Ghost of Kindle has been moved around a few times as The Hole has been revamped... so where you find her depends on the era of the zone you are talking about --stating this as a disclaimer for anyone reading deep in the posts below this NPC.

  • This mob spawns at -87, +176, -306 the top floor of the building in the area where the rat inhabitants are found.

Trick in the hole

Bit info on whaat to do to get the counstucturs out of the picture. invis tue the erth elements, then you come to the erea with counstructurs. so i tryed callaboration on one , still no go//
But then i thought of illusions and tryed gnome illusions + callaboration and i got con dub ZIPPI, none of em attaced me anymore!!!

Went to the Hole tonight and played around with illusions and callaboration and the constructs. Nothing I tried improved faction with these mobs.

What I did notice was that I went from ready to attck with the ghosts to threatening. But that didn't help much since the ghosts were all too eager to attack, and they did.

Also you can pacify your way all the way to the courtyard outside where The Ghost of Kindle spawns. With a few stalking probes and some skill you should be able to get all the way there in only a few tries.
Spawn time change?

First, thanks for all the info on her new spawn location.

Second, spawn time? Has it changed? A Chanter friend and I are hoping to possibly get our clickies at the same time, and are wondering if she still spawns at the same rate as the rest of the zone.
Killed her at level 55 solo....
# Oct 15 2003 at 8:08 AM Rating: Decent
It was not easy, but I was able to solo her at 55 with the level 55 Ench Pet. The hardest part was getting back to her....as there are a mix of live ratmen, undead, and constructs. The constructs were aggroing on me any time they got within aggro range, regardless of what illusion I was in and invisibility didn't work against them either obviously. I just had to watch their patrol paths, and run by when I could.
It took me 5 long tries to get by, I died once when a Ratman dropped my IVU and aggro'd 7 undead on me. My buffs were Virtue, Shield of the Arch Magi, KEI, and Rune V...giving me about 3600hp's. The final run I accidentally aggro'd two constructs, and somehow was able to root both of them and mem blur both of them. They are very magic resistant to root, and I lost 2000hp's trying to get them rooted.
Kindle is definately at the new spawn location mentioned below, and she was completely alone and was dubious to me....so I was able to sit and med to full right beside her, summoned my pet, runed, hasted and feedback'd him...and started the fight by slowing her. She casts cleric spells, and was nuking my pet for about 500 per cast. I just kept a constant Rune up on both me and my pet...and mezzed her when she would start casting heal. Then while she was mezzed, I would used Theft of Thought on her...and med a bit more, then start up the fight again. At the end I chain nuked her with Dementia. Ended up using 15 peridots for Runes, had to mez her about 10 times, and gated out with about 10% health and 10% mana left.

yup new /loc is (-89, -190ish), near #11 on aqatlas's map just on the upper level. dont go into the door she is tucked away in the left side nook. took her down with group of 65s easy, careful getting to her tho easy to get a LOT of adds on the way. Constructs are almost totally MR.

Thanks for info on new loc, Oscuru--it helped!
Tonight she was near 11, just as you described. Btw it was around neg 90, pos (not neg) 190.

The eqatlas map is a little confusing. It almost looks like there might be a way into 11 from the north. We checked; there is not. The underlapping passage shown on the map goes steeply downstairs (probably below 11) and dead-ends in a room with 3 animated chests. One chest had a key in it; maybe you can use that to open a way through but we didn't try. It was getting late so we just went around and came in from the west as Azwad describes.

The key in the Chests... is the Cell Key needed for the Shadow Knight Epic. It is needed to hand in to Caradon; found in the Jail area... to trigger the spawn of Kyrenna; whom the SK's must kill for her blood and heart.

Thanks for the info on the new loc - she was exactly where you said )

We took her down tonight. I can confirm that she is an exceptionally easy mob to take down - one of our easiest fights in the zone. Several people said "Is that it?" after we killed her - hehe.

Be very careful just before the stairs going up (the room just below the "J" on the eqatlas map). There are a lot of possible adds here. We had to fight about a dozen mobs to clear this area, and had 4-6 on us at a time. This was the most dangerous part of killing her for us.

The best thing to do may be to bring your group to the entrance of the hallway that leads to Jaeil the Wretched (right below "J" on the eqatlas map). You can pull to here with only the very occasional add from behind. Take out everything in the big room that you will be looking at, then pull everything right up to the stairs leading to Kindle. Once it is clear to the stairway, move your group quickly up the stairs. The rest is easy.

Cheers,
-Az

anyone know if she still pops at top of undead tower after the Aug 26th patch? if she does, then she is now a 2 group mob, as they placed her behind many mobs fit for PoP. took group 65war 65chanter 65clr 65mnk 61rog 62dru, evaced first try, 3 deaths/evac second, at the base of the undead tower. Mobs hit for upper 200s, are almost entirely magic resistant (i had one root land, nothing else did), and are unmezzable.

I do not believe so. We cleared to the tower and did not see her. Also we had found High Scale Kirn who used to spawn up there on track way back in the town area. If anyone finds her please post here our chanter need just the Ghost for her epic.

Yes, this is another part of the enchanter epic that's surprisingly easy to solo if you're high enough. I was level 62 but I'm sure you could be lower. I did die once, but that is easily avoidable if you read the rest of this post. As was mentioned before, if you cast collaboration on the first elementals you run into after zoning in, you can use invis and invis vs undead to get past everything in the zone. Many things were light blue, saw invis, and were still scowling, but none of them attacked me. The hardest part of this whole thing is actually getting through the hole without getting lost, and that I can't really help you with in words, just get a map from say eqatlas.com, and follow it well. Master Yael was not up when I tried this, so I was able to jump down the waterfall with no problem. Again, be careful not to run clear off the edge or you'll crater for sure. You might want to take the long way anyway just in case you have a freak accident and die so you know which way to go when you drag your corpse back to zone since you obviously can't go up the waterfall. Switch to invis vs undead when you hit the undead part of the zone; nothing that I ran into saw through it.

So once you're actually at the Ghost of Kindle's room, it should safe to take off invis in the little tunnel just outside it. The ghost and one of the revenants should be dubious, and one revenant will be scowling. Use pacification on that revenant and it's safe to enter the room and create a pet. Mez that revenant, and keep it mezzed for the whole fight. I suggest using Glamour first, then tash and use Dazzle for the longer duration. This is what got me killed the first time; I was trying to use stuns because I wasn't sure how well my pet could tank the ghost, that other revenant resisted a couple times, landed a crazy DoT on me, and I got killed by it. You can then attack the ghost (just slow right away), and the other revenant in the room that conned dubious will not help her. The 62 pet had no problem at all tanking her; I just threw two bedlams on it and it ended the fight with like 80% of hitpoints left. I didn't even need to recast arcane rune. Keep a couple of color stuns up to interrupt her casting (though my pet usually interrupted before I had a chance to cast). Good luck!

Anyone else find it funny that there is a mob in Sol A with the name "Kindle" who is a gargoyal looking mob?
Took her at 55 solo
# May 23 2003 at 9:57 PM Rating: Decent
I took her down at lvl 55 with solo pretty easy.

Well the first problem is getting there...many previous posts describe how to get down there so i won't go over that. All i have to say is that i'm a Brell gnome and it was eassy for me to get down there. Since they changed the faction on illusions i have no clue wether elemental illusions still work.

Now once you get into the undead tower just run up the stairs and head to High Scale Kirn's room and put your self in the north east corner of that room. You should safe there...sit down mem all the spells you need to mem buff up and do what you need.

Then head into Kindle's room with IVU on and you will notice that there are 2 undead mobs (one on each side of Kindle). Target one of them and head back to that safe spot in Kirn's room...click off IVU and con the undead creature you targeted. Do the same the other undead in Kindle's room.

One of the undead creatures in her room will bo non KOS to you. Once you figure this out just go back into her room with IVU on head to side of the room were the nonKOS undead creature is.

At this point pacify the 2 undead creatures and Kindle. Then cast pet and buff up (Shadow, haste, rune, Berserker/Bedlam....the works). Then go right behind Kindle and tash/pull her and Dispell at least twice. Then slow, cripple, DoT and nuke as needed.

With this method i was VERY succesfull.

So it seems that all you need lvl 55 pet and your good to go.

soloed her this morning. Zoned into the hole cast collaboration on the first elemental then invised. Some elementals are Kos even with collaboration but they wont attack cuz they are like level 42. others were light blue to me but couldnt see invis. The rest that could see me conned dubious after collaboration. When i got to the first revenant, I cast IVU and ran to kindle's room, i stood in the corner near the door and cast pacify on one of the revenants next to her then mezzed the other one, she didnt aggro, so i dont think you need pacify. i tashed the mezzed rev. after running next to him then charmed and hasted him, as soon as mez broke charm broke too but arcane rune soaked everything he threw at me and i recharmed. then i tashed kindle to pull then slowed, she cleric nuked me and it finished off my rune so i recast it, she nuked me like 3 more times then i backed off and my pet revenant had aggro. i loaded insanity and hit her with that twice. looked like she tried to cheal herself once in there but she never got it off. pet was at like 85% when she was finally Noct' out and i was at 54 mana. Looted and gated

Heh, I guess tonight was my lucky night. Looking for a group and not doing much else, get a tell from a Shammy that asked if i wanted to help with his epic. Dont know the guy, but figure not doing anything else, what the heck. So i get there and we have a group of Shammy, Druid, Rogue, Monk, Cleric and me (chanter). Everyone but the Shammy and myself are around 60 ish. Anyways, we fight our way through the hole, massive adds, putting me to work. So we get to the Shammy epic guy and the monk says that there is a Chanter epic piece close, so we go kill it (very very easily, only CH-ed healed herself once) and I get part of my epic...

Well, after some trial and error, I can outline a relatively easy way to get a force into close proximity to the epic mobs that spawn deep within the Hole without having to clear through the city (which is a complete pain in the ****** This method does work while Yael is up.

First, you need to powerlevel a brell cleric to level 14. The cleric needs the three spells divine aura, invis to undead, and reanimation, if you want to go totally barebones.

Get the cleric to paineel, bind him right at the pit that drops you into the hole. Have the cleric divine aura and dive in, he'll land in the middle of a bunch of elementals, golems, flighty fiends, and master yael (if he's up). All these mobs should ignore you since you're a brell worshiper. Run up the passage that leads to the castle full of undead and epic mobs. ITU so none of the undead will aggro, run past the entrance to the castle, around the corner, and you'll be on a ledge overlooking master yael's spawn. Park the cleric here, we'll come to him later.

Next, you'll need to have a 55+ mage in your raid party. have everyone in the raid party zone into the hole, no need to fight the entrance mobs, just sit around. Have someone duel the mage to kill him without exp loss. Now, take a level 1 brell worshiping halfling rogue, use sneak/hide and drag the mage's corpse all the way down through the city and to the spot where the level 14 cleric is parked. Have the cleric reanimate the mage, get the mage grouped with the halfling rogue, have the rogue sneak back to the entrance, or even easier make sure he's bound right outside the Hole entrance in Paineel and just have him run up to a mob and ask it for a free port to bind, any way you do it, have him in the entrance to the zone so he can invite people for Call of the Hero. CotH your entire raid party into position, assemble your groups, and presto! You're right near all the epic mobs, you're really close to master yael, and you didn't have to kill a thing. In the event that you don't have a mage that can cast Call of the Hero, it is possible to simply corpse your entire raid party and drag all their corpses through the zone. In this situation, I strongly reccomend that each person at the raid bring their own level 1 halfling rogue, because I had to drag five corpses through the Hole last night and it was not only extremely difficult (ended up making a ton of macro keys to target and summon corpses) but it also took about an hour and twenty minutes.

Hope this helps, and good luck.
(note: copies of this post will be placed in the discussion of the important epic mobs in the bestiary section, as well as under the main Hole strategy discussion. I'm not trying to spam, just trying to make it so anyone looking for info on their epic mob can find this strategy quickly and easily)

I just wacked Kindle solo @ 58 with chantress pet. Before going in I got KEI and Virtue. I used Water Elemental Illusion to get past the elementals and Rock Golems. (It's also worthy to note I was scowled at by some of the elementals and golems, yet they didn't aggro me.) This will get you down to the room at approximately (0,-200).

Before entering the room Invis up and watch for a Ratman Warrior to wonder through. Target and pacify him from a safe distance...(can do it from outside the room). Reinvis again and proceed through the room and down the southern corridor until you can look down the steps to the West. Target 2nd Ratman and pacify him at an opportune time. Watch for Revenants that wonder through there. Once you've Pacified the 2 Ratman Warriors cast Invisibility to Undead (ITU) and make your way through the city toward the northern end with the dock. (The area to the south of area #7 on EQATLAS map). *STEP* off the waterfall. (Don't run or you'll miss the pool at the bottom...I even went so far as crouching and stepping off...yes I learned the hard way)

Once at the bottom make your way through the passage to the north (still just more Elementals and Rock Golems). Until you get to the undead area (Area to the South of the #6 on EQATLAS map. I pacified some of the first Revenants but I found this didn't get you very far. I ITU'd and ran to the top of the tower. You will know you're at the top because you'll see a High Scale Kirn (an Iksar for the Shammy epic) that conn'd amiable to me at the top. If you enter this room, I found you could drop ITU safely in the right corner as you enter the room. (I got turned around running up the steps and this turns out to be the NW corner of room #3.) I also found when you drop invis some of the Revenants are still indifferent: In Room 3 the Revenant in the NE corner, The Revenant in the room just north of #3, Kindle in Room 2, along with the Revenant next to Kindle (to the North). That leaves the Revenant at the south end of Room 3 and the Revenant to the South of Kindle KOS.

Taking out Kindle: First off I cast Blanket of Tranquility on all three in Kindle's room (remember that the Revenant to Kindle's South is still KOS). I cast my pet (I've never trusted charm...just too unpredictable). I cast Rune V and Bedlam on my pet and myself. I cast Haste on my pet as well. I then mem'd Tash, Slow, Cripple, Gasping Embrace, (kept gate mem'd at all times), Pillage Enchantment (Kindle's a cleric), and Rune. I meditated until full mana.

I pulled Kindle with Tash, and then hit her with Pillage enchantment (Tash stays on because it's poison based). I then hit her with the other buffs I had mem'd. I also cast Rune V on my self and my pet as needed. Once aggro was off of me and on my pet I forgot Tash and mem'd Dementia. Through the course of battle, she CH'd herself once along with another minor heal, nuked, and dispelled magic (on herself). (I got my DD spell up late and missed stunning her for the CH). If you watch her spell casting you can stun her with your nuke to disrupt heals. I just missed it for her first CH, but I still made it through. Once she dies, loot and gate.

This is going to sound complicated, but follow the steps, and you'll be deep in the hole quickly, safely and painlessly. This trick works to get to most epic mobs including Jaeil, Keeper, Kirn, and the Ghost of Kindle (chanter epic, I think that's her name).

What you'll need:

- a level 55+ magician
- a good enchanter or two
- a clean pair of shorts
- a few of the following classes: Paladins, Shadow Knights, Clerics, Necros. Mix and match is fine. Make sure you have at least four characters that fall into any of these classes.

Make a level one halfing brell-worshipping rogue. Bind him or her in Paineel. I would say make a level 65 rogue, but you can only make level one characters...

Bring your level one halfling brell worshipping rogue to the pit where Yael spawns and pray he's not up. If he is, forget it. You will need to fight in the long way. If he's not up, park there and log back onto your main character.

1. Have all necros and shadow knights mem Harm Shield. Have all paladins and clerics mem Divine Aura. Do this now because it takes a few minutes before the spell comes up to cast.
2. Create your groups. Classic grouping. Put a healer in each group. Make sure enchanter is grouped with a cleric, etc. etc.
3. Have all paladins, shadow knights, necromancers, and clerics disband and form a "sub-group." Make sure they take note of their group and group leader before they disband, because they will be rejoining them later.
4. Have everyone that's not in a pally/sk/necro/cleric subgroup zone into the hole through the rock in the pond.
5. Have the pally/sk/necro/cleric sub-group(s) cast Divine Aura or Harm Shield and drop down the big hole in Paineel IMMEDIATELY after they cast.
6. Your subgroups will have to kill two or 3 mobs as soon as they land. This shouldn't pose much of a problem.
7. Log onto your Halfling Brell-worshipping Level One Rogue. Invite a necro or SK.
8. Kill yourself and zone back in through the rock in paineel.
9. Invite the magician.
10. Kill the magician.
11. Have the necro in your group summon the magician.
12. Have a cleric or pally rez the magician.
13. Begin CotHing, inviting people for CotH with your Level One Halfling Brell-worshipping Rogue.
14. Disband your sub-group(s) and have them rejoin their original groups.

**As an alternative, if you have a suicidal mage, you can just have him drop down from paineel and rez him, without worrying about the summon corpse bit, but it's polite to offer to do the summon corpse so he doesn't lose any xp for your epic.**

And you're good to go. You only need to go up the tunnel a little way with a few spawns along the way. This way is SOOO much easier than fighting your way through the city, and it saves a lot of time.

Hello,
I forget my login/password information so I will post anonymously. If you don't know, Illusion: Earth Elemental + Collaboration should make you non-kos to all elementals and golems in the zone. Only the Rats/Ghosts will attack you. Even if the elementals are scowl to you while in ele form I would recommend trying your luck with one at the zone in, because I was scowl with invis, illusion and collab, but still non-kos. The Golems are a good way to test faction because they will be above kos if you are in illusion/collab. Now for the info on getting to Kindle. face This mob is in the VERY back of the Hole. Once you navigate through the city (maps help A LOT with this) and reach the tunnel that is behind a busted gate(you'll know it when you see it) there are 2-3 wandering ratmen and 2 wandering revanents. Now what I did, while in Earth Illusion/Collab I would wait in the building that is facing the broken gate and wait for the wandering rats/revs to leave the tunnel. Once in I would stay invis until Jarled(sp?) the Wretched and IVU once I got past him. From him getting to her is cake. Just follow the tunnel down and go into the tower. Through the first gate then into the door slightly off to your left. Once in that room it is set up like a dinner kind of but just keep running straight into the door directly across the room for you. Then just keep going up the steps and opening the doors on your way. Once you get to the top head into the left chamber and that is where Kindle is.

Now about killing her.
I was determined to get this part of my epic done solo(I failed due to accidental faction loss) so this is what I did at lvl 57. At least for me, the mob to KINDLE's LEFT was indiff, as was Kindle herself. The other rev was scowl but would not attack me from across the room. I would get myself buffed with whatever buffs I saw fit (Rune V, Beserker Str, GRM, C2, GoI, Enlightenment, Cha buff, etc...) and opened with a CHARM on the scowl mob. I did not get one resist in my perhaps 20 attempts at this. Once my mob was charmed I would mez the other revanent and then send my pet into attack Kindle. Once he had her in combat I attempted a variety of stratedgies:

1st strat: I tried normal charm solo tactics of keeping pet up with rune and nuking Kindle. I had fairly good success with this but Kindle would dispell my charm off my pet, and she Complete Healed on me on my first attempt.

2nd strat: Open with charm again on scowl mob, Haste him, mez other rev, send pet in, tash Kindle, then keep her in stun lock. I again had fairly good success with this stratedgy. The only problem was the revs do not hold a charm as long as I would like and I would run oom trying to keep him charmed and the other one mezzed as I had to use GoK.

3rd strat: Charm blah blah same as before. Tash Kindle, only stun when she would begin a cast. This also met with decent success, leaving Kindle at about 30 percent health. But I had bad luck with resists/mez/charm breaks at inopportune times.

4th strat: This is where it gets interesting. I talked to another enchanter friend. We both got non kos and went in. Now I figured with 2 enchanters this would be easy. Charmed mob, sent in, he kept the other mob mezzed and chain casted color stuns. We thought we had her but at 10 percent health he got a resist and got killed, then I went to nuke her and my charm broke midcast and not even channeling could keep me from being interrupted. She ended up CHing with a sliver of life left and I barely gated out with my life.

I would have gone back with him but while rebuffing at the zone I got agro from a mob and took the final faction hit that knocked me over to perma-kos =(

What Did I Learn From This?

The Ghost of Kindle IS soloable from 57ish on. It's just a matter of luck with resists/charm breaks. I had 255/255 int/cha if that matters at all. With another enchanter it is very feasible but was hard because that was his first time up in the room with me. It is important to know that the revanent can tank her by himself no problem. With minimal interferance from me Kindle was at 20 percent life with the rev at above 50 percent. I am confidant that I could have gotten it if I had not taken that faction hit to push me over. Since then I got a level in the Hole and am waiting on a shammy/ranger raid to piggyback on and get that ghost dead. Revenge is a ***** eh?

I hope that this helps any enchanters out to get this part of their epic in the hole solo. I am sorry for the lenghty post but I do not want to see other enchanters waste 2 days on this like I did. Take it for what it's worth, the simple advice from a humble enchanter.

Feel free to log onto E`Ci and send me a tell if you have any questions about this. Good luck!

Well, among other things, if you were at the zone, why not just zone back out instead of killing the thing and taking the faction hit if you were worried about the faction? Even if you didn't have a key to the door, you should have been able to swim to the zone, turn around, swim back in, and by the time you got there the aggro critter oughta have left. *shrug* I guess the instinctive "It hit me, kill it!" reaction gets the better of us sometimes. :)

thanks kjelden, i just did this yesterday, and managed to do it solo as a 60 enc, though it was close mana wise. took me 2 attempts, first try, charmed kos mob, tried to mez other rev, (using gok) but got resisted, and it was downhill from there, i gated, but boil blood didnt take long to finish me off. easy to get a rez in pok tho. 2nd attempt, charmed kos mob, sicked it on kindle, then raptured the kos rev.. tash n slow kindle, re mez other one, used stuns once she started healin herself, had one charm break, but no prob with stun, re charm. she starts to run at about 20%. but a stun and a nuke, and ta-da, one dead ghost, i loot essence and gate out with about 5% mana left. my int/cha were 255, and about 500 in mana items. only thing i'd do different is tash the mezzed mob and use gok on it to save mana.

HAs same spawn time as any mob in the place. Just killed him/her twice in same raid.

Roughly 20-30 minutes (forgot to time it), but she's on the same respawn as the rest of the Revenants in the tower. So you can easily do multiple enchanters while you wait for Kirn to respawn.

As of 11/23/04 the respawn time is longer than 1hr. will post later as soon as she spawns
