise youre going to run in circles, each of the 1st 3 hallways have invisible traps in the floor that drop you to a 1 way exit back to the sewer entrance. there are several 1 way walls in here to its important to take your time, look at the map and plan your route. If you get lost or stuck and have to swim out through the water, its ok, just invis your way back up and in and try a different rout. I got lucky and only had to restart once. The first correct direction I can point you in (once you get to the 3 hallways w/ the invisible trap floors) is to take the one to the west. Yes its going in the opposite direction at first but the turns/path lead you right around back to him. The room hes standing in is a square with a hallway leading to the right (i believe south on the map).

4th - The Fight - the best strategy to fight this guy is to pull him into the water (via that hallway south I mentioned). I say this because he does run at 20% and he'll leave you behind if he walks through 1 of the walls that you are unable to. If you pull him to the water, he'll swim around but you can always stay close up on him.

5th - Fight Info - I believe he's classified as an SK. When you fight him, make sure you bring some MELEE dps. When i fought him, I was a 62 enchanter and he resisted every single one of my spells. When I went to fight him, my group consisted of me (62enc) and a 63 beastlord. Both of us were geared in mostly defiant gear. Along with us we had a tank merc and a healer merc. So in total there was 4. Although it was really 3 since I was useless the whole fight.

The fight only lasted about 2 minutes. He ran as expected once he hit 20% hp. He his pretty hard at around 200-300 but the healer merc had no issues keeping everyone above 90% hp. Was a very clean fight, tank merc held the agro and the beastlord used his pet and melee to take him down. It might me a bit more challenging if you're doing it in your low-mid 50s, but the strategy of bringing him to the water and needed melee dps is still the same.

I cant speak to whether or not he'll be up when you look for him. From what I've read, he has a respawn of 2-7 days. I can't confirm since he was up when I went looking for him. The drop is 100% i believe so you shouldn't have to do this more than once.

Tried to kill this guy with 65 clr 63 chanter and me 65 bst. With just pet on him his hps go down very slow. With me and clr in melee he go down pretty fast. As everybody we got the trouble when he runs out of his room. When he got up to 25% i called my pet back and the mob followed him coming to me with 50%hp.

I decide to let it go as clr was oom. We choose to take water strategy but water make our dps to go down. We brought it to 30% and had to run out cause clr was oom again.

Next time i'll bring it down to 30-40 and then push it in water.

I'll rewrite when i got the kill. No need lot more then an other dps class to make it quite easy.

Never done this fight before today. Found lot of the info very useful. Here is what we did, and what we should have done lol.

What we did: Zone into cab from fob, eb/buff/invis at zone. Head to underwater tunnels at p580 n400. Take second exit up out of water and regroup at p400 n730. Group was 65war, rog, bst, 64enc, 60cle. Move north in hall to wall, then turn right and quick left puts you one room away from Vessel pos580 n760. Look east you will see Vessels room and hopefully him, I did ; D he spawn at loc p590 n826. We charge him and beat him down in about 30 seconds . . . he runs lol I knew it.

I have no idea his pathing when he runs on low health. Group scatters looking for him and I head back to his spawn room after he fully regens. He comes back and starts beating on me and Im there solo lol /hug conterattack. After we all get back to his spawn room I suggest pulling him to water. Drag him to loc p475 n860 and drop him in the well. Yes he summons but you will get him there eventually. In water we killed him in 1 min or so, surprisingly runs veeeeery slow in water when low on health.

What you should do: Never try and fight him in caves, simple fight in water voila you done. Don't waste time or mana slowing/debuffing, melee his **** and heal your tank. Invis up, swim out and run back to fob zone, go keel other stuff 8 D.

A 30 second fight took us about 5 mins to complete from chasing him around and we wasted our offensive discs bleh.

Good map is at http://maps.eq-toolbox.com/ clik on the VIEW button to right for Cabeast1.txt. Great site for all maps and downloadable for installation in EQ directory, instructions there. All locs above are from in game or off that map. G'luck all hope this helps.

# Dec 15 2003 at 12:55 PM Rating: Decent
Fought him 4 times last night and it went like this....

The first time we went after him with 65 Pal, 65 Chanter, 63 Wiz and a 65 Shm. We didnt even dent him, his regen is un real, he resists like crazy so to save rebuff and CR time i called EVAC. He was at 97 %..... So, had a friend of working on leveling a war and had him bring up a 65 BST. Buffed and headed in. I think we finaly got a malo to land around 60 % and he was dotted good and at 20 he started walking, well from ohter posts you see what happens. I circled around to catch him and couldnt find him. We tried a few more times, pulling him to the buff room and he walks through another door, we actually had him to 3 % once hehe. Now I see here about pulling to the water, have to try that and the Idea did cross my mind last night but was concerned about adds. The 5 of us could handle the hits and crank out the dameage needed, but you cant root him or stun him or snare him, he resists all of it and with Pious Might going off consistently during the fight it never landed once. As for how to find him, it much easier to swim to him, enter East Cabillis, move left around first building and youll see a bridge, go to bridge, get wet and go under the boat landing on the left follow aqueduct in and pop up in the second hole. Its a deep hole so it takes some effort to get out into the tunnels. Get out, go straight to the first RIGHT go the the next LEFT and go down to the first opening i think, he spawns in a room on the right. Iksar holding a staff. He does wander just a bit though so be careful, as he chases mosquitos and skellies out of his room.
Water Kill
# Dec 06 2003 at 2:11 AM Rating: Decent
Well, we tested it, and yes, pulling this feller into the water works. He just can't swim fast enough to get away. Nice and easy kill, you can kill him with a good bit smaller crew than it takes to get him on land. Then again, the warrior we had doing most of the damage has all the aas he could need, and we had a rogue on the side. As a chanter, I couldn't land anything but tash and mana draining spells, so I spent the fight sucking out all his mana. Not real sure how handy that was, all things considered. Anyway, water is your friend.
Take down
# Nov 21 2003 at 2:01 AM Rating: Decent
Just took him down tonight. His regen is INCREDIBLE. 65 warrior and 65 SK were barely making dents in him. Tried again this time with 65 druid and 65 beastlord and we were able to take him down quickly. Trick is to have someone send pet in then call them back off. When the hit the wall and can't go through tank steps up and taunts him to attack. Drozlin will come through wall and pet can be summoned by caster. Then take Drozlin to the left of his room down the hall near the pit and fight him there. As he walks away when he hits 20% life you will have a much longer time to kill him before he hits one way wall.

I had a few questions about this guy before I actually found him and I figured I should share what I learned...

Vessel Drozlin is a level 60 Shadow Knight. He will spawn at location 590, -840 in the tunnels below the shaman guild. He can also harm touch.

While I was sitting around watching him and waiting for my forces to arrive I noticed him buffing himself occasionally and fearing the mosquitos and scorpions that walk around and then run after them and kill them.

The other information here is correct, he has high MR and PR and regen and he WILL walk thru the one way walls. He also does hit for 315 dmg.

I hope that helps. The only thing I haven't learned yet is his spawn time.
Question re: one-way walls
# Nov 17 2003 at 3:06 PM Rating: Decent
I have never been Call of the Heroed so I do not know what the cast and recast times are on it. Would it be possible to take a couple of mages down there and keep one on each side of the one-way wall. That way when Vessel runs, the mage can start CotHing people to that side? The cast and recast times may make this impracticle.

No you cant use the CoH tactic againcst VD because there are more then one (one-way walls)... there is a whole serries of them and by the time you got 3 peeps CoHd he would already be through the next two or three walls

<please does someone out there know his spawn time... he was up last night, SOE patched this mornin, and now he is gone...> very dissapointed chanter
Attempted with 3 people
# Oct 23 2003 at 2:16 AM Rating: Decent
Did this guy about a week ago. First attempt was with a 65 enchanter, 65 mage and 65 shaman. Mage and shaman engaged pets, then I tashed. The shaman didn't have malo or malos, so the mage had to use malas. Even with both debuffs we couldn't get him slowed. When he was at about 60% health the mage and shaman went OOM from healing the pet, we had to gate. Came back the next day with 65 Enchanter, 65 Shaman, 65 Mage, 59 Ranger, 65 Cleric and 57 Warrior. Buffed up and engaged him, still couldn't land a damn slow. Got him down to about 20% health and he started to walk, couldn't snare because magic resist was to high. He went the wrong way through a 1 way door and we couldn't follow. When he went through the door he disapeared. We started swiming around and looking all over for him, couldn't find. Eventually we found him, back at his spawn point, full health and we had no agro some how. 2nd attempt was better. We pulled him out of the room he was in, through the 1 way door into the buffing room. Got him down to about 20% and he started to run again, went the wrong way through another 1 way door again and we lost him. Luckily the mage pet was on him, but this guy has massive regen. During the fight when the warrior would back up to reposition him from push, his % hp's started going back up, and while the mage pet was chasing him through the doors, his hp would go 1%-0%-1%-0%1%-0%-dead. Defenently have a solid group, and make sure the shaman has malo or malos or you probably won't get him slowed.
Question?
# Oct 05 2003 at 3:56 PM Rating: Decent
I have a few questions i couldn't find answers to....

Can he be snared or rooted? Stunned? Mezzed? Charmed? Each one of these can be used to either stop, slow or reposition him if you do it right.

Just a question. I am getting ready to help my wife get this one started.

Fought this character last night. 59 Paladin, 57 Monk, 58 Warrior, 53 Rogue, 56 Enchanter, and 55 Cleric. We got our "privates" handed to us on a fur lined platter. This guy has a massive regen ability. We got him down to 54% before the cleric went OOM, and both tanks and the rogue went down. The monk FD'd and the cleric camped. The rogue managed to pull him out of the room before dying. My guess is that the mob was regenerating around 100 HP per tick. Next time, we bring more DPS and a 2nd cleric.

He has high Magic and Poison resist and can harm touch for about 960.

Pull to water?
# Sep 06 2003 at 2:24 PM Rating: Decent
Would it be possible to pull him underwater and try to fight him with a raid that has eb (item or spell) so he doesnt run through one way doors?
Strategy to take him down
# Sep 06 2003 at 10:30 AM Rating: Excellent
We had a chanter with us that has done him before, he has changed. HE can now walk true the one way doors wrong way.
first off al, we took him down with one team.can easyly be done what i recomend is this. Go true the tunnels uself and know em well.

Strategy 1

Bring 2 teams with you. first get him down to about 20ich pct hp, then he wil flee true 1 way door wrong way, give it all the dps u got at this time.
If he manages to get true door, take team 2 with you and go around with em and place em on other side of 1 way door, the sec vessel returns to his orginal room(he comes back when regend).
(what i mean is when he returns get team 1 to fight him and take team 2 around to other side of 1 one way door he goes wrong way)
Team 1 should be able to get him down to 20 pct and he wil do same again, then when he goes wrong way true 1 way door again, team 2 ambush him on other side , but give it all u got to take the last pct hp he got.
He wil continue and go true more 1 way doors if u aint fast enough.

Strategy 2.
This is what we did not sure it always worked, we had 1 team, when he went true 1 way doors when low on hp i ruched the team to "buff room"(can see whats buff room on the tread were to find him).
Its imp u stay in this place now , dont let people run all over the place
Whait here til he comes back, fight him down again he wil retreat again so u cant follow, when we had done this 3 or 4 times, he finaly didnt retreat and we killed him there in buff room.
Im not 100pct sure why he didnt retreat last time, might be just luck, but got the feeling this was the way sony has planed the fight now.

Importent.
If you dont know were all the 1 way doors are and the tunnels and trap floor are when u begin you wil have a extremly though task infront of you with much confussen in team/s.
Let all know what to do so people dont run true one way doors, and you have some people here and some there when fight beginns.

Also i found out jumping out of the pool can be done at most lvl but hers the clue, you must have high swim skil to jump out. 1 in my team had skill 60 only, i had to talk him around true tower.

Best of luck
Channey 60 chanter.
Here is the location
# Sep 04 2003 at 5:22 PM Rating: Excellent
To follow this you need LOY map function,
First enter East Cabilis(best way true pok bok)
Then go to the big pool.
Turn on map function with backspace and press "height filter" so you see all layers.

Jump into the pool and you wil see a tunnel under pool on east side (marked blue on map)swim into it.

Here is were most go wrong, there are 4 places you can swim up for air into the tunnel now(only 3 marked on the in game map, becouse nr 1 you cant jump out off.I count all 4 when i say which you should use)

Jump out of air pocket nr 2 of the 4.(i have seen people write it dont matter what lvl you are but i did not manage to jump out with my lvl 1 charecter myself.)
Too jump out just look almost directly up and keep swimming into the edge(your charecter wil try and autojump, no need to press space) this often dont work at once try more times at dif places do you cant jump out from corners and u must not see straight up but almost.

From here go straight foward on map(north) til you hit the wall, then go a few feet to the right to you hit the wall(east), here you must turn left(north) to countinue. go a few feet more and you see a ALMOST round room on in game map.
This wil be your team/s buff room, If you look to your right from this room(east) you will see true a inviseble one way door into another round room( you can only see the door from the other side, and can only pass true it from the side you are on now.(the other room you see into looks identical to the one you are in on the in game map, by that i mean kinda round. It is in this room he spawns Location in this room is P591 N826.

When you are in the room i refered to as the buff room, dont be afraid of him, same as you when hes in that room, he can not go true the special door into buff room.

Another good thing to know, if hes up he wil kill all mobs passing him, scorps and such and you should see the spam of this fare away.

I hope this tread has helped you, plz rate it in return so others can see its useful if you thought so=)
RE: Here is the location
# Sep 06 2003 at 7:53 AM Rating: Decent
Just some Aditional information on loc, i have now seen there are actualy alot of spots you can go up for air in tunnel(most cant exit from) the one to exit, is the first you can jump out of, by that i mean the first marked on loy map. Or the secound you can go up for air, is one air pocket before this in tunnel.
All other information is correct, he spawned at that location after about 24 hrs whaiting, duno if he had been killed long before i looked first time do.
HT on wanderers?
# Jul 27 2003 at 11:37 PM Rating: Decent
Well, i saw Vessel up once and noticed he was running around smacking the scorpions and such. So i was wondering, will he use up his HT on those weak mobs? If we leave him up a bit before we kill him would it be easier without the HT? or is that not much of a problem? Got a 63 war that could be main tank so not sure if HT would be a big problem with 2 clerics watching him. Thanks!

I could be mistaken, but I don't think he's a shadowknight.
RE: HT on wanderers?
# Oct 23 2003 at 2:19 AM Rating: Decent
He is in fact a SK and yes he uses HT on wandering mobs. I ran a lvl 1 Iksar down there to camp at his spawn to keep and eye on him. I had a few skeletons on me, about my 10th attempt to make it to him alive. He HTed one mob and killed the other few. I watched for his harm touch and yes " a decaying skeleton writhes in the grip of agnony " is what I saw. Plus when I killed him with my Enchanter he snared the warrior and lifetaped a few times.

# Jul 26 2003 at 4:52 PM Rating: Decent
Please Please PLease someone help with some better directions of where and how to get to this mob?

I have gone though the portal in the Shamans guild, gone all the way to the bottom and dropped down the hole between the broken bridge. All I can ever do is find my back to the other side of the bridge.

Also I have tried swimming to the area where the Iksar Outcasts are and was un-able to find anything tha looks like the map I am using from the other posts.

Am I in the right area at all???

Killed both Verina Tomb and Vessel Drozlin on Sol Ro server on the evening of July 18th. Yes, to my suprise both were up!

I hadn't really started checking for these mobs yet (dreading the long camp). Had just killed the gorilla in FoB and I figured I would check on Verina. After we killed her, I figured I would check on Drozlin. Talk about luck...

He was much harder than Verina, resisted everything I threw at him. After losing him through the walls a few times we ended up pulling him to the sewer entrance closest to him (spot where you come up from the water). He ended up falling into the water but at least there aren't any walls he can go through to escape in there.

Ok,
Here is the scoop, no bs no bragging just some real information for those who wanna take this guy out for those chanters(tresses) who are doing their epic.
1. Bring 2 groups. Should consist of 2 clerics, 2 druids (for back up and dots), 1 shaman (for slow), 4 tanks and you, try to average 58+. Should be easy with that.
2. Drozlin has extreemly high MR, what i mean by that is I (lvl 60 chanter) could not Slow, Cripple, DoT him, my Nuke hit for 15hp damage.
Thats why you bring the shaman, their slows are not magic based checked.
3. Don't forget that the passageways in the catacombs are one way in some parts. This could really ***** things up if you get "pushed" through the right passage while you are fighting him (as you will not be able to get back into room).
My group of 6 took him out (60 pally, 60 druid, 56 pally, 53 rogue, 60 cleric, 60 chanter), but our healers (yes both) went oom just as he turned, we got LUCKY. Dont underestimate this guy, and dont be in a hurry also. Have fun.

Vessel solo'ed by a 65 SK
# Jun 11 2003 at 7:31 PM Rating: Decent
He can't be *that* hard.

My lvl 65 Human SK friend solo'ed him.

He was claiming mob for me while I put a group together, and he got bored and started to attack. FD'ed and got bored again so he figured he would give it a shot. Well, just as I got to him with my group, I see him go down at the hands of one 65 SK with no outside healing.

I'm not bragging, as it was not me who did this. Just letting everyone know that you don't need too much overkill. (I had a two group raid with 3 clerics, and you can imagine the disappointment when we rushed the mob and he falls right in front of us.)

But yay! Xolion Rod with little to no effort. :)

He went down today on Xev with the following group:

60 Cler, 55 War, 56 Rang, 65 Chanter, 57 Mage, 56 Mage, 56 Wiz, 58 Cleric

You WILL need two Clerics for this, both clerics were at about 35m when fight ended.

Also we fought him in his room. If you pop up in the first opening from the underground river, and go in his room from that direction, when he tries to run he will walk the correct way out of a one-way door, then get stuck in the corner until he dies. No problems.

He is VERY magic resistant. Even Tashed/Mage debuffed I never got a spell off on him (65 Chanter here). Only spell that landed was a 20pct Proc off the warrior. We were too caster-heavy but he went down in about 3 minutes.

Also, he was up for at least 24 hours before I killed him, does not seem to be a very contested spawn anymore.

took him down 5-10-03. Had a 56 cleric, 52 cleric, 61 mage, 58 mage, 58 BST, and myself (61 ranger) tanking. One of the clerics main was an enchanter, but we figured we needed extra heals with me tanking :)

We did pull him around to a room we thought would be better for when he ran... and he did run through a wall, but the 3 pets were able to finish him off...

he was very if not totally magic resistant, and he resisted many of the mage's and my own nukes, some fire DD's did land, but he's not that bad, just need one strong group, took us maybe 2-3 minutes to drop him

Well, we just tried Vessel (TRY being the operative word here). We had

51 Enchanter (me)
53 Paladin
54-ish monk
57 BL
60 Cleric
60 Warrior
59 Warrior
65 Rogue
58 Wizard

We had enough melee. After SEVERAL minutes of fighting we had him down to 40% health, but our Cleric went OOM, then we all proceeded to die, one-by-one.

Bring tons of healing, his reen is beyond insane. Worse than Cazel from what I can tell.

Possible bugged version....

We encounted a problem with this mob have insane regen. We went down with 65 paladin, 65 cleric, 55 ench. Well, I couldn't do damage faster than he regen'd so we brought down a 61 necro.

With the necro pet and dots we could get him down, but at 20 percent he would run through the 1 way doors, and we couldn't follow.

In the end we were successful, this is the story....

First, we decided to pull him to a different spot so we would have more time to kill him before he got through those @#$# doors. If you look at this map www.eqmaps.com/m3/cabliscat.jpg you see in the center (this is the first map of cabilis at eqmaps if that link doesn't work) a green circle. This is where we pulled him to, its a pain to pull, but is done without any adds. We fought him in the bottom of that pit.

He runs into the caverns to the east and then up the stairs back into the dungeon area. So basically you gotta get him down before he gets to the first 1-way door which is up near his spawn point. There are a couple invis walls where he runs, but they were 2-way.

With our group of four we nearly had him twice from this pull spot. Then a 65 monk came down to help and it was a piece of cake, he got through the first invis wall and died.

My suggestion is as much much melee damage as possible. He was very MR, no snare, no roots, no stuns, no slows...Necro taps landed very well as did fire based dots/dd's. Didn't try cold, so I don't know about that. At higher levels MR nukes did land occasionally for low-end partial damage.

We were quite taken by surprise on this encounter, so felt I'd post so the next person hopefully won't get caught off guard like we did. This was a pretty tough mob. He did have the strange regen that was mentioned before, not sure if that is a bug or just a lack of melee damage though.

Hope this helps someone.

His max hit was about 315pts. Not particularly fast but like Enantiomer says above a huge regen component. I had a 54th paladin, 55th enchanter, 53rd cleric, and a 51st bard and we got him to 98% at best before he killed me and then the cleric. No slows and no enchanter DoTs landed at all.

Saw your post, so we brought 2 groups for 1 of our ench. Found him in sewer where he is supposed to be. Pally tank, 2 clerics, and a random mix of mages, druids, sham and some others. Sham couldn't land slow, but no matter. One CH on pally and he was dead.

Man, you were just unlucky, I guess.

Bugged version ?

Recently made a number of attempts at killing Vessel Drozlin on Kane Bayle. First attempt he was in his usual place in the tunnels with the one way doors. Group consisted of 62 Ench, 60 War, 61 Clr, 61 Dru, 54 Wiz. This same group had totally distroyed Verina Tomb in no time at all. Became very clear after a number of minutes of beating on him that he was not going to die. Lowest we got him was 96pct. Evacced. Came and read up here about a possible bugged version so petitioned. Guide told me that they had heard of this 'bugged' version and would pass my petition to a GM. Shortly after a GM spoke to me and said that Vessel was NOT bugged and the GM had been able to damage him and was satified that Vessel's hp were consistant with an epic mob.

So a few days later added a level 62 Monk with SoFW to the team and a 42 SK to eat the HT. We headed down to the tunnels got set up and I went to pull. No Vessel. Now on any other server this would be no surprise. On Kane its most unusual. Then Druid checked track. Vessel Drozlin was on track. So followed Druid until we found him. Above ground and in a totally different part of Cabilis. We made one attempt in one location but a Crusader added and partially wiped us. So we then picked our pull spot more carefully and the fight began. Was a LONG fight, a VERY LONG fight. It seemed as if we could not beat him, his hp went down but so did cleric's mana. Eventually a system evolved. Cleric would start CH at 40pct. I would cast Rune to cover and CH would land around 10 to 20pct of War HP. Eventually Vessel turned and ran at 19pct. Then the problems began. He is (as far as I can determine) 100pct MR. Cannot be stunned, rooted, or snared. Any attempts to land Slow or Cripple were also resisted. Of course he was tashed. Given the location we had little time to try to get the last 19pct off him and a number of Crusaders and Troopers piled in and wiped us before we managed to kill Vessel. After the fight the monk parsed his log file. We had done something in the region of 60k of damage over 11 minutes. How much of this was true hp and how much was hp with regen is very hard to determine.

I think it is fair to assume that this particular epic mob has recieved an upgrade, and having made an enquiry as to his status was repopped in a very tricky part of Cabilis to kill. Either a patch will place him back in a more accessable location or next time I'm bringing an army.
