If you take FM to Burning Woods, the building Jeb is in is directly south of the zone in.

Open your map file and paste this into it at the bottom to show Jeb on your map.

His location is the map file location. It is the virtually the same location as posted below. Know what you are talking about before you go blasting other people.

If you want to cut and paste a location into your map files, use saroir's post. If, however, you have good knowledge of the EQ XY mapping coordinates, use eqnewwb's of Neg1206,Neg3951. Using saroir's number with /location will not work. Saving eqnewwb's number in the map file will also not work.
No need to be blasting someone for not knowing the map file system.

I have extremely bad faction with the Sarnaks. I Pacified everyone around Jeb and then cast Collaboration. Cant be cast on Jeb. As soon as I was done with the hand-in and dialog, the paci wore off and I ended up having to mez one of the Sarnaks. Gated out and was done. So, unlike the previous post, faction is no longer a problem.

Jeb Lumsed bug - Epic turn in fails on faction

Sooo .... you've done everything for your enchanter epic 1.0, you have done the final combine and are in possession of a Bundle of Staves. You boldly head off to Burning Woods to see Jeb Lumsed, a sarnak imitator; you flawlessly mezz all the others in his temple; you ask him "Are you Jeb Lumsed?", He anwers you; you check faction - you are amiable; so you hand him your Bundle of Staves ..... and he says," I have no use for this item, Jamaima. You may have it back." ... so, you try again ... and again ... and try illusions ... and try collaboration ... and try handing him his seal .... and get stitches in your hand and a replacement monitor ... and petition ... and have an illegible conversation with someone 12 time zones away who does not play the game ... and you find this post.

Yes, you have found a Sony bug. You see, the best theory is that when they introduced the newbie quests and the tutorial mode, they changed some of the base factions in the game. Through the magic of databases, your faction with Jeb - a faction that you have never damaged - is no longer as high as it needs to be to get your epic.

Jeb Lumsed, it turns out, is on the True Spirit faction. This is a tricky fact to ascertain as you cannot kill Jeb anymore and nothing else in his zone shares that faction so there is nothing else for you to collaborate to test this. Trust me. (NOTE: Please check here http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/faction.html?faction=181 to be sure that you have not killed anything that would have porked your faction.)

So, how to raise that faction? There are a couple of ways ...
(1) Redo the the prelim part of the epic to get the notes
(2) Redo the second part of the epic, A sack for Mizzle
(3) Hand Camin (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=5205) 1000pp repeatedly
(4) Do the Shaman Epic (the entire point of which is raising this faction)
or - my choice -
(5) Do a small part of the shaman epic involving killing Glaron the Wicked and Tabien the Goodly (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=767) - Just kill these two and do the turn in of their drops - rinse repeat - con the wandering spirit to see when your faction improves to kindly

Voila!

Go find Jeb. He will con the same as the wandering spirit.

PS By way of review - you will need to be kindly or better to get your epic:

+4, ally
+3, warmly
+2, kindly
+1, amiably
0, indifferently
-1, apprehensively
-2, dubiously
-3, threateningly
-4, ready to attack

Good Luck!!

PPS I had multiple GMs tell me to work on Sarnak faction since I got aggro from the real sarnaks in the temple in BW. Please please please ignore them. They just do not understand. You could raise your sarnak faction to Love-you-more-than-my-brood-mother and Jeb will still not talk to you.

PPPS Some folks had earlier thought that the problem was related to the fact that some folks had their home city faction similarly decimated by Sony. Hmmm ... the bug is related but the cure is different - getting to ally in your home city (even Erudin) will not help you with Jeb.

PPPPS If you happen to be an Erudin Erudite whose faction took a hit - try buying 400 or so *rounds* of drinks for Palatos Kynarn in East Freeport (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=384). It won't help with your epic - but it is fun!

Chanter was amiable when I did the final turn-in this evening and received the Staff of the Serpent with no problem. Faction also remained at amiable after the turn-in, unlike the shaman epic where the faction drops back to indifferent.

As of today, looks like you no longer have to wait 3 days after a server reset for him to spawn. My server had a patch yesterday and was down from 4-9am. This morning I got the last piece for my epic, and when I went to the Burning Woods to check, there he was. And it's been less than 24 hours since the server reset.

Took my lvl 52 chanter into Burning Woods just to see if he was up, which he was (score!). But the two dark blue sarnaks right beside him, and one in front would have hammered me. So I used Wake of Tranquility on the three of them, walked up and gave the imitator his not, got the seal, and gated out. No fuss, now epics should be!

lol Looks like people really don't like reading. Guys, before doing quests read about it & follow what you see most & whats confirmed. And again... NO A sarnak imitator has NO PHs, he is on a spawn timer of 3 days either after kill or patch. Zone to BW & head to FM' zone Imitator is at "ruins" South of FM' zone in BW. Just head to the open area & u'll see the camp. I got lucky here, and friends were still awake (barely tho). Again, group of 51 chanty, 52 war, 51 clr, 46 rogue easily cleared everything around Imitator & I went to him, talked, did a turn in (re-pops are in 1-2 mins!!) so basically plenty of time. And NO Imitator won't give you a Sack hehee, all the 4 Masters will tho :P~
Good luck & hopefully noone will kill the Imitator nor by accident or greedness. 3 days are pain in the ..... :-x

I believe the best way to get him to spawn is to keep the camp cleared. I went through 3 cycles of spawns before he popped for me. And you are going to have to kill those around him to talk (to him) anyway.

You dont have to drop a thing to get this guy up.

I went to find him 1 day after the server was reset and he wasn't there, so, I made the mistake of killing the fort several times in hopes he would spawn. I'll I got to spawn was 3 of those semi-named SK's and I decided to leave them alone. 3 days later hes standing there, inside the fort, next to the 2 sarnaks inside (there's one just outside incase you're woundering where the 3rd went).

So, just wait a few days if you dont see him, and eventualy he'll show up.

PS. When he is up, just pac the other two and hand in your notes. I personaly couldnt get him to talk.. though I was in a hurry to get things done before pac wore off.

This fellow is Jeb Lumsed folks... sheesh. anyway- he doesn't give out the bag anymore to make the Staff of the Serpent. just hand his Seal to any of the other 4 masters and you will get "An Enchanter's Bag". put the 4 staffs in that, combine, take the bundle of staffs to him hand in and get a rather lame ending message and your staff. Good luck.

Was in BW trying to spawn Nezekezena for mage epic drop and conned the sarnaks in that building as i passed it... imitator conned dark blue at 61, so i thought i'd try and get an ounce of xp... pulled him with and put pet on him, noticed right away that pet barely put a dent in him, and he was trying to cast spells on me.
blah blah blah, after using up my full mana keeping pet alive and wasting a few resisted spells on him, (didnt chain cast pets since he did summon me once during battle) i ended up gating after he was down to bout 20percent life...

if he didnt summon i could have chain casted pets and killed him fairly easily, but oh well. now hes still there for a lucky chanter i guess.

I have but one question for all you geniuses out there...Why are you killing this mob? He drops NOTHING! He is for the enchanter epic. He is the main person we have to see when we start it and the one we turn in all the completed quest pieces to to get the epic. LEAVE HIM ALONE! It's no wonder he's wiped most of you. He was not there for you to kill. I've been after this guy for a while and can never find him. Now I come here to see if there is anymore spawn info and I see a the first 5 or 6 posts are all about how soandso tried to kill him but were wiped. No wonder I can never find him. When he does spawn, someone comes along and says "Hey check that out! Wonder what he drops?" ...there goes another shot at the chanter epic, racing off to kill some other fool...

/agree I realize that not everyone knows all the classes epic mobs. That said, those that do know this is an epic turn in mob should leave it alone. Its obvious when you see a mob such as a Sarnak who cons indifferent, he's probably a quest NPC of some sort. No reason to try to kill something like that. Anyway, it happens, and I'm sure he doesn't get killed that often. No one really hunts in BW, at least not on Bertoxx. He'll be up when he's up. Those that have any info on a loc would be helpful though. I still need to have a chat with this guy.

Ok here is how hard this guy is. I had 2 groups in BW the other day doing the burning ember mage epic item. When we decided to pull this guy. We had 55 Monk, 53 Wizzy, 52 Cleric, 46 Sk 52 Ranger, 51 Monk, 52 Monk, 47 Ranger, 46 Enchanter, 43 Cleric, and me 52 Mage. We managed to get the Imitator down to half life before he killed all of us. He resis all magic and he cast root, fear and alot of other enchanter spells on us. I would have to say that ya will need 2 full groups with 4 Warriors and 2 Clerics in each groups to kill this Guy. Hope this helps

It's just common courtesy that out of the perhaps tens of thousands of mobs, you dont kill the few in comparison that are for quests only. No loot, way underconned 90% of the time, whats the purpose?
If you don't know, you don't know, but by posting here you skimmed right past exactly what he is, thats when you should have said doh.

Funny story...a few of my guildmates and I decided to check out Burning Woods to try to get a general lay of the land. Our 6man group was a 54 Shaman, 51 Cleric, 51 Ranger, 50 Shaman, 49 Rogue and a 48 Warrior (me). None of us had ever been hunting there before, so I decided we should try the Sarnak Temple just north of the FM zone. We got to the temple and did a quick survey. 4 mobs were up, 2 champions, a knight, and this guy. Our 54 shaman conned him yellow and we were buffed to the gills so we decided to try our luck. The ranger harmonied the other 3, since we knew that we wouldn't be able to handle any adds. It is almost as if he knew what we were doing...as soon as the ranger started to harmony, he put up a nasty Fire Damage shield. When we were ready to go, the ranger pulled him and we immediately started to whipping up on him (or so we thought). This guys resisted every spell, DOT, root, even weapon procs. First our cleric went OOM, then our 54 Shaman said, " its time to run". At that point, we had only taken him down 1/4-1/3 hp. I gave the order to run and we headed south to FM zone and SAFETY! (or so we thought)...our 51 Shaman was the first to fall. "What Happened?!?" I thought as I raced for safety, "we were all together". I was about to find out what happened. If you have never been summoned by a MOB, IMO, it's pretty dam scary. I could see the tunnel to FM and then BAM! A SARNAK IMITATOR HITS YOU FOR 157! I had been summoned! It pulled me all the way back to arms length of that beast. Getting summoned can REALLY disorient you. I put my resist up, praying it would help, but it only prolonged the inevitable. When it was over, we were decimated. 3 deaths (me and both shammys) and the rogue and ranger licking their wounds. Fortunately, we were able to locate all corpses without too much trouble. The bottom line is, STAY AWAY from this guy! He is bad news! Have Fun!

Hello all. For anyone asking info on the sarnak imatator you DO not have to kill others to make him spawn, he spawns in the one corner that thee isnt any mobs standing in, he is also on a 3 day timer after any patch, if haveing problems with him not being there check when the last patch was and give it 3 days, also u can NOT hail him for a bag. Best of luck to all, hope that helps !

No one knew this guy was a quest npc and we certainly didnt know his lvl! Found out the hard way. Cleric and 43 sk survived. This guy was hitting me for dbl 157's. We didnt even dent his health. After cr, the chanter said..."hey, I think he is part of my epic...no wonder he conned indiff to me".

Similar story, we had a group of 51 Cleric, 54 Shaman, 48 Warrior, 51 Ranger, 49 Rogue, and myself 50 Shaman. Took on this guy for some reason I have yet to understand, and he cleaned our clocks! We didnt even get him down to half HP by the time everyone was OOM (everything was resisted) and we ran for our lives... Imitatr started summoning us back to him again and again, and then finally when he'd almost killed me he cast me up in the air to fall to my death. 3 of us died all told.

Hmmm, Imagine if every enchanter in the game really knew their abilities this well, minus the summon of course, we'd never get that...

Yes, he was the only one of the sarnaks that conned indifferent to me when I went to do my epic turn in. The others were ready to attack. I single pulled those around Jeb here and killed those others. Then I did my turn in for Jeb's Seal towards the Enchanter Epic. He didn't bother me...roflmao!

The npc Jeb Lumsed is not buged , verent changed the quest a bit , the reason for this was that u could do just the 4 masters and not have to do the smr, pin ,ink or paper parts of this quest , so verent made it so you had to get jebs seal first and use it to get the bags, so whitout the seal no bag and no way to combine anything.you can no longer ask for the bag simply give one of the masters the seal to get a bag (note all bags from all masters are the same)and jeb is on a 3 day spawn so if there was a patch ,you have to wait 3 days
