If you do not have a tracker, this guy is in the same temple as the howling stones zone in. He is down the ramp to the left once you go inside.

Was on Alt ranger yesterday, and saw him up on track. Did not Know about enc epic so I camoed in and pulled with snare clicky then Cloudy potion once it stuck and ran out. Once he came out I rooted and Dot'ed and Flung arrows , repeating snare and roots/dots as needed. Drop nothing of course cause he for epic turn in. Next time I will just leave him and Send a tell in gen chat that he is up. 48th ranger fennin Ro

Spawn timer
# Sep 28 2007 at 10:15 AM Rating: Decent
The spawn timer on Tzilug is about 24 hours. I'm on my second enchanter 1.0 and accidentally despawned him yesterday. *Note... don't exit out to try to save your young enchanter if the charm breaks, it despawned him.

I checked back every hour for him until late evening, got up and started checking again. He finally reappeared almost exactly 24 hours later.

I camped this bug for about 6 hours last night. I tried killing to make him pop, but I had no luck so I camped. Since there was a patch this morning, I logged in at lunch and there he was. I charmed him and after the hand in, I got agro. (I was not KoS so I could just sit there.)

Since I know another chanter was also doing the same test, I cast Rune on him and gated hoping that he would not be killed.

I'm sorry I don't know how to make this bug pop; but since patchs are not a rare event, you might want to try shortly after one.

Easy enough for a 70
# Aug 16 2005 at 2:01 AM Rating: Decent
These posts are rather accurate for the encounter's difficulty. However if you are level 70, it should not be too tough. I soloed the room as a 70 warrior (380aa and DoN gear). So a similar level/gear enchanter should have no problem. The Impaler is located in the temple with the entrance to Charasis. Once inside the temple simply make all lefts. Good luck!

...is easy to charm, but a pain in the *** to kill. I was attemping to do this quest solo with my 55 enchanter, however, after two deaths I decided to try and clear the room to make it as easy as possible.
So I three boxed my 57 warrior, 55 pally, and the enchanter. I killed a couple of wandering Scorp Guardians, then pulled the main mob. Got the Impaler and two Guardians. I charmed the Impaler, gave him my emerald, then used him to totally wipe the two Guardians.
It was at this point my quest for went stupid. I wanted to see a little Impaler blood in exchange for the two dirt naps I had taken previously.
So I waited for the charm to release while I buffed up and medded. Well, as near as I can tell, this guy has a retarded high regen rate. I was pounding on him with the warrior and pally, never saw him heal once, charmed a scorp to help pound, and was blasting with my chanter when mana permitted. I got him to 57% after about five minutes of hardcore fighting.
So I gated out with my chanter, had my warrior pull him away from the group, and ran the warrior and pally to the POK stone. It was a lost cause.
The lesson here, don't get pissed off and try to kill him unless you have some serious dps with you. Just charm him, kill a few scorps, whatever... But get your emerald and get out.

The mob is not see invs and Use Charm level 49 or higher will work on her.. If you got resisted on her.. She will HT you about 750 to 1000 damage and hit 255's damage. So very careful and watch out of 5 guards near her. These guards is only 44 to 45. You can wear Runes and charm her.. Don't pacifiy them. They will aggro on you really bad.

I am 63 Chanter, I has 4300 HP with Convication and 4500 Runes damage. 5 Guards ingore me when I charm her.. I send her to kill 5 guards!!!! Very poor guards. Then turn in for Emerald to her and you will got Enchanted Emerald.. GOOD LUCK ON YOU! BE CAREFUL AND DON'T DIE!

I'd read all the previous posts about this mob and decided to pop over to recon the layout.

Invis and on a drog with WoM and gate mem'd I made my way down very carefully through the cavern conning ever mob for see-invis. Nothing saw me.

Stood outside the entrance to the tunnels for 10 mins watching movements and conning anything that poked its head out of the door. Still OK no see-invis mobs.

Got a bit braver and decided to go in for a look see knowing I had WoM and my drogmor to make an escape. Worked my through the building conning everything but still nothing saw me.

Wnet down ramp to the impalers room and started to con the guards and the impaler himself. Again nothing saw invis. Everything in tne room was moving around so I was having trouble figuring how I was going to pacify the room before charming the Impaler whenI had the most massive stroke of luck.

The Impaler walked past me and up the ramp all on him own after just two mins of me sitting there. No guards with, him nothing. Followed him up the ramp to about halfway, dumped charm on him and handed over emerald, got enchanted emerald back and gated out without anything agroing or taking any hits.

So my recommendation is to sit one third of the way up the rampfrom his room while invis'd and just wait. He will wander up there and you can snaffle him with little to no risk.

I have never hunted there. I cast Benevolence and was amiable. I did >> NOT << charm Impaler. I simply handed him the Emerald and got the one i needed. He then attacked me and I ran and gated out. I am a 54 enchanter

This was much easier than I thought it was going to be. I went in invis and saw him and his 4 guards there. I was about to pacify all, but then that wandering guard came in to the room and wouldn't leave. What I did was back up the ramp and wait for the guard to get somewhat up the ramp. As soon as he did I mezzed him. Impaler Tzilug agroed me by himself right after and I easily charmed him.

It was such a rush
# Dec 16 2003 at 9:43 AM Rating: Decent
I hit lvl 62 last night and woke up this morning feeling brave so I decided to do this. Alone. I had a kind Cleric cast Virtue on me. Stacked Arcane Rune and Rune of Zebuxoruk on myself, levitation, and proceeded to the Overthere. If you look on the map on eqmaps.com, the place Impaler Tzilug is will be marked with an A. If you have the in-game LoY maps downloaded on your computer, just use that. He is downstairs towards the left when you walk in the temple, on the opposite side of the HS sphere.

Being a little too cocky, I walked down there, saw him and was not in sight of any guards, so I charmed (using Boltran's Agacerie). Well needless to say I pulled the entire room. 2 of the guards aggroed on him so I actually only had 3 to deal with. They started beating on me, so I pulled them out into the hall and then ran back into the room to have some casting time. I was able to stun them with Color Slant, then AE mezz with Facination. I then mezzed the other 2 adds, did my turn in, and gated out.

When I cast gate I was at 5% health. I had 3292 points of hp and 2350 points of damage shield on myself, so it is easy to see how much damage these guys can do.

With planning this can be done alone, but I advise all of my fellow Enchanters to be very careful if going solo and not underestimate these guys.

Heh, I was also brave and did this today. I had invis and levi on to get to the impalers room. He had four guards in the room. I pacified all four guards and charmed the impaler. I gave him the emerald and began casting gate, but then a wandering scorpion guard came up behind me and hit me for 91 dmg two times and then nuked me for 551 dmg. But then I finished casting my gate and was out of there. Then I looked at my health it was at 30%. Heh I think mine is better than your plan.
Easier than expected epic step
# Nov 03 2003 at 8:55 PM Rating: Decent
This epic step turned out to be a lot easier than I expected it to be. As an agnostic enchanter, I used dark elf form to become non-kos (never screwed up my faction here), used collaboration as well, just in case. Was able to walk into the temple without harassment from any mobs. I considered the impaler and was non-KOS to him as well. Walked into the room, used Wake of Tranquility to pacify every mob in the room (starting with the wanderer). I cast Wake on the impaler last. Crossed my fingers and charmed the impaler with Boltran's. Impaler began to follow me, so I led him outside of the room and into the hallway, just in case. Used the /pet guard command to park him in the hallway, whipped out the emerald, got as far away from him as possible, crossed fingers again and did the turn in. Impaler gave me his message, but did NOT attack me. Gated out with a new gem and a completed epic step.

Summary:

- Cast Wake of Tranquility on all of the scorpions, including the wanderer and the Impaler itself

- Pet guard the Impaler, then get as far away from him as possible when doing the turn in

- Don't forget to get your charisma gear on and buff your charisma... easy to forget for those who don't use charm regularly (like myself)

- Don't forget to have gate up =)

Good Luck,

Indeed, an easy step. I floated down the valley invis and waited just outside Tzilug's room. Once the wanderer strolled off I positioned myself right in front of Tzilug but outside the room. If I remember correctly the other mobs inside had no line of sight on me. I simply charmed Tzilug, causing him to walk out off the room, handed in the gem and gated. Less than 5 mins in and out.

For those of you working on your epic, here's some advice on getting Impaler T'zilug

I'm a High Elf worshipping Mithaniel Marr (yeah I know) who has fought a bit in KC and helped on killing VSR a few times. Needless to say none of those skorpiis are going to like me. However, I had no problem doing this.

Just get a friend who is not KOS to the OT outpost and bring him/her along. Nothing in the canyon should aggro on him/her. Invis yourself and levitate or do a lev illusion (I was in illusion imp when I did this, scowling evertime I conned the mobs). Go with your bud to the temple entrance in the canyon that is not facing another one, that's where you need to be. Go in to the wall, take a left and come to a ramp; have your friend scout things out. There are four skorpiis guards in the room along with the Impaler, and one roamer. Have your friend stand in the middle of the room while you are out in the hallway. When the roamer enters the room, target him or have your friend target him and /assist. Cast your best pacify, for me wake of tranquility. Then have your friend target the two skorps closest to you, /assist, pacify. Pacify everybody. Then charm the impaler. If you have effectively pacified them all, there is no trouble. If you pull one or two when you charm, just mez them. Do your turn-in to the Impaler. Afterwards, he DID NOT AGGRO as is reported on the bjornstar site. Gate the heck out of there and enjoy your new and improved emerald.

What I did
# May 10 2003 at 11:59 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, this is how I got the Enchanted gem; went over to OT via the PoP Overthere stone, dropped in the canyon, and found the Impaler Tzilug. I con'd him as KoS and the guardians as dubious in true gnome agnostic form. I buffed up with runes, umbra, magic resist, and walk into the room while invis'd. Then I turned off invis when the roaming guard walked into the room. Impaler Tzilug came for me and I ran up the ramps with him targeted; none of the guards moved in for me. I charmed, did my turn in, and then gated out. Simple I think.

KOS to VS
# May 09 2003 at 3:15 PM Rating: Decent
So, I am very KOS to VS. I hunted their for several levels and if I remember correctly, my faction can get no worse. Anyways, I was to the point to where I needed to do this part of epic so I set out to get it done.

I am a High Elf Agnostic Lvl 60 Enchanter.

I went into OT, buffed myeslf up with everything I could, including cha buff, shield of the magi, rune V, bedlam, umbra, etc. I first tried the Illusion: DryBone spell and cast collaboratoin but after conning a few of the guards, I was still KOS. So, I tried the Illusion Dark Elf and Low and Behold, I was Dubios! WOOT. So I threaded my way down into the temple (stay to the left and the path will lead down to the impaler). Once I got to the room, I pacified the entire room using Waking of Tranquility (the roamer came in, but I hit him with pacify too). Cast Boltran's on the Impaler, he walked over to me like a good little pet, gave him my emerald, got my prize, and gated out. Overall, not very hard, but definately fun :). Good luck to all future enchanters.
The way I did it
# May 03 2003 at 10:11 AM Rating: Decent
Im a dark elf agnostic chanter, hunted in KC a bit (shame on me) so I was dubious. Heres how I did it:

Wandered around for hours looking for the wrong loc (doh!). The 2 skorpikis at the entrance do not see invis, conned them while invised, regular one, and walked right down.

When I finally found impaler, sure enough, contradictory to the other web pages, he was on vs, dubious, like his guards. So I pacified all his guards, waited til the roamer walked off, crossed my fingers and charmed him! lvl 50, no adds. Did turn in and luckily, the roamer was coming back down and he aggroed it instead of me! LOL! Had gate memmed so i got the hell out of there. Dunno if this always happens, but got it on my first try.

Greets,

Ok, my hubby tried it again today. (he's died 3 times trying over the years, yes YEARS, he's been working on the epic)

After hearing this "pacify" technique he thought to try it out.

He's held on, dearly, to his Venril Sathir Faction. (He's a dark elf, so starts out apprehensive.)

With the new changes to Illusion: spells for playable races anyone who has NOT trashed VS faction can do this.

Head to The Overthere (use the PoP book if you can, fast, easy, safe)

Illusion: Dark Elf (this gives you base apprehensive faction, given that your religion and past actions haven't ruined VS.)

Lev (HUGE drop off, 10k fall. Have Lev of some kind up or die.)

DO NOT try to walk up/down the ramp. The two "Scorpikis" at the ramp ARE NOT ON VS FACTION and SEE INVIS and KOS to just about everyone. (read more about them elsewhere)

Invis. (Improved Invis if 50+, sells cheap in bazaar, well worth it, wish the Improved Superior Camo spell, with exact same spell effect, didn't go for 4-5k on Bristlebane for druids)

"Fall" into the canyon.

Target the nearby scorpikis (they are really common and light blue to a 51 for the most part) and cast Collaboration. They should /con amiable now.

Re-Invis. (there is a roaming Astral Projection that will be KoS to you in DE form.)

Go to the spot marked "A" on the EQAtlas.com map. Follow the left wall down. The Scorpikis and Scorpikis Guardians will be dark blue and amiable.

/con Impaler and he should also be amiable.

Hubby tried Pacify just in case... resisted, but did not agro. (so apparently there is no need, if you have decent, or at least not horrible, VS faction to worry about Pacify)

Tried turn in at extreme range (without charm) ... worked just fine.

Impaler agro'ed and hit for a ton. (135-185 doubles and some bashes)

Hubby got Gate off, and didn't have Rune up which would have made it safer. (would suggest Rune, Arch Shielding, Shadow or better, and any Cleric HP buffs you can beg... he got out with under 20 percent health)
Just did this -- simple
# Mar 22 2003 at 3:19 PM Rating: Decent
Being a worshipper of Mithaniel Marr, my faction for these scorpions was far beyond what my magical aids could do. Since Invisibility works on them, I simply ran to the room where the Impaler was, and took my time pacifying the entire room. Then, I simply charmed the Impaler, who came obediently, while attracting no attention. After that, is was a simple matter of turning in the emerald, and gating. I had no problems.

Died 3 times trying to get this part so I thought I'd post what worked and what didn't. I'm a 55 dark elf enchantress of Innoruuk and haven't wrecked VS faction so the scorps are apprehensive to me, amiable with Collaboration. Problem is that the Impaler is KOS and in a room with 4 guardians and one wanderer.

First time I tried charming the impaler where he was, on the theory that the other scorps were amiable so they wouldn't care, right? Wrong, they all attacked the impaler and I had to gate before they would kill him and come after me next.

Next several times I tried with a 53 monk pulling him and FD, but the guardians cast and we didn't have a healer to keep the monk alive, so I tried mezzing them but got aggro and died. We tried this a few times and even got the Impaler completely out of his lair once, but he has a pretty large aggro radius and I got hit before I could charm him (and didn't have any buffs at the time so not enough hps to survive the fight). After 3 deaths I gave up.

So tonight while I still had aego from a Kael raid, I decided to give it another try. I cast Rune V on myself and went to the corner right before the Impaler's room. The wanderer was inside right next to the Impaler so I waited for him to leave (keep in mind none of them started out KOS except the Impaler, so as long as I didn't get too close to him yet I was ok), then as soon as he left, I started pacifying the guardians. Got all 4 pacified and the wanderer wanders back in, so I pacify him too and then the Impaler, then proceeded to mez the guardians one by one: back left, back right, front left, front right, wanderer, then charmed the Impaler, he walked over to me like a good little pet, I gave him the emerald, got back the enchanted one, and gated out before the guards woke up.

I imagine this wouldn't work (or at least would be much more difficult) if VS faction were beyond repair; the front guards might aggro and certainly the wanderer would.
KOS to VS way

I'm an high elf enchanter(agnoistic) sorry can't spell great. I just did this charm several days ago. He is located in the temple nearest of the SF zone in the canyon. If you didn't know taking the right fork inside the temple will take you to the howling stone port in. Anyway take the left fork and follow the path downwards. Eventually I arrived(improved invis.. nothing sees through it). I am 62 also. You can single pull this one with tash from what I understand at 60. I charmed w/ Boltrans and did hand in. He was no aggro after turn in. I just gated out. Suggestions for those not yet 60. Bewary of the wanders mobs that travel through out the temple. Once I charmed him he aggored like 3 or 4 thru the wall. ( I tashed pulled him to right outside the room at the corner of the entrance way to the 5 spawn room he was in. He aggroed through the walls apparently and wiped 2 or 3 of them before i could hand in the gem.

Anyway for those not yet 60. Recommend using the peridot rune and bedlam or lower damage absorber. Grab an hp buff if you can. Sow might also be nice. I'd suggest useing aoe mezz - remmber to stay out side of the room and target one from outside the room. Otherwise you may mez your self. I don't know if stuns works on these mobs. Then run in charm hand in and gate. Good Luck.
I just need fear, hate, and com.. Anyone have any suggestions on how to clear fear and what is needed raid size?
Drybone and Collaboration no good
# Dec 07 2002 at 3:49 PM Rating: Decent
I tried the drybone/collaboration no go. Still KOS, twice. LOL finally got him by using Wake of Tranquility and pulling the SK's, still lost druid though. Impaler tough guy, regen's as fast as you hit him, so just evac if you can after you get your gem. My 2cp worth.
