No more kill nor gate required

Assumed you didn't ruin VS faction much. I myself have never hunt in KC nor HS and I got Amiably faction by using this following method.

Illusion: Dry bone + Collaboration combination should be enough to make you non-KOS to scorpions (even good race). Then you can run to his room (temple A in Eqatlas OT map), cast Wake of Tranquillity on Impaler and all guards (Didn't get any resist at my lv56), walk to Impaler. Give him gem at max trade range (no need to charm when you are Dubious or better). DON'T STAND TOO CLOSE TO HIM. Ding! got enchanted gem and his con would change to KOS ,however he won't attack as his aggro radius reduced to 1ft only. So I just simply walk out the temple and go Warsik Wood for pick up next piece Scroll in Dalnir then :)

Gotta love our lull line spells again hehe.

Illusion: Drybone did not work for me, but I was able to do this part exactly as posted here using Illusion: Dark Elf. Solo, no fight, no aggro.

Doing the test of charm with 3 people, zero deaths.
# Sep 17 2002 at 8:56 PM Rating: Excellent
requirements:

druid/wizard
non-kos FD puller (SK or Necro)
enchanter with the turn-in item
(cleric parked at the NE lip of the pit, just in case)

general:

The goal is to single-pull Impaler Tzilug out of his room where he is guarded by (5) Scorpis Guardians, up the ramp, outside the temple, and into the right corner of the pit (you could try to pull farther, but run a higher risk of the puller dying). The enchanter is then able to tash/charm, do the turn-in, charm breaks and the wizard/druid evacs all 3 people to the WW zoneline before he kills the enchanter.

specific strategies:

There are a few phases to this pull, timing on certain parts is critical, or you will have a death. (We did this with a 49 chanter, 52 druid and 45 shadowknight.)

1) Buffing - puller needs all the HP you can give him along with SoW, should also buff up the rest of the party, but particulary the enchanter (use your best rune on the puller and enchanter). A good place to do this is at the northeast corner of the pit (where the floor of the pit rises almost up to the same level as the surrounding area).

2) Have your puller practice the route while everyone else meds up, discusses strategy, and preps spells. The puller needs to know the route back out of the temple by heart (although it isn't difficult - but things get a little crazy when you've got a named chasing you).

3) Everyone invis's up and moves to the pull-to spot. A good spot is to the left of the temple as you face it (in the corner of the pit). At this point, the only person at risk of death will be the puller, because if the pull goes bad, everyone should still be far enough away from Impaler Tzilug to avoid aggro (regular scorpii don't see invis).

4) Puller walks down to bottom of ramp, evac'r and enchanter sit invis at the pull spot and wait for any wandering scorpii to walk away. Once it is time, puller walks close enough to Impaler Tzilug to aggro, then runs back up and brings the mob to a spot where the enchanter can cast on it. If the pull goes bad, let Imaler Tzilug wander back down to the room and try again (or evac). With luck, Impaler Tzilug won't even dent the rune before the puller gets to the pull-to spot.

5) When it looks good, the following things need to happen, IN ORDER:

a) enchanter pulls with tash, then charms Impaler Tzilug
b) FD puller attempts to keep aggro on adds
c) enchanter refreshes rune
d) enchanter hands item to Impaler Tzilug, but does NOT press the trade button
e) evac person begins to cast evac, announces when 3 seconds are left
f) enchanter presses trade with only a few seconds left till evac, charm will break and Impaler Tzilug will attempt to kill the enchanter
g) evac goes off, and everyone arrives safe and sound at the evac point

Step 5 happens in about 30 seconds or less, it sounds fast, but is very much under control. If it works, it will take your party about 30 minutes to get over the excitement.
Easy to do it alone

Okay, someone here is a dolt. I went down there, took me about twenty minutes to find him, as I had no clue where he was. Am a DE and am amiable on VS and to the Skorpikis as well. Conned the guards, they were amiable, then conned him, he was amiable as well. I went into the room by myself and /didn't/ charm him. I just handed in the emerald and got the enchanted one back. He told me to get out of there and never come back, then attacked me. None of the other guards agroed me though and I ran out of there, and out of the hole, jboots served me well, was able to make enough distance to cast invis on myself, then ran to the Skyfire zone and zoned off the agro, peice of cake.

I can confirm this. I, too, am a DE and amiable to VS. I went in there last night - solo. All of the scorpions were amiable including himself. I buffed up, refreshed JBoots, put Rune V up and went in. I never cast any spell on him or any other mob in there (neither collaboration nor charm), just handed him the emerald and got the enchanted one back. He said his line and attacked me. He initially hit me for 2 rounds, which were soaked up by the rune. By the way, 1st round were triple hits and double kicks, 2nd round quad-hits. He hits very fast and by the end of the 2nd round rune was gone. I didn't stick around to see how much he hits for, I turned tail and run out. Not sure whether he followed but there were no other (attempted) hits apart from the 2 initial rounds.I didn't run very far eithr, I was still in the temple when I stopped and gated out. Thanks to the rune he didn't do a single point of damage to me and his guards never moved.

I'm lvl 52, he conned blue and his guards were light blue.

Hope this helps

Loc on him is -30,+1330 down in the temple with the entrance to howling stones (down one of the other ramps). It's in a room with 4 Scorpikis Guardian's, and one wandering guardian that comes and goes.

None of them see invisible, and all were apprehensive to my troll shadowknight (who is also apprehensive at the Danak outpost).

Did this guy solo at level 58 and being KOS. Just invis up, walk in, mez wanderer in hall leading to him. Pulled with tash, (tryed charm but he interupted me) rooted him, back up, charm, did turn in! He does not agro after turn in, so I just gated the hell outta there.

Impaler Tzilug - Kite Method
# Apr 13 2002 at 1:23 AM Rating: Default
We tried 3 of the ways mentioned here... two failed badly. Tried to pull just Impaler with dispell (51 cleric cast it), and got all of them in the hallway. Tried to charm Impaler, but others killed me pretty quickly. The cleric + DA didn't work since it aggro'd all of them, and couldn't charm Impaler without getting the others.

The way that WORKED:
All buffed, SoW, INVIS. Pally went into the room and cast root on Impaler. Not sure if it took, but Impaler was last one outta the room. (Perhaps a druid with SNARE would do really well here.) On the way up the ramp, I cast charm on him, and the others were around the corner so NONE came at me. Charm took, I turned in emerald, got the enchanted one back, gated just to be sure. He ran and made it to the zone ! The cleric wasn't needed (this time)

Good luck !

I just completed the charm part of the epic quest. This will help those that are not kos to VS and therefore not kos to the Skorpikis in the pit in OT. His room has him in the middle/back and 2 slorpikis on each side that will be on VS faction. He is kos to all and sees invis. I used dictate to charm him, which is unresistable and he came right to me with no assists from the 4 others in the room. I'm guessing as long as a charm doesn't get resisted or wear off, the other scorpikis won't help the Impaler. I put the emerald on my pointer while I cast the spell to make the trade very quick so I could gate out of the zone. Hope this helps all those on VS faction... to be not kos makes this part much much easier.

Can any of the scorpians (including Tzilug) see invis? Might try to do this quest part solo if they can't.

No. Your 49 charm spell Alure will work. Only problem is getting it to stick and hold on this guy at 51 might be a challenge.

The quest portion of this mob is soloable, at least it was for me at level 58.

There's one roamer guardian... wait for him at the bottom of the stairs invis. When he gets to the middle of the first set of stairs up, mez him. Then Tash Impailer.. He should be a single pull, at least at my level he was. Start casting charm as soon as you can. About the time he gets to you, he should be charmed. /pet guard here. Re-mez guard up on the stairs. Do turn in.. Stun then mez impailer - gate.

This can get ugly if your not on the ball. If you waist time, or let the guard on the stairs break mez, your done for. These guys HT big time. Very nasty.

RE: Yizztar
# Jul 22 2001 at 3:54 AM Rating: Default
lvl 58 they all coned blue.
but it very sure does work at lower lvls too, like I pulled the Emperor in Sebilis single at 54 with dispell.
The point is that there is enough room to not let the other guards aggro on you if you let Impaler run straight towards you so he does not run a circle aggroing the others. If you use dmg or debuff spells it raises the aggrorange.

Ok this is another solo questpart!
You just have to be smart and skilled.
Grab some high lvl cleric buffs if you feel uncomfortable with what you have. Get yourself a gate to Skyfire and a SoW and run to the Howling Stones Entrance Tomb invised of course. Once there buff up Rune V and Berserker. Load Charm Line, Gate, Root Line, Dispel Magic Line, Tash Line, Meyy Line, keep berserker or rune up too and an Color Shift.
Now you need to act swift. Wait for the wandering Guardian Scorp meyy it on half way up. Walk down quickly pull Impaler with dispel magic that will single pull him. Tash him and root, take some distance to him charm him and give him the gem. Then gate out. You should loose 2 bubbs HP at max.
Probably make sure you have a nice cleric friend though to help out if things should go wrong but basically this is very much a solo quest part. Good Luck !! The oldest are still the best I am afraid :-)

OK, Sweet plan but after soloing this piece I think there are some pointers to add to this plan. This guy hits from a LONG way away.If you mez the roamer too close to where you root Tzilug he will agro the roamer.First time I got him too low down the stairs and pulled 5 guardians with the predictable outcome. Then I tried again, same thing but only the roamer add and I got out ok.Third time they were miles apart and under control, but Tzi. would NOT take my gem.Hence I assume that it was going for the roamer ,ie was in combat even though too far away to hit it.(make sense?)Gated.Take 4; wait till roamer is in the room ,single pull Tzi. with dispel line and run to top of stairs, he is very slow.Root on or near the top of the stairs, charm, gem, gate. No hits taken ,4 spells and one epic piece done.Collect corpse.Oh and to find Tzi. go in the entrance to the first T, go left and follow the stairs down.PS single pulled coz I am a lazy lvl 60 and still no epic /sigh .

Hi,

1) This guy is VERY dangerous. Do not attempt to kill him it's NOT worth it.

2) He is NOT on the VS or any other faction that can be raised. He is KOS to everyone. How do I know you ask? Well I am a Dark Elf, I hit the VS faction with Collaboration (300 point faction buff level 51 enchanter spell) and the rest of the scorpion-men (including his guardians) were amiable to me. He remained KOS. I then cast Collaboration on HIM. .... Still KOS. So don't bother thinking you can get faction with him.

3) Do NOT attempt to charm him while his friends are around. Here is what will happen. He will attack the guardians, 1 or 2 of them will attack him and the rest will harm touch you. For about 600 points each. Took rune 3 (230hp) and full buffed (no cleric buffs) health off me in a single round.

4) Most likely way to clear the room is to have a cleric willing to die come down here, cast divine aura and run thru the room and head for the zone. The cleric will train them all, get to absorb the harm touches, and with SoW might just get out of the canyon before dying. (There is NO chance of living, the two named scorpions at the exit of the canyon WILL finish the cleric off.) As the cleric runs you mezz the Impaler, then charm him, wait for mezz to wear off. Then you give your pet the gem he wants. Which gets you the enchanted gem you want but breaks charm. He instantly attacks you in the 187 range twice a round and almost never misses... you die but can easily get your corpse back. (He and the guardians don't see invis.)

5) you could try harmony/wake of tranquility. I personally don't think it will be enough as he will walk right by the guardians to come to you and agro them no matter how well harmonied they are.

"There is NO chance of living, the two named scorpions at the exit of the canyon WILL finish the cleric off."

Well....that rather depends on the Cleric's Cabilis faction =)

The two named scorpions (the Arcuts) are on Legion of Cabilis faction, and will kill the regular scorps....so if your cleric has dubious, or above, Trooper faction, they'll help him =)
Not on VS faction...

Aye, he is down in the gorgue, in the Single Entrance temple looking thing. Dont know if it is true, since when I went down there, my group got owned prity fast (granted it was only a druid and a rogue, I was over confident).

Watch out, this guy has MAD regen... 4 of us couldn't do it. He regens around 300hp a tick, you will need serious damage output. He also dropped nothing, but if anyone finds out post it here.
The only faction hit was VenrilSathir.
