GoC: My Experience Turning In Stanos' Head

All,

The SHM Malos line does not land on the General.
ENC Tash *does* land and so does Mem Blur and Lull.
Best to clear-out the house, inside and out first, leaving one DEF up.
(the roaming DEF Assassin has no part to play here so ignore him)

For a ROG, it is easy-peasy because of Sneak/Hide. However, for a BRD, it was difficult for me because I could not hide fast enough after handing-in the Sealed Box. So, I agroed both the DEF and General.

Through several trial/errors, the way I was able to do the turn-in by lulling the General and approach as close as possible, without agroing, for turning-in Stanos' head -- that is to say, turn-in the head at the furthest distance you can. This was at the Misty zone area. After handing the head over, the General poofs and the mask is in-inventory.

does the general's contingent despawn or do you need to kill them all before the general?

Do all the generals contingent attack when you hand in the box or do you have time to kill general or run away to the group

Rogue Epic changes:
- Eldreth will now return after leaving for 1 hour rather than 8. He can no longer be killed by miscreants.
- Founy Jestands and Tani N'Mar will no longer have any parchment on their corpses if killed. They will, however, always have them in their pockets if someone happens to be clever enough to take them.
- Renux Herkanor will no longer carry a Jagged Diamond Dagger.
- General V'ghera will no longer carry a Cazic Quill.
- Karg IceBear will be a bit easier to find and will be carrying the Gigantic Zweihander more often.

no quill...

Took out the general last night on Drinal - no quill - i think it is easier/more time efficient to redo the first parts of the epic rather than camping phinny in kk as she is hardly ever up. So that's what i'm doing!

Coercer Q dropped the Robe of the Ishva so that's one less robe I'll have to get.

I didn't remember that....

And once again, no quill.
Now THAT I remember.

I just love all the people saying how "insanely" easy this guy is. This guys day was about 7 years ago. Back then he was extremely tough, and took a raid force to beat. Just pulling that house was extremely tough. Don't bother posting about how awesome you are and how gimp he is 7 years and 12 expansions later. You will never understand how godly and awesome this fight was back in the day when your mt was sporting Yaks and lucky to have 5000 hps. You're not cool.

Just did this
# May 22 2007 at 9:28 AM Rating: Default
Never did this before today. Im a paladin, and friend needed a hand. So we go to do turn in and run over house the undead where u need to hand in your box too. When that happend we got all them and had to evac loosing the druid. Second attempt we do turn in and general spauns then some how IVU droped and all house agro's and again we evac paladin down. Ok so now im sure we can do it just need to get general alone. So apparently during the recovery he walk out of the house. Got back with my necro , dots loaded and ready to drop the General soon as i set them off to do so. Running back, see him hes all alone. So now friend comes as her ranger attacks i dot the living heck out of it he droped like a ton of bricks. Hes a push over im not time geared or any of that stuff. The write ups are not real good for this so thought i would post this . Suggest spaun him. See what he does wait till he wonders off. If h no move get a monk or a necro or sk pulll him out fd wait till they all go way and tag em away from the mobs around him in the house. Simple as cake after that .

Good luck.

General Fight
# Apr 30 2008 at 2:03 PM Rating: Decent
Are you really that clueless? You must be "super leet"!!

Want to see a fight that lasts even less than 20 seconds? How about you and your buddy try to take him on at level 60 instead of level 75? LOL. I'd pay to watch the General own your sorry *** in about three seconds. Of course, you wouldn't even get near him because his lackeys would mow you down without even breaking a sweat.

Pretty funny to see all of these clueless posters talk about how "overrated" the General is when, like a poster above said, they're taking him on 7-8 years and countless expansions after he first came on the scene. General V. is an old world mob, and he was a complete badass back in the day. With a 60 level cap, an entire raid force was required to take him down, and even with a 65 cap, a skilled group working together was needed at the very least.

Please do your homework before you go talking about how overrated all of these old-world mobs are, because they would have owned your *** had you played them at the level the developers intended.

Um yea well you're referring to the difficutly when the level cap was 60. Hardly can be compared to a level 75 fighting him.

took a small guild raid force with me. Enchanter, Necro, 2 Clerics, Druid, Shaman, Bstlord, Warrior, and of course the rogue. first off aggro on the DE's was a major issue. the rogue was not in a grp or the raid for aggro reasons. We all sat at the Rivervale zoneline and pulled to there. the Ench tried to charm Coercer Qioul, but she wouldnt have it. lol. slowly the necro pulled the DEs to the zone line and the raid killed them one by one EXCEPT for Coercer Qioul. When she was the only one left, everyone zoned out to break aggro. even the rogue had to zone out cause she got aggrod. the Necro zoned back in and FDd after Coercer Qioul hit him a few times. She just stood there. then the rogue zoned back in and handed in sealed box into Coercer Qioul successfully! Everyone in the raid zoned back into Kithicor and waited for the General. with everyone just wailing on him, nuking him, and dotting him, he went down faster than a philly hooker!

Not sure why people say the exchange MUST be to
the Coercer, probably notes from "back in the day" when
the Chaplain used spawn also. (I remember that!)

I typically pull and kill off the Advisor and the Coercer
in the hopes they also drop robes.

I leave the Adjutant up, clear all the skellies,
then sneak up behind the Adjutant to use the box
to despawn him and summon the General.

Easy strategy
# Aug 01 2006 at 9:55 AM Rating: Decent
My guild took him out last night. 2 groups, average level around 58. Tank was a 70 Ranger, MH was a 70 cleric. Thrown in were some necros, shamans, beastlords, a warrior, and myself, a 59 rogue.

To clear the house, we first tried using the Harmony line of spells. This ended with a wipe - the aggro range was bigger than the spell range!. Then we tried a new tactic. Every caster equipped with root was assigned to a darkelf. The house was pulled and the darkelves were individually rooted. The melees then ran from mob to mob, finishing them off individually.

Once the Brigadier was the only one left alive, the entire force zoned to Rivervale, then I zoned back out in sneak/hide. The force followed.

The ranger used assist/archery to clear the greenie ghouls in the house so my turn-in would be uninterrupted. Secret-handshake with Brigadier, gave him the box. Pulled Brig and V`Ghera to the open arms of my waiting, bored, ready-for-action guild. He didn't live long.

The main melees worked on the General, a few others kept the Brigadier busy. General went down quick, then the Brig. No deaths were sustained. Many thanks to Dirty Boys for their invaluable help!

Now, just to get that %&*$ing Shining Metallic Robe. *sigh* time to park my rear in Lower Guk.

This fellow is insanely easy. 70 Magician with Raid Buffed Pet, and 70 Druid. Both DoDh / CoA Equipped. Air pet tanked, Myself (Mage), and Druid pretty much chain nuked both out of boredom. Healed pet 4 times total throughout entire fight, he was tanking both Coercer and General. Dispell does help with pulling General. Total gimp. Grats my lowbie 32 SK on Ashenbone Shield!

Duo'd him today. Rogue friend on last piece. Didnt seem too hard. DoDh/CoA Mage (me) and Druid (best friend) run over there. My Air Pet was fully raid buffed, estimating 8k-10k hp(?). Pulled with Annul Magic, only got General and Coercer. I think my pet resisted the DT, or Bulwark of Calliav absorbed it. Pet required 4 heals in the 2-3 minute fight. 3 Renewal of Jerikors (one was to cure Wind of Tashania cast by the Coercer), and 4th heal was Ancient:Chlorobon by Druid. Coercer has about 12k hp give or take 1k. 4 Spear of Ros (3 3119's, and a 5.1k crit) killed her. Hit me for a max of like 162, but hit fast. Druid used Ancient:Glitterfrost on General, nuked him down before I could kill Coercer. Yeah, hes that easy.

Dropped Rogue Epic Piece, Mithral Dagger, Tier Dal Adamantite Breastplate (plate) Ashenbone Shield, Elegant Darkwood Katana. My Shadow Knight got the Shield, lvl 32 its fantastic!
Coercer dropped Robe of the Ishva (Grats my brother's rogue, be seeing General again), Tier Dal Enchanted Staff, Tier Dal Adamantite Chainmail (Chain Tunic), SUPER Congrats to my Mage, who now has a Chain BP!
Quill and Kedge Robe
# Jun 27 2005 at 2:12 PM Rating: Decent
The rogue in our guild sees that the Coercer has a different robe on, so we plan on killing her during lunch break, to at least get the robe out of the way. Didnt think we were gonna try the General, but then.. figgered what the hell.

Took down General, and he drops a Quill. Lucky rogue, and we have a spare Kedge Robe MQ waiting also.
General V`Ghera
# Jun 16 2005 at 5:02 PM Rating: Decent
If you are a person of limited resources all you realy need are 3 people. Today we did it with 3 , a lvl 70 cleric me, a lvl 70 ranger, and a lvl 69 rogue was a walk in the park. We had the ranger and cleric pax the mobs and the ranger pull one dark elf to hhp zl. The ranger rooted it and ran far out of range i then paxed the mob for the rogue to do turn in . Had the ranger run back to help kill the mob we did the turn into. We left the turn in mob at hhp zl and went back to pax and pull the general. We pulled the general all the way to rivervale zl and had the ranger kite him. General V'ghera does summon but with heals the summons are no problem , the ranger wasnt able to snare with aa snare but when he used his don snare that he bought for 120 crystals it never failed. Ranger bowed him and kept argo and the rogue played with his behind and the cleric me set back and watched the kids play :)

62 paladin with only 1 miti AA tanked him very easily, even with life tap proc.

Regen: moderate, about 1% per tic

Hits: 250'ish doubles

Spells: Harm Touch, Invoke Fear, Lifetap Proc (500dd) Summon PC

HP: 32,000

Method; Kill all but one DEF in the house, sneak hide up to last one, drop hide, open trade window, activate hide, complete trade. I recommend the DEF in the NW corner since you can do hand in from outside the building. Once General spawns (back to you) walk away. Pacify the remaining DEF. The Puller (NEC / SK / PLD / CLR) uses Harm Shield or Divine Favor etc. General will waste his Harm Touch against the invulnerability shield. Pull him away from the pacy'd mob (leave that one up so other rogues can do their T/I later too, the DEF are on 8 hour respawn timer, don't be a ****)

Resists: General is very resistant to snares and nukes. If you have it available use wizard / mage low resist nukes, and the DON slows with -resist counter.

Add-Note: Supernal Elixir (600 Hp HoT) is sufficient to keep the MT alive during fight with few other heals.

Coercer Q`ioul gave us more trouble than the General with her nasty spells.

Took down the general with the following force:
55 Chanter, 65 Mage, 62 Druid, 57 Ranger, 68 Beast, 66 Cleric, 65 Paly, 65 Paly, and a 55 Rogue.

Pulled all of the DE's but the Brigader, sneak/hide behind him. break hide, put box in tradewindow, rehide and hit trade. General spawned but did not see me. Cleric pulled him back to camp and he went down without us breaking a sweat. Did not drop the quill.

Ok things went a lil crazy today. Did the turn in like it said on the quest page (to the Coercer) and she handed it back to me saying she had no need for this item. So I'm wondering does it have to be turned into any one of the DE's EXCEPT her or what? Also can this be done anytime or does it have to be a certain game time for turn in?

Thanks in advance
spawn time on de's
# Nov 06 2004 at 9:39 PM Rating: Decent
just killed the general with a group of 5: me (68 rogue), 66 shaman, 65 ench, 67 druid, and a 67 wizard. Another group was there and had already killed everything in the house, so we just waited for them to finish, then spawned the general and got him single, despite 3 undead in the house atm. On an afterthought, we pulled the other de (tasi v'ghera) to see if the ench could charm her, but he couldn't so we killed her while we kited the general, then took him out. We ended up having the wizard tank while the druid and sham chain healed and i did duelist. He ran at about 15%. No casualties and no quill, and because the other group had killed all the other de's, no robes either.

Anyway was wondering about the respawn on the de's in the house. I've checked 3 sites and no one seem to think it imporant.

If you or anyone you know ever kills all the DEF in the house, be sure to kick them in the Jimmies for the rest of us rogues trying to spawn the general!

I've been playing around with the DE house for almost a week now. Rogue got the General's pouch, but as usual, no Quill dropped. Been killing the Coercer and Advisor in hopes that the Kedge robe drops.

When we killed the General was just 68 Beast, and my 67 ench and 67 druid. Beast was about 7k buffed. Pretty easy kill, druid has most healing AA's finished, that helped. I had my rogue logged on as well, but as he's 52, was more like a whiffle bat than a dps in the group.

What i've found about that house.. is that the number of DE's there is definitely a pain, but what's makes them far more lethal is that they all have WR (70% haste) on them when the Coercer is around.

If you're dealing with pulling the house, make sure you dispell the incoming mobs. Makes their DPS much much more managable.

My druid has harmonied a few, pulled a few, and when I got the adds snared, pulled the non-snared Coercer or Advisor to near RV zone, dispelled, and easily killed them. This technique also very useful for feeding a group one at a time. Bards with FM are far more effective pullers obviously, but you deal with what you have.

If you have friends that are heading to Kith to do General, you can get there 30 mins early, get the Coercer out and kill her. By the time the group is ready to kill, WR will have faded off the mobs.

Hope this helps,
