For those players who aren't aware of how to use the loc system, this mob spawns towards the top middle of the zone, marked on the map with NPCs Nenika Lightfoot just north of the "bandit camp"

He was light blue to my 68 SHD and put out a fair amount of damage. Dropped the white paper.

On to the turn in!

We had a successful hunt last night with this lil nasty. We had our 55 chanter parked at the turn in point, and a 55 Paladin, 67 Mage, 63 Mage, and a 67 Cleric at the spawn point (pos 800, neg 11500). Enchanter did the turn in and Thrackin immediately popped in the bandit group in front of us. Mage used Call of Hero to poof the chanty to the fight. Pally pulled the mob and proceeded to get beat on heavily. Chanter was able to tash, all others resisted. Mage pets were very helpful, but the mages were almost completely resisted (67 mage landed a 3k blow). Cleric kept the heals flowing. It was an extended fight, but felt pretty safe with this group. Another tank would have really sped things up. Chanter looted his white paper. everyone cheered, and then gated out...except the poor paly who had to run half way across one of the longest zones in the game, hehe.

I had trouble finding him at first with my chanty so i logged my ranger to track him down and finally found him. I took him down with my 65 shammy 5.3k hp and self buffed. He was a lot harder than i had imagined, resisted slow three times after malo. After slow stuck he was easy. Good luck !

Soloed at lvl 64.... yea, waited for a while to start epic. Trick is to buff up and get toys for pet. Thrackin is not magig res contrary to other posts I have seen. Tash, slow, cripple and a few dots to start. Keep casting Rune of Z on pet, throw in an occassional nuke, and you are good to go. I actually lost pet when he was at 7%. Ran and he dropped off, loaded horse, medded, new pet up w/ haste, then back at him. His regen rate is nada. After abt 2 min he was still at 7%. Hope this helps... save guildie faction for a group til later....

btw... droped fine steel "short" swords, not long swords

Did this tonight, 2 of him spawnd one near Cleet the brewing merchant and one near the bandit group on the north east side of the zone. approx neg 1416, neg 5870 (Cleet) and the pos 880, neg 11570 (bandit group) both locs look to be correct.

Helped a guildie take him out today. There were five in group, all over 65 (not 100% on all levels). Enchanter, Shaman, Ranger, Paladin, and a druid. We buffed and waited for spawn which was near the north bandit camp up in the mountains. As he walked away the ranger followed and pelted with arrows. We DoTed and hit him with everything we had. Easy kill for HL group. Did very minor damage to ranger and pally. He will summon you.

For chanter epic we took down Thracken today. DB to 56, hits for 140-170 and DW's fine steel swords.

Had 62 RNG, 65 CLR, 56 ENC. Ranger hacked him up, took a few CH's. Only spells I saw land were tash (unresistable), 3 out of 6 chanter DDs and 1 out of 3 or 4 cleric DDs. Highly resistant but not immune. Didn't say was slow immune, but I couldn't land slow. Tried about 5 or 7 times 'till mob was at 30%, then went to chaining Dementia. Should have done that from the start LOL. Got one full damage and two partial lands on the DD. I bound myself just south of Thracken's spawn so I could gate in to help cleric and ranger. Kinda fast, but doesn't hit hard enough to need a plate wearer. Spawn point is near spawn for some regular green con bandits, so no worries about anything adding. Did I miss anything? I think that covers all the questions I had when I went after this guy.

Illusion pet soloing

I soloed this guy tonight. I do not have dire charm and wont be getting it unless they make an upgrade that lets you get higher pets. I'm a 65 chanter with kinda crummy gear, FT1, and 38 aa, including gather mana and MC3. I summoned illusion pet and buffed us both. The only non-self buff I had was PoTC. I used scarecrow illusion on pet and scaled wolf on me. I did the parchment/quill hand in and ran to the spawn point. The approximate location 800, -11570 given on the quest page is accurate. There are 4-5 low level bandits near him, but they were too low level to aggro me. He was up when I got there and I aggroed and raptured him, then tashed, slowed, crippled, weakened and broke mezz with asphyxiate. Be prepared for close to 50% resist rate even at level 65. Then I tanked him with my pet providing DPS. I kept both arcane rune and rune of zeb up as much as possible. I reslowed him when he was at 50 percent hp, and then gathered mana. Continued runing myself and refreshed other debuffs as they wore off. He ran away quite slowly at around 5-7 percent hp and pet finished him off. Total fight was about 6 or 7 minutes. He is mezzable and rootable although root resists a LOT and I definitely recommend using rapture to mezz. He summons a LOT. If you get more than a few feet from him you will get summoned back almost instantly. If you are going to solo him this way either gather mana or high FT is neccesary. Hope this helps everyone who likes to do it the hard way :D

i am a 65 chanter. i managed to do this with a dire charm pet and a 65 necro. i DC'ed the rouge epic npc vilinus the small as suggested here. vilinus pops at 10pm game time at +175 -6700. there will be a ph in his spot that depops at 8pm game time. i charmed vilinus without mezzing first..i figured if he resisted dc he was gonna resist mez and i was going to have to run anyways . then i walked back to the spawning point of thrackin. i binded at the spot and put my dc on guard there.( the necro waited there to engage the mob when he popped) i then ran to the turn in point ( chrislin) and handed her the parchment and quill. she depoped, i gated back to the bind point. the necro had his 65 pet, he could have soloed the mob. my dc pet could have soloed as well due to the amount of hp it had. the mob was tashed but resisted slow the whole fight. the necro reported the mob is poision resistant. it was easy as cake.. a chanter can do it on thier own with the DC pet, but the necro with his pet heal and 65 pet could have soloed it as well. good luck to you

Thanks alot for the info, that's exactly what I was looking for.
To add to this, I am a 62 chanter and I DC'd Vilnus the Small. Hit him with Speed of Vallon and had him guard at the spawn point (where I bound), did the turn in and gated. He had already engaged Thrackin by the time I gated back. Thrackin was working Vilnus even though he was hastened. I couldn't get slow to land on Thrackin though I did manage to get most of one nuke through. Ended up casting Rune of Zeb on Vilnus 5 times to keep him alive and he finished the fight at 2% health but I got my paper. My advice is just have Rune ready and don't be stingy with it. 50p isn't going to break the bank and Thrackin plows through it pretty fast.

On an impromptu trip, myself (52 Chanter), a 63 Shammy, and a 51 Cleric decided to go see what we could do with this guy. Shammy & his pet were buffed with Shammy buffs, SLTW and Temp only. By the time I ran from the turn-in to the spawn point, Thrackin was slowed and down to about 52% (long run even with SoW!). I tashed when I got there, threw in a couple of nukes (highly magic resitant) and kept the Shammy Runed to help the Cleric out with mana. At 20%, the mob turned and started walking away, so we chased after him (don't bother rooting, or he'll either resist or turn to fight, so just fight him on the run to make life easier for everyone). Not long after, he dropped and I got my White Paper. A monk who summons and carries two swords....interesting....

Round 3:59- Paly, 62 - Enc, 57 - Dru spanked this bad boy but good. The toughest part of the fight was pealing him off the Enc for the tash pull and later slow. I placed all 3 char close around him so I could see who had aggroe, and eliminate the summoning that he does do. He does enrage, but just be ready and nuke his brains out when you see the message. For safety sake, slow him before he enrages, you don't want that and him at full speed.

Round 1: was a learning experience 62- Enc, 57 Dru. Pet died at 18%, He turned on Dru as he enraged and slow dropped, Enc could not cast he was so fast, total wipe.

Round 2: Dru did the turn in, got the expo and sash, yet no spawn. Wondering if Enc must do turn in. In any event the most efficient way was to bind on the hill toward Maligar, and gate in after the turn in.

Killed him yesterday: 61 Necro, 65 Cleric, mid-50s Warrior, mid-50s Druid, 61 Beastie, 61 Chanter. Not a hard fight at all, but about the only time I saw his hit point bar go down was each tick when the >600 damage per tick from my DoTs hit him... Funeral Pyre, Vexing Mordania, Pyro, EBolt and something else, AFAIR.

Every spell I used stuck other than Neurotoxin, which he resisted (not sure if the Chanter debuffed his resists). The odd thing is, he didn't care at all about taking over 100DPS from DoTs, but the instant I nuked and he resisted it he summoned me...

Killed this guy last night...First I waited until 10pm game time, then cast see invis on myself and went to loc pos175 neg6700. Found Vilnius The Small (rogue epic Npc) standing there, mezzed him then cast DC. He was an awesome pet, he backstabs for 450 and hits for 150 pretty consistently, has an outrageous regen. Thracken was almost too easy, pulled with Tash and sent pet in. Thracken immediately was chasing me with my pet chasing and backstabbing him, in less than 10 secs my pet had him stopped and fighting toe to toe. I then stopped and cast slow, which stuck first try. Fight lasted less than 2 mins and pet never got below 80% health. So for those Enchanters like myself that solo a lot, you don't need any help at all with this guy, except of course for Vilnius The Small. God luck out there.

Gave paper and quil to Chrislin Baker and spawned him. had 5 peeps to take him out, hasted them and gave them werewolf form to take him down, two tanks attacked him and seemed to have problems killing him so I decided to nuke him, when I did he started to chase after me pounding me to the ground, cleric kept on healing me so the Thrackin got ticked off and ran after the cleric and killed her, then he resummed chasing after me until I died. I did die but my two tanks managed to kill the psycho. I came back and looted the paper.

This guys is pretty much a joke for any 65 SK. I completly soloed him not even bothering to waste my Harm Touch on him. I got Fully raid buffed but was not needed as I was able to lifetap him and my HP never dropped under about 80%. After getting him to 70% pretty fast I dragged him all the way to the cabin where where my enchanter logged out in the cabin where you turn in the note so I would not have far to run to loot it..... though he did summon me about 30 times haha. Damage output pretty low about 150 max a hit. So Find a bored 65 SK if ya want this quick.

I was helping a chanter friend with his epic. My Mage waitied at the spawn spot and summoned the lvl 61 Air Pet. I buffed him with Burnout V, and Flameshield of Ro and gave him some pet toys. I had a cleric put a Virtue on him and keep him healed during the fight. The Air Pet, with the cleric healing him, was able to solo Thrackin easily. I threw in a spell or 2, but it wasn't necessary. There is no aggro generated from healing pets whatsoever. The pet was summoned over and over, but that was no issue.

With a 58 bard 59 war 65 druid ( Healer ) 56 Ranger and a 65 Enchanter that needed the white paper this Ncp was an easy kill. He is totally magic resistant and what i found was when we got him down to 20 percent HP he ported away and was no longer on tracking. The 65 enchanter casted Bind site and here we are to find he ported to the qeynos hills zone line. The Bard Played his Speed song and we rushed over to him, he was walking in to the zone line when we found him so we hurryed over to him and killed him. I dont know if he does this offen but i would recommed you have a mage that can summon you to the zone line just incase he does this to you.

I've tried to solo him a few times, but I just can't get it to work. He has too much HP/regen and the pet doesn't have enough. I tried to DC the gnecro Oobnopterbevny Biddilets; she got owned in a few rounds by Thrackin and did virtually no damage. I tried to charm Tarnic McWillows with CoD; it said he was too high of level to be charmed, yet CoD is supposed to charm things up to 64, I'm 64, and Tarnic cons blue. Go figure. It turns out he hits for 1016 and I found out the hard way.

So I resorted to trying the pet. At 64 with tash on Thrackin, I slowed him twice, no resists, mezzed him three times with Sleep and Dazzle, no resists, used Memory Flux on him three times, it erased my aggro twice, and finally casted Strangle on him once and it was resisted, although I casted it on him one other time at 62 and he did not resist that time. So it's quite easy to slow him if you're high enough. That's when I decided to gate because he was at 90 and my pet was at 60. Granted I didn't do any damage, but with his summoning I can't afford to get aggro, although it was possible for me to tank him slowed by repeatedly casting Arcane Rune, obviously not a good way to tank because you'll run out of mana quick. I basically had to chain cast Uproar on the pet to keep it alive. If anyone has found an uber DC mob in WK or has another bright idea for soloing, please post the info.

I have also solo'd him, just did it in fact at level 62 with very few aa's. Using the level 62 pet hasted, I engaged with rapture and kept casting slow on him til it landed. Then tanked using arcane rune while the pet and I, using my trusty dagger, slowly whittled away at his hp's. After 3 and a half minutes went by I hit him with another rapture and reslowed. When he was at 50% health I was running out of mana so I mezzed him again and with kei, slowly regained all of my mana throwing on a dazzle every now and then. Took a LONG time, the entire fight took about 45 minutes, from the turn in, to looting the white paper. Didn't notice any regen, none at all in fact as long as I kept aggro by tashing him right after a mez stuck.
Success!

Yes, I have finally soloed Thrackin Griften! Thrackin is an epic mob with high regen, so I decided to fight fire with fire and DC another epic mob with high regen, Vilnius the Small. I wasn't sure if he would have quite high enough regen, but indeed, hasted Vilnius could have killed a slowed Thrackin alone, but I did throw on some DoTs and do some nuking to expedite the process. At the end of the fight Vilnius had about 75% of his hitpoints left, which he quickly regenerated in a few ticks. I did get more resists this time, so I'm not sure whether I was just lucky the last time or whether Thrackin's MR is variable. Unfortunately there's nothing else worth killing in this entire zone, but it's another part of the epic down.

i handed in my quill and paper and proceeded over to the loc where he was supposed to spawn.

i had a 60 war, 55 monk, 53 cleric and myself a 51 enc.

monk ran ahead of us and grabbed him pulled him back to us. while the war and monk started beating on him, i tashed him once. he resisted everything waited til he was 60% health and tashed him again stopped resisting. so while the war and monk beat on him, i nuked. took us all of about 5 min to kill him. wasn't that hard at all. long as you have a couple of melees and a good cleric it's easy. =)

My guildmates and I defeated Thracken Griften last night. We took 8 people, and it was not too difficult. Our main tank was only a level 52 Paladin, so don't worry too much about bringing and uber-tank. Just get him buffed up really well and have good healing available.

We had:

52 PAL
52 ROG (with epic)
51 ROG
55 BST

55 CLR
54 ENC (me)
56 DRU
55 MAG

Even after tashing, Thracken was very highly resistant to magic. We had 3 of us chain-casting slow on him through the first half of the fight, and no one ever got it to stick. Then we switched to nukes. I don't know how the others did, but the two nukes I landed were for less than 100 points each.

I think that what is written in this thread is still true: This is an enemy for whom the caster's role is to buff and heal the melees, then sit back and let them do their work.

Also, anyone can turn in the parchment and quill, even if you are dubious. Cause I had my druid do that and then switched back to my enchanter.

He basically spawns right by his bandit friends.
If you zone from NK, basically go up the hills twords the wall on your right. Had my friends wait at a tree there.

Rarely any resists. Nukes hitting for full or just below full.

Total fight about 1 min. One very happy enchanter.

Did him with three people.

58 Epic Mage (me), 55 Enchanter, 59 Pally.

I summoned up my pet and had an orb in hand with a charge to summon another if needed.

Enchanter Rune 5 my pet, pally casted his buffs on pet. I also gave my pet Muzzle and BO4.

Once we were full mana I pulled him away from the green trash with Malosini (which he resisted).

Enchanter did not tash, didn't want enchanter to die from a tash death. She also didn't slow since from the sounds of it he's not slowable.

Epic pet engaged and enchanter casted rune 5 durning the fight while the pally healed it with Celestial Cleansing. I nukes him with shock of steal.

He went down after 1 - 2 minutes (seemed less than 2). We were all pretty much OOM after fight. Pally engaged when he started to flee.

If this mob can be slowed it would make for an easier fight.
Can be nuked

We attacked him and tried to fear him and it never stuck but we didn't get any immune messages, the chanter was level 60. So for all practical purposes he's immune to fear.

Also he seems to always spawn with two FS swords. We spawned him twice and both times he had two FS swords. We used an earth pet, a greater vocaration air and an 49 SK to tank them. The chanter chain cast Bedlam on the tanks and he went down fairly easily. We had a 50 cleric and 54 druid for healing.

MoY did him last night with 2 Paladins, 3 monks, 49 Cleric Thormed(me), 52 Chanter, 2 Wizzies, and a few druids as well. It went like cake after I arrived late to Rezz the victimes of a previous Kite strategy that went awry. We just did it the good old heterosexual way which worked pretty well indeed. Out of two parties there to kill him, most folks were safe spectators for the most part and there to cheer the successful completion of this for the Chanter Praktar.

Was nice to have extra support and the druids around to toss support heals for the other tanks accidentally drawing aggro. The MA did get way to half a bub of health before that CH hit him :) He knew I had him all the way of course hehe.

A 51 chanter talked me into joining his group to try to kill this guy. Let me count the things that went wrong.

Group was 51 chanter, 55 warrior, 52 pally, 58 druid, 47 cleric, and me, 53 monk.

1- 47 cleric - no Remedy (more on 47 cleric later)
2- chanter did not bind at spawn point then go do the turn in, so no one had haste
3- buffs... I had a Rune V left over from my guild's kill of VS the night before, other than that, no buffs. I presume no one else had any either.
4- 47 cleric - only 60% rez for the dead.
5 - no one bound near the camp, so when all were dead they had to wait for Nexus port back down to NK in order to start CR.

Thankfully, I am a monk and FD works most of the time, so I am willing to try things like this without worrying horribly about dieing.

Things were rushed mroe than they shoudl have been because of an electrical storm starting where the chanter lived. As it was, we got him to about half health before I had to FD with 150 HPs left. With better planning this may have gone better.

I hate it when that happens. The lack of organization in some groups leads me to beleive these guys all have middle-management jobs IRL.

When in a group, every has jobs to do. And it's not always the glory of the kill either. All tanks should be buffed, healed and Full mana prior to combat. In this case Cleric buffs + Pally buff (Divine favor) + Druid skin, str and wolfform. All casters should be claritied and sowed. No question about it. And you should all be bound close. (Gypsie camp for non-casters, and in a safer area near camp area for those who can)

In battle, your main tank is the warrior. The monk is the damage dealer (positioned at he rear for maximum damage). The pally is secondary backup healer and primary backup tank. If the cleric and druid are OOM, the pally heals (Gr heal) while they med. If the War is low on Hp, the pally needs to stun and maintain aggro until things clear up. The druid should Snare and Dot then sit and med for heals. Neither should be nuking. That's the chanter's job.

The battle should have gone something along the lines of this; Warrior pulls the mob to a safer camp with a bow(away from annoying greeny pops). Once aggro is established the mob should be snared and dotted, the monk and pally should join the battle. Monk behind the mob. Pally next to warrior. The Druid should be medding at this point while the cleric keeps everyone's health above 75% with heals. The Enchanter should be dropping DD on the mob.

End result - One dead bandit, a bunch of tired party members, med time, some faction and a no dead adventurers.

Better luck next time. I am sorry to hear you had such bad luck. They key is to have an experienced battle-commander leading the fight.

Thracken is almost 100% Magic Resistant so no nuking/slowing/snaring/DoTing ect...
BTW, I just took him down with 1 small group: 58 warrior, 54 druid, 54 cleric, 51 enchanter.

Best way is to go to camp, bind the chanter, have chanter run back to Chrislin and turn in stuff, then gate back and kick Thrackin in the teeth :)

He's not 100% magic resistant, just highly magic resistant like those oh so irritating Ry'Gorr orcs in EW. I had no trouble sticking Mala/Malosini on him and most of my DDs hit for full damage or close to it. Out of two battles I got maybe one full resist. A 60 mage/shaman can debuff just about any mob in the game. In the second battle I chain cast Scars of Sigil (after pulling with Mala and sicking pet) and never got aggro, the silly bandit kept chasing after the druid that tried to snare him. Earth pets are able to root him briefly I think the resist rules for NPC vs NPC are somewhat different than for PC vs NPC.

Be aware that you cannot use a lowbie to spawn Thrackin. Miss Baker just says something about being surprised that one so inexperienced has such items. Like the lowbie ranger didn't just go BUY the quill and parchment from Qeynos. Anyway, I had to do the turn-in myself, and gate to the spawn area. Meanwhile the tanks amused themselves by taking out the bandits that spawned using only arrows.

Our team: (levels may not be exact. Ranger or Druid may have been 44 at the time.)

55 Warrior
54 Ranger
45 Ranger
44 Cleric
48 Cleric
54 Cleric
51 Druid
45 Druid
49 Wizard
51 Enchanter

The warrior used defensive discipline. The casters just sat back and healed and zinged whenever a tank asked for it. Once Thrackin got down to about 50% health, the Wizzie called nuke time and she and the Druids hit him with cold based spells.

Thrackin conned yellow to the 55 warrior. He summoned several times. Our Wiz reported that ice comet was never fully resisted, but also never did max damage. We had three Clerics, but really could have done it with only one. She was level 44, and went out of mana toward the end of the fight. I was standing by with Rune in case it was needed, but it wasn't even close. The other Clerics basically twiddled their thumbs.
Pathetic

Killed this guy last night with about 7 people with only 3 people tanking him. Our party consisted of:

Voldeth 60 Monk
Jaynor 56 Rogue
Ravon 54 Rogue
Deeros 54 Druid
Kuldan 60 Druid
Rathil 56 Cleric
Senilea 51 Enchanter (Me)

After he aggroed on Deeros and wiped him out we beat him down within 2 mins.
